First off, I'd like to point out that the details section and another review say that one of the main characters, Tao Ye, is straight, but his sexual orientation is actually not completely clear, at least for me. This ambiguity is one of the main reasons that kept me watching because I relentlessly wanted to find out. It's definitely worth watching if you're interested in BL (boys' love), so you can also try to decide for yourself what you think Tao Ye's sexual orientation is, once you finish watching.

Since it's only about 2 hours long in total, the drama seemed to only be able to get in the main points/scenes across without dwelling much on every main characters' lives/thoughts. However, this didn't really harm the overall quality. It perfectly depicts how people in China view homosexuality and nicely illustrates the (love) life of a gay teen living in a traditional Chinese household. The story was full of twists and turns that made me go from being so happy for the main character, Xu Zhengxi, to being so sad for him that I wanted to comfort him myself if it were possible.

The story was good enough to make me love the song near the end of the movie. The lyrics are amazing when seen/heard in context. That itself is an accomplishment.

As the other review says, the friendships are precious. The good ones make you adore the characters, and the rough ones... keep you watching. I sympathize so much with the main character and thought that the conflicts were unsolvable without someone getting hurt.

As I've said in the beginning, I highly recommend watching this drama. It's not that long, the boys are cute, and there aren't many dramas from China that focus on homosexuality, so I find this to be one of the better ones.

I thought this was a pretty cute drama, a quick watch but with a lot of learning.

I thought the story was really well set, even though it was done in a short time, you could really get immersed. At one point I nearly couldn't held back my tears, that's how good I thought it was. I wouldn't say the acting was particularly good, more that the story was really catching.

There are actually a lot of issues that come up in it, not just being on sidedly in love with a straight guy. These issues are relevant everywhere in the world and this drama really reflected ion it.

I thought one major aspect which really made this drama stand out was the friendship!! I don't really want to give away anything but seriously, it was precious!

If you want a nice quick watch, this is the drama for you!

This is a 6 part series and second Season of the said title.

The cinematography was great. There are few handshake on the camera but its okay. The actors are really great, especially with their emotions and scripts. It is like they are really the one who is the character in real life.

This Chinese series tells the viewers the reality of life. There are things that whatever we do, even if we try to be ours, even if we force to happen, it will never happen. Something really does not matter to us even though we love it. Then it's still worse, it's not going to happen, you're still hoping for hope. ; Is not that worse? They are giving you false hope on the things that will never be together. It's like drinking water even there's no water at all.

Most chinese series, pure sad endings, why so? Are they bitter or is it really just the reality of life? Surprisingly there are characters from the Season 1 that jumped here in Season 2, reminding us that, even if 'did not happen to our heart's wish, we could even do something that would have happened, not even your original. Well, "We can still be friends even when you're married." Ganon.

This was a good drama with some very emotional, but also heartwarming moments. It also got a serious message across about the problems of growing up part of a gay minority - prejudice, bullying, alienation, just making connections so you can live your life. Pity it was spoilt for me by the tacky ending. I mean, come on, there's a limit to how far you can make up with a guy and his girlfriend/wife who trampled all over your deepest feelings. You can only move on by leaving the unrequited love interest behind! Zhengxi acted the part well, he also has a very sweet expression! I also liked his childhood girlfriend and the guy he finally hooked up with (much better looks than Tao Ye). The Tao Ye character I didn't like at all in the latter part. A true friend would have left Zhengxi alone to get on with his life.

I'm giving Mr. X and I a perfect 10. I'm not sure if this movie is also known as Be Here For you. But the one I saw has that title. Anyway, this is actually the first BL movie that I've seen, and the reason that got me hooked to the BL genre. That's one of the reason why it's a perfect ten for me. The second reason is that this movie left a strong impact with me. The two scenes that stayed with me since I first saw this movie, which is like two years ago, is that scene when Tao Ye is teaching Zhenxi how to eat the candy. The first time he taught him, Zhenxi thought that he will kiss him, and years later Tao Ye showed him again how to properly eat the candy and this time, he kissed him. To me, it has all the elements of a BL movie, from sad love story to tragedy, the girl who's role is to make Zhenxi jealous, the strong bromance that Tao Ye showed to Zhenxi which Zhenxi misinterpreted as love. And the boyfriend of Zhenxi that took all the pain simply because he loves him. This is a beautiful movie with a touching story that will definitely get you hook to the BL genre.

In the world of BL, there are rarities that actually manage to capture the heart of the story it is trying to tell. Mr. X and I: Be Here For You is one of those rarities.

This story is able to encapsulate a great coming of age story about a teen who falls for his straight best friend in the matter of two hours. We feel for our male lead, Xu Zhengxi, as he struggles to deal with his burgeoning feelings for Tao Ye, his best friend. It's a story that tackles the topic of homosexuality, friendship and love in a subtle and careful ways that are adaptable to the country they live in but also manages to tell the story properly.

What I love the most about this movie is its importance to love. Love is such a prominent emotion throughout the course of the story. The love presented isn't just romantic but also platonic in the forms of its friendships. Like someone in a previous review stated, the friendships in this story are beyond precious, especially that of Xu Zhengxi and Ai Tong (she's so precious and adorable and wonderful and she's the best friend anyone can have). However, the romantic love presented in here is also special as Xiao Bu, who ends up falling for Xu Zhengxi, protects him from the heartbreak at all costs. It's these little sweet moments that make the story all the better.

Is the story a happy one? That depends on how you see it. I will say it's realistic, considering that this is something that can happen and we have to consider where they're living. Things dont go well for Xu Zhengxi and Tao Ye and their friendship is never the same but they are able to find solace eventually. Xu Zhengxi gains a loyal and caring boyfriend in Xiao Bu and, despite his hurt with Tao Ye, he is able to confront it at Tao Ye's by singing a song about that heartbreak and crush he used to have. It's more of a bittersweet story but it's done well and realistically that it ends the story well.

I will say though that there are a few things that conflict me. One of them is Tao Ye. I don't know whether I'm supposed to dislike him or not. He is inherently straight for the most part but there are moments where he seems to feel something for Zhengxi and leads him on a lot of the times. It's something that angered me about him. I get not knowing your own feelings or being too scared to admit them but leading on someone just to break their heart is just cruel. It's not just one moment, it's multiple. Tao Ye was also indifferent to Xiao Bu and did not like him around Zhengxi and wanted to take Zhengxi away from Xiao Bu, for himself. Tao Ye could not make up his damn mind and it was frustrating. I also did not like the typical mean girlfriend trope. It's a trope that's been done to hell and I'm ready to see it go. Theres also the scene transitioning and shoddy camerawork but that's more a technical thing and that doesn't and shouldn't take away from the quality of the story. There are some moments that also more unclear than others and you have to decipher a bit.

Overall, this is a BL story I highly recommend, just for the essence of being a great coming-of-age story. Most BLs rely on gratuitous sex scenes and unnecessary plot devices to appease a certain portion of people watching these stories. Be Here For You does not do that. It's a story about love and how it can hurt but also how it can heal.

You are going to laugh, cry, get upset, get happy, all in two hours, which is aproximetely the complete runtime of the film/series. It's a good BL film/series for those interested in a teen drama with real-life issues and unrequited love, that eventually finds it's way to a happy ending.

The Good: the story from the start it doesn't necessarily tells you everything that is happening, you gotta stick with the characters as everything unfolds. Zhengxi's best friend is my favorite character of all. She is the definiton of best friend all the way to the end of the movie.

The love story is not really between the two guys, is between all the young people that become one way or another involve in it.

Friendship and loving with no limitations, is the heart of this entry of Mr X and I.

The Bad: right to the point, the ending was totally anti-climatic, but it makes sense in the context of the story.

Music-wise, I was not impressed, there wasn't any specific song that stuck in my head, besides the most important song in the film, but that's the point, that one song shouldn't be the only one that gets attention, specially in a movie that lasts 2 hours.

I'd definetely watch again, if I find it with better quality of video and audio.

Well...

The story has something quite good and refreshing considering the idea and all, yet I did dropped it after going through half the film. I don't want to be harsh but the acting and the cinematography was somehow meh to me. I did tried to go as far as possible and lowkey enjoyed it but I've always had this feeling of something missing and it was the acting.

But do not stop on to my review and check it out yourself to make your own opinion on it !
Maybe you'll like both the story and the acting, cast
