I really liked it but...
Now, I went into Sotus expecting great things. Fans of BL dramas all seem to agree that this is one of the best if not the best BL drama. So I was expecting this to be my new favourite BL story and I'm afraid to say that its not, but that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy it.I have now seen several Thai BL dramas I started with Bad Romance last year, which was fine and I watched a little bit of Together With Me which was a lot better, but then I took a break from Thai dramas and only recently have gotten back into them. So I've been trying to get through the GMMTV BL dramas first, so I started with My Tee which has potential but it really wasn't that good. Then I moved on to Kiss: The Series and Kiss Me Again, I really enjoyed them both but especially Kiss Me Again, I'm a big PeteKao fan now. After that I moved on to My Dear Loser: Edge of Seventeen and WOW this drama was almost perfect to me, I thoroughly enjoyed the main couples love story and the chemistry between In and Sun was unbelievable - watching their bond and friendship grow was pure magic, although they didn't define their relationship they are my favourite GMMTV BL couple at the moment. I also watched Puppy Honey, it was pretty good, Pick and Rome had great chemistry but the writing for them wasn't the best (but I am very excited about the bits and pieces I've seen of Theory of Love - also OffGun's friendship is adorable)
When I finished Puppy Honey 1 and 2 I knew that I only had Sotus left before I could watch Our Skyy. So I saved Sotus knowing it was everyone's favouite and so I could compare it against all the other dramas and I did really enjoy it but certain parts also underwhelm me.
I think the writing was a little weak and dragged in some places but overall it was very good. The direction wasn't anything new or amazing, but it did the job more than well enough and the actors I thought did a brilliant job. So the one thing that let me down (and I hate to say it) was the lack of chemistry I felt between Singto and Krist, I really like the interviews and appearances they have made in other things, I love their personalities, but somehow the chemistry was missing a little for me in Sotus. That's not to say I didn't "aww" and squeal at their cute moments, because I 100% did, but as I said there were some scenes where I found the chemistry was missing.
Here's the thing chemistry is completely subjective, if it wasn't people wouldn't have shipping wars, so although I didn't see it clearly hundreds of thousands of people did and so the only real weakness this show has for me is a very personal reason, It may have also been that my expectations were way too high, but because this show is their love story, I'm afraid I can't give it a higher score, sorry! But I will be onto Sotus S soon and I'm pretty excited for it.

Late to the party but what a ride!
Well, it’s 2025, so I am a bit late to the party… but SOTUS is such a brilliant drama, I loved every minute of it. Honestly, I had to binge it in a day because the story kept me on my toes.So, being here after watching the Ex-Morning, which I loved and which made me fall in love with Singto and Krist’s crazy chemistry and marvelous acting. In the comments I read about all the references to SOTUS, so I had to check it out for myself. And what can I say, it made me fall in love with them all over again.
Of course they are a lot younger here, although Krist does not seem to have aged one bit. Singto is really handsome in SOTUS and even more so in the Ex-Morning.
The story is actually really interesting, from the hazing activities to the development of the love story. I personally think that such activities are still a bit weird, because I cannot believe that teachers would accept and tolerate them, but hey, it’s fiction, right? Here they helped to create bonds between the characters and also to express their different personalities, moreover their development. I would have appreciated a bit more insight into the side characters’ relationships, but this is criticism on a high level.
What I really liked was the depiction of the developing feelings, accompanied by anger, sadness and confusion. Krist and Singto did a brilliant job portraying those. I was drawn into their world and they didn’t let me go until the end. I really felt with them, cried and laughed with them.
All in all, it is one of the best Thai BL dramas I have seen so far. I will definitely watch it again… and not just once! Btw, for those who haven’t seen the Ex-Morning, go watch it!

More about SOTUS and engineering life than romance
I was asked to watch this drama by a lot of BL fans. They were like this is the OG BL and a lot of the existing BL troupes come from this etc. and that I'd regret not watching it. So i decided to give it a go. I personally think it's an average drama which is kinda confusing at times probably cz it's old and depicts people's mindset from back in those days. Like Arthit is clearly ragging but then people are praising him in the name of team building. I was expecting more of an enemies to lovers troupe where Arthit is the bully and khongphob stands against him but thats not the case KP is just praising him. They leaned more towards SOTUS being good probably cz back then it was not banned.I'm in the ep 8 rn I've already dropped it twice i am gonna force myself to finish it but i most probably won't watch the sequel. I am a big fan of Krist from mint to be and ex morning but after watching those this one doesn't match that level for me.
The 1st 6 or 7 episodes were only about SOTUS and it's activities. Barely any progress in any couple's story. Frankly i dont get when and why any of them fell for each other. I didn't understand any of the characters either. Not arthit nor KP, like when did Arthit fall for him and I'm pretty sure KP hated Arthit but then suddenly he's in love with him🙃. Ahhhh idk i might probably be dumb but i don't understand the drama. I continue to watch cz i wanna know whats soo amazing about this drama but i see nothing so far.
The unique thing about this show is that it feels very natural and realistic, you can see a lot of BL and GL actors who are popular rn in 1 frame, there's a mix of gay, straight and lesbian people (usually u rarely see straight couples in BLs), it's different but not for me. I prefer some drama and some romance. I dont mind if there are no kiss or NC scenes at all but I'd like to see the process of 2 people falling for each other.

My Hones Opinion :
Honest Opinion:This is the Second BL Drama that I DIDN'T like that much.
Comprised of 15 episodes the first 9 were mostly revolved around the SOTUS hazing, then we start with the real Love story.
There were some long filler-scenes, filler-episodes ( the Flag one ), some missed opportunities.
Regarding Production:
The Audio was OK, sometimes it was lacking, sometimes muffled, sometimes very good.
The Cinematography was OK as well, nothing special.
The Characters: Not Fully Realised. I couldn't connect with Kongpob nor Arthit. At some point, I was more invested in Em's and May's relationship, to be honest 😅.
I wish that would have been MORE in-depth conversations between Kongpob and Em since they're literally best friends ( like expressing their emotions or how they felt regarding their crushes instead of just nothing ). And just one scene doesn't count in my opinion.
Also #PremWad. I wanted to see more 😭.
I understand that the show is also about the SOTUS method, and I liked the fact that they wanted to incorporate some traditions in there. But I think it was a little too much overdone.

I know a translator’s slip should not spoil one’s fun, and I have tried to remain fair about the whole thing. BUT, I must admit, it was a shock and a disappointment. Actually, I was hurt and for that reason pissed off and do not know of any other way to vent my frustration than to express my feelings here.
In America and Europe the term ‘fag’ is the most derisive, insulting and humiliating hate-term you can use against a gay person. Shame on the translators and shame on anyone responsible for allowing such hateful speech on public television. To the translator of this insult I would like to say, “this world belongs to all of us - so get used to it”.
I hope the ignorant person who did this will grow a heart and learn to consider the terrible impact this word will have on young minds... including gay kids, and gay-friendly kids. After getting punched like this in the middle of a supposedly safe LB series, many vulnerable-gay ones will learn to hide even more, while the gay-friendly will learn to be less friendly.

As to the rest of the series, I found it very entertaining and well made; the chemistry a little off balance, though, with the character of Kongpob taking most of the credit. I was, nonetheless, enjoying myself up until that moment when I got slapped in the face by the unfortunate translation. I must confess I stopped watching at that point and proceed to declare it so in this here review. This is a ‘partial review’ of a good series spoiled by an ignorant translator that injected it with venom.
Ps. To the translator... I am a grown person who can take this and more; but, think of the young ones, you prick!

quando um hetero beija um gay
Se você acha sua vida ruim pare e reflita bem: tem gente que gostou de sotus, o momento difícil da sua vida vai passar, o que não vai passar é ver o Arthit toda vez beijar o kongbop e limpa a boca? Tipo???? Se tu foi fazer um drama bl você tem que ter noção que vc vai beijar outro macho sim! A história é repetitiva e muito chata e o fato do arthit não se aceitar é expressado tão bem que da é raiva, não é boa atuação é só o ator que é hétero e não entrou muito no personagem (se o personagem realmente for assim então cancela a história toda) o que salva o drama é o singto que como sempre sendo um bom ator, ost e produção medianas demais e visual ne? só melhoraria se botasse aqueles personagens secundarios sem camisa já que só de ver essa boca de peixe morto do arthit vc ja desanima de assistir.Was this review helpful to you?
10/10 The first and best BL series for me.
This is a very memorable and romantic BL themed series even though its too short.This was such an excellent series. It was moving to see how the two characters fell in love over the course of the show. I started out hating Arthit but by the end I loved him. The facial expressions were on point and at times comedic which made the series that much more enjoyable. I was sad that it had to end. Wish there were more shows like this.
have never been so attached to a drama series. Thank you #Thailand and #GMMTV for being so bold in interpreting this genre. This will kickstart me in BL dramas. Gonna miss Arhit and Kong's cute moments. Sad :-(

Una serie que ya tiene sus años, de las primeras series bl que ví hace años ya, me encanta la historia original y que nos muestran una cultura muy de las universidades en Tailandia.La pareja principal es icónica, me encanta la música que hay dentro de la serie y toda la trama de el mentor enamorándose del novato, talvez no es algo que volvería a ver pero fue bastante interesante de ver

Sotus, menceritakan seorang pria bernama Kongpob yang baru masuk ke dunia perkuliahan, saat ospek dia dipertemukan dengan seorang kaka tingkat bernama P'Arthit yang merupakan ketua dari ospek tersebut. Sikap P'Arthit yang tegas, kuat, dan Angkuh ini sangat berlawanan dengan Kongpob yang baik, lembut, dan penuh perhatian, ketika mereka dalam satu stage dan berdebat di depan khalayak mahasiswa-mahasiswi lainnya, hal yang luar biasa terjadi. Tenía la inquietud de ver uno de los BL más conocidos, y que incluso ha sido nombrado como 'clásico', además de ver los inicios del BL tailandés y de los protagonistas.No la disfruté completamente porque no me gusta que aún cuando el fin del programa SOTUS sea construir lazos entre los estudiantes, los medios sean cuestionables, sobre todo si en el futuro sabemos que los personajes tendrán una relación romántica, cómo justificas los daños que pueden resultar de una situación así para que después, como si nada, se enamoren.
Kongphop, me encantó, diciendo lo que piensa y siente, además, me alegra que busque la forma de hacer un cambio en cómo se hacen las cosas.

L'un des premiers bl que l'on m'a fait découvrir et qui m'a fait adoré KristSingto d'autant plus que c'était à une période où il y avait encore peu de bl.Une belle amitié que ce soit dans entre les nongs ou pour le gang des bizuteurs (P'Bright alias P'Off m'a bien fait rire a maintes reprises et ça m'avait emmener a découvrir les autres pilliers de Gmmtv)
Le fameux sotus qu'on entend parlé dans beaucoup de bl y est ici détaillé plus en profondeur et ouvre sur une suite avec sotus S qui bien que intéressante était à mon goût moins bonne dans la logique des 2 années passées avec une évolution des sentiments pas assez développé et pour Our Skyy j'ai un peu mieux apprécié bien que ça reste léger.
Bref si ça sortait maintenant j'en serai peut être moins fan (quelques soit le Pairing) mais ça reste pour moi un bl à ne pas manquer quand on débute dedans et qu'on ne connait pas la culture thaïlandaise.
Maintenant j'ai hâte que the ex-morning soit diffusé afin de voir leur évolution. Je sais que leur amitié est bien réelle reste a voir si leur alchimie a l'écran se sera encore plus développé après cette longue pose

Muy tóxico todo, muy poca química entre los actores protagonistas, la terminé apenas. Sinceramente, feliz de haber visto a Krist con una pareja con la que realmente tiene química (Fluke), porque aquí nada, aunque se nota que los actores lo intentan.
