Anyway, the special was fair enough we get to see more of great moments specially hilarious ones. I totally love Nakatsu he's the best ever! It's true that Hana Kimi's cast was outstanding but every time I think about this drama, Nakatsu jumps into my mind with his weird yet funny and cool thoughts.
Maybe some people didn't like the special or thought of it as unfair but believe me the fact of seeing Hana Kimi's cast and events all over again is worth wasting your time on it.

The end of the drama led us to believe that the special would take place in California. Sadly, that didn't happen. Budget problems? I don't know the reason. But it didn't happen.
That aside, the story was a bit disjointed and uninteresting. They just tried to fit too much in and it made it kind of a mess. I feel like they just tried to fit in everything that they didn't put in the drama but was in the manga/Taiwanese version. I don't think that was a good idea. It would have been much better to have a real, original story. Nevertheless, it was entertaining.
As I already said in my review for the drama, the cast was outstanding. This time I have to shout out to Shirota Yu. The scene in the cafeteria with Sano was just hilarious. Bages Minami also did a god job playing Julia.
The music was good, basically the same as the drama.
In the end, it was a bit of a disappointment. There were definitely things they could have done better plot-wise, but it still kept the spirit and tone of the drama.

When it comes to the story that took place within the drama, I enjoyed it. Personally I would have love to see all the guys in California instead, I think that would have been much more hilarious and a better storyline to tell. As to the rest of the special which took place after the end of the drama, I couldn't help crying, especially during the graduation. It was truly a nicely and touching moment for everyone and really showed the friendship everyone had formed. A friendship that I feel will never be broken.
Overall I think that this special was a nice little cherry on top of the cake that was the Hana Kimi drama.

It is quite annoying to find that the story of this particular special focuses on a story that is supposed to happen somewhere in the middle of the original-run, which further ruins some plot details of the original story. Though it is a good thing that it gave conclusion to some of the "unfinished" details in the drama, including Nakatsu's Love for Ashiya.
Seeing the whole Hana Kimi 'gang' on the screen, and seeing them act together, would surely put a smile on every viewers on this show. Somehow, it clearly manifests in their scenes that everyone is comfortable acting with everyone else, which further gives the drama an advantage.
Though this particular special, tries to close any loose end of the drama, which I believe it successfully did, watching it for the second one would be quite a challenge - taking into account that a 2-hour special can never reach the hype the whole series attained.
Nevertheless, this special would be like a "dessert" for all of the Hana Kimi Fans out there.

- the romance. For 11 episodes it was so MEH. No chemistry between Sano and Mizuki. In fact, it was like he could not stand her (and he was right. She was too meddlesome). And who did not want Mizuki to end with Nakatsu? First time where the third one in the wheel is more appealing than the actual hero.
- less adults, more students. I disliked the nurse, especially because he was such a misogynist. He treated his ex-girlfriend like she was the pest. I hated his "blue" eyes, his hair, his character. Besides all the scenes that were Sano/Mizuki, I fast-forwarded the scenes with the creepy nurse the 2nd time I watched the dorama. But in the SP, his role is tiny! Yokattaaa And the SP was almost 100% about the boys and their silliness.
- Mizuki less focused in Sano. In the SP she realizes she loves her classmates and the school. It is not all about "Sano this, Sano that". It shows pieces of the 7th and 8 episodes, things that happened in between of what we watched it. She spends more time with the boys, creating more memories with them. So it is not untrue when, at the end, she gives her speech.
I love the SP, I like the OP song a lot (**Ikenai taiyou.. nanananana**), I love the actors, I like the OST in general, the setting, the clothes, the competitions and festivals... At the end, 1 hour and 45 minutes felt too short. One of the best shoujos doramas I've seen.

If its a special then I would think its better then the drama. But it wasnt. If fact it was worse.
I guess I can say that I liked it cuz it had a bit more comedy but barely.
In the end it turned serious for some reason. I didnt get that. Why would they do that. It ruined it.
I also didnt like that it didnt have that little romance scene in the end like the drama did. Know what Im saying ;) ?
So I wish It had been better.
