White: The Melody of the Curse (2011)

I can't believe I sat through this whole movie! I'm a fan of horror movies, and I don't expect them to be cinematic masterpieces, but this one was especially bad. First of all, the plot made very little sense. A group of jealous, and competitive, girls fight over who should be the lead singer of their k-pop girl group once they finally achieve unexpected success. Of course there is some kind of revenge curse involved, set off by a borrowed old pop song, but the story behind the curse is not only hard to follow, it doesn't make much sense. I was bored as the lead character tried to find out the secret behind what was going on. Much of it also felt predictable. What bothered me the most about the plot was that none of the fans of this supposedly successful pop group seemed to care if it's members lived or died. That's not exactly fan loyalty, and made the plot seem completely unrealistic.

The acting was pretty standard for a bad horror movie. They did a good enough job being catty, and looking scared when they needed to. The music was average k-pop, but the main song was not as catchy as I think it needed to be. I was expecting something more disturbing, like suicide club. Instead, this was a sub par teen horror flick. Fans of gore will get a few moments that are somewhat gross, but most of the scares rely on eerie sounds, creepy images, and of course a long haired ghost. And the ending felt like a blatant rip-off of carrie, which was laughably bad.

I've seen so many good reviews for this that I can't believe I watched the same movie as everyone else. I would not recommend this movie to my worst enemy. My guess is that you really have to love melodrama about k-pop groups in order to tolerate this. There are much better movies out there for real horror fans.

Badly Aged Poorly Made Horror

Perhaps if I watched this movie at the time of it's release I would've enjoyed it more however watching 2021 it is out of date and for lack of a better expression meh.

I am guessing but I guess for most the pull of this movie would be the plot, a cursed K-pop song sure does sound interesting however the execution was messy. Also again in 2021 the K-pop industry has changed quite a lot and while it's still if not more cutthroat, the movie feels outdated. There were a lot of plot points that were straight-up comical and made absolutely no sense. The ending was messy and I came out of the movie slightly annoyed.

The horror felt cheap, extremely low budget, most of the scares were predictable and the blood looked like raspberry syrup. The cheap white wig also made me laugh a lot, that's no lace front that's for sure.

The women in this movie were really beautiful though giving a star for that.

There is far better Korean horror out there, don't waste your time on this

I tried to like this movie. I really did. I had high hopes for it but when I tell you it is BORING, I mean it is comatose boring.

The movie had a ton of potential but they CRAWLED through everything, what should have been a hour movie was stretched into nearly 2 hours. Now, if you like slow burn and love the "build", then this might be a great movie for you. Sadly, for me, it wasn't. I love my stuff fast paced. This was so slow that when things finally did start happening, I didn't care and was half asleep.

I care nothing for the characters. I can't even tell you any of their names. Lol which is sad.

Though I will say it shows a lot of what I'm sure idols go through with the companies and it makes me sick. But it's really no secret. Smh.

OKAY THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I AM WRITING A REVIEW. THIS MOVIE AS ALMOST ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE REVIEW IS SAYING DOES NOT CONTAIN MUCH OF A GHOST. BUT IT IS GOOD IN IT'S OWN WAY. I AM SICK OF WATCHING HORROR GENRE WITH GHOST IN THEM. I DON'T BELIEVE IN GHOST NOR AM I AFRAID. I STOPPED WATCHING GHOST MOVIES WITH ALL OF THEIR CLICHE STORIES. WHAT CATCHES MY EYE IN THIS DRAMA IS NOT IT'S HORROR ELEMENT BUT THE REALITY IN THIS STORY. THE GREED OF HUMANS, THE NASTINESS OF SOCIETY AND THE WAY PEOPLE GET AWAY DOING ALL KIND OF BAD THINGS SINCE THERE IS NO ONE TO PUNISH THEM UNLIKE GHOST STORIES WHERE GHOSTS CAN GET REVENGE. THAT IS WHY THERE IS SO MUCH EVIL WITH THE GOOD PEOPLE ALWAYS BECOMING VICTIM.
THE ACTING WAS GOOD. I LIKED HOW NATURAL THEY WERE AND THE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS THEY MADE IT REALLY WAS VERY SCARY.
THE PLOT IS VERY GOOD. SOME PEOPLE MIGHT FIND IT STUPID BUT REALITY IS REALLY LIKE THIS IN THE FACE OF FAME AND MONEY. I THINK IT WAS VERY REALISTIC.
IF YOU ARE HERE TO SEE THE FACE OF GHOST IT DOES'T SHOW MUCH OF IT. BUT IT IS HORROR AND A VERY GOOD ONE.

It was a gripping movie for sure

The movie in the beginning was predictible and seemed like one of those cheap horror movies. However at the second part when i thought everything was dissolved a twist started which made it even more intriguing. I was kinda disappointed at the main character. Now that i think each of the pink dolls members although being too desperate and making too many mistakes, were actually quite pitiful so my hatred faded away.

The biggest shock for me was the last scene. I wonder if the producer died too.

Since this movie is about a song, i thought the White song could be catchier. The only thing i could remember is the beginning but it was song i would like to listen afterwards.

Acting was good. Many times you can see in dramas that actors and actresses act really well but extras make it cringey and ruin the mood. Orrr the exact opposite. However everyone in this movie had decent acting skills. It was easy to watch.

Keep in mind that this was released at 2011 and watch it.
