Good Though Too Slow For Me....

Good though also quite slow and a few plot points that made me scratch my head. Like Why is Porsche trying to get Nuer's neighbor in trouble with the law instead of ignoring it? He doesn't even like law and only studied it because of his father yet he is trying to put it into practice. No one is getting hurt by the neighbor setting up a restaurant in the middle of the river. Nueng knows that he will only making it hard on himself, Nuer and Nuer's family by interfering as the neighbor will no doubt retaliate. To be honest, the neighbor subplot was random and completely unnecessary. It served no purpose at all! Same with that atrocious ending! Like why? There was literally no reason for Nuer to die AT ALL, but the series decided to give him a heart attack on his wedding night. Uh... What?! Anyways, the love that Nuer and Porsche had for one another was touching, though a bit rushed. The story was good and though pretty standard. A guy who has a girlfriend who then realizes his feelings for his best friend and they get together.

Surprising how long it took for elephants to appear in a BL considering how big they are in Thailand. It was nice seeing an elephant camp, a different setting for a BL.

I'm sick and tired of most Asian LGBT series or movie ending like sh*t.
First, there is not such thing as liking someone that identifies with your same sex and not being gay.
Second, most certainly not every gay has a girlfriend/boyfriend, and most definitely not every one in the exact same period of time that they realize they like their best friend, coworker or else.
Third, you can choose to be with the person you love and have a happy ending (I know there are a few dramas that end well but it's the minority).
Fourth, you can break up with the person you are dating before you act on your desires.
Fifth, if you don't want to be with someone, or you start having feelings for someone else while in a relationship you should break up with the person you are with, you don't have to wait till that person cheats, or gives you a reason, not wanting to be in a relationship is reason enough.
Last but not least: BEING GAY IS NOT A BAD THING, IS NOT A LIFE SENTENCE, OR SOMETHING TO HATE YOURSELF FOR, IS JUST LIKE YOUR TYPE OF BLOOD, OR YOUR ZODIAC SIGN, IS JUST ANOTHER FEATURE ABOUT YOU THAT'S ALL.

Grey Rainbow tells of the deep love between Nuer, the son of an elephant camp owner, and Porsche - a law student and his roommate in school. Nuer is a practically minded young man who is capable of a great deal of affection and the first half of the movie shows his evolution from a close minded person living a straight life to a most accomplished young man who reaches his full development with the help of Porsche. His friend, Porsche, on the other hand is a well balanced individual from the beginning (though not exempt from doubt), showing an inclination towards the spiritual and transcendental - thus preparing the grounds for a very surprising ending; one that may not be to everybody’s liking but which is full and rich and not deprived of a sense of happiness and fulfillment.

The story is convincing; there is a great deal of social awareness in situations describing the different reactions (both negative and positive) to their condition as a gay couple. LGBT issues are handled with a great deal of sensitivity and realism which makes this movie a cut above the rest. The end however, falls into a very different category and there is a strong discrepancy between the largest part of the movie tackling everyday problems realistically (from unwanted pregnancy to parental rejection), and the abrupt ending turning very mystical and transcendental. The script needs to be polished because the change is much too abrupt.

But this shortfall can be overlooked by the mostly excellent acting of its main and supporting characters. The acting is natural, not contrived as in so many of these movies with a social agenda. Both sets of parents play a wonderful role. Pay close attention to Nuer’s parents and their Buddhist background... it is the key to understand the entire movie. It is a movie that can be seen more than once since it has multiple layers of meaning and most of it is found in the understanding that Buddhism has of love as an expression independent of sex and gender.

Why do they still use this trope?

The production is good, the acting is good and it's a very good cast, fit for the roles. The story is good the first two episodes, as it centers on how their relationship evolves and how they have had feelings for each other, even though they never actually said a word about it. The last two are about unnecessary dramas that don't really add to the story, such as all the fight about the river or the reappearance of the ex-girlfriend and subsequent illness. At the end, all I could think was "So, all this for that stupid bury your gays trope ending?"

Beautiful....but the end kind of ruins it

Most of the story was very beautiful, realistic and raw, which was awkward at times, but helped the feeling of realness.
The idea or a BL couple getting married was worlds away at the time it was released, ahead of its time. If you love seeing a mature, heartwarming love, Nuer and Porsche are where it's at. The ending was terrible, he didn't need to die and it was absolutely unnecessary to make the ending of Nuer and Porsche's story a sad one, I was really hoping for more because this seemed like a rushed and forced sad ending.

I stayed up until 3am on a work night to finish this. It was beautifully written, beautifully executed, and though the ending seemed a bit sudden (and could have used a bit more...more, as it seemed ever so slightly rushed), I would actually watch this again. I usually steer clear of movies and/or anything less than 12 episodes, but the synopsis seemed too good to pass up. Slightly regretting staying up for that to be the last thing on my mind before sleeping, I tend to take the good stories to heart, but again it was truly amazing and heartbreaking all at once. I’m knee deep in my feelings right now, and the only thing getting me through is reading everyone else’s reviews and writing this one. Send help! Lol

The Chemistry alone is worth watching

Such a memorable film, the character's did a great job of making you believe what you were watching, And the chemistry between them both was truly A rollercoaster of emotions keeping you on the edge of your seat with anticipation of what is coming , the ups make you feel like you are there yourself, and the low points making you feel as though you too were going through there pain. all that said this is A romance film that takes you through there journey and the struggles they encounter along the way.

This was one of the best things I've seen in 2016. The story is sad, but also amazing. I recommend it to anyone. This told a story, developed quite well, and was done so beautifully. It felt very believable in some ways. I would love to say more, but I'm afraid I'd give away too much. Go watch it! If anyone knows if an hard copy can be purchased let me know. I'd love to support more works like these.

What an Ending ....

Grey Rainbow was a breathtaking beautiful series i never expected. Although it was a short drama, but it literally had everything in there.

Actors were very well developed . Storyline was real , intense and dealt with struggling issues. i loved that they were very manly . thai series/movies tend to have a girly male role Not All just some. I dont dislike this but like to see the other side. where man can act like a man and just love like a man and be with a man . simple and real.

The acting, storyline and cinematography in this series are solid. However, the ending was a bit of a let-down. it just felt that after all the hardships that they went through and having come so far to be with each other, why could they not have had a happy ending they deserved, instead of him being left alone to bring a kid that was not even his to begin with.

If you put aside the ending I think this drama is really good and I definitely want you to give it a shot and watch it. To not make this even longer I didn't talk about every single thing I liked about this drama but there is a lot to love. I do recommend you to keep in mind that the ending will punch you in the face. If you really don't like pointless, sad and confusing endings then I recommend you either stop watching at 1.02 (this would have been a nice ending) or don't watch the drama at all.

This is probably why I gave it a lower score, the whole build up to have such an ending. The actors also did a good job. It's just that endings are very important to me so I'm not able to go higher. It would have been a 9 for the story and overall rating from me if it hadn't ended like it did.

Grey Rainbow is a beautiful and breathtaking story about the reality of being in a LGBT relationship. This story is mostly consistent with some plot twists here and there, but as you watch it in my opinion it makes sense. There is no awkward acting and the dialogues between the characters, and this a series where it hit hard on your emotions.

Grey Rainbow !

I am completely numb by the ending ! I like the fact that porsche knew everything throughout about neur ! But still it doesn't make any justice to neur and let him died ! Tang-on the daughter they both could raise her together !!! Butwhyy whyy the writer have to do that ! Also talking about others everything was good but somethings were still not clearly justified to the audiences because they have tried shown everything in an indirect way with dialogues (i am not complaining tho) ! Also they didn't justified porsche homophobic parents very well !

Why should you watch Grey Rainbow

I really liked the storyline. The drama was short and sweet and covered a lot of issues. The drama had a brave move (not going to disclose what it was don't wanna give any spoilers) and it was pleasant to watch Nuer and Porsche's relationship develop. It wasn't rushed nor was it slow. I found it well paced. Major plot twist all in the last episode was a roller coaster ride but it was all worth it in the end. The very last message that that will always only love each other was really beautiful and heartwarming. All in all I highly recommend this drama to everyone.
