Fathers (2016)

Similar in aspect of it concerning two fathers raising their child while struggling with the heteronormative society and how to explain to their child their difference from other families but still normal, while others try to tell them otherwise.

Same premise of gay couple who have a child and their struggles in both exploring how to explain their unique family to their child and their child's exprience at school.

Both movies are about adoptive parents with an adopted child that are contacted by their biological/ birth mothers because they want to have their child back.

Continuing the story of a 4 year-old boy Kai and his two dads, Damian and Jerry, season 2 starts with an unexpected guest Jimmy, the kid of Damian and his ex. The appearance of Jimmy brings turbulence to Damian and Jerry’s life.
Damian still has connections with his ex and takes a lot of care of Jimmy. It starts to make Jerry jealous and worry that Damian might fall for a woman again. In the meantime, he’s facing pressure from his mom wanting him to have his own biological child. On the other hand, Damian is struggling in between taking care of Jimmy and Jerry.
How can they solve all the difficulties and maintain their relationship and family?

Both movies focus on a same sex couple with a kid who have to deal with homophobia, prejudice etc and a mother who wants custody of the child.

Both movies include an lgbt couple with a kid, who have to face discrimination and prejudice. I guess the endings are also both left rather open.
