STORY: Two college roommates live together and one (Lu Qi Ming) is killed in a car accident. He was given the chance to come back for a limited time to tie up loose ends. He loves his roommate (Ye Xiao Ou) so much but will he be able to tell him before his time is up?

I liked the story concept very much. I've seen it twice. The ending is sad and sort of confusing though but it ties into the very beginning of the video. I didn't notice that the first time around. As mentioned in the comments, something is up with the editing, seems parts were cut or jump around.

ACTING/CAST: Hu Xu Chen did a great job as he was both annoying and cute while playing the very immature Ye Xiao Ou. He just made Lu Qi Ming want to love him. Good chemistry.

MUSIC: Odd in parts, pretty in others.

REWATCH VALUE: Twice already. If I ever find a complete uncut version, I'll watch it a third time.

OVERALL: Love someone while you have the opportunity. Life is so short. Don't let it slip away.

THE GHOST AND THE CLUELESS BRAT

GHOST BOYFRIEND
China (2016 movie)
1:30

We usually side with the bullied – not the bully. But here, I love to side with the supposed bully – because the “victim” is a stupid bratty punk who is very irritating. Can’t sympathize, sorry. Another case of miscasting, for me.

The bully is the ghost – a hunk of a ghost. A hunk ghost that takes showers and cooks meals!

Can’t believe he came back from the dead to be with that brat!

And the cute young producer is hitting on the brat, too??!!! Whatda??? Haha!!! Roll eyes!! MISCAST!!!

At 50:11 mark, I really want to stop watching, but I grudgingly watched the rest.

Then… the “angels of death” are… also gay?? Haha!!! Can it get any more crazy that this???

And… after the stupid brat realizes his roommate is a ghost – what does he do? He storms off in anger! Wha…??? Is that really the reaction when someone realizes he’s been living with someone who is, well… dead?? Really??? Or just the reaction of a really stupid brat?

And then, at the last 20 mintues, the ENGLISH subs disappear!! But at this point, you won’t care anymore.
[If you care to understand the last part, an English translation is in the comments section]

Then comes the bed scene that is ewwsome.

The ending? I COULDN'T CARE LESS ANYMORE!!!

5 / 10

Bad story, bad acting, bad directing, but there’s a little kissing!

It’s unbelievable that any of the traits either of the main CP have would be attractive or healthy to another person. One petty and bratty, the other possessive, obsessive, and uncommunicative. Unless there’s something I’m missing about normal human behavior of China-Chinese men, nothing either of them do or say reads as normal to me as a 外國Chinese person.
The whole relationship turns out to be a hallucination/dream the main character has while working on some script (either for TV or film). I think there’s a concerning way to interpret this movie as being gay as a mental illness since he has to be on meds to stop imagining having a male lover.
He then kicks out someone who is in his dream as a LaLa who turns out to maybe be his wife in real life, and then he proceeds to be maybe single for the rest of the movie? The ending is unsatisfactorily rushed when it could have been interesting to explore how he could translate what he’d learn in his dream into real life action to be open with his desires and find someone he truly loves even with all the potential restrictions of why he had to live in fantasy dreams before.
One of my biggest complaints of China-made shows/films is the bad syncing and audio mixing of the voices. And this show is no exception.
Can we talk about the green splash effect as the secondary CP transport from one place to another?! This film was made in 2016! But it honestly couldn’t make the scenes with the secondary CP worse because the acting was already so bad.
I think every Chinese show about a queer relationship/person is worth watching because it’s such a limited selection. But this is not worth rewatching except to show other people a masterclass in how bad a movie can be.

Meandering and Pointless

This is a very strange movie. While there is a ghost, he doesn't do anything ghosty at all, to the point that there's no real reason to have had him be one. When it's revealed, there's not even a fun reaction, like the other guy running screaming into the night. He just acts bratty and petulant.

This brings up another problem with the story. The non-ghost character is so unappealing that it's just impossible that two almost supernaturally attractive people would be that into him. He's nondescript and has a horrible personality, and nothing really to recommend him. The ghost is so hot that my heart rate was dangerously elevated all the way through the film, but he also has an unappealing personality that I can forgive for the tight black t-shirt he wears all the way through the film.

It feels like the author just inserted herself into the story as the uke and had hot men falling all over him for no apparent reason and no real plot in mind, so she shrugged and made the seme dead just to be sort of different. The secondary couple are angels of death that have 30 seconds of screen time and no real context for their relationship, other than adhering to the theme of showing love solely through bullying and being psychotically controlling.

Worst of all, it's just boring. There is really not point to watching this, other than the ghost's muscled body, handsome face and oozing sex appeal. But you could just go to the actor's IG instead.
