I loved it!! (Mild spoilers)
At first, when the movie just begun, i thought i was gonna be really disappointed. But after watching for a while, i decided to keep watching because you never know if the writers might throw in a plot twist somehow. And so i did. I kept watching and stuck around till the end of the movie. The whole time i was panicking because i though i would be unsatisfied with the ending since i developed "second lead syndrome" for the school boy (Mamura) ....but, turns out, he was the first lead all along. It was a very pleasant surprise. Was this review helpful to you?
I love the directing and the production of this film even if the plot itself wasn`t that original. But the most important thing is that it delivered well and i ended up liking all the characters.Especially a certain golden-hearted Mamura who Suzume befriends.

Honestly, The Ending was The Suitable Ending for This Kind of Movie
I am reviewing from the point of view of an audience who has not read the original manga of this film. In my opinion, this film brings story plots and themes that I myself have encountered many times, especially in Japanese novels or dramas, namely love between a teacher and student, I think the character development in this film is not good between characters and I also didn't see good chemistry between each character (for some reason like the closeness between each character is less visible), also the meeting of Sishio and Yosano at the beginning of this film is quite strange (honestly). Although i like the story in this film because in the end Heroine chose the right choice (in my opinion), because in this type of story, if the teacher is a winner in the ending, I think it's not fair enough, because the age difference is quite far between the two (quiet strange).Verdict, I think a film like this is very suitable to be watched at leisure time because it doesn't have a heavy story, although the story is a bit generic but, it is very interesting to watch because the setting of the time and place of this film is the school period which I think is very interesting when considering those times. 7,5 seems fine for the score because of all the shortcomings, I still enjoy the romance in this film and attach a little to how Heroine can choose the right choice in the end.

Surprised with its plot twists and endearing characters.
"Daytime Shooting Star" is like a rollercoaster ride through the wonderland of love and friendship, and let me tell you, I hopped on without a clue about the manga! This Japanese movie is a delightful joyride that left me grinning like a cat with a lifetime supply of cream.
**Characters: Suzume, My New BFF!**
Let's talk about our girl Suzume, the country girl turned big city dreamer. Nagano Mei deserves a round of applause for bringing Suzume to life with her infectious charm. Suzume is not your run-of-the-mill FL; she's a mix of sweetness, spunk, and just the right amount of awkwardness. Leave behind the cliché – Suzume's got her own GPS, and it's set to find love!
And don't even get me started on the rest of the cast! Mamura, Shishio, and the gang – they're like the best squad you wish you had in high school. Mamura is officially the king of adorableness, and Shishio? Well, let's just say, the man's got style, and he's not afraid to use it.
**Plot Twists: Forget Predictable, This is Rom-Com Unleashed!**
So, you think you've got the plot all figured out? Think again! "Daytime Shooting Star" had more twists than my grandma's pretzel recipe. Just when you're cozy with your popcorn, BAM! Unexpected turns, surprising confessions, and a romantic revelation that had me doing a double take. Bravo to the writers for keeping me on my rom-com toes!
**Music: Not Grammy-Worthy, But Hey, It Works!**
Now, let's talk tunes. The music might not be winning Grammys, but it's like that trusty sidekick – always there to set the mood.
**Production: A Visual Feast for the Rom-Com Enthusiast!**
Whoever handled the cinematography did a very good job. "Daytime Shooting Star" is a visual treat. The colors, the scenery, the way they captured the essence of first love – it's like watching a rom-com through rose-colored glasses. Kudos to the crew for making Tokyo look like the city of love!
**Overall: Rom-Com Bliss with a Side of Nostalgia**
In the grand scheme of rom-coms, "Daytime Shooting Star" is like that old-school mixtape you find in your attic – nostalgic, heartwarming, and oh-so-good. It's a perfect blend of romance, and a sprinkle of the unexpected.
"Daytime Shooting Star" is not just a movie; it's a feel-good adventure that'll leave you smiling and maybe even wishing for your own high school romance. Watch it, love it, and then watch it again – because, trust me, it's worth it!

It's been a while watching a Japanese movie and there were a lot of options for me to pick but this movie was my second choice since the first one is not online yet. I am happy that I still decided to watch these! I miss watching High-school movies and the plot was decent.
I was kinda shook that there might be a twist in the end but overall, the ending was.. I like it!! Their romance was cute and very teenage-like.
I wish there was more romance, more characters in-depth and that there were other couples in this movie.
Mamura is Sooo Hot!! And Cute!!! This is why this movie attracted me!! HAHA.
This movie is basically a second-lead syndrome. It wasn't that bad like the Korean dramas and such but Ykow!! i there's two guy over a girl..aiyshh that's Hard.
Sensei was very attractive too!! And I just found out that he's 31yrs old and LOOKING LIKE a 20yr old man. Waw. aND hAS a wife!! too.
I like how she encountered Mamura, I just wish that they showed us how and when he fell for her.
Her interaction with her friends was nice and cute! The way she met Nekota tho!! I was thrilled hahah.
Anyways, this was a good 2hr Japanese movie.
There may be missing elements to this drama but the romance is interaction is all I need!!
HAHAH.

I feel kinda disappointed
it was all over a good heart fluttering movie but i feel really disappointed at the end . I thought she would choose sensei ... as it was supposed be that way. I was sad looking at how quickly she overcame her love for him and fell in love with mamura. I thought neko and mamura would be couple but anyway it was cute . Now I feel like I need to go and console my poor sensei and overall it was kinda unexpected drama with weird ending .except for the ending everything was good
that's it

I loved all the character but... Mamura...
Its not like I didnt like him but for someone whos kentaro biased, I wanted him to play that role, no offense
Story was a bit too rushed, they missed some important parts. The love story between mamura and suzune was rushed that I started supporting sensei in the movie when I was actually supporting mamura in the manga.
I loved suzune and her actor, she was perfect! I liked sensei too, I think they chose a perfect actor for him too, someone whos both (cute and hot) xD

I gave a pretty high score for this movie because it's really entertained me. I love when sensei accidentally pour a hot coffee into his hand. I also love when Mamura accidentally bumped into the fence. My Mom scolded me when I laughed at those scenes hahaha. This movie have a typical romance plot, but what makes it difference is the execution which not-too-light but not-too-heavy. It have a lot of comedy scene, but they can balanced it with quite a serious part. I think I can't explained it in a good way, so you better watch it yourself ... it's really worth it!

teacher-student trope VS second male lead syndrome???
I did not like how the main love interest was literally her teacher and she's his student. What made it worse was he reciprocated his feelings for her like he isn't grown and she's a minor. The only thing stopping them two from being together at that point was her rejecting his confession.......like are you for real right now????!!! THAT was the reason, not that...oh I don't know, it is illegal??!! and so wrong in many ways. literally, the minor said no, not the adult. I was literally BEGGING!!! for her to get with the second love interest and thank God she did! They were cute and I was pleasantly surprised with the love story between the girl and the second love interest. That is the only reason my rating is that high for a movie with a teacher x student trope. Was this review helpful to you?

CHARACTER/ACTING: Sometimes a character really carries the entire story and this rings true for Daytime Shooting Star. I was-- and still in complete love with the female lead. Truly wholesome, pure, and oh so innocent. She's definitely not one to be a pushover either if that's what you're thinking! I've definitely become a big fan of Nagano Mei as a result of this movie. I've watched a lot of dramas (Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese) but I rarely watch Japanese productions (maybe only 30 titles) and even rarer... movies. But... there's definitely something genuine, and interesting with Nagano Mei's acting. It inspires me to try watching more Jdramas and even Jmovies. The rest of the cast does a great job as well, I've even gotten quite a 2nd lead syndrome for ... a certain male character (watch to find out who!). Nonetheless, the character that Suzume ends up with made most sense for her, and the story. I am very content with the ending.
MUSIC: Nothing I'd really want to add to my collection of OSTs... Not great, but not horrible... Still leaves a lot to be desired if I must be honest.
PRODUCTION: I was content with production. Cinematography was beautiful. It really matched the whole innocent, fresh vibes of first love.
OVERALL: A fresh, innocent, fun, not necessarily all fluff, type of romantic comedy. Would rewatch again.

Was this review helpful to you?
