Amazing work
This is such an underrated series. The main lead’s acting was spot on (needless to say he’s a gorgeous piece of a human being). The fact he played to oposite characters made it even more intesting for the audience (and probably more difficult for him). The script was interesting and didn’t made me want to skip any scenes. Already watched it 3 times. Was this review helpful to you?
This gripping story revolves around the arrogant and reckless heir to a technology empire and his lookalike — a lifelike AI android programmed to be a caring companion.
The drama really ramps up when some circumstances result in the robot having to pose as his human counterpart, imitating his personality and behavior. Seo Kang Joon’s talent really shines here. Playing a double role, he makes each character completely distinct — from their speaking cadence and facial tics to body language and walking style. During certain scenes where it’s uncertain who’s who, observant viewers will be able to pick up on some clues thanks to his impressive acting skills. If I didn’t know better, I’d think it was two different people.
SKJ also puts his distinctive good looks to good use for both characters, convincingly pulling off both the wealthy bad boy and the gentle android with a moody smirk or an innocent smile. It’s a brilliant performance that’s worth watching closely — don’t miss his microexpressions and subtle changes as the android develops increasingly human-like behavior.
I haven’t seen Gong Seung Yeon, who plays the female lead, in anything else, but she also does a great job with her role as a compassionate and brave bodyguard and former professional MMA fighter who gets caught up in the family drama.
In fact, there are a lot of compelling and layered performances from this cast, even for supporting roles. The “good” characters aren’t perfect; the “bad” characters aren’t irredeemable (with perhaps one exception); and watching their motivations and secrets come to light kept me glued to the screen. Lee Jun Hyuk as the loyal but conflicted personal assistant also gives a standout performance. There are a few irritating side characters, but their screen time is fairly limited.
The series doesn’t get too philosophical about its AI subject matter, but the plot does raise some interesting questions: When an entity develops independent thought and something similar to emotions, should it be treated any differently than a human being? Is its existence any less valuable than a human’s? Various characters struggle with these questions, but the series makes it easy to empathize with its non-human main character.
Despite its sci-fi trappings, this drama is a love story at heart, and not just a romantic one. Familial love — particularly love (and love lost) between mother and son — is a big focus and drives much of the show’s emotional impact.
The first time I watched it and was nearing the final episodes, I had some doubts about how the series would conclude, but it does come to a satisfying ending.
I don’t give out 10-star ratings easily, but after multiple viewings, this series continues to be one of my all-time favorite K-dramas. Its bingeable 30-minute episodes are fast-paced, have some killer cliffhangers, and keep the twists and turns coming between the family tension, corporate power struggles, and tangled relationships. “Are You Human Too?” is serious (but not humorless), exciting, and thought-provoking all at once — both the plot and the performances make this drama a must-watch.

Rewatching on NF
Rewatching this on NF in 2025 and still hooked as before! In my opinion, the drama has one of the highest rewatch value. Everything is just almost perfect. I miss seeing SKJ in this type of roles. I wish he would consider something like this again as he has now come back from the army. In my eyes, his potential and face card is S+ tier. Was this review helpful to you?
To my eyes, as a mere kdrama fan, this drama was made with serious budget. The visual effects (CGI) were quite seamless and beautiful. I liked how smooth the switching takes between human-robot Nam Sin were, and I loved the action scenes! All-in-all, put this in your watch list if you haven't done so ^_^
Story:
Now, I'm a fan of sci-fi. I have seen the classic "AI" and "IRobot" and I loved them, so I would say that the story itself is not entirely original. However, I do find the screenwriting interesting - thumbs up for the screen writer - though I find many of the "decision" made by this cyborg can, in fact, only be made by human ^_^
Cast:
I love them! All main casts' acting was very good, I enjoyed seeing them portraying the characters. Kudos to Soe Kang Joon, as he successfully played two characters of opposite traits. At certain points, he managed to made me feel like punchin' the human Sin in the face *lol* That's how successful he was in playing the characters.
Music:
OSTs are beautiful and the scores fit the scenes well enough.
Rewatch value:
Well.. I never rewatch drama series.. ever.. so no comment on this one. hahaa..

My likes and dislikes in this drama
It's really a great drama... hats off to the writer for his imaginary level..It's totally different from other fantasy dramas...
But the only thing I feel it's negative is the plot where a human and a robot developed a relationship...tough the robot is a positive character, it doesn't fix the reality for such kind of relationship. It makes the female lead look too naive .
It's also their relationship... that made this drama a fantasy one...Since it can't happen in reality.
Still I loved the story plots and this drama a lot....
This team has done a great work that made this drama outcome as a positive one.

Spirited Entertaining Robot Tale
In this spirited entertaining tale, the production deftly weaves the Kdrama’s narrative between “technology”, family values, greed and a seemingly believable love story between a human and a robot. The start seemed slow with the first episode, but excitement from Episode 2, builds more and more each episode till the end, I almost didn’t want it to end! Cutest, lovable, smiling face robot I have ever seen. The FL is not really likeable, her acting is a bit on the cheeky, irritating side, as she is type-casted, as well as the “anti-hero”, but great support cast, especially the 2nd ML, and the FL’s father and gym family. Pleasurable, over-all.Was this review helpful to you?

A robot and a human fall in love
This was a fantastic drama! At first I wasn't sure I would like it. Not because of the interspecies romance (vampires, werewolves, demons, etc...) that's usually my bread and butter. But because I don't see how a mother could allow her child to be taken and not fight for him... in any and every way she could, yeah, I know she went to the compound (that was a dumb move) but then she waited for 20 years... mind blowing.
There's a lot of things I could say about the mother, I thought she was a terrible person, very selfish.
The grandpa was a horrible person. No wonder the 'real' Nam Shin was so messed up. But the fact that he was the one that... It was unforgiveable. The things he did and he had no consequences. At the end Ji Yeong Hun and David were acting like he did nothing wrong. That irritated me.
The story, the romance between Nam Shin III and Kang So Bong was so sweet.
Some are talking about how horrible it is that she fell in love with a robot, that they hoped it wasn't the robot with her at the end. Anyone still having doubts about which one was which at the end... last episode started at 29:28 should put those doubts to rest.
Personally, I was hoping the robot and the human would a find away to stay together. Thankfully, the ending was a very happy one (a year later) in the last few minutes of the last episode. (I'm usually not a fan of the last minute happy ending but for this one I'm just glad it was one.)
Would I recommend it? Yes, with a caveat. If you don't like interspecies romance, this is not the drama for you. However if you like a drama with a Gorgeous male lead, a FL who can be irritating as all get out (especially in the beginning) but she mellows in the later episodes, if you like a sweet romance, no spice, a couple of kisses, angst, bad guys who don't get their just desserts but villains who do... then this is the one for you.

The best kdrama ever????
Okay so I don't know why I finally watched this show in 2026 even though I've been watching kdramas from 2020.Like I don't even know how to say it but this, this is why I LOVE kdramas. The plot filled with fantasy, comedy, thriller, love story, family, villains everything ughhh.
First of all Seo Kang Joon mwahhh. Like i get it he's crazy handsome but ignoring that bro's acting skills??? I don't think anyone else is on his level. He made me hate the human Nam Shin and love the robot as if it's another actor.
Let's not forget Gong Seung Yeon, she's so cute and pretty and perfectly did her role here.
Then we also have Lee Jun Hyuk. So handsome and such a good actor again.
There were other familiar faces too and new ones too and damn all did their roles justice.
The plot was perfect for me. I always need to have a love story to watch and this human robot couple is the best honestly. Whoever complains about it is stupid because everyone knows it's just a fictional show so what.
And the plot twists that kept coming like I was continuously shocked!!!
On the side note if only they killed off that villain guy then all their troubles would have been long done but nope he isn't even killed in the end and only in jail.
Anyways 10/10 show

Loved it so much I binge watched.
In the last 15 months I have watched 116 dramas. This is the first one that I was so pulled into episode one that I binged the whole thing, only taking short breaks for the bathroom or to grab a sandwich.Excellent work by the entire cast. The story was part sci-fi, part thriller, part romance (sort of) This is the first K drama that I will actually re-watch as time permits. I only gave the music a 6 rating because it didn't distract me from the story but I didn't feel like it added anything either. As a retired DJ, music is my life so when I hear something that makes an impact I definitely feel it.
Be willing to accept that people don't always choose who they will fall in love with and you will enjoy this drama.

I have always wanted to watch this drama because of Seo Kang Joon and because of his facial and figure <3For Gong Seung Yoon, I did not recognize her till ep30+ that she was the girl from 'My Only Long Song', that drama was good too. I'm sorry, :(
Anyways, this drama was epic and crazy. Each episode made me laugh hysterically and made me fall in love. This is my third show about a human and a robot, and in my opinion, this drama was very well done that is made really different from the other Non-human and Human show. Seo Kang Joon's acting was DAEBAK!!!, He really portraited his two-characters significantly and whenever he shows those smiles, it makes me go crazy over him!! Sometimes I want to see his arrogant bitchy face and when we do... I DIE!!! LIKE WTFF!!! WHY YOU DOING THIS TO ME!!
Every episode makes me want to punch my screen and touch Him!! HAHAHHA I'm a Physcho.
Overall, the plot of the story was astonishing. THE TWIST and turning points was out of my mind, there was at least more than 2 of those twist and THEY FREAKING KILLED IT!
The interaction between Nam-Shin and So-Bong was soo thrilling, they may be mad at each other but their chemistry was good, their fight tho.. I love it! <3
Sometimes whenever they do a switch-a-roo... it makes me kilig!!
For the ending... I just find it weird because it's so different from the other Robot-human dramas, but isn't that the point? but at the same time... I was hoping that they were going to be together... buT... I guess that's not the expectation... I still loved it tho, the ending made me cry non stop because of the "TEAR" ...if ykow u know.
Nonetheless, this was an exceptional drama filled with ROM-COM and thriller.
The antagonist really pissed me off, but that's what makes the actors good!!! And I'm proud of that.
This DRAMA REALLY MADE MY QUARANTINE AMAZING!! I may have finished it right away... but this will always be in my heart and my head(BARF).. ESpecially... you... SEO KANG JOON <3 <3<3<3
SARANGHAEYO!!
THAnk you, cast and director for this amazing drama.
I feel bad that I did not watch it a long time ago.. but I did... I may not have written a review.. so.. i am still grateful. <3<3<3

The story starts off with a mother and son that are in unfortunate circumstances because of a selfish grandfather and they get separated and honestly the rest is history. The mom loves her son to death and just yearns endlessly on being reunited with him and honestly; he grows up to be a piece of shit lol (is this a spoiler? Lmk) he honestly is just your average spoiled chaebol and ugh. lol. Because she's a genius scientist, she does what any average mom that misses her long lost son would do and makes a robot duplicate of him and because of a freak accident, the robot comes into play and I really just sympathized with him. I know robots don't have emotions but I think anything or anyone can sense when someone doesn't care for you and your just an object and I thought that was honestly just really shitty. Then he meets someone that actually understands loneliness and even though your like "how can a robot and human FALL IN LOVE" I'm with ya but I really liked the two together tbh. More than anyone else, I mean I like the Hyung/assistant and all but like everyone else was kind of just assholes. Except for the FL family really; they were entertainment. lol
I just want to say I love Seo Kang Joon and I love Gong Seung Yeon so they're basically the main reason I watched this whole show and I was not disappointed at all. He played such a great robot, when he showed emotion, didn't show emotion, how affectionate he was but it wasn't over the top. And she was annoying right off the bat lol she was almost TOO annoying but she redeemed herself well when she started to sympathize and be more understanding. I liked that. I liked Lee Joon Hyuk, because he really kept me on my toes, I didn't know if he was good or bad hahahah other than that, hate everyone else. Idiots.
The music as actually nice, what a good OST tbh.
I probably wouldn't rewatch it but I don't regret watching it at all. It made me emotional in the aspect of just feeling lonely and not understood, being the side burner but still trying your best. Overall, just an all around good AI show tbh.
