Slam Dance (2017)

So, I was needing a quick fix of BL and just watched the cut of this series. This review is going to be short and only for the BL storyline. I have no idea what happened in the rest of the series.

That said, I really liked how the BL storyline played out. I like how naturally they were drawn to each other and then the seme's anger the next day, but in the cut and I assume the overall series they didn't explore that very much and it just faded away. Of course, they kiss in front of the entire wrestling team and loudly declare their love which earns them a thousand stars in my book, and then they took drool-worthy photos of the entire club to raise money for practice equipment, so, yeah, this storyline definitely did it for me lol.

The storyline had the potential to be great, but at times it felt forced into a place that was not realistic. In the real world when someone cheats or rigs something and found out there are consequences. I hate series that have characters seem central to the story, then midway they become backdrop.

The acting was the strongest thing in the series. At times I thought of dropping, but the actors kept me hoping for a better result. The actors that played Ryu, Sing, and Fang were exceptional. Okay, even Woon was great at her part.

Surprisingly the music was rather boring overall and I did not hear one song that I would like to download. I have quite a collect of song from Asian now, but this series failed completely. Maybe they did not have the budget for great music, but there are songs for free online that are better than anything in Slam Dance.

I would not rewatch this series, but maybe a few parts of it on YouTube.

Overall I give it a 6.5 or 7, but main due to the actors and parts of the storyline. I was terribly disappointed in the last few minutes of the series. It should get new writers, the same actors and do a short series 2.

Personally I love the main idea of "sports dance" or as I like to call it ballroom dancing and wrestling competing to stay at the college as there is no funding. I enjoy how the main couple interact- you can tell they want the other to make their dreams happen. People complain about the BL couple-the drama is not about them but the rules the wrestling team had in place and the BL couple is used to break them. They should have more time after their plot tho and should not have had the best couple sexy-ness. The leads need more of the steamy-ness. But I enjoy their love.
I like how every misunderstood person turns out to be good or bad instead of what people had thought.
I feel like a lot of time is wasted- I just want to see them compete, they add in a bunch of extra drama. This drama feels a lot older than it was made based on the plots.
I would recommend this to someone- its not amazing but still a good show. Like a side show to your normal one.

I enjoyed this series, for me person some of the highlight was defiantly the plot twists and just the originality of the story. I think the should have work on keep the gay couple in the story to the end but that's my only complaint. The acting was good from the main characters, and the gay couple did really well with their scenes also.

The dance scenes were a little short and could have been long and could have show more skill. The wrestling scenes were really, good I a was always cheering them on and I learnt a lot about wrestling too. The guys in the show are super sexy and when the take off the shirt I cant help but lose my shit. Overall I think they did a really good job of telling the story and I would watch another season.
