A fluffy cyber fairy tale
Looking for a modern fairy tale which involves a robot? Served. The key elements of a fairy tale are all there, but the author decided to mix a bit the roles, making the story even more funny and amazing. The princess is the prince and the prince is the princess, where the villains are the only ones who keep being actual villains (with some final surprises). Also, the romance is not the sole fil-rouge along the story, but actually there's a content made of amusing entertainment, which lighten the story even when more dramatic parts show up.
I found the plot original in its nonsenses, just because I considered it as a modern fairy tale. So I could even justify some parts, which out of context would sound unbelievable, but which give to the story continuity and genuineness instead.
The actors are brilliant, not only the leads, but also the support ones. Chae Soo Bin and Yoo Seung Ho are constantly immersed in their roles, and successfully render their characters credible and funny.
The only thing I found obnoxious is the split of the traditional 60-75 minutes lasting episodes in two parts of 30-35-ish minutes each: since the show was originally clearly intended made of 16 episodes of the usual duration, very often the transition from odd to even episodes lead to just rudely interrupt a scene.
Amazing, and worth watching.

When you need good romance with no drama!
Rewatched it twice only few months apart, it is definitely one of the best feel good K-drama romance series. You can enjoy the romance pretty well from the beginning.
There is no stupid misunderstandings and problems are sorted out quickly.
No yelling and opposing parents (at least for the main couple).
The FL is emotionally strong and brave woman, not a dumb crybaby.
The ML is nice and forgiving without being softie
The story is unusual and make sense almost all the time (very very rare for kdrama)
There are no big wholes in script.
The focus is on the main couple and the side characters are really supporting the story well.
There is no nerve wracking vilain (the bad guys characters are actually believable).
Awesome series!

At first I was not interested in watching it even though my friends keep on recommending it to me. The way hoe they describe it don't excite me but in the end I found myself watching it for some reasons. First, one of my teacher mentioned it in our class and take note she is an X'ers (from X Generation) so I can't relate to them. Second, because of the main characters. Seung Hoo is not the main character (male) is someone I know after watching his movies - namely; The Magician and Seondal; the man who sold a river which was by the way a great movie. The female lead is one of the character in the Series Sassy Go Go so I know a little bit of her acting skills.
So I watched the series.... and it exceeded my expectation. I started watching it yesterday and I finished it the next day. I just can't believe that the said series is a commercial failure in SoKor but for me it was a great series. You can't judge a series or a movie based on its summary.
I've already convinced some of my friends to watch it and if you still have doubts in watching it please don't. You would find yourself loving it in the end. I am trying to be objective here but I can't since I started loving it. At least I will not be an alien anymore in front of my friends if they start talking about it.

Humorous & Heartfelt
Let me tell you - this show and this romance had me hook, line, and sinker.❤ The romance is the heart and soul of this show. Kim Min Kyu and Jo Ji Ah are electrifying on screen. They each find solace and value in themselves from each other, building each other up even as the lie tears them apart. While I think the lie could have been releveled earlier, I still loved the juxtaposition of it all.
❤ The show featured several other romances outside the main couple, all of which were sweet and funny.
❤ If you've read any of my reviews in the past, you know how much I adore found family. Kim Min Kyu, Jo Ji Ah, and the Santa Maria robotics team are the perfect example of lonely people coming to lean and love each other.
❤ The concept of a robot looking and functioning so much like a human has always fascinated me. How would we as human process such a evolution? While much of the show focuses on the romance, it does explore the actions of such a technology out in the real world. It was such a beautiful and moving experience watching Aji-3's journey from concept to reality.

oh my gosh.
Originally when i first read the title, it kind of through me off because i thought that it would be about a man falling in love with a robot, which honestly isn’t the best storyline. But when i say that it was far from what i expected, i mean it in the best possible way. This is one of the fluffiest, cutest dramas i’ve ever watched.
If you read my Business Proposal review (which is very unlikely) you would know i LOVE cliches. I am the biggest cliche fan you will find. If the drama is about a rich man from this great company, in line to be CEO, and he falls in love with a clumsy, not so rich girl then i am watching it right away. The parents of the rich people died? I know that comes up in most dramas you’ve watched, its so overused and practically comes up in every drama. But no matter what it still catches my eye. I watch it no matter what. And this drama included all the cliches there is. A rich man ✅ no so rich girl ✅ parents have died ✅ a love triangle ✅ the love triangle is fixed by the other girl in the story ✅ someone is always left single by the end of the show ✅ lots of angst, to the point where the main couple breaks up and someone runs away✅ and most of all, a happy ending ✅. It ticks all the boxes, which is more of a reason for you to watch it.
If you are looking for a romantic comedy which fulfils all the cliches you can ever ask for, a romantic comedy that is ACTUALLY funny, a romantic comedy you can watch when you have nothing to watch; then this is really the best drama to cure all your problems.

This is the only drama I watched while it was airing.
I watched snippets of the first episode on Instagram and fell in love with the premise. So I continued watching it while it was airing and for the one time in my life I understood the pain of waiting for a week just for the next episode.I kept on watching the episodes that were already out for a week!!!
Ok. It was fluffy. And cute. But first and foremost, it was touched something in me that made me feel the same emotions that they were feeling:
I think it's because I understood how she felt when no one believed in her creations besides from the male lead. He appreciated and was in awe of her creations despite what others think. As a designer myself, I felt so overcome with emotions when someone appreciated her creations. Something I've always wanted for myself. When he couldn't convince the robot team to leave the female lead robot with him because of his lack of social skills and how he cried on her shoulder. I cried along with him because as a introvert myself, I felt the same every time I come back home since I couldn't socialise with others.
I was so invested in their romance that I cried of happiness and sadness along with them.
So many moments to rewatch. Probably the most underrated show I've watched.

Quirky & Adorable
I started this drama back during its original airtime and stopped at Episode 12. I honestly have no clue why, by that episode things are interesting and you want to continue. Unfortunately for me, revisiting it in 2022 left me with zero clue what happened prior to E12 and had to start over.Story-wise, it is a slow moving drama. I learned that when I got to E16 (what I thought was the last episode), and couldn't understand why there had been ZERO character development. I would say the first 5-6 episodes are a bit painful to get through. yes, you're getting back story and a bit of a feel of how the relationships develop, but it's BORING. When things do finally pick up, you've either already formed your opinion of the drama or you're just meh about the characters because it's taken this long to develop.
The main love triangle is a complete dud and cringey, and just awkward. The support character love triangle is way better to invest in. I loved it.
The acting is ok. Being a romantic style comedy, everything is naturally over dramatic and exaggerated, but if it was without it, I think it would have been a complete dud. The ML & FL do a convincing job in wanting to make you sob with them. Toward the end, I definitely got a bit choked up during parts.
The music is not memorable at all. Aside from the ending theme song, I cannot tell you much about the OST. it didn't stand out.
Re-watch value is non-existent for me.
Overall, I'm glad I went back to finish this drama. It was adorable, the story wasn't uncomfortably cringe, and the characters actually show growth vs the whole "I can't be with you because several unbelievable reasons before we finally get together." For a one and done watch, it's great if you can tough through the first several episodes of fluff.

Guilty pleasure.
I hate to admit how good this drama is, even though the story is so unrational itself. Some scenes would never happen irl, but somehow you end up eating it up and binge watching this k-drama.This drama is just like everyone says, fluffy and cute. At the same time is extremely emotional and makes you tear up sometimes. The male lead is extremely goofy, but in a cute and funny way. If you want to watch something that makes you laugh and cringe, this is definitely for you! However if the last 40 seconds of the ending wasn't really goofy, this drama would have been an 8, since the ending was a bit underwhelming.
Last but not least, I give this drama a 7.5/10.

How to begin? "I Am Not a Robot" tops my list of all-time favorite dramas. Ever. Why?I, for one, enormously enjoyed this drama. I love romantic comedies, so when I saw this was a rom-com starring Yoo Seung Ho, I had to give it a go. The drama was equal parts lovable, fluffy, silly, hilarious, and touching. The premise seemed slightly ridiculous at first, what with a guy who's allergic to humans and a girl who pretends to be a robot, yet also very intriguing. I was curious to find out what exactly put them in that kind of situation, and why the main male lead, Kim Min Kyu, didn't have an allergic reaction to the female lead, Jo Ji Ah, who pretended to be Aji-3. After that, I kept finding more reasons to continue watching. Jo Ji Ah, portrayed by the endearing Chae Soo Bin, is introduced as a strong-willed, determined woman who's trying to make the most of her life by doing what she loves to do: inventing. She possesses an emotional and mental strength that I really admire, and she continues to shine in later episodes when she interacts with Kim Min Kyu. Her deep and intuitive understanding of Min Kyu's feelings and struggles as she gets to know him really drew me further into the show. Min Kyu, in turn, unwittingly supports Ji Ah's ambition and drive to be an inventor who creates things that are needed by people. *START OF MINOR SPOILER* Their symbiotic and emotionally healthy relationship fosters character growth, with Min Kyu learning how to interact properly with others and get along with people, thus allowing him to eventually befriend the Santa Maria team and find his new family, not related by blood, but just as close. *END OF MINOR SPOILER*
I love, love, LOVE that the way they help each other is so innocuous and yet pivotal and crucial in their respective lives. Ji Ah needed that extra push and encouragement when she was feeling down to achieve her dream of being an inventor, while Min Kyu needed the emotional support and scaffolding that she provided to start his own growth and bring his kindness out of his inner shell, allowing him to overcome his loneliness and lack of human connection. The overarching theme of human connection in this drama makes it extremely powerful and compelling to watch. What everyone needs, but often forgets, is that emotional connection to other people, since it allows them to express themselves, to not feel alone, and to find purpose in life. "I Am Not a Robot" takes a unique approach to this topic by exploring this theme through a remarkably human-like robot (android), who then is mainly substituted with an actual human. The stark contrast of this portrayal of human and robot, namely how the human Ji Ah expresses emotions and understands Min Kyu while the robot Aji-3 can only understand emotions on a conceptual level and imitate humans, emphasizes the fact that being able to feel emotion is at the core of what makes us human. This topic gets kind of philosophical as Min Kyu is conflicted over whether or not a robot can actually feel things, and he discusses this with Pi and Hong Baek Gyun, who take things pretty much at face value and argue that Aji-3 can only mimic emotions through learning from humans.
Getting a little off topic. Anyways, besides all of these deep and meaningful themes addressed by this drama, Yoo Seung Ho and Chae Soo Bin, as well as the rest of the main cast, do a stellar job of portraying their characters. Yoo Seung Ho and Chae Soo Bin possess some incredible and intense, yet still innocent, chemistry on-screen, which truly makes this drama worth watching. They are fully relaxed around each other and feel at home around one another, and they just bring the best out in each other. Their interactions in behind-the-scenes clips make you fall in love with the drama and their characters even more, as they are super comfortable with each other and just plain cute together.
I also love the character growth the writers included for the second male lead, Hong Baek Gyun (played by the hilarious Uhm Ki Joon), as he started out super oblivious and naive, in a sense, but really reflected on his past mistakes and learned from them, working hard to fix those flaws after he realized he had them. The rest of the Santa Maria team is also just lovable and all-around adorably sweet. Their interactions with each other and close bond that later extends to include Min Kyu and Ji Ah are super charming, and they provide for a lot of comic relief and fun times. They are also incredibly genuine in their feelings, which is something that Min Kyu really needs and comes to love. Ji Ah's best friend is also an awesome friend; she's supportive, truly wants what's best for her friend, and just a cool person to talk to and help her through things. Her niece is a real scene-stealer, since she's adorable, but also quite clever in her own right. Her scene with Min Kyu is one of my favorites.
I truly recommend this drama if you want something light-hearted, yet really meaningful.
