I watched this drama ages ago. At the time, I didn't have reasons to watch dramas, I only watch anything that seems interesting.
This drama was one of the first Korean dramas that I saw and one of the fewest melodramas that I was invested in.
2) Storyline/Plot:
It's a melodrama so you can prepare yourself for crying and so but I have to point out that the story wasn't like any other melodrama that I've seen before.
Positive points:
*The beginning of the drama was well explained plus script writers did a great job when it comes to the storyline's development.
*The feelings were mixed up in a way that we could get in touch with an amazing burst of emotions.
*Sad events were very emotional in a way that would touch the heart and soul.
Negative points:
*I always thought that this drama was way too emotional to the point that it may fall into other common tragedies.
Story: 8.5/10
3)Acting/Cast:
Generally speaking, this dramas actors knew how to deliver feelings in a perfect way allowing us to feel pain, suffer, sadness and the injustice of life. The lead actress attracted my intention by her great acting skills.
Cast: 8/10
Acting: 8.5/10
4) The ending:
Heartbreaking yet awesome, I wouldn't like it if it ended otherwise because it fits the drama's genre perfectly.
The ending: 9/10
5) My impression (How did it affect me):
*I don't actually like melodramas but this one was a great exception.
*Considering the fact that I watched this ten years ago, this is an unforgettable drama that will never die.
*I felt sadness while watching this drama and the friend who watched it with me didn't stop crying the whole drama.
My impression: 9/10
6) Overall:
*If you like tragedies and impossible love stories than you would love this.
*If you're into tearjerker melodramas then this is for you.
Overall: 8.5/10.

Makyang at its finest. Staged with great sensitivity. A rollercoaster ride of emotions guaranteed!
Back then, in 2000, "Autumn Tale" kicked off the celebrated "Endless Love Series" and is (like the other 3) a hit. Timeless. Heartbreaking in the face of life's unfairness. Bittersweet and tragic. "Autumn Tale" offers makjang at its finest. All of this is staged with great sensitivity. A rollercoaster ride of emotions guaranteed! Two siblings who aren't actually siblings - but nobody knows. A momentous decision when it comes out randomly. Outrageously mean intrigues. And an unshakable bond of love that (nevertheless) must not be. Because even if you might dare to rebel against the family, there is always another stroke of fate.
It is always possible for things to turn out worse - this is a promise, KDrama Land can surely give!"Autumn Tale" is prove of that. And as always with makjang: an enormous capacity for sympathy, suffering and compassion is a prerequisite for 'enjoying' this KDrama. Makjang could be considered a reinvention and revival of the idea of catharsis in connection with the Greek tragedy. On the roller coaster of human feelings between greed, love, betrayal, hate and forgiveness and suffering, scolding, laughing, crying, the moment of empathizing with the emotional processes of the protagonists can have a liberating effect. (All 4 KDramas of the "Endless Love Series" - "Winter Sonata", "Summer Scent" and "Spring Waltz", too - are actually great at ´that´. You better be prepared and ready for it... if you are, you won´t be disappointed!

Before I watched this I read previous reviews and most of them gave it a 10/10 for almost every area of the drama.
For me this is how it goes.....
Story: The genera suggests melodrama and romance, this is OVER THE TOP melodrama drama i EVER watched in my entire be it Asian or Western. The amount of crying scenes in this drama is just to much. I skipped almost every scene after Episode 7. Although the love story and the twists and turns were catchy it was TO MUCH.
Acting: these people's acting would make you believe they are actually hurting in real life. All actors gave it 100%.
Music, was not bad
Rewath Value. In all honest dont waste your time watching it again, better off watching another drama.
Overall: despite receiving very good reviews from fellow MDLs, i think this drama was given to much credit, despite the great acting and OK love story it was just unbearable and to much to handle.
Please anyone that's planing to watch this, please let me know your thoughts message me on here. :)

So sad and heart wrenching...
I don't really know why the rating for this drama is a 7.6 but it was really good. Before you start watching though, let me warn you that you're gonna cry a river.Story: It's so depressing and sad and heartbreaking... The ending sucked but eh I wasn't too iffy about it because I kinda expected it. I didn't understand why the main character didn't/ couldn't do anything to help his love... I felt like this drama wasn't really that realistic and some parts I can certainly argue against. This drama was original (sorta) and definitely different from the kdramas you see now. Definitely a classic kdrama.
Acting/Cast: Great acting. Not much to say.
Music: THE MUSIC MAKES YOU WANT TO CRY HARDER.
Rewatch Value: Nah not trying to bawl my eyes out lol...
Overall: I recommend this if you wanna watch something depressing and cry your eyes out. Welcome romance lovers, tragedy lovers, and melodrama lovers. On an extra note, it was so depressing that my head was legit hurting afterwards. I'm not a usual tragic story watcher.

Honestly, I’m not much of a fan when it comes to heavy drama because I tend to really get carried away but then this drama got showed in all its soap opera feeling. It just became too hard to ignore that I had to seat it through and finish it up to the last episode. I would be proud to say that I only cried once around the ending part.
It wasn’t much like the melodrama I have encountered lately whereas in every episode you just had to grovel and cry out loud in sadness or frustration. Autumn Tale was something more on the side of frustrating with this sense of bittersweet romanticism all throughout the show. If it’s possible to pull out all my hair during the first half of the drama I would have done so because it has that redundancy of I’m-not-yours-you’re-not-mine-we’re-not-for-each-other-so-let’s-just-forget-about-everything then it will go back to being I-know-you-love-me-and-we-love-each-other-so-let’s-stay-together-and-forget-everything. Having that out, why on earth am I recommending this?
Because Autumn Tale is worth the sound track, worth the backdrop, worth of SONG HYE KYO herself. The root of the story line may have been too much (having babies exchanged at birth??? puhleeeeeaaaassseee… not again) but the overall concept of the story is worth the watch. The characters themselves and the actor’s and actresses’ portrayal of their roles were amazing that you get to feel all that love, that hurt and that desperation. I say give it a try because it’s just that good despite the short comings.

Heart-wrenching love story
This was a tough one - your heart would ache and crumble into multiple pieces. Han Taesuk was the epitome of a good second lead. He was never selfish and was very dedicated to his love for Eunsuh. Compared to its so-called rival, "Stairway to Heaven," I personally think that this drama was somehow a bit bland. There weren't any diverse emotions to be felt when watching the drama. I didn't even think there were any antagonists at all. All of the characters' personalities were admirable, even Yumi and Shinae, who were supposed to be the antagonists in the story. Was this review helpful to you?

A great love story
I just finished watching the last episode of this beautiful butt bittersweet drama. The tears are still rolling down my cheeks and I will probably cry for awhile.Where do I begin? First of all the actors all did an amazing job. They were not only cast perfectly but portrayed the emotions necessary for these very emotional and deep drama.
The complex relationships between all the characters kept me riveted to the screen. I actually watch all 16 episodes in 3 days.
The love between Joon Shue and Eun Shue was beautiful and the unselfish love of Tae Suk was equally inspiring and admirable. I can understand why this drama made these three actors famous.
If you have not seen this drama I highly recommend you do.

A simple tale of a rich-poor young female children who are in the same school in the end both found out that they were switched at birth. Then the story unfolds to something that is heartbreaking. You will later on see the struggles of the 2 female children and how they both live their separate lives, especially the poor female child. It is a emotional heavy roller coaster experience as it heavily focused on the character that's played by Song Hye Kyo & the rivalry of the 2 men that are both her love. Her life ended tragically and in the end (spoiler) the last person who got to spend time with her is Joon-suh. It was a tale of family drama at first but grew towards to melo-romance in the end. The forbidden romance was built up nicely especially towards the second half and the anger/resentment of the original female child had interesting development. Though how i wish the family dynamic was played alot better.
The performances that left a good impression in me were Song Hye Kyo & Won Bin. They simply understood their character & the thought of grief.
