aepete carried
yeah uh, I'm not ashamed to admit at all that this got a much higher score than it probably should be because I'm mostly rating it based on 1 couple out of 4 lolaepete are just sweet. something about them just tugs at my heartstrings but not in a painful way. i love saint's acting, and i love ae's character, (who seems heavily demisexual coded to me, even if I would say that's probably NOT intentional lmao). I don't know. they're SO cute and maybe a bit cliche but this is one of those instances where cliche tropes can be done right. i'm rewatching an aepete cut of the show for like the 4th time as i'm writing this review. i really adore these two so i'm clearly very biased...
tincan are actually.....okay? the dynamic is kinda funny and is a good contrast to the instantly soft and sweet dynamic aepete settle into, but i still struggled to feel any actual romantic chemistry between the two. the dead fish kisses certainly didn't help, but they also actually make sense to be dead fish kisses in context so i'm not blaming those.....but yeah they still didn't help lol. their back and forths can be entertaining though, especially if you find Can's stupid antics to be more funny than annoying.
KlaNo.................................................honestly. my major problem with this storyline isn't even with the rape or unhealthy one-sided obsession, but because of how the rape gets treated within the show. the rape isn't cool either mind you, but what makes me actually Hate this storyline is that Techno's rape gets played off for comedy?? like you're supposed to laugh at his confused and ridiculous faces the morning after? i'm usually fine with darker storylines, and from TumTar's story it's clear that the show does know how to not play off rape as a comedic thing so them choosing to still do so is deeply annoying.
TumTar. something about them just made me......deeply uncomfortable. even if nothing happened here like with KlaNo's storyline. good on you for actually treating Tar's assault with the seriousness it deserves though, I guess.

Love by Chance (2018) is a delightful drama; however, it contains insupportable themes
Let’s start with the story, shall we? Love by Chance is mostly a pleasant drama with some main issues to discuss. The initial interaction of the main couple was cliche. It was the typical way of how love stories start in several romantic films and series; however, the charm of the scene was undeniable as well as the chemistry. The progression of the relationship between Ae and Pete was gradual , which was good because I noticed in some BL dramas that the relationship of the couples were fast paced that it becomes unrealistic. In the case of Ae and Pete, we were able to enjoy the sweet interactions of the main couple. There are key points about the main story that I would like to discuss. The first one is the “coming out” scene of Pete to his mom. I loved how the drama portrayed his struggles in sharing the truth about his sexuality to his parent and generally, as a gay character. The confrontation between the mother and child was really emotional and heart warming. The second point was the exploration of Ae’s sexuality. I loved how Ae handled his feelings towards Pete. He was there for Pete as a companion during his struggles which was really admirable. The way he assessed his feelings with the help of Pond, the adorable main shipper of Ae and Pete, were good scenes.
Lastly, I have to separate this paragraph because it focuses on the intimate and emotional scenes of Ae and Pete. The chemistry between Saint and Perth was really strong. There were different kinds of kisses such as aggressive, sweet and passionate. I could see that Saint was really immersed in acting as well as Perth during their intimate scenes. What really made me squeal like a teenage girl was their first time. Although it was kind of obvious that it was rehearsed and to be honest, a little stiff, there was still a natural vibe to it. I would like to point out the way Saint and Perth executed the first bed scene. Remember the part where he followed Ae’s lips when they were kissing? I love how Saint was closing his eyes, putting appropriate facial expressions as well as moving his body somehow in order for the scene to seem believable. In addition, the song was wonderful. It truly made me “feel” and enjoy the scene. The next intimate scene was more passionate and a little aggressive. The difference between the two was apparent - the “first time” was a little sweet and awkward while the second one was enthusiastic and comfortable. It really did exhibit the attraction of two teenage boys. In accordance with this, Saint and Perth were both good rookie actors. They have a potential to be great experienced actors in the future.
The story of Tin and Can was too fast paced for me. I didn’t see the process of falling in love and instead, it was just suddenly there. Based on Tin’s character, the ability to like Can should’ve been gradual. Since there was kind of antagonism, I think the dislike towards each other should slowly disappear, followed by tolerance and eventually became acquaintances; moreover, in my opinion, it will be better if during the process, Tin would undergo character development and eventually open up to Can where the sudden possessiveness and pursuit would begin. I guess it is understandable since they are the second couple and the story would have to fit in a specific time frame.
On the other hand, Tum and Tar was enough as fillers but I won’t be able to give a deep review since there wasn’t enough material for me to create one. It was the same as Tin and Can, which were both fast paced. I could say though that the story deserves to be explored more. The theme provided an interesting issue to focus on (sexual assault) and I would like to see more of Tar’s story (trauma); moreover, I didn’t like how Tum forced himself to Tar. In accordance with this, Techno and Kengkla has the most bothering story in LBC. There was rape, deception and manipulation in it. I hate how the story of Techno and Kengkla ended in the season. It was disturbing because I couldn’t see even a slight hesitation in Kengkla’s face. I was really sad because I would’ve liked if they portrayed Kengkla’s “stubborn” attitude, intelligence and determination in a different way or they could’ve toned it down. The limit I could accept was the motorcyle part. Other than that, I really couldn’t tolerate the other planned events. I really loved the main idea on how Techno, a responsible naive and likeable guy, thought that Kengkla was innocent but really has a dark side. I just really wished they didn’t include rape and extreme manipulation.
Overall, Love by Chance is an enjoyable drama that you could rewatch and still obtain the same satisfaction. Although I didn’t quite like some of its themes but I would still recommend it to some people who are looking for a BL drama.

Honest Review
This series was good, it definitely had it moments, but here's my thoughts on the 4 main couple...Ae & Pete - This was my favorite couple out of the 4, there story was more complex and had more depth to it then then others, they had little drama here and there but overall they were just two horny teens falling in love each other & they always looked at each other like they were going to devour each other and I loved it. I did love when Pete came out to his mom & at first she was crying but overall love him and wanted him to be happy, I love that they didn't make her the typical homophobic parent that a lot of BL's do. She even know Pete was dating Ae without him even telling her and she was just so happy.
Tin & Can - This is my least favorite couple (I haven't seen S2 so maybe my opinion will change) but Tin drove me crazy, sometimes I didn't want to finish because I couldn't watch with him anymore, and Can was just to whinny for me. What bothered me is Tin always told Pete that the "Thai program" kids are always dirty and looking for their money BUT when Tin started liking Can he literally bought him everything and got offended when Can said No, also he touched Can & let Can in his car after saying he was dirty, but didn't even apologize for saying that or saying he was wrong about the "program" kids.
Kla & No - We didn't really get to see their relationship much, we just know that P'No's brothers friend liked him, We seen Techno more with Can then we did we Kla, so I don't really have much to say
Tum & Tar - I don't understand their relationship so I don't have much about them either, I would've like to hear more on Tars story a little bit.

This. This. This. THIS! Pete and Ae are serious relationship goals. Aghhhh. In the beginning of the show, Ae never makes Pete feel bad about being gay or that they have to draw boundaries in their friendship because of it. Ae is always extremely honest with Pete and never lets misunderstandings survive between them. This develops a strong trust between them. When Ae starts having romantic feelings, he tells Pete about them. When he feels jealous, he tells Pete about it. What I love best is that Ae is not dumb about Pete's feelings. He guesses that Pete feels romantically for him and he says that he can tell the way Pete looks at him is different from the way he looks at others. So may characters like Ae can't take a hint if it hits them in the face, but Ae doesn't press Pete, but is very aware of the way they treat each other. I love that Ae wants to see Pete constantly, even before they start dating.
Let's talk about the physical stuff. Man, LBC really goes for it on that regard. Rather than a chaste kiss here and there, Pete and Ae can't keep their hands (mouths, bodies, lives) off of each other). I am usually happy for a few kisses in a drama, but this goes way beyond it. To borrow a phrase from Maggie Steifvater, both boys were hungry, but Ae had been starving longer. Once he touches Pete, it's like the floodgates were opened. He can be gentle, or throw Pete against a locker long enough to get his tie off. What is great is that Ae always checks for consent with Pete, when it's their first kisses or when they have sex, Ae always make sure Pete is OK with it. Bless poor Ae for needing to google how to have sex with Pete, but it's good to see that he is fairly insecure, even when he acts so confidently with Pete. The physical side of their relationship is built up on how strong their emotional bond is.
So, Pete has to come out to his mom in episode 1 and she is my hero. She is sure to make sure Pete knows she loves him not matter who he loves. She fully embraces his independence and Ae. She can tell that Ae is a good man and is wholly supportive of them. I always love when a drama goes for a supportive parent, especially because it makes such a difference in LGBT relationships. I am glad they show Ae meeting Pete's mom and her approving of him. It's very important to have this kind of representation in this age.
Let's talk about Pond. I was super annoyed by how openly perverse he is (who watches porn this openly???), but he is a surprisingly complex character. Although he is overly nosy, he really does want to support Ae. He may tease him but is happy to give him advice and set him up on dates. He even offers to buy Ae lube and slips him condoms. Ae doesn't want this much interference, but it's so nice that Pond really looks out for him. What really pushed Pond over the top for me is his experience with ChaAim (Cherreen Nachjaree Horvejkul), who you may recognize from Puppy Honey.
He is so aggressively flirtatious with her at first, but when they finally start dating, he is so respectful of her body and choices. He is willing to go at her pace and never wants to pressure her. Really he has even more restraint than Ae does. I wasn't sure how they were going to resolve the way he is, but ChaAim handles him perfectly. Pond needs someone who can boss him around a little bit and ChaAim is perfect at that. Moreso, I love how supportive Pond and ChaAim are of Ae/Pete. Neither makes them feel weird about their relationship and I love the scenes with all four of them together. Actually this show is overwhelmingly supportive of Ae/Pete overall. It has a good message of tolerance.
Let's talk about Tin/Can. I think this show draws out their antagonism too long. I love hate to love relationships, but Tin is just a jerk for way too long. Pete gives him too much leeway. I get that he's got trust issues, but you can't just treat people like garbage without repercussions. In that sense, Can is a perfect foil. He doesn't let Tin get away with anything, which makes him more trustworthy to Tin. I think the change in Tin happens too fast. He goes from hating to pursuing him really quickly. No wonder Can has whiplash. Still, it's great to see Tin soften up. He is much more handsome when he is being vulnerable and kind.
I think aside from these stories, LBC is trying to tell too much. There's also a will they/won't they? thing with two stepbrothers and a weird high school student chasing the soccer coach thing. The story-lines are so randomly inserted and spread out that I just really didn't care about them. I was somewhat invested in the stepbrothers storyline, but the whole story is like less than one episode long. I don't think it builds it up enough and the entire story is just the younger brother keeping a secret while the older brother is supportive. It just didn't mesh well with the rest of the show. If they were going to keep these stories in, they should have built them up a bit. Otherwise, I'm just not sure it's worth keeping them in.
Final Grade: A

4 couples and 4 different stories. This series for me gave that mark in such a way of sweetness but I'm still looking for the balance in the cameo of the series. Because AePete got almost 75% of the cameo in this series and the other three couples are almost left behind in their own stories.
Acting - 8.0
The actors really portrayed their own roles. I feel the chemistry between woth their partners but I think sometimes it feels like a little bit awkward in terms of their acting for me.
Music- 9.5
Even though I am not from Thailand when there opening song played I can sing it all along. I like the feel the vibe and for me it is really eye catching.
Re-watch value - 8.0
Even though the stories of the 4 couples for me is a little bit common when I actually re-watch the series , I just feel like they got me over and over again.
Overall - 8.5
This series is not bad at all for me, they just really achieve their own objective and that is to make the audience to feel that sweetness and love that they wanted to be.

This is one of the strongest BLs I´ve seen, and I´ve seen a lot. I just feel like it had everything needed to make a good series. It felt very authentic and natural. I loved every couple shown, and I´m glad they had a natural development of the relationship and there wasn´t any insta love. I had a lot of steamy scenes very well done and they didn´t beat around the bush. I´m still salty about them not making a season 2, because a lot of things are now unresolved, I´m especially sad for TinCan cause they were my favorite, but I still have hope. ONE OF BEST series for BL lovers!
By Being 'One of the BEST' BL I mean, you will find every minute, every second, Every Moment, Smiling, Adoring, Flowing with the story. Forgetting all the 'Fantasy' part similar that 2 Moons the series had, you could believe and learn from few Rich Men's life. They processed the Lights of "Love" in every milisecond of the episode that will make you fall in the series.BEST PART OF THIS BL
? Follows the Novel strictly and projects it very well, where several other series fails easily to do so. Storyline, though typical based on school scenes, passes through your heart following with details.
?Has Multiple couples. They are strong enough too that you will probably love them equally than main couple.
?Acting is 10 of 10. Their cuteness, frustrations, jealousy, drama mood, drunken scene, naughty attitude all flavours are extremely clean that your heart will bounce seeing their acting.
?Music is... i dunno what to say. Thai Music is, was and will be Great even if series is not good music will give you life. "Wish this love" OST by Boy Sompob is too much romantic.
? Straight guy and girl will collect lots of love even though you are for BL here.
? Accidentally watch it and fall in love, what are you waiting for XD
What I dont like is :
One couple gets incomplete ending that might break your heart.
If you believe in official tweets, chances of Season 2 is Like "No S2".
Not for those who want something like SOTUS or Chinese Wild insane lovestory.

I really enjoyed this series and i wasn't expecting it to move me this way. All the couples were excellent in acting and knew how to show deep emotions. My favorite couple was Pete and Ae. Initially i thought they were moving too fast with their feelings but got to understand it that when you finally find the one you just can't wait. They quite funny and at the same time touching.
For Can and Tin, i liked the way Tin tried to express his love in a way only he could understand but he should know that Can is just too naive to know anything about love. But i hope the Season 2 brings them together faster course i can't wait.
P'No and N'Kla were quite funny too but not much can be said for them though.
Tar and Tum too were amazing in their acting. I really liked Tar's acting even though there were a few scenes.
Overall i loved this series. It was great watching it.

Cute
The main love story, Pete & Ae, is the cutest and most wholesome story. I kept watching this for them. The story between Tin and Can was also sweet and had its moments (though sometimes things were coerced and not entirely consensual). I wasn't really interested in Tar & Tum. But the storyline that bothered me the most was Kengkla & Techno - Kengkla technically raped Techno but we're supposed to see this as the start of a relationship? Oof. No, thank you. Apart from that, the story was pretty good! Was this review helpful to you?
