A classic of classics

A classic of classics, and you won't let me lie.
An interesting and entertaining plot about our beloved Go Mi Nam, who pretends to be her twin brother to save her own skin in Angel, a famous South Korean band that's looking for a fourth member, precisely Go Mi Nyu, the twin. The story unfolds in a fun way, creating unforgettable moments that made me cry with laughter and remember it fondly.
Let's keep in mind that this is an old-school kdrama, so the role-playing of superiority-inferiority between the protagonists is very pronounced, and that might upset you a little. Still, it's an unforgettable series with a great cast.

I rewatched lots of dramas lately and was pleased with how enjoyable You're Beautiful still is.

STORY
The only original part of the story is the fact that the girl dressed as a boy is part of a Kpop Group. It's well-written by the Hong sisters and the only weak point for me, as always with their dramas, is the ending. They know how to create a story and how to create problems but never really know how to resolve the said-problems and finish the story, the ending was just meh.

CHARACTERS/CAST
Loved the characters and their dynamic.
Jang Geun Suk is perfect as Hwang TaeKyung, this actor is so underrated for some reason and it's a pity. His character is hilarious and endearing, touching as well and I loved it.
Not gonna lie, I'm not a Park Shin Hye fan but I find her tolerable in this drama considering the very (very very) naive and innocent character she plays.
As a big FT Island & CN Blue fan I just cannot express enough my love for Lee Hongki & Jung Yonghwa.
It's Yonghwa's first role so of course it's not flawless but it's acceptable. His character is pretty much gazing much of the time.
Hongki as Jeremy is the highlight, the comic-relief. His character is the most tolerant, a pity he's not more developed. The "chuka-party" are cult & he made me laugh so many times.
Gotta hate Yoo HeYi and love UEE.

MUSIC
I'm pretty sure ANJELL was many fans' first kpop group aha. With two main vocals in the cast, the music couldn't get any better.

A fun old school rom com!

I’ve seen this drama around 4 times and I love it every time I watch it. it’s one of the first kdramas I watched! the characters, the story, the plot twist, it’s always so surprising and fun! if you like the manga Hana Kimi and Skip Beat! This is the perfect story for you. there is one scene where there is a poor choice in costume design (night club scene and it’s the hat. if you know you know) but otherwise the costumes, the songs, storyline is truly memorable. give it a try and witness the greatness that is this oldie but goodie.

i can see why it's so popular!

first of all, i must thank Jung Yong Hwa oppa for being one of the casts in the drama LOL, he's the reason i feel compelled to watch this. if not because of this drama, most likely i would not have found Jang Geun Suk oppa who then became my ULTIMATE bias in kdramaland ever, kekeke.

in terms of story, i think the story is really lacking. i have not watched Coffee Prince, and i am not someone who actually would ever choose gender bender love stories. i mean the story would be quite standard all-across, a girl for some reason had to pretend to be a boy and live with a group of boys, and slowly the male lead discovered that she's a girl and eventually fell in love with her. the writers would try to introduce some conflicts or tensions to separate the two apart, but the ending is always a happy ending LOOOOOL! i could be a writer-nim too if the level of story-telling is always this simple and shallow.

and that's exactly what this drama has given us. but i think what really stands out most particularly in this drama is the three male leads, especially Jang Keun Suk as Hwang Tae Kyung. MAN, HE'S SO FCKIN GORGEOUS! his deep voice, the way he portrays the character of a superstar, his gorgeous face, his spiky hair LOL i love everything about him. this is definitely one of the weak-to-average scripts that is really lucky because they managed to secure the perfect casts to play the lead characters.

with regards to second and third lead syndrome, they left me with bitter taste in my mouth. especially the second lead syndrome with Kang Shi Woo, i am mad because the writers really just put him on the main love triangle to screw him over and play with us. that feels so sh*tty. he was repeatedly stood up and that was so uncomfortable to watch. i mean he seriously deserved better. the writers should have given us some moments where Go Mi Nam sincerely relied on Shi Woo, so that our memory of the second lead syndrome was not that he was always rejected and cast aside. that was painful!

also the third lead syndrome with Jeremy, wow i salute Hong Ki's acting on the bus when he finally found out that the girl liked their hyung. he's such an angel, a breath of fresh air in the midst of our heartache observing kind-hearted Shi Woo who was always dejected and Tae Kyung who's always grumpy, moody and arrogant LOL.

i have said this in many places but i will write here one last time. Jang Keun Suk would have made THE most perfect Gu Jun Pyo in BoF. his portrayal of someone with deep/intense and dark charisma of a true tsundere is really spot on, and is really similar to how Matsumoto Jun played Domyouji Tsukasa. gahh one can wish~

any dramas with Jang Keun Suk oppa has perfect rewatch value for me, JUST FOR THAT SMILE. yeah i live for it. gosh oppa, you're so fckin perfect and i discovered you so late. I LOVE YOU.

i fall in love!!(•ө•)♡

When I saw them for the first time I fell in love with all of them!
At first I didn't like Tae-kyung's character at all but then I started to like him... he has a beautiful smile!! ♡
Park Shin-hye is so beautiful as a boy! She is very cute! (•ө•)♡
I cried when Jeremy sang on the radio, I have a lot of affection for him... actually I would have liked there to be some story between him and Mi-nyeo...
Anyway, I wish A.N.Jell was real!

Re-watching for the nth time

The first time I watched this, I found myself cheering for Jeremy, likely because I was too young to grasp the full story. However, after countless re-watches, I finally see why Minam chose Taekyung. I don't think Taekyung is "rude" when he’s really just proud and straightforward.
His action towards Minam are much more apparent, which made her affection for him resonate deeply. Plus, knowing their parents had a history together suggests that their destinies were intertwined.
In terms of acting, production quality, and soundtrack, nothing can surpass the original. This remains the best.
JGS truly excelled in portraying a "tsundere" character; his subtle expressions were spot on. His looks and charisma were at their peak during this time.
The only aspect I found disappointing was Yoo He-yi's character; she lacked development throughout the series. Additionally, the ending felt a bit rushed.

This kdrama is genius.

This kdrama is genius. I watched it when i was 17 and rewatched it now when I am 24 and enjoyed it just as much, if not even more. It gave such a nostalgic feeling, though despite being almost 15 years old, this kdrama feels fresh and timeless. I will explain why i think it's genius:

1. First of all, it's the Y\N dream come true. Everyone who was going crazy about some band in 2000s/2010s or maybe even now will enjoy this a lot. As a huge One Direction fan who lived the crazy fangirl life for years, including reading some Y\N fantasies, shipping band members and reading dramatic fanfictions, i think this kdrama pictured the feeling of those days perfectly.

It also includes boys with 3 different personality types/images that are generally liked by many:

Shin Woo is the handsome, romantic guy, perfect gentleman, prince charming, the knight in shining armor who would do anything for his love and keep fighting until the end.
Jeremy is the kind, funny and cheerful type of charismatic guy - a sweetheart.
And finally - Tae Kyung with the mysterious/dark personality, sarcastic and sassy at times. He has kind of a villain/anti-hero vibes. (My personal favorite)

They all fall in love with Mi-nyeo (Y\N dream, i repeat) and therefore there are 3 different types of love stories (altough only one worked out):
The typial romantic story with Shin Woo.
The best friends to lovers/ adventerous/ happy stroy with Jeremy.
The enemies to lovers story with Tae Kyung (again my favorite!! At it was perfectly represented here, with many ups and downs.)

2. Secondly, the drama is soooooooooo funny. It's acctually hilarious! The plot is atually pretty heavy at times, but every episode makes you feel good, beause they have perfectly balanced it with humor!!!

3. The actors did a great job, even the side chrachters were amazing!!The Manager Ma was such a funny character for example.

4. THE MUSIC is PERFECT!!!! Even the lyrics have so much meaning. Apart from the official soundtracks, hearing some hits from 2000s occasionally (like Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga etc) gives such a nostalgic feeling.

There were some things i didn't enjoy that much. For example the story with Shin Woo was dragged on for so long, i wish he didnt have to go through so much heartbreak. (But then those things also happen in real life)
Also, the last 1-2 episodes were a bit messy and repetitive, with Mi-nyeo leaving then coming back then leaving again and coming back again, same with Tae Kyung . Though the main target audience of the drama are teenagers (don't get me wrong i enjoyed it a lot at 24 as well and i think adults can also like it), so those things should not be taken too seriosly. It was overall a perfect drama and is timeless!!!

This show feels like a classic now, especially considering this was one of Park Shin Hye's sillier/more passive roles. It was recommended to me a couple years ago, before I had become familiar with kpop. It's definitely a show for a beginner and has the right amounts of drama and romance associated, but doesn't take itself too seriously. If you watch the Kdrama LOLs on Youtube, this show is on the series, and it shows you all the dumb and ridiculous moments this show has to offer. Regardless, it's quite funny and unique. This is one of the only shows of Jang Keun Suk's that I can watch anymore. He often plays an arrogant character that softens up and exposes his troubles. I also thought that having Jung Yong Hwa from CNBlue and Lee Hong-Gi from FT Island, made this show that much better, even though they weren't really actors at the time.

I have recently watched this drama for a second time and I still loved it even though I knew how it would end. I loved the cast and thought they were perfect I loved Jeremys childish innocence and I hated Yoo He Yi I admired the mature and sophisticated Kang Shin Woo. I wanted to smack Hwang Tae Kyung around the head for his arrogance. I cried with Go Mi Nam when she had bad times and smiled like an idiot when she had good times. Watching dramas made in the U.K or America never seem to evoke the emotions that I get with Asian dramas and more often than not I end up losing interest or hate the main character. I loved the soundtrack and I enjoyed the plot line as when I first watched this drama it was unique.

This drama made me cry of sadness on the last episode because I would miss it! I rewatched it many times! It's totally a classic! and the characters? Down to earth to me! Hongki, Yonghwa, and JGS are all amazing actors. Probably my favorites! This drama is a very very good romance. Between 3 boys and 1 girl. And the cross dressing? and secrets? Make it BETTER (in my opinion). It's one of the best out there, that'll have you crying, laughing, and jumping around your room.! So don't even think a second to go to Dramafever, Youtube, Viki, etc. and watch it! It stars 4 of the most popular actors. You won't regret watching it. I surely didn't. So watch it!

This was my very first drama and i am glad that i started with such a wonderful one....I watched it 3 to 4 years ago and still this is my most favourite drama....i can rewatch it any number of times and doesn't get bored at all....

Story:
The story line may somewhat seem cliche to many people but that is what makes it so memorable and best...It keeps you always fresh and never disappoint you even in one episode....The development of love between the leads is so realistic and lovely....some people may have second lead syndrome at first (even i had it) but subsequently you will start to like the main lead more....

Acting:
The main reason for this show to get so much popularity is definitely because of the casting... They were apt to the name you're beautiful... And also they did a great job in portraying their roles....Especially Jang geun suk was awesome as Hwang tae kyung...

Music :
This was my first time getting inspired from lyrics and music of another language.... the ost " Without Words" was just awesome..... still one of my favourite ost...also all the other ost were good...since this was a musical drama i had great expectations for music and it definitely satisfied me

Rewatch :
I can definitely say you can rewatch this any number of times without getting bored...such an amazing drama

Overall :
It is a 10/10 for me....I cannot say it is the best drama generally (for me it is the best) but it will surely be a memorable and close to heart one....you will surely enjoy it...

I have no idea why everybody like it sooo much. It was nice but no more. For sure not one of my favourites and I'm not coming back to this drama. Even songs weren't so good although it was the main plot :/
