The trailer was impressive you would think that the movie has so much adrenaline rush but nah, it was boring, a heavy let down from the drama version. It felt like I wasted my time with this. The actions weren't great, just a typical punch and jump, nothing more. Kim Ah Joong was fine, Ma Dong Seok was good, but Jang Ki Young really needs to improve his acting skills. He is one of the main stars in the movie yet his presence was mostly supporting at best. The whole gang didn't have chemistry and the plot isn't interesting. It's rare for me to rate a movie low but I never really enjoyed this, it was a big disappointment.

It's Chaotic Alright

Let me state first that Bad Guys: Reign of Chaos has nothing to do with the horrid sequel to the Bad Guys drama. This movie takes place as if that sequel never existed...thank God!

The Mad Dogs are unleashed again. The only returnees from the drama are the captain and the "gangster"/muscle. The fighter/assassin and the brain are no shows. However, Jo Dong Hyuk does make a cameo appearance explaining why his character does not join the fight. Two new characters are added, but they in no way make up for the 2 that we lost. Jang Ki Young's new character seemed to be the new fighter. The problem is he kept getting beat up. The character of Jessica is supposed to be analytical ... I think. She falls short.

The movie is all brawn and no muscle. There is little to no actual story development. Don Lee's Woong Chul wants to solve the murder of an old friend. While he has a 2 day pass from prison the Mad Dogs are called out to investigate something else. Of course everything connects in a nice little bow. There is little to no investigation and no suspense. It's really action scene, a little talking, action scene. There is no character development for our new players. The script and directing should have been better. The fight choreo was fantastic though. Basically, the movie hinges on Lee's face punching, wrist breaking, man throwing, door smashing prowess. He's the Hulk in black clothing.

The movie has a very good cast that is totally wasted. Don Lee can do much more than punch stuff. Truly, he can. I've seen him do it. I'm not sure why Jang's and Kim Ah Joong's new characters were there. They didn't do all that much. Actually, I liked Kim's character, Jessica, before she joined the team.

If I get into a mood where I just want the good guys to win and beat the heck out of a bunch of baddies, then I'd re-watch not because it's a great movie. The music was good and an asset. If you saw the original, you might as well watch this movie, especially if there are more planned.

Very disappointing follow up to a very good drama (minor spoilers)

All the interesting characterization from the drama is turned into a bunch of boring cliches and two of the best characters from the drama aren't really in the movie. Tae-soo (Jo Dong Hyuk) shows up for two seconds, showing he's "found God" (?) and that's why he isn't participating in bringing bad guys to justice. Jung Moon (Park Hae Jin) isn't even mentioned. They are replaced by "hot girl whose crime is scamming scummy men with her hotness" and "maverick, gifted young detective" whose crime was a criminal dying from a heart attack while he was chasing them. Which neatly takes the basic story line of"these are hardened inhuman criminals who are making up for their heinous crimes by catching other hardened inhuman criminals and so regaining some of their humanity" , WHICH WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE DRAMA and throws it in the trash. There is no character development, no reason to care about any of the characters and is honestly just boring. It's almost like the creators of the movie thought people liked the drama because of the fight scenes and not because of the complex, extremely flawed characters and the interesting plot. An utterly baffling "sequel".

as someone who has "come" after watching Bad Guys the drama series (season 1) this was wack... and dunno if the vid that was uploaded was the prob or what. cause there were scene that just jumped from one to something else and maybe that was also the problem in me dis-liking this.
i guess the movie was made cause the series was such a success, if so why they rewrite so much?!? they completely deleted Lee Jung Moon's character as if he didn't exist. which given as he was one of the favorites (going by all the commenter - me i favored Jung Tae Soo, the Hitman lol ) was a WTH moment. mentioning Jung Tae Soo, he found religion in prison, so saw him for a shot or two, not enough but - it is what it is.

they also changed the original story, revolving around the big bust of the human organ trafficking not the sick, nut-job Prosecutor (i would think that was a way bigger story, but again whatever).

Mi Young also got a mention, and ironically her she was supposedly one of the good-guys that kicked-ass in the drama - total B.S. but i guess if u r already rewriting "history" why not go all out. and as she wasn't a favorite of the viewers, she was injured at the beginning and that was that of her.
instead of her we got vixen Gwak Noh Soon, a.k.a Jessica the annoying. her sexy seductress ass was freaking annoying, so glad when "sh*t hit the fan" she acted like a normal human, without all the femme fatale sh*t - that got old fast.

even Oh Goo Tak, another annoying f*cker from the series, was way toned-down. that's cause he was sick - B.S. lol

the story is what it is, bad-guys killing other bad-guys, the cops unable to do sh*t. so we turn to the notorious 4 to save the day - which they do and then get sent back to prison. not boring but not better then the series, and that's saying something for me, as it wasn't my fav.

I'm a huge fan of the series, and in this movie they picked out all of my favorite characters (minus jisoo) and they even gave Jung Tae Soo a nice small role, though I wish Yoo Mi Young had a bigger role, she really improved from the earlier season.
I loved the new addition of a bad "girl", she was awesome and if there's more to this installment, I wish to see her (and jisoo) again ;)
I always say Ma Dong Seok is the only believable 1 vs 100, or ruining through walls and doors xD and he always has the greatest comedic lines. "no onion please", gang pawn "how did you get here" MDS: "with the gps"! xD

the story is pretty simple, prison bus turns over, prisoners run away, bad guys tried to collect them and they find out the big plot.

my rewatch values are 1 or a 10, and I rarely rewatch movies ;)

A nice action movie, you wouldn't want to miss especially if you are a Ma Dong Seok fan. Add to the formula, Jang Ki Yong, and it is a definite plus, he is really good in action. This movie would have made it a perfect 10 if Jo Dong Hyuk would have joined in the leading cast, and again if the story would have some depth to it rather than simply being a rerun of the bad boys' tv series. Not that it wasn't a good rerun, it was, but I mean, it had the potential to have 9 to 10 rate with such an impressive cast. The action was excellently executed, but I wonder why the gang's members do not have guns except in a few or maybe one scene!! I would watch a sequel if they ever make one.

Bad Guys Dream Team

Just finished watching this. I dropped season 2 so I don't know much about that one, though I did watch Jo Dong Hyuk's cameo as Tae Soo. I missed him in this movie. The charismatic and skillful Tae Soo. The brainiac Psycho as well. Overall, this is an action movie so I enjoyed it, though I must admit that season 1 is still my number 1 ????. Hopefully, if there's a follow up for this movie, can Tae Soo and Jung Moon come back? This movie's team plus Tae Soo and Jung Moon is the dream team - the thug, the con, the ex-police, the assassin, and the psycho-brainiac. Pretty please?

Take a good pillow

As much as I binged the two series with delight, sometimes staying late in front of my TV, as much as I fell asleep after 3/4 hour of this film. Boring as ever, plans to yawn, soporific actors, a Ma Dong Soek a little below and a Kim Sang Joong the worst of all... I also deplore the virtual absence of Tae Soo and the ridiculous excuse provided by the script. One or two stunts are good all the same, but here it is, I really slept stricto sensu on this story. We can really do without seeing it, but don't miss the Bad Guys series from 2014 and Bad Guys: Vile City from 2017!!! On the other hand, if you are a fan of Miss Kim Ah Joong, you will not be disappointed. She does well here too.

Honestly it was just an average action flick with none of the nuance, gruesome violence, or anything that was not extremely predictable so I guess I'm rating a little higher because I'm loyal to the franchise. And the worst for me was Jang ki yong was legit wasted on this movie and the only two characters who had the biggest chunk of the action was Ma Dong Suk and Kim Ah Joong which both of them were fine considering there was not much to do. But why keep this Jang ki yong for such a forgettable, insignificant role? His character wasn't even properly fleshed out. Another thing that literally make me want to quit watching were the typical Japanese yakuza villains, and it was all the Japanese against 'our great nation' seriously it was done in such bad taste. Ugh. Total cringe. I can forgive such storylines in historicals (barely) but when you show cartoonist Japanese villains it's so petty and immature. Theres nothing wrong with having yakuza villains but don't make it about Japan then ffs and talk about Japanese history instead of yakuza history. So you see naturally the entire script was like this! Seriously lacking in complexity and meaningful dialog. Whatever ghostwriters they hired didn't have a clue how to write dark stories so it was just a bunch of mildly interesting action, ridiculous, tropey plotlines, and plain dialog. I mean even most of the action is not that great.
