My advice to FL - "Trust yourself!"

I was excited to watch this series because older woman, younger man is one of my favourite tropes and a few of director Ding Zi Guang's dramas are in my watchlist. The series started off great (I love episode 1) but after 10+ episodes, I became frustrated. I dropped this series because I couldn't watch a self-pitying female lead and refused to waste almost 720 minutes on this mess.

What I liked:
1) He Can Yang - He is the reason why I pushed through until episode 24. He is easygoing but dependable and caring. I like that he always offer to listen to one's concerns.
2) Best friends Song Xue and Yang Xiao Yu - I like scenes where three of them hang out. Song Xue gave great advice most of the time.
3) Song Wei Long - Wow, so handsome. I love his smile. He resembles Taehyun of kpop group Tomorrow x Together.

What I disliked:
1) He Fan Xing characterisation - She is hardworking, independent, level headed when it came to work. I liked her character at first but when she lied to her school friends about her boyfriend, I was livid! I also despice her for feeling sorry for herself even though she was the one that ended the relationship. I also dislike Fan Xing for confiding in Ye Lu Ming rather than in her best friends whenever she had relationship problems.
2) Ye Lu Ming - I liked him at first and understood his sadness about "the one who got away". However I don't like once he schemed his way into Fan Xing's family. Devious!
3) The romance - I enjoyed romance between Fan Xing and Yuan Song before the breakup. Since their relationship is secret / "forbidden", I think the director could have done more romance scenes e.g. in the store room, hidden touches, surprise kisses. Anyway I am disappointed by choices made by Fan Xing - she totally not believing in herself, that's why she dictating how her first love should be.

Favourite scene
When Fan Xing took care of Yuan Song when he was ill

Frustrating yet strangely addictive . . .I may come back to this one

He Fanxing is figuring out what she wants from life and relationships - to be true to herself or societal/community approval. But, once it appeared all 40+ episodes would be He Fanxing stumbling around unsure, I considered dropping the show . . .

Positives: When He Fanxing and Yuan Song (young love interest) shared a screen there is great energy, and you could see why they are drawn to each other. There is surprisingly little screen time devoted to Yuan Song, and there's a lot more that could be done with the character. . .

Negatives: Ye Luming (older love interest) has 'red flags' written all over him from the start. He lies, stalks her, ingrates himself with her parents, is very physical and grabby, and uses all the pressure in the world. This is excused as just being an alpha/domineering CEO, but his hostility toward women that cry and fantasising/dreaming about stabbing them was a bridge too far. Once I realized he was staying on through the show, I stopped wanting to watch . . .

I'm not really a vivid fan of the two actors. But when I've started watching the series I felt in love right away. One of the main factor is the main actors portrayed their roles very well not to mentioned that the guy name Yuan Song ( Song Wei Long) is really doing a great job on his acting. Together with the supporting actors, they really did a big impact also on the casting, from He Fanxiang supportive & bully brother to her loving and caring friends and bff Mr. Ye Luming ( ahahaha he's really funny though on this series ). To summarized it from ep 1 to 25, so far the story i like everything, the casts, and especially the storyline is still keeping me to watch and wait the succeeding episodes. Hope this well end a very good and happy ending drama..

The beginning of the drama did provide some interesting dynamics as we learn He Fanxing has never had a boyfriend despite being passed the "marriage age" for women in China. I do like that she is an mature woman who has a great job. We are introduced to the first male lead Yuan Song who is 10 years her junior and while he is handsome, he is immature and always being late to work as an intern at Fanxing's workplace. Anyway, the story practically forces them into a relationship rather than gradually moving along. He Fanxing goes on a blind date with another guy Ye Limung only to tell him she likes someone else (Yuan Song). However Limung still really likes her and is always doting on her throughout. What I've noticed is that Fanxing is truly having fun and being herself when she is with Limung and always seems so tepid and stupid when with Yuan Song. Yuan Song is such a jerk in this drama I can't stand it, he will get mad at Fanxing for doing the same things that he does then manipulates her into thinking she's the bad guy! I absolutely do not understand why I should be rooting for this guy... I have not finished the show but i really don't see a reason to if she's just gonna end up with this young guy who has no money, constantly compares fanxing to his mother, still accepts gifts from his ex girlfriend and has no consideration for the main character. The second male lead is a far better choice in my opinion and I wish it would go that way. Limung has always been there for Fanxing and it's ridiculous if she chooses this loser young guy who doesn't even respect her enough to keep their relationship private. He seems like just a player to me, but oh well. Watch it if you like, there are some really funny and charming moments but none of those are with the first male lead. Also the side characters: Fanxing's family and two friend's are cool, the designer guy is cool, the girls in the office are okay, Limung's niece is dumb and annoying.

boring

nonsense drama
the female lead is so annoying
why on earth will you broke up with the male lead
you left the male lead and already dating the second male lead (if though he deserved the broke up at the end)
I don't want to even start with that jobless and senseless second male lead
it is only the female lead that's on Earth.
okay, you've seen that she has taken already
you should have left her alone
but No, he was busy showing himself up and down to the family and friends
wait, is the writer mad?
i can't endure this nonsense anymore
we will buy subscription and then data to watch this drama and at the end of the day NONSENSE

I CRIED WATCHING THIS SHOW

*spoilers alert*
This show started off good but after the main couple broke up everything went downhill. The decisions main lead made were just wtf. When she broke up with the younger guy it was reasonable and I could see why she did that but then she went on and dated the older guy which made me cry out of frustration. Then u would think the younger guy would give up, no he didn’t. I honestly thought that this show would be realistic about dating but und fortunately no it wasn’t. Both of the guys were basically experiments for her she doesn’t like one of them she moved onto the other one which pissed me off. The younger guy himself is stupid like no one would just wait around for their ex like this guy did.
Other than that the other couples are literally so cuteeee. I only continued watching the show for the other couples.

Enjoyed this very much, especially FM. Although it was hard to believe her naivete and lack of experience at her age, particularly considering how good looking she is and successful in career, i still liked the storyline. I did think it made more sense for her to fall for the 2nd ML though as they were very compatible, and did seem to make a great couple, but that is why i love these A-dramas- lots of implausibility which makes it enjoyable to watch for me.
As alluded to, i really loved the female lead. I think she did a great job with this role. I found her very sexy, not just because she is hot (she looked awesome in every outfit), but because of that naivete, inexperienced way she portrayed the character. It was so adorable to see, even though hard to believe in such an older lady. I still like the sexy cougars, and aggressive types, however there is something very alluring about this character.
I'm from the USA and have pretty much dedicated my leisure watching to Asian productions. I love all the cultural differences, and they seem to be prevalent in all the shows i have watched, from Chinese, Taiwan to Korean and others. First- food. Americans like to eat just to eat, but in all these shows food is a most important aspect of every day life. so cool to see that. Second- the family hierarchy and the conflict about how things should and ought to be. In USA, it is pretty much, do what makes you happy and others have to accept it. In these shows, everything is decided on in lots of cases based on what is expected of you, or how others would perceive you- very fascinating. it is what makes these series 30-40 episodes long in most cases. Third- the age difference scenario- makes a good storyline
Anyway, I digress a little. I really liked this drama...lots of tender moments, lots of anguish for both leads and other characters and a nice happy ending. Great stuff, particularly during these difficult times we are going through now. Will be looking for more of these types of shows now that i have to stay in the house for the next 6-8 weeks, ugh!

Interesting movie

I'm watching this tv drama for the second time. I like the plot because this relationship between the two lead casts is just normal nowadays.Nothing is wrong with May-December affair. As long as two people love each other that is the most important thing in a relationship. The male lead portrayed his role as young but matured and responsible person while the female lead was at her best role. The story and directing are good - no complaint in there. Even the supporting actors did their job very well.

Favorite Noona Drama - Followup Movie would be nice

Watched earlier this year and one of the few I have rewatched couple of times (continue to find things I missed). Realize late review as FYS was released in 20/filmed 19. I d'ont get all the negative reviews about Victoria Song's acting nor the 11.5 age difference given the noona story. Nor the lower rating that than "The Rational Life" 8.2 (comments also less negative about the lead, who I like, who is 20 years older in real life and played about 10 years younger). Whereas VS played her own age and Song Wei Long played older but convincingly). I enjoyed the relationship, chemistry, and skinship in FYS... made sense as FL was emotionally much younger than chronogical age). Whereas with TRL low chemistry, family was toxic mother and his likable mom... vs FYS He family (enjoyed her twin though his final GF not believable), and FL didn't have long term friendships like Fan Xing in FYS. The RL had much fewer filming locations, humor, only one family relationship that was toxic, one or two quick kisses, and a happy ending that probably won't last. Not going to happen but would love a FYS sequel movie showing two leads married... PS been using this site for year and finally did first review today :)

Why oh why

Urgh !!!!!!!!

I swear if it was not for Song Weilong i really wouldn't have watched this!!!!

It was utterly terrible, I've seen better age gap drama then this, the FL WAS SO DAM ANNOYING, and so over the top she came across fake and utterly ridiculous 🙄....

The acting wasn’t all that noteworthy. They were annoying and foolhardy characters mucking through a superficial script. There are better shows out there.

A good watch

I usually don't like watching drama that has more than 24 episodes. This drama with 41 episodes is a long watch. But, it is good one to watch and you should give it a try.
It is a struggle of a 32 year old woman in love with a guy in his 20's. Song Weilong as the main lead, Yuan Song, was amazing. Victoria Song as He Fan Xing has also portrayed her character well. But, her character was really dumb most of the times. You can relate to her woes of dating a younger guy. But, the way she treated him was too much. She started the affair knowing that he is young. Then she breaks up with him and tries to date Ye Lu Ming. Even when she was dating Yuan Song she introduces Ye Lu Ming as her boyfriend to her college mates. After she broke up with Yuan Song she talks to him about dating and marrying Ye Lu Ming. All this after a badminton match with Ye Song. She knows that Ye Song is hurt but tries to built a future for herself with another guy. She was insincere about her feelings to herself, Yuan Song and Ye Lu Ming. Well, if she was so fearful about societal pressures she shouldn't have started the affair. I somehow disliked her smiling and trying to act cute in front of Ye Lu Ming.
I also didn't understand why in the drama they had always commented that Ye Lu Ming as a handsome guy. The actor who portrayed He Fan Xing's father looked younger to me than Ye Lu Ming. They could have casted a younger guy I guess. But, he is a good actor and has done a nice job. He Can Yang and Cai Min Min was really cute. I really liked them. The family ties shown between He Fang Xing, He Can Yang and their parents is heartwarming . It is really cute seeing the twin sibling bond and how the parents always showed favourtism to He Fang Xing. They are the best parents out there. Also, the friendship between the girls is enviable. It was fun watching the colleagues too. There is no scheming and villainous character in the drama which I actually liked.
NB : I loved the dogs too :)
