I watched for Choi Tae Joon

Soundtrack was mostly amazing! :) Loved Joon and Geun Young. However, the secondary leads were painful to watch... :s I see now what people meant in the reviews I read before watching. I watched this for Choi Tae Joon after seeing him in Suspicious Partner. It was great to see him as ML even if the character started out as such a butt. Who Joon really was trying hard for everyone. I loved PD Han, Writer Noh and Ji Hyang. FL was more down to earth, which I prefer. :) Not the best drama ever, but I enjoyed. Had one of the cutest finale scenes I've ever seen!!

A Chip Off the Old Kdrama Romance Block

This drama fits the mold, which must be successful because there sure are a lot of them. "Scarred in youth" boy meets "going through hell" girl and it's hate at first sight. But then they are thrown into an adventure together, which magically causes them to fall in love, psychologically heals the boy's scars of the past, and gives the girl a new lease on life. While the typical-ness of this drama made it mediocre, several of the actors kept me moving through the storyline. I come for the storyline plus the acting, but minus a really good storyline, its usually the actors that keep me watching, and this one did not disappoint. I thought some of the music in it was really good as well. It's a good drama to just turn off your brain and be entertained for awhile. But keep the expectations low.

Endearing Feel-Good Romcom

Although the premise of this drama felt cliched - a haughty celebrity male lead and doormat female lead, the characters slowly started to grow on me and by the 7th episode I was hooked and ended up helplessly binge watching the rest. Both the characters have amazing chemistry and despite cliched scenes (the accidental kiss was so cringey) their natural bickering rapport and mutual support, growing understanding of each other, gradual decrease in pride and prejudice was heartening to watch. The ML is revealed to be an absolute sweetheart. And when there comes a time for justified misunderstanding and anger towards the FL for something leaked to the press, the drama again surprised me by showing their mutual trust on each other and patience to wait out the circumstances. For this alone the drama is worth the watch.
It has easily become one of my go-to feel good romcoms with high rewatch value, something that brings a smile on the face when reminiscing about.

surprise late night binge session...

I started watching this series because of review and trailer seemed interesting, and I thought here is a nice fluffy cliche drama I can tuck in with on a late Friday night. Boy was I wrong.
I love this drama hence binging it into my Saturday morning so as to finish it. The story for me was lackluster at beginning and then as I watched it drew me in, the plot grew better in my opinion. My favourite part was the new perspective I got about love and relationships, which is neither my cup of tea nor how I would react, but it opened my eyes to another person's character traits and point of view.
There were times I wanted to scream and shout at the Fl for just taking it, why she let herself be a doormat, but that is why I loved this series it showed me another character trait and went about to explain it. I do not think this will be me in the future, but it will teach me how not take advantage of people with her trait.
The ending, producers of this show that was very rude, personally I would have loved a bit more insight into their future or current present, but oooh well.
I loved the Ml and I am going to search for shows he has done to see how he transits from one character to another.

This show is not everybody cup of tea and that is perfectly fine, because the world would be Hella boring if we were all similar or liked the same thing, so sorry if this not it for you.

it is a rollercoaster of emotions

quick summary, a journalist that went on an event and met the idol that is hosting it. the idol has a really good picture in front of his fans, but she accidentally caught some dirt on him, they argued and she ended up throwing a shoe on him. she got fired from her job as a consequence. but his managers decided to give them a show for him and his "anti-fan".
really great story.
it was funny it was sometimes sad and the characters had really great chemistry with each other.
i loved the first like 9 ? episodes
but then i got really confused and kinda bored in the second half of it.
things started to get complicated with his dad and him lying about studying in the US and stuff.
and also the side characters are kind of boring.
but overall it is a great drama and a light one too.
7,5/10 i would recommend

I was excited by the premise of a love-hate relationship between celebrity and commoner that I ignored the lukewarm reviews. After watching it though, it was neither here nor there. What I did enjoy was the idea of a kpop idol and a rookie journalist being at odds in the beginning due to misunderstandings. It was their story that made me finish the drama. What I did not enjoy was the secondary couple who should not even be together due to the toxicity of the relationship. I wish that they casted a real kpop idol to play the male lead who could actually sing and dance, but instead they casted a kpop idol for the female lead who did not require her singing/dancing skills.

I'm surprised of the overall rating, why 5+?

I honestly don't know where to start with reviewing this drama
Don't jump at me as I am just providing this viewpoint from a realist lens. So ladies if any one treats you like they treated the fl. Make sure your red flag buzzer SCREAMS.

I personally haven't read the manhua so not sure if this follows the same story plot, if it's this cringe so this isn't related to the manhwa at all
Plot/story was not good
Poor script writing
Acting was average
Music was average to descent
The flow and story characters were lacking badly

These are some of the bullet points that stood out clearly
1- No-one apologises to her, atleast not sincerely (ml says first empty measly sorry ep10)
2- fl lead is a total push over, she even smiling and chatting (near the end) to a cheating narcissistic ex and to the abusive boss "I felt a little guilty..." wtf dude everyone did fake pretend 180 in their personality... they still DID NOT apologise (I'm sorry followed by isn't that a bit comforting is gaslighting manipulation101)
3- can't blame her though since it's seems like hierarchy, misogynistic culture, it's kinda the norm sadly.
4- The ml is an egoistic gaslighting narcissist
5- The other manipulative low esteem abusive guy lead also displays same authoritarian behaviour towards the other second female lead character and ends up with her 🤢
6- Romance is forced and feels unnatural, lacking chemistry. Poor communication and ml decides to distance himself to sort things out leaving fl to cry out of self pity 🙄 (neglecting girlfriend for multiple months!)
7- Fl is constantly threatened, told to be patient, stay in her lane, used and misunderstood by almost everyone. Like she let's a stalking fan who abused her in public, stay in the celebrities home (instead of taking necessary actions of someone barging in)
They all do as they please despite fl protest/annoyance and ignoring her opinion
The only abuse I approve is the fl's father beating the ml👌

Did I say nobody bloody apologises for any of their actions (the 2 sorrys' in there were empty, the ml says I'm sorry after he talks about his struggles and the fl says you don't need to say sorry lmao), even the mum rudely speaking down to her didn't even utter any apologies urgh... The only decent individual is the manager of the ml

2/10 just for the acting effort and seeing Taeyangs cute brother (his chemistry with his colleague was way better!)
Why did I watch this you ask, because Prime is the only service I had, didn't have anything else to watch (although it took me too long to finish this 🙄) and I have a stubborn habit on finishing what I started. It was just tolerable enough to continue it giving me the chance to write this essay as I was watching along. Only watch this if you are bored af and don't mind sleeping through it 😂
The only that will stick to me is most likely "wariso" 🤣

Should I love this or hate this???

The drama has quite lot a issues, but still I couldn't help watching it. If it was not for the second couple, the drama would have got a whooping 9 ratings from me. The leads were too good, whenever I thought that they will go off track, they surprised me by making it through the situation maturely. Also they had some very cute, fluttering scenes.
The osts and background scores were superb and are my absolute favourites.
The drama is not bad, but the issues it had,and how the deeds of second couple were whitewashed was disturbing for me.
Anyways, I would never mind going back and watching the scenes of the leads

I must say it's really a good drama to watch. It started with a good storyline from the first episodes. And they really showed how anti-fan the female lead was. However it should be noted that this drama still had flaws. The writers would have atleast shown enough chemistry between the leads the female lead is so neutral and naive that she doesn't know whom to support while the male lead seems to care about only what happened in his past. He's actually stuck in his past. They're talented actors and actress buy were not used enough. Another thing is that on several occasions the male lead seems to be behind the second male lead with him being humiliated a lot on several occasions. But overall it's a drama a recommend it's so great and entertaining.

It was an okay one time watch

So I Married an Anti-fan
2021 ‧ Rom-Com
Korean Drama
Viki
🍬🍬🍬 (sweet, fluffy watch)

First it was a book (2010) then a weebton (2012), a Chinese Movie (2016) and now a Korean Drama (2021).

♡Fun fact the female lead in real life is a singer and was part of a girl's kpop group. Girls Generation debut in 2007, which was one of OG girl groups.♡

🎥Hate to Love
🎥TV Show plot
🎥Star Love
🎥 Sweet Romance
🎥 Based of a book

What I liked 👍
~When the female Charcter stood up for herself!
~The Romamce
~A good fluffy watch
~The very drama tropes, they just were so funny at times.

What I did not like 👎
~That side story about his past, didn't care to much for it.
~His ex friends 😒
~The last two episodes felt a little rushed.

Rewatch? No

It's been a few months since I enjoyed a drama as much as this one.

The main couple is the main reason for that. They had such good chemistry and were so sweet. I'm a sucker for the "enemies to lovers" trope, which was executed so very smoothly. I also really liked the relationship between the producers for the variety show. Joon's manager, wardrobe lady and Geoun Young's parents were very likable characters, too. The parents had a few hilarious scenes, and it was cute how Ji Hyang was their first shipper.

On the negative side, the second couple was so very toxic. Which was only made worse by the fact that they were two sides of the show's love triangle. It, perhaps, would have been better if JJ died. He was such a mean, manipulative and emotionally abusive character, and I don't think he deserved the weak attempt at a redemption arc they gave him. He was nowhere near damaged enough to justify him being that absolutely awful to other people. In Hyung was not much better. So pitiful for no apparent reason. She made her choices, picked her path and then refused to take responsibility for her own life. I don't really like "woe is me" characters who don't do anything to change their circumstances.

But, all in all, this show was extremely bingeable and so much fun! Would recommend.

I am sure that “Girls Generation” Choi Soo Young brought many of her fans to this drama with expectations to see something that would make the heart flutter. The first 7 episodes were typical K-drama fare---nothing out of the ordinary on the menu, but what you did like was the gradual change of heart that Hoo Joon (played by Choi Tae Joon) was having toward Lee Guenyoung (played by Choi Soo Young).

It was not until episode 8 when Hoo Joon finally confessed his feelings to Guenyoung and actor Choi Tae Joon showed us all (and boy did he 😊) that he really knows how to kiss a woman. From the moment of that kiss at the end of episode 7, it was like the drama went into overdrive and someone had slapped a jet propulsion pack on the backs of the audience. The love story shifted into high gear, and it was an incredibly fun and enjoyable ride to the very end.

The three things that I loved most about this drama were: 1) The fierce approach that Hoo Joon had in his displays of affection for Guenyoung. Every time he kissed her you got the feeling that he was thinking to himself “I am going to KISS you (Guenyoung) REEEAL GOOD!!!! You will know that you've been kissed and it will never be confused as an accident”. I just loved it !!!! I also loved Guenyoung’s girly responses to many of their sweet moments together. 2) Hoo Joon was not just a boyfriend to Guenyoung but he became an honorable man. Who couldn’t be in love with this man and/or respect him highly when he sincerely put his career on the line to protect his friends and Guenyoung. I was so proud of the transformation of Hoo Joon and the reveal of his strong character and unswerving love for Guenyoung. 3) The extremely happy ending. It was an ending that encompassed reflection, forgiveness, reconciliation, repair and finding new directions and new places. And then there was the absolute SWEET proposal for marriage that Hoo Joon made to Guenyoung followed by that signature kiss of Hoo Joon's to the woman that he so loved. I can hear the girls squealing in the crowd and the guys with wide smiles on their faces thinking---“Now that’s how you do it!!!”

The official soundtrack was also deep and varied in the amount and type of songs played but it was splashy and fun, with great lyrics and great beats, and they all brought a lightness and happiness to the whole drama.

A note of caution to those who have not seen this drama yet: The periphery stories of Jae Joon and In Hyung felt like bad side dishes through most of the drama and most of you will really hate the character of Jae Joon, but it all worked out lovely in the end---you’ll see.

This was one of the rare K-Dramas that I wish they would make a Season 2. I know Choi Tae Joon and Choi Soo Young both have significant others in their real lives but these two really had some amazing chemistry with each other on-screen. I really believe that if they did not have other people in their real lives that what we saw on screen would have been even hotter 🔥🔥🔥. This started out as a 7.5 and rocketed all the way past 10 into the stratosphere 💙💚💛💜
