Not sure what happened here, but if anyone is looking for some advice whether to watch this drama or not....don't bother. I literally made an account on mydramalist JUST to vent how frustrated I was with this drama. Aint going to lie, the first 12 episodes are pretty good and suspenseful. But then it just went downhill. It's as if the director/writer of this drama either changed to some freak and decided to kill off the entire cast. I'm sorry but that is just a lazy excuse of any creative writer could think of.
First the villain is way over powered, absolutely making no sense whatsoever. Then introduce some Jedi S**t, where he can control everything and everyone. Then make him invincible and to top it off after spending 12 hours watching the first 12 episodes, start killing the entire cast.
The writer is a sadistic freak that needs help. Shake my head....have you even looked at that genre? It's almost everything in the list. I feel like the producers just wanted to check off everything on the list. Love - check, Comedy - check, Crime - check, Thriller - check , then after, kill everyone; now you get tragedy thrown in the mix too. What makes it even more stupid is that, not 1 person decided to outsmart the villain. Really??? Honestly, if this guy was as evil as everyone makes him out to be, then why would anyone even trust him.
Don't waste your time with this. I'm just so angry I wasted my time with this.
Music and Cast are pretty good. Everything else...is a flop.
I'm done my rant, have a good day. Hope other agrees with me.

The story is absolutely amazing and you will fall in love with the characters especially Song Sae Byuk's character Kang Pil Sung, who I absolutely adore, and Go Joon Hee's character Hong Seo Jung, who was like a living angel. The chemistry between those two characters will simply make your heart ache and break all at the same time. Song Sae Byuk really caught me of guard, he literally is probably one of my favorite male leads after this, I just can't tell you how much I loved his character. You really felt the love shared by these two characters.
The other characters were fantastic as well, you really became attached to them which made later episodes pretty painful. Even the evil bastard character Hwang Dae Doo was good in the fact that you really really really hate him.
I will give fair warning when watching this, the last four episodes are very painful to watch, I basically just wanted to cry most of the time. With that being said I don't think the ending was a bad one, in fact I really found some hope in it.
I would definitely recommend this drama. The story, characters, production, music, acting, just about everything was top notch! Still fresh off the last episode and really still feeling my heart breaking a bit and I'm sure the characters will be on my mind and in my heart for a while.

This drama was so disappointing I'm writing my first review (spoilers ahead).First of all, it didn't hook me in like most other dramas do, I couldn't watch more than one episode at a time (which is saying something). The first half was decent, but then I got really impatient and would watch half an episode and finish the next day because I got bored (and slightly annoyed at the lead's breathing, feels like he breathes more than he talks - yes, it can be effective, but it was over used).
Cast is fine, acting on the whole is pretty good, music is fantastic (have yet to watch a drama with bad music). The story has an interesting premise, but it lacks/fails in the delivery.
(Spoilers!)
I have issues with the premise that people who commit suicide never make it to heaven (which could just be the 'religion' of the show but that stems from very real stigma) and dissipate. And if that means they never get reborn, how is Kang Pil Sung meeting Hong Seo Jung at the end? (Cheesy.) I thought the souls Hwang Dae Du absorbed wouldn't go to heaven either? Did that change?
Hwang Dae Du apparently has OCD because it's convenient to the story line (except when it's not). If he truly had OCD, you would see his "compulsions [as] repetitive behaviors that [he] feel[s] driven to perform." But you don't. He's kind of 'obsessed' with Kang Pil Sung, and the answer as to why in the last episode is pretty unsatisfying/lame. His whole 'theory' he's out to prove that demons are made, not born, isn't showing at all. He taunts Kang Pil Sung "look at what you've become" and I just "???" I don't see it, until the last episode (briefly), which is too little too late.
There's no telling how or why Hwang Dae Du attains the powers that he does. Yes he swallows a few souls at the beginning (yes the shaman has powers), but after that? On top of getting a few psychic glimpses he can now move & break things? Immobilize & control people? Huh?? There's no explanation for any of his powers, they just show up, 'cause I guess that's cool?
Not to mention, if the whole world is going to hell (because the door is open), how the hell is that not sensed from the island? I can accept Hong Seo Jung doesn't feel Hwang Dae Du because of salt or whatever, but HELL itself? Engulfing the world? A few episodes ago it was made clear the effects were worldwide, so why would this tiny island be exempt??
Towards the end... well, I was surprised (at first) when people got killed, but when new characters were introduced I had an idea of what would happen, and then it did, no surprise. Was there a point to all the deaths? Meh. Later, the girl's rushed to the hospital, "any later and she could've died" from WHAT? Being knocked out? Poisoned? We'll never know! And to top it off, Kang Pil Sung is the suspect of SEVEN murders?? HOW? They literally have video of the other dude TWICE? Details, I guess, but as a writer, I can't let those slide. I don't mind dark/bittersweet/unhappy endings but they have to be done well, and it wasn't. :|

Contains SpoilersThis is my first review I even signed up just to write this review. Fist of all let me start by saying I really love OCN, They make some of the best drams in my opinion but this was just bad on so many levels. Like the review before me I also think that the first 12 episodes were good but then things went horribly and violently wrong. I was wondering why where they suddenly giving depth to side characters half way through the series it was so they could kill them all off and leave you with the bad taste in your mouth. I don't mind some heavy drama from time to time it can't all be fairy tales but too much death in a span of only 4 episodes is too much especially if you are like me who waits till the series are nearly over to start watching and you watch it all in a few days it becomes too much too heavy. The actors were amazing they did a great job and the emotions they gave were powerful I don't usually cry easily when watching series but I cried a few times in this series and to me that just means the series was dark. It became so frustrating how the devil just wont lose you reach a point when you just want to yell "oh come on really?" anyway even if the story went bad I still enjoined the first few episodes and the acting was amazing which is why I gave it a 5 but I am still angry and am still wondering what just happened which is why I wrote this review to let it out I guess.

I signed up to vent out my frustrations about the last episodes of this series. You know it's fck up when you folks killed those police officers whom made this series worthy to watch.. Man.. stop copying George R. Martin! One of the few that make my review bad is that there's so much killing that are not necessary or relevant to the story. P.S. Kudos to all the actors in this series y'all did a remarkable job but last few episodes are not worthy of my praise..
Salute!

Have to say that the first half was definitely interesting, which was why I kept on watching the drama. But then for the last 4-5 eps, I started to question if I should continue watching this. Should have trusted my gut feeling when the plot started to turn uncharacteristically dark for no reason. And just when you thought that maybe things will be overturned later, you ended being disappointed and wondering why on earth you even bothered watching this. Like seriously, the moment the villain starts getting clingy with the main pairs and wanna get the guy to kill his girl just to justify his own belief and started killing off every tom dick and harry around the main character the plot gone to the trash already. The villain becoming too overpowered to the point of ridiculous and the side characters acting stupid by not heeding the main character's warning to not confront the villain direct and ending up being killed stupidly as well. And the ending was so anti-climax that you can't help wondering if the writer themselves gave up in making the story be decent. Which was a shame, since the earlier plot was decent only to become a trainwreck at the end.
This is as bad if not worse than a lot of western b-grade horror with dumb main characters and overpowered psycho villains.
Tl:dr, as much the initial story sounded interesting, don't bother watching this. Please watch other much better dramas seriously. Like say, Ghost Seeing Detective Cheoyeong was good. It had a similar starting plot and was much written and balanced on the detective and the supernatural theme.

I came into the show expecting it to be a ghost show but despite there being multiple psychic characters, the ghosts mainly feel like they're there because someone wrote a dull show and needed to desperately add supernatural elements in to spice it up. The characters see ghosts and they barely interact with them either despite the fact they're supposed to see them. It's honestly pitiful how they handled the ghosts in this show.
This show has elements to it like romance, humor, and decent side character to entertain you while you get dragged around in circles for the entire series wondering when there will be actual progress made but that only happens until the very end the excruciating 16 episode. If you want a show that completely ruins itself in the last few episodes, this is your show, but that's not even the worst part. The problem with this show is that it'll completely bore you to death before you even get to the parts where it ruins everything. I reached a point where I just no longer had patience for this show so I skipped through the last episodes and I'm sure glad I did because I'd be pissed if I actually was still interested.
Don't bother with this show. Even if the last episodes were written better, it still would not be worth it because it's so boring and the episodes are so long with nothing going on most of the time. I can't believe Netflix would put their logo on such a dreadful show without having any shame.

However, because of how hard the last 3 episodes were to watch, I don't think I will be revisiting this drama. Even though I think it was incredibly well made and was very invested while watching it.
I do recommend watching Possessed, even if you decide later on that it isn't for you, at least try it and see.

Literally Everyone
All the main leads in this drama dies. The ending is not good and takes away every little hope of happiness.Seriously this drama will make you really sad.I was expecting that there would be a twist in ending but not.The acting of the cast is great but same cannot be said about the story. The drama starts a bit funny and romantic in the middle transforms into action and ends with a unexpected killing of hwang du du.In the last episodes the writer starts his own revenge killing one by one each of the main characters until in the end there is no one left except the tango girl.
The villain is also too powerful throughout the end where they only kill him in last 20 minutes by throwing him into middle of the sea which is also unbelievable.I understand that there cannot be always a happy ending and not always good people win,but writer could have come up with different ideas if hwang du du needed to be dead.
My recommendation is only watch this drama if you are a fan of other Korean drama The guest. Although I enjoyed the drama for its unique and good story and it was reminding me of Park II du(The guest).I am satisfied after seeing the post credits where both male lead and female are reincarnated as two young schools friends in next life.

Aish! How do I persuade you to take that leap without littering this review with spoilers? I fear my eloquence will be lacking; however, as is demonstrated throughout this series, being at a disadvantage is no excuse for not attempting something worthwhile.
I very much enjoy stories with a strong, supernatural element, & this delivers, but I believe the story would have even worked without it. I'm not saying the supernatural stuff was a problem in this series. Not at all; however, it's just that the struggle of Good v. Evil, no matter in what one believes (or not), is a basic aspect of our reality as thinking, action-oriented beings. That "human-ness" was constructed in such a way that it carried everything else on it's back, & it was a strong foundation on which to build. It didn't stagger or become breathless under the story's weight.
The actors, too, rose to the challenge. My only real complaint (although it was mere irritation) was something with which I struggle in many a drama, & that is the unnecessary, exaggerated/extra, wacky, supporting character types so often inserted for comedic relief. When used appropriately, it can enhance the story. While this was intense enough to need those moments of relief, I believe a more sophisticated touch was called for. And it wasn't as if it would have been out of their reach since most of the characters were written SO well; lovingly, even! It was a bit of a shame they chose take those other, few, important characters in that direction. No fault to those, specific actors. They were "just drawn that way."
I came to care about the people in this story...the people in this world they created. Everybody. Even the unseen, imagined ones living throughout other parts of the planet. Did I get my wish of a prettily-packaged, happily ever after (for which we Westerners are often accused to have a penchant)? I know which way the scales are leaning for me, but is anything in life really that cut & dry? My real wish is that, I hope, if you've chosen to watch "Possessed" based on anything I've written, you can say the same thing for yourself at the end.

At the beginning, as in the case of drama, it was completely calmer. Based on my experience with Korean dramas, I came to the conclusion that the story will be much calmer.
When it comes to the main actress, Go Joon-hee, her face was specific. She wasn't very expressive - little was happening on her face. On the other hand, this mimicry perfectly suited her heroine, and therefore, pradadoxically, was interesting.
