If you are looking for a romance drama with a bit of action and goofiness this is the perfect one to watch. Although, there are some parts to the drama that didn't quite add up, the two main lead did a fantastic job especially the male lead who played his character superbly. There was great chemistry between the couple and I've already rewatched the last half of the drama a second time.

I did feel that the story dragged a little at the beginning. Honestly, the production of this drama is lacking in certain aspect as well but it's mainly the romance that makes this drama worth it. The chemistry is not as reserved as most traditional chinese drama in my opinion which made it exciting to watch.

Not-so-brotherly love

Yes! Another time travel drama on Youku with (Master Devil) Li Hong Yi and Lusi Zhao (Untouchable Lovers, Oh My Emperor, Cinderella Chef), in short, three elements I can't resist.

Synopsis
The story begins in the future. A girl is willing to trade her immortality for a romantic life. She’s sent back by the matrix of the universe to live in the body of a girl in the past. She’s foretold she will meet the love of her life the moment she opens her eyes. The girl from the future awakes as Chun Hua. Somehow she’s found beside a murdered healer, bystanders think she’s the culprit. Still dizzy she can’t see the first man she meets, but he seems to be a tall guy with long waving hair seen from the back as he’s deserting the place. The second man she clearly sees is Xiao Bai. He’s the good looking son of a martial arts master, and very angry. His father has been poisoned and now the guy who was supposed to cure his father has been killed. Chun Hua eagerly greets Xiao Bai as her future husband, but he suspects she’s a female spy. He decides to keep her close by his side to keep an eye on her. The girl pretends to have amnesia, because she hasn’t got the faintest idea who Chun Hua is. Her information gap is soon filled by the mysterious man with long waving hair who apparently comes to her aid. He turns out to be Qiu Yue, sworn enemy of Xiao Bai, a highly dangerous man, full of tricks. He introduces himself as her brother to take control over Chun Hua and Xiao Bai. What he can’t control is his not-so brotherly feeling for Chun Hua.

The Pros
It’s a joy to watch Lusi Zhao, she is such a versatile actress. I hated her as the antagonistic wife in Untouchable Lovers, I mistrusted her in Cinderella Chef. Her tone deaf singing in Oh My Emperor made me cry of laughter and now she plays such a cute, airhead girl that it is totally believable that every man wants to protect her. Both male leads are eye candy, the chemistry is on spot, and there’s also this tension about a yes or no- sister-brother connection.

The Cons
If you are into wuxia stories I guess you'll be disappointed. The storyline about the longevity nut has a meaning because of the love/immortality theme of the series, but it feels a bit forced and long-winded as well.

Nevertheless...if you like romance, tension and doubt between lovers, plus a mystery to be solved, this is for you.

Dubbed voice and WHAT???

I have a few issues with this series. First they dubbed chuan (zhaolusi ) voice. She already has a cute voice and then they made it sound like an annoying 6 year old ….
And then ok so this is what I don’t get and spoiler yeah sorta
So she’s using a vr to go into this other world where she basically is mortal. Now is she in an Internet cafe… I mean when she dies is there a janitor that comes and takes your body?? But tech her body is still in her world right. So… you got an Internet cafe where they hire people to clean up dead bodies … right..
The story line was confusing and weird. Way too many side characters added in and out. The names are way too similar too. A lot of times I had to read recaps to realize who was whom.
Way too many useless episodes
I def don’t recommend this

Why is the female lead character so annoying?

The Male Lead is obviously the best of the worst bunch he’s the only character that’s not hypocritical, yeah he manipulates but he does this in order to win her love.
Worst thing is she’s always doing stupid things, like listening to a subordinate bad mouth the man she loves and suddenly she believes him even though she witnessed the subordinate trying to kill him....just makes no sense any other woman would have told the sub to get lost. Then there’s the always needing rescued part...give me a female lead that can fight to protect herself if necessary.
Male lead is so good looking, there’s something so ethereal about a man with long hair, pale skin, long eyelashes and beautiful clothes. Especially a flirtatious domineering one....oft! Oh my days it’s super sexy...who the heck could resist...? Oh yeah....the daft female lead character.

I am watching this in 2022 and this show is 3 years ago. I can tell this show has lower budget and the graphics ain't fantastic. ZLS is very well known for her shows with romance-comedy genre, the roles she acted after Love Better Than Immortality is much better and bearable to watch. Despite being funny and cute like her other shows, she is very much annoying in this one, not too sure it is because of the voice? her character? but it's just not fun-loving to watch. I also do not like 2nd ML because he seems very stoic.

The saving grace I have will be Li Hong Yi, the male lead. I only look forward to the scenes where he appear and seriously can just watch a show with just him! His acting is mesmerizing and his role as SGQY is perfect. I really wished to see more of him in historical/xianxia/wuxia shows.

I do think that this show has a lot of potential in it but sadly i had to fast forward a lot in order to enjoy it.

Lighthearted drama with a flirty, bad boy lead

The drama started off great. We were quickly immersed in the world and characters. There are two love interests (but not really a love triangle) and a mystery plot. The first 30 episodes were really strong. There was no dull moment. The main couple had lots of cute scenes together, all the characters had assigned roles and were interesting within the story. We have a side couple that's super cute. No jealousy and bickering between the female leads which was a breath of fresh air.

However the last 10 episodes were quite disappointing and the drama went downhill for me. The plot didn't make sense. The characters' motives and decisions made no sense (especially the female lead). One of the tags for this drama is 'character development', well I saw no development on her part which was such a waste. The whole premise of the drama is about finding true love and yet I felt like that wasn't explored enough. We spend more time with the second male lead (who turned out to be a very boring character) than the first male lead and somehow by the end of the series the love between the main couple didn't feel deep to me. The mystery plot was dragged on for too long and the ending was pretty much underwhelming.

The drama is low budget which was clearly seen because the fight scenes were too short and especially the end fight was disappointing. The wigs were really bad and I usually don't pay too much attention to that.

Overall I think it's still worth the watch but viewers shouldn't have too high of expectations. The male lead is flirty, bad boy with a good heart while the female lead is innocent and naive. There are lots of kissing scenes between them. So if that's the vibe you are looking for, you will enjoy this drama.

Story: weak point
It seems like in China there's the trend with the adaption of (internet) novels, but many are failing either due scriptwriting or directing . Like many of the novel adaptions always got a happy comedic beginning and the dramatic second half/end with very simple to no plot. Problem is the also the overused bad written time travel plot.
Acting/Cast: wasted cast
The cast was actually pretty decent with their acting especially the main leads are doing a great job and had good chemistry.
Music: There was nothing outstanding to me. I liked the OP theme song.
Overall: A teenish romance drama with strong leads but weak plot.

so-so ending

I've just finished and here is what I have to say about the drama
first of all, great male lead ! he is so handsome and you can feel his love for the female lead just by the way he looks at her, his expression, the way he talks and act around her! it is so heart warming <3
BUT the female lead can be annoying, for one she can't make up her mind on who she really wants to be With and she is selfish because she always argue with the male lead about not wanting to be with him but always runs back to him whenever there's problem and use him then leave him again! I have anger issue and I can't handle stuff like this. ugh I have so much bad things to say about the female lead but to put it short SHE'S CONFUSED.
but the overall story was "ok" not reALLY my type. it's not boring but it doesn't excites you either. the only reasons why I kept watching was because the male lead was so good and I was waiting for a turn away for big and exciting things to happen which never did.
the ending was a happy ending but i believe they could've made it better.
I feel as thought it was disappointing because even till the end the male lead was still painted as a villain even thought he had never personally harm anyone and the female was selfish and never really had consideration for the male lead. it was always about what she wanted or how she wanted, not what can I do to help him or to benefit him and give him justice. overall personally it was trash for me. the male is still painted as a villain and hated by everyone, he lost everything to save dumb female lead and he is now powerless . all he got in the end was a trashy ass useless female and justice was never serve, he never even got the chance to avenge his mother. I just wish they gave him more than that.
a better ending.
I personally would not be re-watching this anytime soon. it was kinda boring and the ending didn't make It better.

Truly A beautiful love story

I went into this drama cringing every 3 secs because of the female lead's stupid actions. I didn't expect much from it since all the reviews were saying that this drama sucks. But I kept watching because I was intrigued by how this drama would develop. I HATE rewatching dramas no matter how much I like them and I rated this a 4 for rewatch value, that speaks ALOT. I found myself crying multiple times while watching this pure undying love. I'm just a girl. This is the type of love i dream about, Shangguan Qiu Yue truly sacrificed his EVERYTHING for the female lead. The love story between Fu Lou and Yousi also made me cry a river. ITS SO BEAUTIFUL how they loved each other unreservedly. Like Yousi said, Love is when no matter what you look like in everyone elses eyes, in his eyes you are special. I just love the male and female lead's chemistry. I love everything about their interactions. I love how he vowed to change himself for her. I love how he loved her with everything he had in him. I love the concept of her sacrificing her immortality for true love. Living a short life with the love of your life is truly better than living forever without ever feeling loved. PLEASE WATCH IT. yes the female lead's voice might sound annoying at first but it gets better towards the end, she drops the baby voice. ♡♡♡

First Reaction: OMG! Cute and hot boys! EEEEEEeeeee!
Second Reaction: Wait! I know the main female lead...um...oh! she was from "Oh! My Emperor". I loved that show and her too.
Third Reaction: Hahaha, love her with her acting.
This drama is great even though I don't fully understand it, but I am loving it. This drama is cute and the song, too. I hope this drama ends well, but I have a feeling that there will be something sad because this drama is obviously called "Love Better Than Immortality" and that might mean she will be able to experience her fantasy love story, but she won't be able to live long since she gave that up for love. I mean I would choose the same thing but it would be sad. I also want to try and experience a love-fantasy like story with hot and cute boys. Anyway loving the drama so far!

*trigger warning. read at your own risk*

Ok look. I took off a ton of points here because the main character just pisses me off. idk why she's so obsessed with xb because he's a total dick. the acting was great. especially li hong yi- he legit carried this series. im just pissed at how fmc keeps defending xb and always thinks the best of him despite him literally willing to sacrifice her for a nut. a freaking nut.
and can we talk about how it took 2 ppl DYING for her to realize what an asshole xb really is? that's in epi 26 btw. anyways, zhao lusi is great in romance of tiger and rose (传闻中的陈芊芊)- so go watch that.

also, ik that someone's gonna get hella sensitive over this- so just bear in mind that everyone has different opinions. if u want romance, this is the drama for you. if you want a story with a fmc that actually thinks for herself? this ain't it.

This is the most Chinese drama I've ever watched. I love the storyline, it was very nice. The acting skills of my two favorite Chinese actors Li Hong Yi and Zhao Lou Si. They have a very nice chemistry. I also watched Prodigy Healer but I prefer this one. The music was nice, the acting skills are excellent. That's all! Hoping for another C-drama with the both of them. The graphics was also good. I was very touched at the last ten the episodes. It literally made me cry haha. I salute the director of this drama also the staffs who helped a lot in the making. I realized that Li Hong Yi matured a lot. Well, I can say this because as I watched Master Devil Don't Kiss Me, I think he was very young at that time , so yeah. I recommend for y'all to watch this C-drama. I gurantee you that you will not regret watching this. Thank you:>
