The Couple is Everything!

For those who will watch this, you are probably one of the big fans of this long-running screen couple, like me!!! YES, I can never get enough with this couple and even if they continue to show until Season 4,5,6,7 I will still watch it as long as it's the two of them starring!

Unbeatable amount of kiss scenes, from sweet kiss, sad kiss, passionate kiss or even a small peck, they had the best chemistry! I even think they probably kiss more than kissing their real-life partners (?) Giving that they have worked together for 4 dramas. Well, not complaining because I LOVE IT! Unlike some other Chinese dramas that blurred out kiss scenes or even fake kissing, this couple went all out, salute the couple for their professionalism!!! It surprises me when they even included kiss scenes not for romance, there was a scene where they kiss just to test the spell (like wow!), but the way they showing it, it was so natural and pleasing, not cringey at all!

Story wise, at first I thought it was a standalone story, but apparently in the second half, it somehow relates back to some plots from the previous seasons. As for me, I kinda forget about the story so I went to do some read-up and managed to recall on it before continue watching (But do take note while doing your read-ups as you might accidentally caught some spoilers haha). I would say this is almost about the same standard as the 1st and 2nd season, entertaining but not special... especially when Romance of Tiger and Rose has first started with "Women ranking higher than men" kind of setting already, also some repetitive cliche plots like the previous season (amnesia, doppelganger, time travel, diplomatic marriage). But as I mentioned earlier, because I enjoyed watching the couple so I don't mind watching it too. But I personally prefer Season 2 the most, mainly because it has the modern era of the couple and I enjoyed that version of Mo Lian Cheng the most.

Acting, I find the casts' acting have improved. Not the best but is getting better, I personally find Xing Zhao Lin being one of the best among the team. Although he is one of the youngest casts but he captured a lot of detailed expression with his "small eyes" (HAHAHA) and played a matured role real well, didn't notice the age gap at all! Same goes to the new cast - Allen Fang that joined the team, although his role wasn't that favourable (kinda pathetic) but I'm impressed how he can be so serious and sorrowful in such a comedy drama, have to acknowledge his well acting though!

I hope I can see Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie on-screen again, again and again! No matter in this series or others, as long as they are acting as a couple in a drama, I'll take it!!!

The Third Successful Installment of The Eternal Love Series

My excitement towards the announcement of a third season of The Eternal Love and its release was immense, like many other fans of the cute and lovable Xiaotan-Liancheng couple. After two previous successful seasons, I was anticipating another captivating plot with cute interactions. And while Season 3 was not as splendid as the previous two seasons in my opinion, it exceeded my expectations as I honestly had no idea what the third season was going to be about. It gave the audience more information on the magical elements included in seasons 1 and 2, as well as provided an interesting story and even some new characters.

Before continuing further with this review, I would like to say that if you are considering watching this drama but have not watched the previous two seasons, please do so before watching Season 3 because there is quite some information that you need to know before watching this. This is not a "it's okay if you don't watch the previous seasons" drama. If you skip the previous two seasons before watching Season 3, you will be very confused. Also, if you have not watched the previous two seasons, do not read this review unless you don't mind spoilers about S1 and S2.

You might have realized that The Eternal Love (all seasons) does not have a very high budget, but the drama did a great job with the money they had. The costumes in the third season seem to be a little more fancier, and as usual, very gorgeous. It didn’t seem like the drama had as many people as there should have been, for example, the manor (servants, housekeepers) and the palace (eunuchs, servants, etc), but there were enough extras to keep the story going.

Story-8.0
There really wasn't anything extraordinary about The Eternal Love Season 3. Just like in the previous two seasons, time travel plays a major part in the story. (or this time, rather, an alternate or parallel universe) This time, Emperor Mo Liancheng and Empress Qu Xiaotan travel to another Dongyue with matriarchy, or in other words, a place where women had more power than men. I immediately thought of The Romance of Tiger and Rose, as aside from time travel, this was another major detail the dramas had in common. I would have preferred the matriarchy in The Eternal Love Season 3 to be more prominent, though. Season 3 had quite a few questionable points when it came to matriarchy, but I won't write much about this to avoid spoilers. .

The first few episodes were very light and fluffy, the plot just focused on the leads being lovey-dovey birds. You may remember the many kisses in Seasons 1 and 2. Well, Season 3 is perfect for those craving for more. For me, though, I thought there might have been too many kisses. Something that popped up in my mind was that when there weren't kisses for a long time, the plot was moving on more quickly and smoothly. But the leads are very good kissers, so I have no complaints about that aspect.

As the story moved further, more and more questions surfaced about the new characters. There are quite a few new characters in Season 3, and although it wasn't hard to remember their names or anything or that sort, I honestly did not really know their importance in the drama until the later episodes. I spent quite some time wondering their identities and why they were introduced to us in the third season. Some characters did serve a very important purpose in the end, but others just kind of...fell flat. I wanted to know more about them, their desires and pains. While the drama did show much of their desires and pain, I always had this sense of wanting to know more. I also wanted to know more about the background story of Xuanling Continent and the pearl, more about why they were whisked to a different land again (I know that some of these questions have been elaborated on, but for me, it wasn't quite enough).

This feeling is pretty hard to describe, but I felt that the plot was a little...unfinished? Not exactly unfinished, but some parts in the drama, especially the ending, felt a little rushed with some plot holes, like a big pumpkin pie missing a tiny slice, while the middle felt a little dragged. The plot was interesting, yes, but I wasn't standing on my tippy-toes waiting for the next episodes to be aired.

Acting/Cast-9.0
Fortunately, most of the cast came back to film the third season, and there wasn't any replacement needed. (for those actors and actresses who were unable to film the drama, the drama expertly managed to cover this up by introducing more interesting characters.) I was already very familiar with the cast from Seasons 1 and 2, so I already knew what to expect from them in terms of acting. Again, they acted very well, especially when the characters they acted had a drastic personality change. (because most of the drama took place in another universe) But even with the changes, the drama maintained our cute couples: Mo Liancheng and Qu Xiaotan, and Jing Xin and Mo Jingxuan (14). Jing Xin and Fourteen had some very cute moments together, just like in the previous seasons. Seems like fate kept these couples together.

I was also pretty familiar with a few of the new actors and actresses who played new characters, especially Fang Yilun (Alen) and Zhou Zixin, who played major supporting roles. They showed their characters’ desperateness very well and their devastation when they couldn’t get ahold of the things they wanted to obtain the most. Although Mo Yanchen and Qu Mei’er were not exactly the most likable characters, I have to applaud Yilun and Zixin for their amazing portrayals as them.

Back to the leads. Xing Zhaolin and Liang Jie’s burning chemistry was not a surprise. They’ve had it since the first season, and the chemistry just continues to burn nonstop. Mo Liancheng and Qu Xiaotan are cuter than ever, and we can just see the love they have for each other in their eyes. Maybe I should also applaud the leads for not falling in love with each other irl yet, because the characters’ love for each other is just so pure and surreal.

Mo Liancheng has to act like the cold male lead from Season 1 again, but with a different identity, for a reason that I will not disclose, so there really wasn’t anything new about the male lead. But Xing Zhaolin acted very well during various timings, showing Mo Liancheng’s personality and temper. The Mo Liancheng in the other Dongyue is also reserved, but he was reserved in a different way due to the matriarchal society. He is not royalty anymore, but has a rather noble status. I also liked the way the drama portrayed new Mo Liancheng’s character development. I got a breath of fresh air after watching the previous two seasons. On the other hand, Qu Tan’er is now a princess and the emperor holds high expectations for her. And, there’s no better actress to act out as the emperor, Tan’er’s aunt, than Liang Jie herself. I really liked the two contrasting personalities here as it really brought out Liang Jie’s extraordinary acting skills. On one side, she’s the bouncy and bright Xiaotan and on the other side, she acts as the emperor of Dongyue, cold, poised, and rather scheming. It was nice to see Liang Jie act rather devilishly, as I normally saw her as a quiet or cute female lead.

I didn’t exactly understand the emperor’s desperation for what she wanted though, as it was clear that who she wanted was not alive anymore but she just kept thinking that there was still hope and refused to let go. That was my biggest frustration, because this poised and elegant emperor suddenly toppled down her step just because of this one person who she knew about since the beginning. (will not name the person because of spoilers)

Music-7.0
To be completely honest, I was a little disappointed when I realized that the third season was just reusing the songs used in the previous two seasons. I don’t think there was one new song. But I love the OSTs, so there’s nothing to complain about the soundtrack besides no new songs. And this could just be me, but I felt that a few bgms were a little too overused. For example, the same background music could have been used two times in just a matter of a few minutes when another bgm could have been used. Perhaps this was due to the budget, but I did get annoyed by the bgm use at some point during the watch. But as soon as I heard the OSTs again, I was flooded once again with memories of my past watches and experiences with this series, brightening my day.

Rewatch Value-7.0
I would prefer to watch the previous two seasons over the third season but I’m sure the first few episodes would be a light watch with some popcorn. Again, the middle became a little dragged, but the audience was rewarded with a cute and once again, happy ending.

Overall-8.0
I thoroughly enjoyed The Eternal Love Season 3. More interesting characters were introduced along with the welcoming back of our beloved leads and supporting characters, and cuteness and fluffiness were blended with a little desperation, darkness, and mystery. I was delighted to see our couple back on screen again, and really enjoyed their third adventure together that showed their bond even more. Again, some outside forces blocked them from being together immediately, but their love for each other stood out and was more important than anything. Season 3 is truly another successful installment of The Eternal Love Series. Happy watching!

Disappointing!!

As this is the third part of The Eternal Love series my expectations were high. They introduced many new elements in the second part, so i was hoping for a unique story this time too. The wait for the third season is now meaningless to me. I personally like to watch women empowerment and gender equality concept dramas, so this attracted my attention. But the scenes were repetitive and also the concept of 'women ruling' was already shown in 'The Romance of Tiger and Rose'. It started off well but somehow lost its charm halfway through the drama. The parellel universe thing was already hinted at in the past seasons and soul exchange was also shown in the first season.. so, i was not surprised at that. Some episodes felt like fillers and reducing the number of episodes would have helped. The ending was too rushed and the realisation by Qu xiang tan at the last moment and the behind story between her and Mo liang cheng felt awkward. The purpose of adding the kid character was pointless, they should have added few more scenes of him with the main leads. I felt like they were using the kid as a reason just to extend the emotional conversations. I'm guessing they will create a plot about the son and his powers as shown in the ending scene in the next season (if there is going to be one).

Being a fan of the cast from past two seasons i'm happy that they retained most of the actors. The chemistry between the main leads was something that made me complete three seasons. Their acting and romance was more natural in this season and Liang Jie played the dual role very convincingly. Even though there were many romantic/kiss scenes in this drama i didn't feel the spark unlike the past seasons. While i was watching this season many times i felt like rewatching the first season as that was way more funnier and refreshing. The main couple grew on me and now i'm hoping they get cast in a modern drama as the main leads!!

I tried my very best to complete this drama while it is on air as there are chances i would drop it if i had to binge watch this one.
So to conclude if they are going to release the fourth season i'll probably not watch it.

A Love that is forever a trilogy that should become a tetralogy.

The chemistry between the ML/FL made you believe more in there relationship/characters hot, cute and sweet. I'm a big fan of xing Zhao lin as an actor that's 23yo he's very mature in the roles he plays and such a cute dimple smile. I am also in awe of LianJia as an actress the way she portray her character was beyond my imagination being able to pull off the facial expression she did I sometimes felt I was watching 2 different actresses. just finished season 3 and again ???to the writers, directors, producers, set and costume people all were beautiful. This one is about there son and how happy that he isn't attached to the bead until one day. Wei zong plays the flute that brings Yu er into his parents room where they are arguing. Then all of a sudden they see yu er going towards the bead and Cheng Cheng grabs him as he turns around "boom" they get thrown to the grown. Tan'er wakes up with her past memories, but now she is Qu Xiao tan who was pushed into the lake and drowned by her jeousle sister who loved Mo yan chen and he only loved Xian tan. She learns that women are the dominate in this universe and that men are dosile. She finds out that Cheng Cheng is going to enter the palace to be a consort and she does everything possible to stop it. He work up with memories, but not theirs so now tan'er has her work cut out to win him over and to remember her and yu er. Turns out the Empress Qu xiang tan(is her aunt) also looks like her and also trying to get Mo lian Cheng who looks like the guy she loved and killed over power. The story goes on with the Mo family leading all different areas to rebal against the tyrant empress who doesn't care about the poor people. During this time CC was getting his memories back slowly, but now it's 100% and they need to figure out how do get home. The empress is using the people's money and taxing the farmers to build a building to protect the bead and her side kick official Xian Zhen who can play the flute is helping her. This is why the MO family is rebelling They keep setting up and killing everyone that interfere in the empress grand scheme that taner and Cheng Cheng are needed for. Turns out the empress is dying faster than they thought and she plans on using the flute, bead and flower to switch Tan'er body and herself. So CC is put in jail for safe keeping and they bring Taner to the secret room. Here she is handcuff to chair and Xiao is killed/Disappears while using his power on the flower then flute and the empress soul enters Taner body and collapses and the empress body dies. CC realizes something off when Taner wakes up, and he goes along with it for taner sakes, but in the interim he has Yu Hao go and steal the bead, flute and find the soul switching flower. In order to distrake her on the flower festival he pretend to dance and goes to help steal everything, they go to the mountain top where she killed her mo lian Cheng. As he playes the flute the empress appears and taner try to push her out and she goes back in. Now mad again she picks up sword and aims to kill him and stops as he tells her hes not the man she killed. She begs him to go with her as she drops off the moutain he run grabs her arm and they wake up back home. Here they find yu er and he changes the policies in court that women can takes exam and men can help with the house chores. While talking to Liu Qian shui discussing how yu'er has the bead now and realized how powerful he is, because of that he has Yu Hao arrest wei zong before more problems. They end with Cheng Cheng asking for a daughter. Has to be a setup for season 4. Yeah can't wait

More Hilarious and Heartbreaking than the Previous Seasons

Definitely a solid 9/10. This season continue that best thing the drama is famous for; full of fluffs from beginning to end. And what more surprising to me is that this season didn't disappoint at all and in my opinion more hilarious and heartbreaking than the first two. The 2nd season to me, is still the best romance drama in my book and this season followed a close second.

I love love love Lian Cheng's bewildered face everytime he turned back to the 8th Young Master after their kisses and I love how Tan'er remains positive, lively and all around playful and shameless in the pursuit of him. I personally feel that there are so many memorable romantic scenes particularly the veil wedding kiss (how awesome is that?) or the confession scene under the cherry blossom tree where Lian Cheng hangs the 100 reasons why he loves Tan'er. I have like 2345624 other favorite scenes from them in this drama but let’s not go there lol. I think this drama will always be a winner in term of coming out with sweet, creative and out of the world romantic scenes from other Xian Xia romance drama of the same genre.

Aside from that, since the drama is set in alternate Dong Yue where the women rule the government, this matriarchal system settings set some refreshing ideas that the couple has to handle. Like the usual kabedon was done by Tan'er instead and the 'Not Satisfy' trick that Lian Cheng did in the previous season was done oppositely by Tan'er. Other than that, issues which are usually women's problem and duty such as virginity, shaving, serving husband as well as managing the household are tackled excellently which cause huge embarrassment for Lian Cheng especially the shaving part. He totally didn't deserve it but the hilarity the whole plot caused is just too priceless. I also like the fact that aside from seeing it from men' POV, they also show how when women are the leaders, they have to handle money as well as difficult states' issues (which is not Tan'er's forte :P) and I like it when Lian Cheng pointed out to Tan'er that last time when she wants to indulge and make him happy, she only has to chose 'Love' and now she has to chose between 'Love' or 'Money'.

This drama has been a stress relief for me since S1, and S2 and S3 follow the exact same formula that I love. For me, it’s a first time I encountered a drama which is just full of happiness from beginning to end. Even when they face many tragedies, you know its gonna end well since they basically facing all adversities together and relying on each other. That kind of understanding is rare and this drama portray it really well.

Rewatch value is 100%. I don't think I will ever get bored watching this no matter how many times since its just full of pleasure and hilarious! Even the filler episodes are hilarious as hell. It’s like a go to drama when you just want to feel happy and relax. Lian Cheng is Lian Cheng which is a King of Teasing with or without his memories and Tan'er, is Tan'er. :D

----------------------------------------------

For all those confusion regarding the identity of Lian Cheng and Tan'er, they are all the same person for all the 3 seasons. The drama is very straightforward so if you understand the concept of parallel worlds, everything is very clear and easy to understand.

Mo Lian Cheng is the same from S1 & S2. Except this time, he is with amnesia. But he is still the same person. Young Master Lian Cheng in this new Dong Yue is the one who drawn. I guess we will never got to know him since now Lian Cheng from S1 & S2 has occupied his body in this season. While Sir Lian Cheng the doctor is Mo Lian Cheng's past life. Mo Lian Cheng has his memories as well when he went to Xianlung Continent at the end of S1. So, he is like 3 in 1 = Original Lian Cheng + Sir Lian Cheng when he got all Sir Lian Cheng's memories + 8th Prince when he combined with his body in S2. They are all the same person.

Qu Tan Er is the lady from Qu Family who is in love with Mo Yi Huai. Qu Xiao Tan went inside her body and she died at the end of S1 so this Lady Qu is no longer in the equation. S2 Xiao Tan is without memories but she got her memories back when she was kidnapped by her father at the alter and the orbs made her remember all back. That is why in the ending of S2, she mentioned Xianlung Continent to Lian Cheng to show to us that she has gotten all of her memories back. So at the end, S1 & S2 & S3 Xiao Tan is the same person. Tan'er is Qu Xiang Tan reincarnation and in this Dong Yue's timeline , Qu Xiang Tan did not die and establish Dong Yue instead of Mo Yi Feng, That is why only Lian Cheng is reborn this this timeline (Young Master Lian Cheng from Mo Family) and not Tan'er -- the body that Tan'er occupy this season just happen to have the same face as the Empress since they are Aunt & Niece but she is NOT her reincarnation as Qu Xiang Tan did not die in this timeline.

The best historical drama ever for me. The last two season i watched more than ten times. And 3 watching almost four times. I like season two more than 1 & 3.s3 have a lot of new faces. It's good. But the s2 the 2nd leads didn't get a happy ending so they're missing in s3 so it's a little bit sad. Anyway the most important thing the kissing scene is more than 80 n s3?. And i want atleast 10 seasons ?. Their chemistry is out of the world. And also in s3 the two roles of taner she just nailed it.

Where the chemistry is everything!!!?

Ok...the drama was a little bit boring..actually not every episode but ya! Some episodes weren’t good! But i love to watch them again and again and thats the reason to give the story 10/10. But I personally miss the previous 1st brother..sorry i can't remember the name now. And otherwise the friend of xao tan is really cute.. I must say xing zhao lin looked too handsome in this season rather than 1st season. And the female lead is so cute also. They look adorable together.
I would recommend every xong zhao lin fans to watch this drama. This drama is worth watching.,,
Finally..i would like to say, really love their acting and enjoyed their chemistry.. I hope to watch them together again and again in various dramas❤️.

Funny and Excellent..

I really loved the third season of this series, I preferred this one to the first two.

What I loved about this was at least it picked up where it left off, so we got to see how they went back, also the original song was kept, I just feel that this song is iconic to this these three series.

Well as for the Main couples, as always they did not disappoint, there chemistry is so real and they work really well, I love the pairing of these two. But OMG the double play of the FL was extraordinary, from the playful taner to the more serious queen, was performed really well, and the costumes throughout the whole series were amazing, on both the ML and FL, they were wore amazing outfits.

The ML was really good as well, and he captured a lot of detailed expression. he portrayed his character really nicely and did a terrific job at it. These two are amazing together, hope to see them again very soon.

Overall this series was excellent hats off to everyone who contributed and made this drama.

I think we have been spoiled on some of the Eternal series... There are only 3 that love so far and this is not one of them but it is okay. I like some stories that tell about parallel worlds... but it was just okay for me. Xing Zhao Lin, I loved his acting in this.. he played a very strong character Mo Lian Cheng. The other actor I liked who played a support role is Alen Fang. his character is Mo Yan Cheng... All others did great... All-female royalty in this one which is a good idea... The Martial arts with swords were pretty good. One set was pretty awesome and that was the one with the pearl. Pretty Magical. Anyway, that's it.

Adorable

The Eternal Love series is all about the adorable main couple and this season is not an exception. It was funny, cute and romantic.

The actors did a good job portraying their characters, but with a drama like this where the focus is heavily on the main couple, the other characters suffer loss of screentime and therefore aren't developed well. It was true in all of the seasons and even more so in this one. I didn't really have a problem with it though, because I'm mainly here for the fun and cuteness of the main couple and they always deliver.

I loved the visuals of this seasons. The scenes are beautifully filmed and the costumes are gorgeous.

All in all, I'll definitely be rewatching the whole series again.

About what we fans would expect

This was a satisfying conclusion to the The Eternal Love series. We finally got our big-budget drama of Mo Lian Cheng and Qu Tan Er!

Things I liked about this drama:
-Our beloved main couple <3
-The humor-- all 3 of the dramas maintain the same feel and humor
-The costumes
-Mo Lian Cheng's bangs. They look way better now XD
-All the references to the past dramas, especially the first
-"I'm not satisfied"
-No breakups, no distrust, and LOTS of kissing!
-Yun Xiu!! I have no idea why, I just really really liked him and his character.
-The plot was more complex than the past two dramas, and I was really intrigued by the empress the entire time

Things I disliked:
-As was the case with the first two dramas, the plot was pretty all-over-the-place. The writer for this drama series has a lot of potential, but just couldn't seem to handle a bigger production with more episodes and budget.
-The middle (ep 13-22) was pretty boring. I can deal with the crazy plotlines, but heaven forbid I get BORED watching The Eternal Love!
-The side couples were fun, but they did absolutely nothing to move the plot along. The whole Yun Xiu storyline literally amounted to nothing. It was just a filler for screen time.
-For some reason, I had a hard time believing the whole "matriarchy" set up. I think it could've done with more "world-building," or showing us more examples of the matriarchy and the different world they lived in. That's something TROTAR did really well.
-The pacing was just strange. Things got so much better when Mo Lian Cheng recovered his memories.

Overall, I feel satisfied with this drama. I'm not sure I'll go back and watch it again. The storyline and characters feel tired and watered-down at this point. I love this series, but it's time everyone moved on to other projects.
