The name of the drama is a LIE

My review contains a spoiler, but in my opinion it's a necessary spoiler.

When I started this drama I thought it was pretty okay, a bit cringy at times but still okay.

Then, The Twist happened, and I dropped this drama pretty much immediately.
They just casually said "Lol everything is a lie and the male lead is legit a gaslighting abuser but that's okay right? <3"
NO, it is NOT OKAY. I simply refuse to keep watching something that literally glorifies emotional abuse and manipulation and tries to brush them under the rug like it's nothing. My advice to you is that you do the same. Do not watch this, or if you do, don't say I didn't warn you. This is such a disgusting series and I can't believe it got a second season.

just don't

acting great i actually really liked. actors had great chemistry and each had own thing.
and the main couple was a really good match and different with the usual very little skinship. they had a lot
and actually seemed like a real couple

plot good, but after episode 11 things went into the shit show.
i just dropped it after that, also the plot became really messy and stupid.
HE FAKED THAT SHE WAS ILL, and they tried to turn it into some fairytale.
like nah, i wasted my time don't waste yours.

very disturbing, and not in any way that could be considered good

There are TONS of reviews saying the same thing so I won't go too much into it, but I'll just say if you're even considering giving this drama the benefit of the doubt, stop right there. Don't watch it. Just don't. If you desperately want to, I'd stop at around ep 10 or 11. But it's better if you don't watch it all.

I gave this drama a few more stars just because the acting isn't bad, the chemistry is there, and the humor was doable. But the so-called plot twist is so sick and disturbing, and the worst part is the drama never acknowledges that. It's like all the people in the production of this drama thought it was okay for these kinds of things to happen. The male lead, while at first just seemingly assertive and confident, is manipulative, abusive, and aggressive. And no, no reviewer is overreacting or exaggerating. It's really that bad. I couldn't continue watching because this plot twist made me sick to the stomach, especially since no one ever addresses how horrible and not okay it is.

Honestly i never thought that a 20 ep drama could feel like so long. Like did writers use even a little of logic or common sense while writing, or they had their brain grazing in the field all along. Finally m done watching it but like seriously, even cartoons and animes make more sense than this.
It really could have been a good drama but seriously i will seriously say they ruined it this bad it cant be any better.

Plot and Acting: Ok it goes like a cute modern drama story like a cold rich man, grandma pestering for marriage, and contract marriage. Female lead story was also doing pretty good all along like sick girl and she need help from Male Lead. But the ways the female lead kept approaching the main lead were so childishly written like it would be like you are watching a cartoon for toddlers. Ok thats still abit cute till there. But a quater after frst half is like so annoying.

Like the man is crazy, ok they mean to show the possessive character trait which he changed, But if it was supposed to be that way ACTOR DID A TERRIBLE JOB, because it was cute throughout . The story and atmosphere was purely mismatched. He does passionate things which are ridiculous, but there is no ridicule in the atmosphere like seriously. And there is no character development in any character.

For main plot and leads, both failed to come upto the expectations. Neither the plot was well written, nor the leads did it well, but their way rathar made show less serious than it is, making it easy to continue until the episode end.

Other than that the supporting characters did their parts pretty well and made more sense than mains

Rewatch Value: well I have many good dramas in my bag so at least i wont be rewatching it any sooner. But if u plan to, just give ur mind a holiday while u r watching it because it makes no sense. It would be pretty well and cute until u dont talk about some common sense.

You may watch to pass the time ???? it is not that bad - it just acting stiff. I think the most ‘okay’ is female lead and second male lead. However female lead really not suit this character as she keeps emphasis that she is only 20 years old - but she look like 35 years old ????????‍♀️ Her acting okay, but imagine she playing 20 years old role - certain casts does have baby face but her look very mature. So casting here wasn’t satisfied as well as other roles in this drama. The rest like newbie / when expressing certain expression at certain situation - I skipped. So most of the time I just watch lead couple moments - plot okay, just in the end when male lead explained the reason he like the female lead and courting her....illogical I guess ???? it just a drama anyway, can watch to pass time :)

????????

drama is indeed good, though nothing special. the best part is the friends are real friends till the very end and this is one of the biggest YES for me in Dramas.
the creep game is on level God, though it was weird still was funny.
In overall chemistry is good, story is ok- there are real psychos and detestable human beings.
In overall I would give 7.9/10 - if you have watched many alike dramas and is looking for something similar style, then this is pretty fine. If it is first time- I'd rather advise to look for better dramas. Not bad, but not good enough to put in my top 10.

So I just finished Season 1 for Nine days straight 😭 I have a looot of pending cdramas to watch, I think we all are haha! But I just couldn't find a certain cdrama that will help me move on from FIYS 🤷 I meant, it's one of the best decision I made, watching this first!

I dont know if this cdrama is underrated or not but I will rate it 9/10!! It's worth watching! I was super into the lead actor (Xu Kai Cheng) and he had a good suave personality, as well as being caring, thoughtful and has a husband material vibe 😭 He is like a chinese version of Mr. Grey haha very much dominant for his role, he also reminds me of my crush Danniel Henney a korean actor 🥰

I honestly enjoyed the first 10 episodes, their cheesy thing hahaha the couple looks great together in one frame, omg plus the kissing scenes are on fire 🔥 hays, from that moment, I thought they werent acting anymore. Haha Ling Yi Zhou (Xu Kai Cheng) and Xia Lin (Simona Wang) looks so natural for a married couple!

And yes! I would recommend this to you all. Haha after all, I couldn't resist and love the lead actor, Xu Kai Cheng 😍

You all should watch this!!!!♡♡♡♡

This has every single modern romance cliche with an uninteresting cast of characters.

it’s starts off okay and despite all the common tropes (rich boy/poor girl, cold boy/lively girl, chance encounter, evil ex’s, love triangle, etc...) it’s still effective.

And then the story continues and we get into ridiculous plots with evil characters who manage to still get away with things. The actors aren’t that interesting, but the script doesn’t do them any favors either so I don’t know who to flault.

But when a guy is apologizing for being too controlling, he could not give her earrings....with a GPS tracker. Come on!!! How is this an acceptable way to NOT control your girlfriend? UGH!

A stupid quibble — whoever is doing the hair on the men needs to find a new job. it’s not flattering and I feel the desperate need to send them all some conditioner since their hair looks painfully dry and brittle.

Anyway, skip it since there are better ways to spend your time.

The story is cliche, but it can still hook you quite a bit. The story is full of many cute moments of the main couple that save the entire series from being bad. For a drama that is being supported by Netflix, I find the quality is very disappointing. The story plot is weak and the drama while having a lot of good casts, it looked like being made with a low budget. The main male character is good looking and cunning, but head over heel with the main lady. If you are a romanticist by heart and love cheesy stuff, this drama can be for you.

Lemme make a checklist, romance - yes, funny - yes, story - uh, probably not.

This drama tried to incorporate a fairy-tale love story with cheesy lines, manipulated situations by the hero and, light hearted and lovely supporting characters. Hence, if you are searching for any practicality or idealism in this drama, then strictly REFRAIN from doing so!.

When you'll look at the story, it's practically not possible in real life. I mean, a person marrying someone in exchange of saving his or her life. I mean common!. How can anyone be so dumb to believe that a billionaire would like to get married to you without any ulterior motive. But my people, this is the thing here - YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO SEARCH FOR ANY LOGIC. The flow of the drama has been kept very soft, in the sense that you'll outright understand that it won't be having any big sudden twists or tearful sad scenes. Yes, their were times when the love between the leads was tested, yet it won't be heart prickly sad. The twists were miserable, I mean it didn't felt digestible. There was no big reason for the step - brother to be this evil. However, remember to not look deep into the story as you'll lose your mind. This drama only tends to spread soft romance by killing everything else.

When we come to acting and character development, I can firmly state that the leads had a good chemistry among them and actually looked perfect for their characters. The hero did a good job portraying the handsome and suave CEO. He could portray the coldness and the mischief quite perfectly from his face. At times, he even looked desperate while trying to save his marriage with the female lead and was always quick to understand her indications behind her each and every action. He totally rocked the possessive romantic man look. But be cautious, in real life, some of his actions would look creepy and stalker-ish. The female lead perfectly played the role of a lovely, innocent, mischievous woman. She is very down to earth and values her dignity. The supporting cast also wee a good addition for the overall love quotient of the show, especially the funny moments of Wen Li.

So overall, is it a good drama? Probably yes for those who only wants to see cheesy romance and can let go of their expectations to find any sane reasoning behind the scenes. And my dear friends, I must tell you that there is huge target market for these cheesy romance dramas.

As per the re-watch value, well probably I'll be back to see some of the romance clippings with my boyfriend but for the entire show? - I don't think I can ever do that. It is purely a one time watch but a good one, but strictly for the target viewers.

A very good enjoyable drama

I've watched hundreds of dramas but never write a review and this is my first :)
Idk why so many people hate this drama so much it maybe because of the toxic love story and the obsessive ML. It's cringey but I like it, the chemistry is there and the portrayal from Xu Kaicheng and Simona Wang as a newlyweds is so good. The acting of the cast is OK and watchable but the FL acting is still lack a bit. I almost drop it at ep. 11 like others do, but I keep watching and in later episodes there is big character development on the ML. In some flashback it tells the back story of the ML how he became like that. He is obsessive and controlling freak because he follow his father step who is also did the same things to his mother. The ML is obsessed with the FL and want to own her only for himself, so he did those unbelievable things cause he don't know how to approached her but deep down inside he cares so much for the her. This Season 1 is better than Season 2 in my opinion because it has better plot. I enjoy this drama very much, if you like contract marriage, cold male lead drama you can give this one a try and OMG! Xu Kaicheng is so dreamy hot :D

Haven’t finished this drama yet but honestly just another preposterous Chinese drama. Makes drama makjang look logical. There is a reason kdramas are more popular. As lazy as some Korean scripts are written, nothing compares to Chinese nonsense. Sad part is up until episode 10 it was okay. I’ve only have liked one two Chinese dramas out of maybe 12. Why Netflix supported this and how people give this more than a 7 is a mystery.

You can see the plot twist in episode 11 coming a mile away, but it still is comical. The fact that the male main fools the female into believing she has leukemia is sadistic, cruel, sociopathic, and begs belief. Because, yeah, a hospital in China along with it personnel are willing to go to PRISON for their actions. Yet to finish this but willing to bet dollars for dounuts she really does get leukemia in the end, and would not be surprised if they don’t Kill her off.

What sloppy, immature, self indulgent, and lazy writing.
