Little Love Song (2019)

A song that connects you with anyone.

First off, I saw the title of this movie "little love song" and thought to try it out. I had low and I mean low expectations because it looked like a usual high school music movie. I decided to give this movie a shot and it blew me away which made me write a review for it.

Story: This movie teaches you about friendship, music, and life. While watching the movie, I kept thinking about the title of this movie in English and Japanese. I thought that it sound familiar and then I realized oh its that song Chiisana koi no uta. This movie was based on that famous song Chiisana koi no uta and the band Mongol800. I'm not sure how accurate if the movie was fully based on the band's true story or not but it still was a beauty to watch. I enjoyed the ways the characters had a motivation goal to keep playing their music. Whether it was for someone gone or someone who was leaving, they loved music and wanted to play it. I thought the interaction with Lisa (american girl) was different to a youth music movie. Having 3 band members put more focus on each member and gave them a better identity in the movie. I wish they had more scenes of the relationship between Mai and her brother to showcase how much he meant to her. I think more bands having a female member in it with males work out well and we should see more of them in movies/life. They wanted to play their song for the school festival/lost friend, then for a memory of their american friend, and last for their love of playing. The love of music is powerful.

Acting/Cast : I looked at this cast and didn't recognize anyone. I'm not really a big fan of the newer actors today but I was introduced to some in this film. I think the main cast who played the students didn't look too old as students, they fit quite well enough. The actress who played Lisa was fine. I didn't care much about the other "american" actors.

Music: The strongest point of the film is the music of course. Chiisana koi no uta is a famous song in Japan and the many versions of someone new singing it doesn't disappoint. The other 2 main songs in the film "Sayonara doll" and "Anata Ni" were also good. Both fit the mood of who they were singing it for.

Re watch: Yes I want to re watch this movie. My before expectations were at low then after watching the movie, I am at a very high for re watch value. It has two things of a movie I enjoy youth and music.

Overall : This movie is a hidden gem and more people need to watch this. The ups and downs they go through and their love for music is a joy.

Waouh, ce film est un pure chef-d’œuvre. Je me devais d'écrire une review à son propos (ma première review d'ailleurs)

Que dire sur ce film.. Pour commencer il raconte l'histoire de jeunes qui rêvent et aspirent à la musique mais qui vont faire face à une tragédie et vont devoir s'en relever. Chacun des personnages a sa propre raison de chanter et/ou jouer d'un instrument. C'est un film qui parle d'amitié, de jouer de la musique pour les personnes que l'on aime.

En voyant que le film durait 2h j'ai eu un peu peur qu'à des moments il traîne en longueur et/ou soit trop long mais pas du tout, il mérite parfaitement ces 2h complet. Elles sont passées en un rien de temps.

Je suis quelqu'un qui extrêmement fan et qui préfère les relations amicales dans tous les dramas/films que je regarde est j'ai était tellement émue, j'ai tellement adoré toutes les relations entre nos personnages.
Je crois que la relation et les interactions de tous nos personnages avec Lisa (la fille américaine) sont mes préférés. Tout est tellement doux, je sais pas trop comment l'expliquer.. c'était tellement beau à voir. Même en ce qui concerne la barrière de la langue, ils ont bien retransmis ça à travers le film, le fait de vouloir communiquer quand on ne parle pas la même langue et surtout le fait que parler deux langues différentes n’empêche pas de créer des liens.
L'amitié de Mai et Lisa reste une de mes préférées je pense, j'aime vraiment leurs interactions.

Le fait qu'il n'y est pas d'histoire d'amour n'est pas ressenti comme un manque, au contraire les relations/amitiés sont d'autant plus belles. (Après c'est peut-être tout simplement une préférence personnelle au vu du genre de drama/film que j'aime.)
Si, après le seul semblant d'amour qu'il y a c'est l'histoire entre Shinji et Lisa et ça embellit le film, les sentiments qu'ils ont l'un pour l'autre, qu'ils ont construit à travers ce grillage sont magnifiques.

Niveau émotions.. J'ai versé littéralement toutes les larmes de mon corps en regardant ce film haha (bon j'avoue je suis quelqu'un qui devient émotive et à les larmes aux yeux facilement devant les séries/films). Mais ce film-là est pleins d'émotions, j'ai pleuré de tristesse mais aussi de bonheur (spécialement dans la dernière demi-heure du film j'ai pleuré en continue mdr)

Pour parler des OST, de la musique, je ne connaissais aucune des chansons originales donc je vais seulement parler des reprises faites par Chiisana Koi no Uta Band. Elles sont extraordinaire, sérieusement je m'écoute Chiisana Koi no Uta et Don't Worry, Be Happy en boucle (surtout Chiisana Koi no Uta, j'aime tellement) quant aux 2 autres elles sont vraiment belles aussi.

Pour parler de l'acting, je connaissais déjà Sano Hayado (de Fake Motion et Rin) et Suzuki Jin (de Given) sinon tout le reste du casting pour moi était une découverte. Étant déjà fan de Sano Hayado (qui est aussi une des raisons qui m'a poussée à regarder ce film) j'étais trop contente de le retrouver ici et les autres acteurs ont fait un travail incroyable.
Petite mention pour Tomiko Claire (qui incarne Lisa), je trouve l'actrice vraiment jolie et son sourire est magnifique.

Pour conclure ce film est vraiment un 10/10, je pourrais très certainement le revoir encore et encore.
