A good drama but not a excellent one

STORY: The story was pretty much the same as most of the high school dramas and it contained all the clichés the kdrama land has at first it went on good but after that it just became repetitive and the last 2 episodes were so rushed.
CAST: All the actors potrayed there character very well especially Park Yoon ah/Kang soo jin her character was really beautiful one in the drama but they spoiled it really badly they could have done better to her.
OST: Well the OST were fine but not for my taste i listened to them twice or thrice and got tired of them i think i kiked only one OST all of them.
REWATCH VALUE: Sincs i don't rewatch any drama i gave it a 1 but if i keep that aside and deside to rewatch i would be skipping half the things and the 16 hours drama would be finished in 4 hours .
OVERALL:Its fine but after some episodes the plot got lost her getting bullied and why she put on make up became secondary and her falling for the main lead became the primary thing they didn't depict the main reason properly in drama and it was shown more of like bits and pieces after ep 4.

JUSTİCE FOR SEOJUN

As of the last two episodes, i practically hate true beauty. Seojun's ending was ABSOLUTELY horrible. The BEST character EVER got the saddest ending. While Seojun was too good for really anyone in the show, i will never forgive the writers for giving suho the girl. Suho DİD NOT deserve her like Seojun did. The only reason İ gabe it some good ratings is because of how great of an actor Hwang İn Yeop is. He is legit a master of micro acting. İ still cry at the thought of the scenes of him crying and being dead inside.

The Ugly Duckling Story

I did not read the story's webtoon, yet it still was very predictable, at least for me. When a story becomes predictable, then you know it's cliche. A girl bullied because she is "ugly" then becomes "beautiful," and now everyone loves her. Even until the very end, including the romance, was predictable. It might be something the majority of the viewers enjoy but definitely not me. I really liked the acting of all the characters but the main female lead. Her acting kept reminding me that it is a show and she is an actress. In other words, to my eyes, it was forced. I am sure other of the roles she played are great. But, I don't feel there was a connection to the webtoon's character other than their physical resemblance. Regardless, the comedy was there. It was pretty enjoyable because of the other couples whose interactions were great. The bromance was good. After two episodes, I was tired. I would not rewatch it. But if you want, give it a try. This is only my review and my take on the drama. You might have a different perspective.

WHAT IS THE HYPE FOR ?

If you are looking for something new , this is not it ; yes I agree all the leads are eye candy but story ??????
Quick summary
Ugly girl , boy knows , becomes beautiful; boy recognizes , secret out , boy protects , they date , seperate , meet , seperate , second ml lead's sacrifice , happy ending
What I Liked ?
1.As I said male leads are eye candy so if you wanna watch for the actors go ahead .
2.Second female lead is absolutely great , she is not the psycho who chases after the male lead and has her own struggles
3. The cast has done an amazing job but the story lacked
What I disliked
The Not Good story , same old tropes , also the male lead gets toxic while dating , I mean the directors tried to merge fluffy with lil bit sadness but just NO .

if you like rom-coms true beauty is a must watch

I loved this drama! It may seem like your typical cliche drama, but the story actually builds quite nicely. I liked how there were serious topics being brought up, while the comedy level wasn't lacking and was compensating for all the underlying sadness. Plus, (I don't want to sound cheesy but..) the level of cute high school romance was enough to give me butterflies. Anyway, I almost never cry when I'm watching a movie or a drama, but unexpectedly, I cried for this one. This made me realize how much the characters grew on me and how much I loved True Beauty. All of the cast members did so great with this drama, almost to the point where I didn't feel like they were acting at all. Ga Young, Eun Woo and In Yeop have seriously grown on me and I will continue to keep tabs on them.

This drama is for sure a must watch and should be put onto your watchlists, but there were some areas I wish they did better on. One major thing is that the supporting characters are really underdeveloped. Other than being friends with the main cast or going to the same school, the viewers don't know anything about them. It didn't affect the storyline or cause confusion, I just wished we got to know the supporting characters too, since they also play a big part. Another downside is that the beginning and the end of the drama were the best parts. The middle was a little uneventful and it made the drama seem heavy at times (if that makes sense). Regardless, you should watch it! There are so many references (to other movies and dramas) and familiar faces (guest actors) that made a cherry on top. So get your stuff together and start binging.

(I didn't read the web-toon)

Suprisingly I enjoyed this drama. And Han Seo Jun became my second Chilbongie, just the nicest soul through and through. And Hwang In Yeob was such a scene stealer. His comedic timing was superb and such a treat to watch him on screen. And I think out of all the cast he was the an absolute perfection in being cast as Seo Jun. Moon Ga Young was always a cutie and no difference in this drama either.

Cha Eun Woo's acting wasn't much of my cup of tea. But I can see him improving in future. He was so handsome on screen I got distracted half of the time. Especially in Ep 16, his visual was just on fire. I felt he was very stiff in most scenes. Wish he could improve more because he looked like he was working hard.

Story wise I am more happy with the drama than the webtoon. They def did more justice to the characters and the plot than the manga.

Anyone who would like a nice easy rom com, def give it a try.

Let’s talk about

At first, it was okay. They showed Jukyung’s back story which is good because they didn’t specify in webtoon (maybe they did but i stopped reading). I liked the beginning but it starts to go downhill. The plot was the same as other kdramas. The acting was a lil cringey imo. I dont know why they made Mun Ka Young’s voice like that. It doesn’t really suit her. She was talking in baby voice which kind of annoyed me. Eunwoo needs to get casted with different roles. His roles are always the same, stalker type roles. Seo joon deserves better because he was waiting for Jukyung but she still went back to the boy who ghosted her for 2 years. Overall I didn’t really like the drama. The webtoon has been going on for long that they’re stretching it out. But if you like these type of dramas then maybe you should check it out.

Usual cliché teen ron-com drama.

It's kinda fun and entertaining in the beginning, but became so boring. I actually like the message that going to be delivered from this drama, but it didn't conveyed well, and turned out like usual cliché teen ron-com drama (Well, I shouldn't expect too high for romantic comedy drama since the first).

I like Soo Jin character the most, her building character was great at the beginning, which is pity because the writer did her dirty after that. Luckily, she 'repented' at the end of the episode. If not, I might have rated it 2.

Also, they seems to make Seojun only for baiting viewers, he definitely deserves more. Poor him.

The cast did great job with their acting. However, the romance part annoyed me the most, because it was too mature and childish at the same time. I think Asian high school students usually don't do romantic things like that lmao.

The episode is too much, it should be ended with 10 ep only, no need to be rambling and get to the point of the message that want to convey. The school life also portrayed unrealistically.

Well, beside that, I like the ost so much, especially Starlight by Cha Ni.

Good approach and then nothing really

Okie so, I have read the webtoon upto 80 chapters (I think) then I dropped it because the story was literally becoming so dumb. Always stretching the same scenarios and then back to square one! (I WAS FRUSTRATED)

I became sucha big fan when I first started it and now to go back there I think it was mainly because of the art style? Because the drawings were really attractive (still are) and I'm sure, many people got involved because of that. However right now, if I were to read it again from the start I would probably die out of cringe.

With that being said, I was still excited for this adaptation- Moon Ga-Young is one of the actresses I enjoy watching. Honestly, never expected much from Cha Eun-Woo's side. I've seen mostly all the pieces he have acted in and yes, he doesn't have many expressions.

His crying scenes were really bad!! No emotion whatsoever in his eyes. It's the same damn gaze always- hurt, jealousy, joy, anger..it is all the same? As compared to him, Hwang In-Yeop did a better job atleast. I haven't watched him in anything before but needless to say, he is with no doubt better and definately adds the flavours in the drama.

As for the storyline, it's okay-ish type when you're bored--looking for a light rom-com watch but right now while this drama is ongoing- it's especially really annoying at points and the events...where's the progress ugh?!

I found the scene of Su-Ho pushing Ju-Kyeong away, labelling helping and comforting her out of pity SO SO ridiculous? I mean wtf? And then, the next day you're already chasing her back and she's okay with all that?? Like fuck off--atleast explain that please iidbxkdk

Damn anyways, I still stay up around 2am to watch this drama (that's around the time when the new ep gets subbed usually), and I really really enjoy some of the situations. It's a good laugh I'd say but if you were to dig deep, it's nothing special.

The music though is a MOOD. 10/10

Edit: Update since I've watched 10 episodes now and um, what was that scene in the end where Suho was stuck in nowhere when him and Seojun got hit by the car?? T-T

Also, they're doing Seojun so dirty jxbsjc like he doesn't even seem like a second lead anymore when a large amount of audience is watching because of him *heartbreak* It's already 10 episodes and I dont think Jugyeong's going to like Seojun romantically anywhere now,, whatever man ughh

Alright, new EDIT: I am dropping this title! It IS surely better than the webtoon but not the best with all the cringe still there so ye, maybe will pick it up again when I am down sometime but for now I dont think I can indulge myself into watching something I genuinely dont feel interested in even if it's breaking records *sighs* byebye!!

Why should/shouldn't watch TRUE BEAUTY...

To start with, this drama was originally created in a webtoon series which was written by YAONGYI. To be honest, even though the comic version is still incomplete but she really nailed it. The way she draws and portraits each and every character in that comic was just unbelievable. And yet TvN really spoiled it very badly. At first, I was super excited about the drama version of this comic but watching the ending made many viewers feel very disappointed including myself.

About the cast of the drama, everyone has done their roles very well and made many viewers fall for their charm and beauty. At the same time, the second lead characters of the drama didn't get to participate much in the drama. I don't wanna spoil what happened in the comic and also in the drama. As a true webtoon series fan, the only thing that I can mention here is that the comic version and the drama version both are completely different. They changed most of the plot in the drama where it had a really boring ending. The actors who played the second lead character, Hwang In-Yeop and Park Yoo Na had very least parts in the drama but they caught everyone's eye in this drama.

I'm not supposed to give any spoilers about the drama or the comic but still, I have to convince the readers with my review. According to the Webtoon version, Suho will be Jugyeong's first boyfriend, and one part he'll leave her as he has to take care of his dad who was seriously ill. Eventually, they both broke up. Then soon, Seojun will be her boyfriend and took care of her very well like literally how all the girls want their boyfriend to be. To be honest, Seojun was just the perfect version of a boyfriend that all the girls need. Later on, Suho will return from the States (if I'm not mistaken) and they will remain as friends. Somehow in the end Seojun and Jugyeong will break up too as Sejun was an idol who was supposed to be debuting soon. Some Seojun fans claimed that he was having a dating scandal with Jugyeong as they always took pictures in the same place and post it on their social media platform. Seojun's agency didn't want to have any problem with Seojun's debut so they talked very badly to Jugyeong and made her dump Seojun just like that. Actually, Seojun refused badly to Jugyeong about their sudden break, and yet he respected her decision on this problem. Days flew by, Suho entered a cooking class to make himself busy as possible while Seojun was busy with his debut as he was a successful rookie in his beginning. Jugyeong made herself busy by going on a few blind dates but it didn't work out as it was not to her expectation level. So that was the incomplete comic version story.

For the drama version, it is completely different. Suho and Jugyoeng were in a relationship but then Soojin like Suho because he was friends with her for 10 years and he's always concern about Soojin as she get bitten by her dad. On the other hand, Seojun likes Jugyeong because he finds her attractive and kind. Somehow Seojun controlled his emotions towards Jugyeong and supported his friend Suho. I don't wanna spoil anymore about the drama... HEHEHEHE!!!! You can watch it if u want to know the whole story. Sorry if you're not happy or excited while reading my review but thus is the truth trust. Especially if you're in TEAM SEOJUN. definitely ypu will feel stress and disappointed.

Light and fun drama, but not perfect.

Okay, first of all, don't expect a deep and meaningful story, it's a fun high school drama so don't take it too seriously. It has a few cliches but I still enjoyed it.

As a reader of the webtoon I was really excited about the drama, but if you're a fan of the webtoon don't expect it to be the same. That being said, I REALLY enjoyed the changes they made, they made it more dramatic in terms of the story between Suho and his father and the story behind Seyoon. I also liked that they gave more focus on Jugyeong liking make up and pursuing that career, something they kinda forgot about on the webtoon. And something more I also really liked, was the fact that Jugyeong could overcome her issue with her bare face, even if it wasn't the best way (hello? dermstologist?)

As #TeamSuho I was greatly pleased they actually dating in the drama. Eunwoo's and Gayoung's scenes are really cute and I love their chemestry. We love realistic dating in dramas, holding hands, hugging and kissing goodbye.

But I think we can all agree that Seojun is the best boy. He started off rude and not very forgiving, giving a hard time to Suho, but after the accident he was just the best and always chose to respect Suho AND Jugyeong. I wish we could've seen more of his friendship with Suho :(

The last two episodes really took it downwards for me. I really liked it up till episode 14, even the first part of 15 but they just ruined it with Suho coming back and acting like nothing happened. I love Suho but it left a bad taste :/ How can he just expect everything to be the same? His first reactiong wasn't even to apologize.

As I said before, I'm Team Suho, and I'm happy they got back together, I get why they broke up, and it's okay for Jugyeong to give him a second chance, but that treatment Seojun got? It's just wrong :(

Really problematic and overall dated plot that does not hold up

I guess it is clear to say that this drama had an insane amount of hype due to the popularity of the webtoon. The webtoon itself is also poorly written so I didn't expect much from the drama. The only positives were that the cast matches the characters in the webtoon really well! That being said...... the rest is a trainwreck. The drama is problematic as the FL is deemed "ugly" because her cheeks are red, she has some pimples and she wears glasses. This plotline is too tropy so it doesn't make any sense that she gets so severely bullies just for that. I also hate the character development of Suho, he straight up becomes her stalker towards the end. He seems to have these obsessive tendencies which just don't sit well with me. In my opinion, the support actors were more entertaining to watch. If you like the actors or the webtoon then you might be able to get through this but it was pretty difficult for me.
