Just the ending alone would’ve earned a solid 8 from me!

As with all things, there were a lot of good parts and a lot of bad parts, but the build-up to the ending was just perfect in my opinion.  I feel like the ending made perfect sense (except how did he know where to find her?) if I think about it:

**spoiler**

The original talisman was created from one woman’s devotion to ensure his safety. When she passed, that talisman lost its owner and rendered useless since that devotion is gone.  Now, we have In  Na who loves him so much that despite having her memory wiped by an unseen force, she is able to regain that memory and that love (not devotion) created a new talisman.  So the rule for the first talisman is for him to be in danger, the rule for the new phone talisman is for her love to him (who knows?).

To me, that’s the perfect ending to this drama, given that if he kept using the first talisman, wouldn’t their love be built on someone else’s devotion?  And if the second talisman wasn’t created, then why are we watching a star/time-crossed lovers overcoming obstacles to find each other (but then this raises the question: why couldn’t he had created one of his own?  I think because he was ready to give her up so that she isn’t weighted down by her memories of him?)?

**end spoiler**

But to each of their own.  I would definitely recommend this drama, just for the ending alone!!!!

This is probably the most romantic Korean drama I have ever seen. And it had a wonderful ending. Unlike those dramas which are good in the beginning but leave you with a disappointing final episode. The chemistry between the two leads was off the charts. I basically started watching this show after I finished w two worlds. There are similarities between the two. For example the male lead has a tragic past, he is also intelligent and charming like kang chul. But unlike w which focused more on the action part Queen In Hyuns Man focuses more on the romance. The characters here are better developed too. But nevertheless you have to be a little patient with this show as it is slow paced. The first couple of episodes were actually a little boring and the plot dragged sometimes. This was an old drama so the cinematography isn't as impressive as it is for kdramas nowadays. But the beautiful tale of star-crossed lovers more than makes up for all its flaws.

I adored this drama. They did just about everything right. The story was tightly written, there were twists and turns everywhere, and every action had a consequence. As far as characters go, the actors that were chosen were spot on. You'll fall in love with the heroine by episode four, and the hero is not your typical drama hero. He's swoony in a way that most dramas just don't touch on; smart and serious but with a streak of good humor that just makes you smile.

Their relationship is wonderful, and draws you in from the start. Seriously, my heart hurt in all the best of ways. I have rewatched again and again, and if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend that you do!

THAT’S NOT THE PURPOSE OF A TIE, KIM BOONG DO

This drama falls into the category of dramas I call a “fast paced mess” because it involves a lot of events during the entire length of the drama that end up feeling very repetitive and overly angsty to the point that you may stop enjoying the drama altogether. It seems a lot of dramas fall into this trap. Some that I can recall off the top of my head are Boys Over Flowers and Personal Taste. It’s almost like the main, intended storyline happens too fast, so the writers have to tack on unnecessary challenges toward the end of the drama to make it a little bit longer. Frankly, the last 2 episodes of Queen In Hyun’s Man were redundant and a little annoying to watch. Similarly, I felt like the writers had used the “he gets very very injured, teleports 300 years to the future, and gets his ass saved by modern medicine” card a little too many times. I would have loved to see more things happen to the lead characters besides the male lead constantly fighting some hooligans and getting arrows stuck in his chest. For some reason I just felt disconnected from the characters in this drama. Could be the short length, could be the side plot about the political struggle in Kim Boong Do’s timeline taking time out of the necessary character development. I just wasn’t really feeling it I guess? There was lots of blood and lots of lengthy separation that also got quite repetitive towards the end. There’s only so many times I can watch Hui Jin cry about Boong Do disappearing into thin air before I stop caring altogether. I did enjoy the story. I never felt like I was forcing myself to watch it (unless you disregard the last few episodes) but there was just too much unnecessary angst to justify a higher rating than a 7 for this drama. I did cry once so I guess I was quite emotionally invested. All in all, I am left with only one thought that I can’t seem to put to rest: what if he suffocated in a building when switching timelines? Just the thought of him teleporting to the future only to find himself inside a wall or some closed off space is something that I literally can’t stop thinking about. What if he stepped a meter to the right and teleported inside the tree hmm?

Queen In Hyun's man was a pleasant surprise for me. Usually when I watch time travel dramas, and I have watched almost all of them at this point, I prefer them to take place in the past. I also usually prefer when the female lead is the one doing the time traveling. This drama reversed both preferences. Queen In Hyun's Man married some of my favorite tropes, actors, and genres into one perfect sugar coated blend of romance and drama.

First let me talk about Yoo In Na. I love her. It was this drama that made me love her. That is a huge accomplishment. I am notoriously harsh on kdrama actresses and before Yoo In Na did not really have a favorite. But thanks to this drama I can now say that Yoo In Na is my queen of dramaland. Now for her in the actual drama. I loved how soft-spoken yet strong Hee Jin was. She works incredibly hard but also clearly enjoys her job and doesn't let it get in the way of the rest of her life. She doesn't allow people to belittle her or her achievements and readily calls out things she sees as unfair on set. Yet, she is also understanding and willing to accept the unexpected. It is a combination of these qualities that allow her to connect with Boong Do. Boong Do too is a character of note. He is proper to a fault, as befitted his time, intelligent, yet readily silly and funny in turn. He too knows who he is and where his loyalties lie. His devotion to the real Queen In Hyun is admirable and elevates him to a knight worthy chivalry. He compliments Hee Jin in all the right ways and their romance felt genuine and soft. This couple can also lay claim to one of my favorite kisses in dramaland. (This is probably because Yoo In Na and Ji Hyun Woo were dating for much of the production but nevertheless they delivered a genuine romantic feeling). I found myself blushing throughout much of this drama. It was sugar sweet almost all the way through. And even in the parts where the sweetness gave way to bitterness or sadness one could always feel the underlying love between these two characters.

I loved this drama and wish more dramas could be this simple and sweet. It leaves you with a good feeling and full of hope for love and life.

Queen of Dramas

This was one of my first Dramas to watch. I absolutely fell in love with it! I have watched and rewatched it several times and I just cannot get sick of it no matter how many times I see it. There is action, adventure, intrigue, a history lesson, and romance spewing out of every episode. Seriously, this is a good drama to start with if you haven't seen any before. This was my second K-Drama and I will admit that it was this drama that made me catch the drama fever. It'll keep you hooked and sitting at the edge of your seat to see what happens next. Round & Square.

A series is, of course, a made-up story. It's just a movie. But the foil is the known reality: How do people deal with each other, how are social and economic conditions? Some things are obviously different in Asia/Korea than in the West. So many things seem strange to me, in detail:
The wage-dependent manager Jo Soo Kyung, for example, allows herself a tone toward her boss, the FL, that ranges from coercion to impertinence. In addition, she presumes to manipulate the FL's private life and personal relationships in an irresponsible manner.

She would not take responsibility if she destroyed the FL's happiness in life. She acts out of selfish motives as a matchmaker and on the other hand tries to prevent the FL's relationship that she does not like. We know that in boy/girl groups probably often bad conditions prevail, but here there is only 1 boss and 1 manager.

This raises the question: Is this common behavior? I don't really believe it, it will be due to the exaggeration of the authors.

Moreover, FL has to deal with the aggressive, threatening and possessive behavior of the ex-lover. His way of yelling at people, screaming at them, intimidating them, is it allowed? Has no one ever spontaneously kicked such a bastard in the face for unacceptable behavior?

Despite the above gripes, the series is mostly enjoyable and amusing entertainment. And Yoo In Na: how cute and attractive is that woman!
All the good stuff gives points, friends of the night!

I was looking for a good romance drama to watch...and this one did not disappoint. I watched all 16 episodes over 2 days! I love everything about this drama - the story, the characters, and the romance. It was so believable that I might spend the next few days visiting some historical sites hoping some time-traveling heroes will show up! ;)

What I liked:
- The characters. The main leads were phenomenal. I loved Hee Jin - she is sooooo adorable and convincing. You can't help but root for her because she's so sincere and loving. Boong Do is awesome too! He's romantic and smart (always a good combination!). I like that he's a fast learner - adapting to modern time and scheming like a politician takes some serious brainpower! The other characters like Soo Kyung and Dong Min were well done - they were consistent in their reactions as the story progresses.

- The romance. This is so epic! I didn't think time-travel romance could be done well (it's like a long distance relationship but so much more...). But the story really made it work. I think the main leads had some great chemistry. ;)

- The story. I love sci-fi, so I was hooked with the time traveling aspect of the story. This story has responsible time traveling. I've seen too many shows and read too many books where the time traveling seems to have little to no effect on the future. But this story deals very carefully with cause-and-effect. The explanations given in the story are well done.

What I didn't like:
- The ending was a little too short for me. Probably because I love the story too much and didn't want it to end at all! :D

Totally recommend this to anyone who likes romance and a little bit of history/fantasy. Keep some tissues handy though - I was shamelessly crying through some scenes. :)

Queen In Hyun's man finds himself transferred into the future by a magical spell. In the future he meets a young up and coming actress who actually plays Queen In Hyun in a historic drama. To be honest, I was looking for the actual historical drama about the story of In Hyun, but I stumbled upon this one and I thought, well, why not. And the first few episodes were okay, however, the rest of the episodes, with the exception of the two final ones, weren't that good. The story stack in repeating the same story over and over. Plus the romance wasn't strong enough to keep the relationship alive. The girl was cute and all happy and crazily willing to believe that her boyfriend was from an other era. And even more crazy was the fact that her boyfriend, a man from 300 years ago, he was all okay with the modern world and was not at all scared or prejudice about technology or the difference in the human relationships. But I have to admit, the "past" part was more entertaining than the future one. And that kept the drama interesting for a while. So, all in all, 3.5 out of 10.

Gosh, I love this very very much. Very.
I love time traveling dramas. It's rly not real but it could be one day or it's already possible but we jst don't know about it. I have wondered if there was someone who time travels to modern world n we would fall in love. That would be so sweet n bubbly cute like a dreamy dream.

Yea he story is not believable but so watchable n enjoyable. This historical guy comes n we magically meet cuz we r destined to fall in love. He gets hurt all the time n he vanish in thin air n appears out of no where. I try to hide the fact that I love him but he is irresistible. When he's gone, I miss him so much!! Is it possible for him to stay forever to be w me?

Cute n bubbly acting!! Too much chemistry probably cuz they truly loved each other before. They r real lovers once upon a time. Can't get enough of this adorable drama that is so colorful!!

I've seen the Chinese version as well n I can say they're both rly cute but this one can not be replaced.
