This drama is pretty good as a medical drama. All the medical dramas I've watched, I would say this drama is the most realistic one out of all of them, When I usually stumble upon a medical drama, there is only 1 table death or no deaths at all. Doctors there are magically powerful and can save everyone. Realistically that is not the case. This drama however, displays how doctor can't magically save everyone but they try their best through their trial and error. This drama also gives me the excitement of people trying to be saved. I do not suggest people watching this if you are looking for people to get together, kissing,or any lovey doves stuff. This is only for the sake of medical dramas. If you are starting to watch medical dramas. I suggest to watch to watch this drama first because it's the least gory out of all of them. I gave this drama a low rematch rating because i don't usually rewatch dramas unless it's really funny to rematch again.

So I was super excited when Golden Time was announced because Im a fan of both leads, the people behind Pasta (director, music producer etc) were involved and they made it sound like it was going to be a different kind of medical drama…

Story: The first 2 episodes were amazingly exciting. I thought wow if this how the rest of the episodes are going to be im in for one awesome medical drama. Then as episode by episode passed, my interest in the show dwindled. By episode 15 I had had enough and my love for the actors was not enough to make me keep wasting any more hours on watching a boring drama. Really all your getting is medical case after medical case. I understand this is a medical drama but the writers could have done a better job with balancing personal story arcs of the main characters to make it more engaging. For example, the writers pimped this out as a medical romance. Even up to episode 15 there was zero romance, which I was really looking forward to. Really unless your completely obsessed with the medical field, you will find this drama completely boring. So don’t waste your time especially since the ending is nothing to brag about.

Acting/Cast: Lee Sun Gyun showed a different side that I haven’t seen before. He stepped up his game and I just find it so odd how he can play someone way younger than his actual age. He’s almost 40! Hwang Jung Eum was kind of the same as always but I like her acting style even though a lot of her characters feel the same. Lee Sung Min (King 2 Hearts) plays a major role in this one so I thought it was cool that he plays a very serious and brilliant surgeon because his character in Pasta was the total opposite. He is a wonderful actor! As for the supporting cast, noone really made their character stand out to me but you do see some famailiar faces (from Pasta).

Music: The indie band Every Single Day produced the OST (same as Pasta) so while it was good for the drama, its not something I wanted to listen outside of the show, which was a bit disappointing because I love the Pasta OST so much.

Rewatch: Couldn’t even finish it the first time so yeah that’s out of the question.

Overall Golden Time failed to keep me engaged so I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have the patience.

This is one of the best medical dramas I've seen, very realistic and all about learning and growing. The genre says "romance" but there isn't any, there may be people you ship and "imagine" they get together lol, but this drama doesn't go that far. It's like another commenter said "it seems more like a "prelude" to another part." - and I agree, it seems that way I believe b/c this drama is centered around interns who are learning and growing under a traumatology chief doctor. They are in the beginning stages of their career. It's not a drama based on solidified doctors, but on the ones training to be doctors. You will see the mistakes and learning steps of all the interns and their growth under a great doctor.

Cast: Lee Sun Kyun as Lee Min Woo, a man who decides to be a real doctor when he encounters a traumatic experience where he wasn't skilled in. He goes under the guidance of Choi In Hyuk who shows him the path of a true and caring doctor. He's very empathetic and caring - he has a big heart and is also a bit foolish, charming and thinks with his emotions.
Hwang Jung Eum as Kang Jae In, she is the hospital chairman's granddaughter, but she keeps this a secret from everyone so she doesn't get treated special. She likes to be like everyone else and also takes great care in learning about the "why's" of surgery and the complications that can happen and why such procedures are required. She is smart and wise and thinks rationally.
Lee Sung Min as Choi In Hyuk, he is a traumatology doctor who specializes in emergency procedures, he is also the outcast professor/doctor of this particular hospital. B/c he takes on risky operations and does costly operations, he's grown the dislike of his fellow colleagues. I found him to be very wise and knowledgeable with a very warm and caring heart. (If I was training to be a doctor, I'd want to be under his guidance).
There are 2 other interns who I enjoyed watching, one always brought the "big news" Ji Il Joo and the other was a more collected intern Kim Sa Kwon - they added a bit of humor to the show.

The OST was all very nice (I included the songs in the comments section).

I personally would re-watch this drama again when time allows.
I'd recommend it to medical drama lovers.

Golden Time got really high ratings at the time of airing but the reviews aren't anything too special and I sort of see why with the last five episodes. As the ratings were high, the studio added three additional episodes but the story, as a result, gets dragged out and a bit tedious to watch by the end. However the rest of the show is a brilliant commentary on the country’s policy regarding Trauma Centres within hospitals and I'm certainly appealed by it myself after watching Golden Time. One of our main characters, Choi In-hyuk, is based on a famous trauma doctor in South Korea so there is some weighted truth in the show. As for our fictional characters, they were a delight to watch. We say a careful Lee Min-woo transform into a carrying surgeon of the future and a thoughtful, but naive Kang Jan-in grow into a smart acting chairwoman. Their relationship is rather sweet because they are simply friends throughout the series. Close, bonding friends without any silly strings attached that can often plauge stories such as these. That was a breath of fresh air. Another breath of fresh air was the antagonists. There were none. The department chiefs aren't antagonists, they are people looking out for the best interests of their departments. Another rooted reality touch that helped the drama.

it took me 2 months to finish this. I dropped this a few times but forced myself to finish it because my OCD in me tells me too.

It did satisfy me being done with it, but i did not enjoyed it. I find the drama really dragging. I feel that this will work better as a 16-episode.

Lee Sun Gyun (male lead) acting is on point. for me he is the one carrying the entire show. I find the lead actress acting really weak.

I was waiting for a major character development but did not happen. i don't think those interns improved at all in their skills.

The only thing i enjoyed in this drama is the sound track.
