1)The reason I watched this:

Simply because it's a musical film since I like musicals and rock was my favorite music genre at some point therefore I watched this film.

2) Storyline/Plot:

I haven't seen the anime so I didn't know the story beforehand.
Generally, it was pretty good and most of all interesting.

Positive points:

*Rock bands and guitar love; those facts were appealing enough.
*The relationships in the film were captivating since they enrolled too many great feelings.
*Compititions and races to prove oneself ability and passion for music (rock music to be more specific) was a great theme to follow.
*The story's development was smooth: not too fastforward and not too slow.
*Considering the fact that this was a musical film, the music rocked, even those who don't like rock would enjoy it while people who are into rock would love the guitar playing.

Negative points:

*There weren't a lot of concentration on the love story, it was verylight (I like light love stories but this one was ridiculously light).
*Other than that, everything was set up in an acceptable way.

Story: 8/10

3) Acting/Cast:

*Mizushima Hiro: I liked his character and the way he played guitar plus the acting was really convincing.
*Satoh Takeru: I'm not too familiar with this actor but I believe that he did a pretty good job especially when it comes to passion for music.
*The cast was nicely chosen and the acting was good.
*I loved the relationships between the cast specially Beck band's members; it was cool to watch them play, fight, laugh and everything else they've done because every scnene they had together was a simple masterpiece.

Cast: 8.5/10
Acting: 9.5/10

4) The ending:

I was really waiting for the ending because there was a specific scene that I wanted to know but unfortunatly they kept me in the dark about something I really wanted to hear at the end of the film but that doesn't mean it was a bad ending; it was a cool normal musical film's ending.

The ending: 7/10

5)My impression (How did it affect me):

*It made my night and it was fun to watch.
*Since it's a rock musical film, I knew that I would like it and that's exatly what happened.
*Even though it was a little long, I don't believe I got bored at the middle or so, it was smooth to watch.
*I enjoyed the music since it gave me back some old rock memories that I thought I lost.

My impression: 8.5/10.

6) Overall:

*If you like musicals then you really need to watch this (especially if you're Rock music lover).
*If you're looking for romance then don't expect much from this.
*If You're not J-rock or any type of Rock lover then you wouldn't appreciate this.

Overall: 8.5/10.

I watched this b/c my sister suggested it. If I had found it 1st I would have told her to watch it. This was such a touching story of how music can connect ppl. I rly wish they would have actually gave us a voice to listen to that came from Koyuki. The fact that every1 was stunned by his voice made me want to hear it, but that does not take away from the story. I rly enjoyed the blend of music & that they didn't just spotlight 1 genre. I will 4-sure watch this movie again, but it not only left me w/ good feelings but I love the actors. I loved that Hiro is all about the fluent English. I wonder if they all rly can play their instruments. Despite that pondering of mine, I was excited to watch something that focused on music that the ppl actually played. I love bands that show their talent. It makes u feel special just being around them.

As a fan of the manga I think this live action is perfect, really! they captured amazingly the essence of the manga, I have seen that people didn't like that when koyuki was singing and his voice was muted but that's one of the things I loved, his voice while singing was something you couldn't just imagined, what they did was great, when I saw the anime I got disappointed when I heard koyuki singing because it wasn't by far the voice I imagined.
I highly recommend this live action if you have readed the manga, it really worth it, the cast is great also the music! I have to point some details such as hiro's accent and that beck (the dog) isn't like in the manga/anime but you let it pass, actually his english wasn't that bad, I loved the supporting cast, chiba is exactly the same as the manga, maho is great also taira and saku.
People that didn't like this have not read the manga or even seen te anime, this is one of the best live action I have ever seen, seriously! Is rare that I like a live action or dorama based in a manga but this one is an exception, an excelent work.

I really liked the plot of this movie as it somewhat represented what a real band would go through such as disagreements within the group and rival bands etc. The movie was really well executed with the range of different actors from different cultural backgrounds. Also there were lost of different elements in this movie such as romance, music, drama, action(?).

Everyone portrayed their characters really well, especially Hiro, omg the amount of swearing he did O_O I don’t think I have ever seen that before xD Also Hiro’s English was just perfect *_* I knew he was fluent in English but to hear his NEAR PERFECT accent was just wow. I didn’t expect that, he just blew my mind away.
Takeru looked like such a kid, it didn’t look like it was filmed in 2010 but way earlier, like 2007 or 2008 or something, he looked really young. I think it may be because of that hairstyle, it was a proper boys hairstyle xD Not that he doesn’t look like a boy with all his other hairstyles, you know what I mean right… Right? D:
Oh and let’s not forget about Osamu *_* omg his character, I don’t know if I should love it or just think he’s an idiot xD the amount of times he took of his short for a live event was just uncountable. Seriously he was shirtless for practically 1/2 the time in this movie. (not that I mind it xD )

As this movie was about a band, more specifically J-Rock, there were lots of songs/music. However, one thing I did not like was the fact that, when Takeru’s character had to sing they just blanked it out >.< I really didn’t like that. If they had to make him sing why not make him lip sync with someone else’s voice >.> though I was really looking forward to hearing Takeru sing, I was imagining how it would be like but sadly they ruined my imagination and never gave me what I wanted >.<

Rewatch value – 7/10. It’s a good movie about friendship and how to overcome certain difficulties and all the events bands go through, such as disagreements and teamwork etc. However, the reason why the rewatch score is a bit low is because I have a feeling I wouldn’t be able to handle all the eye candy in this movie xD seriously it is a pure pleasure to the eyes –coughs- Osamu shirtless –coughs- wait what? I said nothing :p But in all seriousness, I do like it, I might rewatch it when I have nothing else to do or watch and I just want to see all my favourite actors together xD

Overall Score – 8/10 because the cast was awesome the plot was great. I loved everything about it xD (though it could have done without the swearing) and no singing >.> But overall I liked it because they included a range of different cultures in this movie. So I thought it was a job well done! If you want a movie to watch just as a pass time I think this would be the right one to watch.

This movie is unbelievably touching. I found myself crying when Koyuki was singing even though I couldn’t hear his voice. I love the cinematography and the story. Some of the acting leaves a lot to be desired, but I didn’t care. I found myself gripped by how music can move you in ways you never thought possible. I enjoy all kinds of music and a song can take me to any place I want to go. This is expressed so beautifully. Look past the obvious story and toward the deeper story and I think you will love it.

I read manga first (one of my favorites) and I think its better. Maybe because the drama is longer. But Im really really glad they made a movie out of it. Even though I think they could have definetly done a better job.

Story follows manga as it should, that I like the most.

Actors could have been better I think. One actor didnt do its job like it should have.

Music was performed greatly. One of the reasons I like the movie. because from manga I obviously couldnt hear it. But I must say it sounded different in my head. Still good though.

Now that I have seen the movie Im satisfied but i will stick with the manga and reread it if I feel like it.

Overall Its a really good movie. Worth watching. Especially when you have watched the anime or read the manga.

I have never given 10 points to any drama or movie. This movie, for me, was absolutely outstanding! Acting was great. I'm a fan of Hiro Mizushima, so I was in heaven.

Music- I think I started be interested in jrock because of this movie. Very beautiful music. And I think It's good that we can't hear koyuki's voice while singing. As we imagine it should be something amazing but If we could hear it not everyone would be satisfied. So in my opinion it's great idea to remove his voice.

Plot is wonderful - unusual, unique, with deep message.
Why did I judge rewatch value on 9 ? - because I never watch one movie two times. But after this movie...who knows. ;)

Summarizing : FOR ME, this movie is PHENOMENAL. I ABSOLUTELLY RECOMMEND. If you want to know what am I talking about, just watch it yourself. ASAP.

thank you for reading my personal opinion ^_-

This one was only so-so. It really didn't click for me, not even Satoh Takeru as Koyuki could save it.

The thing is, except for Koyuki and his drummer friend, Saku, I kinda didn't like anyone in this movie much. Or not at all, really, especially the lead, Ryusuke. His arrogant behavior, his endless issues, the way he treated his band members and kept causing trouble without even apologizing, it honestly rankled. When a character gets punched and you cheer it's obvious that you and said character really didn't hit it off.

Also, I saw many people complain that Koyuki's singing voice was muted, that we never actually heard him sing, that we only ever saw people's reaction to hearing him sing but from what I understand, in the manga, his voice is mesmerizing, magical, angelic and whatnot and like the director said, no matter who would've sung the part, people would've been disappointed because the bar the manga set was so high. That's why I think it was wise to not even try to match the standard and just leave it to people's imagination.

But... yeah. Overall, I was disappointed. The movie was way too long (it's almost 2.5 hrs. long!), the writing was all over the place and the acting also left much to be desired.

You know that one movie you watch when you have a bad day and want to relax, Beck is that movie. You know that movie you watch when you don’t have anything to do, Beck is that movie. You know that movie you watch that make you feel nostalgic and you don’t even know why, Beck is that movie. You know that movie that no matter who, old, new, friends, family or a random person on the street, is your number one recommendation, Beck is that movie. If what I said above did not convince you to watch Beck I will give you a few more reasons.

Beck is not my favorite movie (Lord of the Rings), not even my favorite Asian movie (The Brain Man). But it is the movie that makes me feel the best when I watch it. It is almost a gild pleasure, but I don’t call it that because Beck is a Good movie and gild pleasure I reserve for the movies that are bad but I like it anyway. Beck is not that. It is a movie with a great plot, wonderful acting and an amazing sound track.

Simply saying, Beck can satisfy vast public. If you are an anime and manga fan, Beck is an adaptation of both and it is faithful to the source. If you are a drama fan you will find a lot of familiar faces there. And if you are just a fan of plain and old rock ‘n roll, Beck is one of the best band formation stories that I ever saw. It is worth watching, truly.

About the familiar faces, this movie has Sato Takeru. You don’t need me to tell you how talent this guy is, go whatch Rurouni Kenshin or Bitterblood or Bakuman or anything he ever did, the guy is good. And in Beck it is not different, his portrayal of Koyuki is very fitting, makes you relate to every happiness and worries. He is the perfect viewpoint that make you immerse in the story and empathize with everything.

And he is not the best performance in this movie, this is reserved to Mizushima Hiro there is no one in my mind that would have made a better job in being Ryusuke as much as Hiro-san and this is that word of someone who is a manga and anime Beck hardcore fan. He is in that THAT level of perfection. Well done Nanba-senpai!!! (for the fans of Hana Kimi \o/) And in a special place in my heart I have to congratulate Kiritani Kenta as Chiba, he will make you heart tremble, Chiba will end up being you favorite.

For this amazing quest is the reason I say I don’t want Beck 2. How it is a manga/anime the story is a lot vaster than what you see in this movie but, everybody is older now, too old to be those characters one more time. And if they changed the actors it would not be Beck.

But let’s talk about the sound track, it is awesome. It is a band movie you expect the sound to be amazing and it is. Evolution still to this day in my top favorites on my playlist and youtube most watched videos. It has been a fill years since I watched Beck for the first time. One thing that is important to mention and I don’t know if everyone will agree is that I loved the way they portrayed Koyuki voice, being that so called “perfect voice”.

And for the last it is very much worth rewatching. I did it several time and I still do. So go watch Beck, it is a wonderful feel-good, I can bet you will became a fan.

I've seen it cause a friend of mine suggestes it. I know it's old, but I'm searching somenthing that drives away from my head fears about my japanese exam. And that's what I think about it.

I've seen in a sunny afternoon, just for fun. But I'm not very satisfied.

The story is good but common. I've seen it in a lot of other drama or movies. Changes are very slow, so them make the story in part annoyng.
Some actors are really good. On the contrary, I found some of their performance mediocre.
I don't think it is orrible, but not one of my favourite.
It's a good movie if you want hang out, even if it's a little bit longer than other.

This is only my opinion, but I suggest you to make your own. :)

I love music themed dramas/movies so I was very interested in watching this. Not to mention Hiro was in the cast so it made me even more excited...

The story... was kind of disappointing. It felt long and I grew bored towards the end. I also disliked the fact we could not hear the singers voice.

The acting...was also disappointing. I did not like Hiro's character that much. I was surprised his English was so good, but yeah his surfer dude accent kind of ruined it. The supporing cast were alright nothing memorable.

I won't waste my time and watch this again...

I like how the actors are alike to the characters. Maho is very good with her english and seems kinda funny too. I prefer this was a drama than a movie but for Beck, he seems not like in the manga. What I really don't like is that why the face of public when they heard him singing but there was no sound??
