Great Pacing

The story's pacing was perfect for the number of episodes it had. It did not drag on too long or end abruptly and tie everything up at the last second. The lead's romance was cute although I did get tired of the "falling into his arms" trope. The second couple's story was cute too. I liked the friendships in this show (including co-worker relationships) and there was justice served so it was satisfying. Overall, I would watch it again. Loved the premise of not wanting to lie and what reasons make you lie.

breath of fresh air

this drama was very satisfying as unlike other dramas, there weren't many unnecessary misunderstandings and the main couple always got back tgt quickly (definitely thanks to the 'no lying' theme). the team also went all out with the skinship lol there were A LOT of sweet little kisses and hugs and just very sweet moments scattered throughout the whole show. FL's growth was commendable as well. Although, there were some very annoying characters which made some parts very difficult to watch but the main couple's sweetness makes up for it.

Thought provoking

I liked the premise of this drama.

A man who never lies...is that a good thing?

What is a lie?

Most people agree that saying something that isn't true is a lie. But...

...is not answering a question at all a lie?
...is not correct a faulty understanding a lie?
...is letting someone believe a lie when you know the truth but don't correct them out of compassion a lie?
...are all lies equal?
...are lies said to protect someone else okay?
...or is a lie a lie and you just should always answer every question with the truth?

Anyway, this drama poses those kinds of questions. The plot itself is quite cliché, but the philosophical probing was refreshing.

Also, the best thing about this drama is the ML's kid sister. SHE MAKES THIS DRAMA. WITHOUT HER, I PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE BOTHERED FINISHING IT.

Must watch. Period

I know many have wrote a review but I am still gonna go ahead and write one because I really encourage everyone to watch this drama.
This drama focuses alot on lies and how it can impact a person's life.
The male lead is charismatic and good looking, yet inside his extremely vulnerable and it makes the readers wanna baby him so much. The casts look so good together and though it is a light hearted drama, the chemistry and love between the leads made my heart fluttered so much.
The villain in this drama is annoying in a good way and it is just so satisfying to see how others stood up against her in the show.

This sounds weird but this show made me reflect and pounder whether white lies really helps someone.

Would you rather say a white lie so that everyone can be happy, knowing that the consequences is unbearable once the truth is told??

My ratings are a bit inconsistent for this drama. The good parts of this drama impressed me too much to the point of ignoring the weak sides of it. The male lead had me falling head over heels.

STORY:
Childhood tragedies, misunderstandings, "cold" CEO, mistreated heroine, annoying second leads - this drama has it all. What sets this drama apart are the lovely main couple and the awesome male lead. The cliches are not too overbearing but it could have done with less focus on these plots. Misunderstandings are there but the main couple sails through everything. I couldn't get too invested in the 2nd leads. The side couple was also cute and the heroine's family was simply horrible.

CHARACTERS:
The male is very awesome. He seems like a control freak in regards to his honesty and lack of understanding when it came to people lying. I wouldn't say the reason behind it all made sense to me. The heroine was cute and had slow growth which I like. With the support of the male lead she grows a backbone and learns to stand up for herself. Her friend and the friend's boyfriend were super cute. However I hated her family. They were cartoonishly wicked and I couldn't forgive anyone till the end. I did love the main female lead's loyalty and friendship with her best friend. A special mention to the male lead's sister - extremely cute and smart kid. She made me smile every single time she appeared on the screen and turned the mood around.

ROMANCE:
If there is a reason to watch this drama - it's the romance. The leads have very good chemistry and their skinship seemed very real and mature. The hero's devotion to the main girl won me over and the actor won me over too. They seemed like a real couple to me at times! The kisses and hugs were all very cute and warm. The secondary couple was also sweet although their development was a bit slow. I couldn't care enough for the chasing second leads and their actions in trying to force the couple apart were a bit pathetic at times.

OVERALL:
I would recommend this drama for a few characters. A lot of annoying plots and twists are also there but you can always skip those scenes/characters. Heroine's "revenge" on her evil family was satisfying to watch and her cousin remained pathetic till the end. Thankfully, the good parts outweighed the bad parts but it could have been shorter.

REWATCH VALUE:
YES. Yes to all those butterfly-inducing kisses between the leads. I will watch them again and also keep an eye for the main actor's future works.

Typical boss/employee romance but a good one!

I was hesitant watching this because the plot just sounded weird, however, I'm glad I watched it. Basically, it's about a rich CEO Zhi You, who never lies, and an ordinary girl who became his assistant Yi Ren, who always lies, and they fall in love. Typical employee/boss romance.

After watching this drama, I felt like it gave some sort of hidden message about why people lie. There are some people that lie due to selfish reasons or to get away with something. While there are some that lie because they don't want to hurt the one they love and believe "it is what's best."(basically good intentions). This drama gave me a realization that sometimes we have to look at things from a different perspective of why people lie. But of course, lying is still not acceptable.

Zhi You hated and never told a lie because one lie led to bad results for his best friend's family and broke their friendship during their childhood. Therefore, he hated anyone that ever told lies. However, Yi Ren came in who is the COMPLETE opposite of him who ALWAYS lies. Somehow, despite the millions of times she lied to him, he still did not let her go. With Yi Ren, I noticed that she doesn't lie out of selfish reasons. She lies because she is afraid the truth will hurt him.

HOWEVER, this is one thing that I do have to express frustration on. Yi Ren's character is quite week. She is not able to be honest with others because she cares of what others think and does not want to hurt them. I sorta understand in a way since she did grow up in a toxic childhood with her relatives that were just mentally abusive and could not speak up of how she felt. So she always felt inferior and insecure of everything and cannot speak up for her nor tell the truth on things. She lied so much throughout the drama and it just started getting really frustrating that I actually hated her character at times. She is lucky that Zhi You forgave her many times for it. However, he does get sickened by it after awhile and they broke up for a bit. But in the end, he realizes he can't live without her and knows lying is her weakness, but knows she's not doing it out of bad intentions so he seemed to openly accept that about her. She also tries her best to improve herself of not lying and stand up for herself. I'm glad she finally cut ties with her aunt and cousin who are just complete hypocritical gold-digging liars.

Anyway, this drama revolved a lot of lying and deception among different people. People try to lie/deceive others out of selfish reasons was really frustrating to watch. But hey, that's what the drama is overall about: lying. I felt like the last two episodes were just not really necessary and didn't make sense at all as to why they had to add that subplot. It was just weird they added last-minute a sudden plot twist of Yuwen turning evil and betraying Zhi You again right after he gave her another chance after framing Yi Ren. Also, I did not really watch the second couple subplot because I wasn't entirely interested in their romance so I skipped it HAHA.

As for the romance, it was really cute. It was sorta cheesy but surprisingly it was bearable for me. Yi Ren changed Zhi You in a way that made him less cold and realize things from a different perspective. They understand one another despite being polar opposites. They kiss like so much throughout this drama omfg XDD. You can tell how madly in love he is with her LOL. It just felt so real!

Overall, I really liked the drama. The message was nice and the couple just had great chemistry. I don't think I'd watch it again like the WHOLE thing but maybe rewatch some clips that I liked.

Good chemistry, draggy story

This is one of those dramas that loses a lot of tension/momentum once the main couple get together. But even before then, I had started skipping all the scenes with just the SML moping or plotting by himself. And the evil cousin/aunt moping/plotting. And the jealous work partner moping/plotting. I did think the secondary couple were kind of cute but nothing too exciting.

Why does there have to be that 2-3 episode arc that makes you question your judgement?

Initially I liked the ML, he was honest and an interesting character to watch. Every time he opened his mouth, it was like a accident waiting to happen. I was so fond of the character trait, that I overlooked some of the flaws that such characters bring.

When they fell in love, the ML didn't hold back and was very affectionate. The FL is also equally smitten with the ML and their interactions are just so adorable. So, what could go wrong? I have never been a fan of people who lie, in fact, I related better with the ML compared to the FL in the drama. So, even I was surprised that ML decided to dump the FL over a misunderstanding. He wouldn't hear her out, allowed her to be bullied in the office, turning a blind eye to it. The entire thing just soured my experience of this drama. But it also shed light on the ML's rigidity, which I ignored from the beginning.

As I was watching the drama, in the back of my mind, I kept having this thought. How are these two going to make it last? The ML couldn't really accept FL for who she was. She lied and had to promise him so many times that she would stop doing that. If people could change so easily, we would all be happy. The ML's love for FL was so conditional, he should have found someone else.

Even when he dumped her and let her be treated like that, the FL continued to hang around him, glutton for punishment. When they got together he gave her apology and that was that. They were back together.

...

I liked the story from the start that main lead Fang Zhiyou hates lies and also doesn't like the person who lie .After he met Xu Yiren, she lost her bf and work in one night .Then he started working at Fang Zhiyou company assigned by Ms.He. Then he slowly started accepting her lies and forgave her lies.It was little bit interesting and then comes Li Zhe Fang Zhiyou's school bestfriend who lost his mother and his father was under trauma due to Fang Zhiyou's Father.. The plot and story was quite interesting and i started loving it .But at the end i felt they were dragging the story.

Slow pacing and unrealistic Characters

For my taste this series pacing is slow.

Dropped twice once on EP 4 and second time on EP18.

Second couple are one of the saving grave

Their is nothing much of character development for any support roles.
Unrealistic characters. Could not able to connect with any main characters. We are supposed to hate SML but i could not. And do we have these kind of step family in this world, also even if they exist anyone would break their connection once they move out of their circle, that makes FL stupid and unrealistic.

Only watch if there is nothing better available

The story was based on an interesting premise of the relationship between a man who abhors lies and a woman who is constantly fibbing. But the FL 's dry as bones personality really did not go with along with the premise. The woman was supposed to show high social EQ and defuse situations by stretching the truth or downright lying, but honestly there was such a lack of charm and expressiveness in the actor that the irritable and zero EQ male lead appeared more scintillating. I think this is a case of miscasting. The entire logic of the FL being able to make good the situations spoilt by the ML's unbending rules didnt come through.
I was trying to imagine someone with natural charm like Bai Lu or Dilraba ; with such actors the premise would have worked well. With Liang Jie's earnest , colorless and timid personality, it comes unstuck.
Full marks to the actor playing the male lead's sister. She was absolutely glorious and here's wishing the FL had even an iota of that child actor's animation.
Xin Yun Lai performed the ML really well. He brought out the dourness, the quiet watchfulness very nicely . Its a shame that his act was not able to get support from Liang Jie.
Plot holes like the prolonged senseless revenge track ( really? the ML was a kid and how was he responsible for a man losing a legal case?) , the volte face by the Xi Yun from a great boss to a mean avenger detrated from the quality of the story. Repeated tropes like the FL falling into the ML's arms at least 6-7 times were cringe.. I think creators overuse these stupid tropes only when the chemistry between actors is missing. A big downside.
I am sorry I just couldnt drag myself to watch beyond episode 16. I rushed to MDL to read what others had read before finding that other people were similarly bored out of their wits midway too. Dropping at #!6
