ML-FL relationship is sweet AND authentic, investment banking plot draws you in, awesome OST!

This show made me start an account here so I can post a review! Started watching this because so many people said the chemistry between the MLs was great. To be honest, I almost gave up after the first 3 episodes, but I remembered reading a review that said to hang in there past the 3rd episode and I'm soooo glad I did.

I expected a sweet romantic drama - it is sweet but not the super fluffy type which is a nice change of pace. Their chemistry made the relationship feel authentic, like what you'd expect to see in real-life couples. What I did not expect was for the rest of the plot (the scheming that goes on in the investment banking world) to also draw me in! Somewhere in the middle of this show, I felt I was watching for this rather than the romances between the on-screen couples!

I LOVED the main couple, even though Luo Yunxi sometimes comes across as the typical controlling I-know-what's-best-for-you bfs seen in most C-dramas. For me, I found the 2nd couple a bit annoying for the first half of the show - the 2nd female lead was a tad too persistent, and the relationship was more of the same "geeky-guy-doesn't-understand-love" tropes. The couple did grow on me a bit in the 2nd half of the show.

I was surprised that the main plot seemed to wrap up with about 5-6 episodes left to the show. I was afraid the ending would feel dragged out, but after finishing the show, I'm glad they decided to take their time to wrap up the stories. Too many drama series have endings that feel rushed, leaving viewers feeling a bit cheated.

Ending this review by saying the OST is awesome! I'm still listening to it now even after having finished the show.

A Mish Mash of themes

The story was a mish mash of a lot of different themes: romance, drama, business. I was prepared to watch 36 episodes of cute fluffy romance but wasn’t so. Despite some parts which I felt that it could have done without, there were enjoyable moments throughout the series. I just really felt it took so long until they finally got together….and then you start getting your fluff, but because it was 36 episodes long, it became somewhat anti-climactic for me from the “after….” part. All in all good outweighs the wish-they-just-dropped-this scenes.

Yuan Shuai – he was the character I liked best in this show. Though I think he was too nice to Jiang Jun. I would have liked for him to have shown more anger especially when she was acting up. He just gave in too easily. Because I like Leo Luo I took it personal when somebody does something bad to him LOL. To be honest, he was mostly why I was able to get through the initial episodes. He was such a treat to the eyes every time he came on screen. His mannerisms, expressions, just the way her moves – LIKE! Oh and he has really nice hands too 

Jiang Jun – I know she loves Yuan Shuai but there were a lot of times when I thought she was selfish and took Yuan Shuai for granted. Also the supposed naïve side of her not knowing Du Lei liked her for all these years just was just too much. I also do not recall anywhere in the drama where she did something for Yuan Shuai that would have told me that “Yes, she loves Yuan Shuai as much as he loves her.” Everything was just about her.

Du Lei – I actually liked the Du Lei character. Yes, he was evil and nice – you have to watch the drama to know what I mean. I do think that we could have done without the Jiang Jun obsession towards the end of the series. It would have been nice if: that he liked her, he was already rejected around the middle part of the series and then he and Yuan Shuai had this frenemy kind of relationship. It was actually nice to see their relationship at that stage, their bantering were funny and cute.

Li Xiao Chuan and Xu Li – I can’t quite make anything with this couple. I wasn’t feeling anything, they were just there as the best friend and the cousin.

Qiao Na and Jia Yuan Ji – I was rooting more for this couple, cute that Jia Yuan Ji finally after two years…..

my FAVORITE couple ever!!!

The male and female leads are very talented actors. Their natural chemistry is what made this drama stand out. I'm not a huge fan of cliché stories, but the couple made me watch this drama. They're very cute and quirky which made the series so exciting. Some scenes made me cringe but laugh at the same time so I'm not going to complain. I would admit that the second half of the series was anticlimactic, especially after they got together (not really a spoiler because that's already given haha). The story focused more on external factors and less of the couple, but the main couple is why I stayed, so the lack of cute and romantic scenes in the other half made it less interesting. The supporting stories were also predictable, so those scenes weren't really worth watching.

The second couple is the worst drama couple, at least in my opinion. Unlike the main couple, the second couple made me cringe the entire, I mean the ENTIRE time. I couldn't stand them. They had no chemistry and most of their scenes made me cringe really bad; I couldn't even make myself finish those scenes.

The OSTs and soundtracks were pretty good; it helped set the mood and it made the overall experience great.

Generally, it's a good drama. Most of the time I don't watch cute office dramas because they're too cliché and they make me cringe so much but this one is an exception. Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi are such great actors and they were able to give justice to their roles. Would I recommend? If you want a cute couple with great chemistry who will make you laugh (and maybe fall in love), then yes, definitely watch this one.

Original plot

--I loved the ML acting and his character. He was the hook factor that kept me watching until the end.
--Original plot, real kisses, no clichés.
--This is the 6th C-drama in a row where I disliked the FL character, and also my high expectations weren’t met, joined by Lucky’s First Love / A Love So Beautiful / The Brightest Star in the Sky / Go Go Squid / Fox’s Summer. Curiously, right before them I really liked 6 in a row: Le Coup de Foudre / My Love Enlighten Me / The Romance of Tiger and Rose / Gank Your Heart / My Girlfriend is an Alien / Intense Love. So maybe my C-dramas runs in cycles of 6s...
--In my opinion, the villain’s actions in the last episodes seemed forced and unnecessary.
--The secondary couple love story was unremarkable and without chemistry.
--Most of the songs were in English and matched the scenes very well.
--All in all, it was good enough and I'd recommend it for Leo Luo and the original plot.

A LIGHTHEARTED LOVE STORY

I found myself addicted to this show and I try so hard to comprehend why.
I think I got it.
The story line is CLEAR and so easy to follow because of a GREAT script and the great chemistry of ALL FOUR MAIN CHARACTERS WITH EACH OTHER. Bail Lu and Shane Xiao were magnificent in Legends, and I think they NAILED their friendship on screen. I wonder why people never mention such chemistry. Luo Yunxi surprised me immensely with his acting. I had NO IDEA he was so capable and MULTIFACETED.
The story is original, fresh, with an undertone of real life rather than shakespearean tragedy.
Critics might point little details out, like an overall sense of anti-homosexuality, but I think is the price to pay to come out with such gems.
The real value of this show : US AUDIENCES CAN RELATE TO IT.

STOP AT EPISODE 30!

Honestly a great show if you're into Rom-Coms. Don't expect anything non cliche. I was concerned at first because I do believe that when dramas are over 24 episodes or sometimes even 24 episodes the show can get a little dragged. I did feel that way about this show too, well I wont use the term dragged rather I thought episodes 31-36 were unnecessary. I personally feel stopping at Ep30 would have been perfect and wouldn't have been an abrupt ending also.

Pros:
Great Chemistry between ML and FL
Great relationship between FL and her Best Friend
Loved how the ML and Love Interest (Du Lei) become a little close. (However, this doesn't last long)

Cons:
I did not like Li Xiao Chaun
EP 31-36
Spoiled Du Lei's character

Changes that could have been done was in the beginning is that Li Xiao Chaun didnt want to be in a relationship because of how things went with his first confession but he could help but fall for Xu Li, and Xu Li changes his perception about love. After the couple do get together I wish Li Xiao Chaun becomes more active in the relationship which help the audience fall in love with his character too. As for Du Lei Stopping the show at ep 30 would make it seem like he respects Jiang Jun's decision for being with Yuan Shaui Therefore, giving the person "he loves what she wants rather than what he thinks she needs" something his adoptive sister realises before going to prison. This way the audience would continue to like Du Lei at the sometime the character's brotherhood with the ML would grow, making a stronger character background and character development.

Wow Wow Wow

This drama is MUST watch for all drama fans. From the story you might think its a cheesy office story but watch is for the actors and the script. They make it so entertaining that I enjoyed it the second time all same.
It comes across as typical Office Romance but its greatest plus is the superb chemistry of Leads. Bai lu and Leo luxi are mazing actors in their other works and together they shine. Its a delight to watch them on same screen. Supporting characters are quite good as well and required for the story. Overall, watch it for the lead couple, you will miss them after the ending.

"Love is made up of one half sweetness and one half pain"

One thing that irks me is that the English title only translates half of the original Chinese title, leaving out the part about pain. (toughies)

The essence of the drama is about love comes with both hurt and fluff, and I think the actors did great in portraying such complex emotions. A sheep and a wolf, a bully and a protector - The whole journey was about coming to terms with how people may express their love to each other differently. Bailu and Leo played their roles splendidly and I especially loved Bailu's rendition of Jiang Jun.

However, I do feel like the plot could have expanded more on Jiang Jun's tear allergy, especially since nothing was mentioned about it near the finale.

Don't Miss This one!

Watch it! You won't regret it. I watched it on IQ.com.
I just finished it. I really liked it.
I had not seen Leo Luo before and I thought he made the drama! His expressions, his eyes, his emotions, his feelings sprung out into the screen. Many times, I felt I was there. In the series, he never gave up on the FL, consistent to the end. Their love from childhood to adulthood was adorable, at least most of the time. Is it a rewatch? Yes.
The couple were close childhood friends until something happened and they were separated. The FL wanted to work for this company which she felt had mistreated her father. The ML discouraged her to work for the company and finally she did and that is when the most exciting part of the drama begins.
The SL, Reily, was adorable as usual. the SF, could have been toned down. She was over the top in trying to land SL and got to be really annoying.
Were there evil ones in the series? Yes, a very fine actor, Kido Gao did his role in an unbelievable way, never giving up his psycho behavior.
The end is a bit soapy - that could have been cut out.

FL misunderstanding with ML

The cast is good, but the story plot is too ordinary. I'm watching because the cast & acting. The acting is good.

The ML is sweet & very intelligence but sometime seems stupid to make our FL misunderstanding him so many times. The ML character is different from his previous drama in Ashes of Love & Princess Silver which look calm & pathetic.

In this drama the FL is so cute, can not forget her in her previous drama The Legends as Zhao Yao that look like evil character and has strong aura. Hope both of them play more different character.

As for story, the plot is ordinary about secret love towards childhood friend . Something new is FL disease, tear allergy. In the past there's so many drama with amnesia, then germphobia or OCD. Maybe tear allergy will lead to a new disease trends in drama.
