WEBTOON VS WEBDRAMA

Just completed this WebDrama so dropping some of my thoughts here. FYI, this story is based on a popular Webtoon by MorangJi - Odd Girl Out. I really love the Webtoon and have been reading it for 3 years already. So I do have some high expectations about this adaptation. For me - if you read the Webtoon beforehand and expecting it to be as good as the original - please don't because WebDrama adaptation will get some adjustments to fit in the short period of the broadcasting. WebDrama is a simple version hence there are many important plots didn't get featured so please be considerate :)

This webdrama is super cute. That's a bonus point for me. Regarding the actress , I shall say that I do have some problems to imagine Nari as a an ugly duckling because in my eyes - SHE'S THE PRETTIEST AMONG THEM. If you read the original Webtoon you'll understand why Nari looks so plain among her friends. So when there was a scene when Nari's boyfriend (sorry I forgot to his name 🙏) said this line : "ARE YOU KIDDING ME ??? HOW ON EARTH 2 UGLY PEOPLE LIKE US CAN BE TOGETHER ? "

And I was like.....whoa you guys are ugly ? Wait until you see me :p

And the part when Nari was treated as a laughing stock in her class because they said Nari is ugly - like gosh I can't imagine her as ugly cause she's the prettiest in her class (well hello ! We're talking about Arin from Oh My Girl. If you say that she's ugly - I don't know what am I 🤣
:p"

But yeah I do understand that it's a part of the storyline. In fact , Nari in the original Webtoon is actually quite decent but because her 3 others friends are way prettier than her making she looks like she's the "ugly duckling" in her group.

About their acting - because all of them are still quite new in acting so it's understandable but my personal favorite would be Yoona and Nari because there were many scenes where they needed to be sad , mad and happy. The part when Yoona sing for Nari - SPLENDID ! :p

But the ending - I wish it could be more impactful and could focuses on the four of them instead of Soobin's crisis and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ THE ORIGINAL WEBTOON cause the original story is SPLENDID !!!!! More laughing , crying and emotional moments.

Thank you for reading this and sorry if I wrote something that may sounds offensive :)

Cute drama. I enjoyed how it was centered on friendship over romances.

I have to be honest the acting was probably some of the worst I've ever seen in a kdrama.
You can tell the majority of them are complete rookies and crying scenes especially were hard to watch.

But the the plot is fairly lighthearted so the poor cast doesn't take too much away from it, just the occasional cringe scenes or awkward dialogues. The actresses playing Nari and Yuna show potential so I hope they're able to grow in future works, Mi Rae was passable, Sun Ji was very grating and hard to watch at times, Woo Kyung fell flat and forced at times, Jinhyuk was the only person I'd consider a good actor. and lastly Soobin was surprisingly well developed for a side character.

If you can overlook the inexperienced cast then I would recommend this drama. It's refreshing to see a story about female friendship in a high-school setting. The drama is fun and very binge-able. 12 short episodes left a lot of characters underdeveloped so I'd be interested in watching a season 2.

If you guys love to watch web dramas, this a must-watch, there are idols playing as the cast and the drama itself is based on a webtoon. Everything is good.
The storyline itself does not make the watcher bored cause each episode has its own story which is good so that the watcher does not get bored easily.
Even if the acting is still just okay, but they can improve, :)

Overall, it's a Teenage drama about friendship also based on a web drama. I really like this web drama. It made me cry and also laugh, I really recommend this drama if you love, a drama about friendship.

" The world of my seventeen " was, unexpectedly, really good. Hope there will be a second season though.

The drama has some romance, but it focuses on the girls' friendship and their problems. There is bullying, being insecure about yourself, family problems and some love affairs too. The overall mood is youthful and nostalgic, with a nice presentation of the school friendships and relationships. Plus, all girls did a great job with their characters and their performances were really good from everyone in the cast. However, I do have to point out that the ending needed an episode more to wrap things a bit better, but, overall, the whole drama was satisfying and a roller coaster of emotions, with some unexpected twists too.

So, eight out of ten for this web drama.

The World of My 17 is the adaptation of a popular webtoon, set around the lives of a group of friends and their adventures: their crushes and romantic relationships, as well as the ups and downs in their friendships.

The drama fell victim of the usual high school kdrama troops: there's a cold-hearted yet beautiful girl that attracts everyone to her, there's a bully with a tragic backstory, there's a very bubbly main lead that believes the world is made of rainbows, there's the adorable airhead and there's the outspoken wannabe idol girl. This aspect really limits
any authenticity given that many times the writers will always have to break the same old boxes they put their own characters in.

Nonetheless, it had the gift of a very fluid story with no halts whatsoever and a good pacing - with just a little bit of an awkward acting here and there (i'm staring at you HyunBin). And it wasn't badly produced, just plain and simple, with some good lovely life lessons. It was nice that we got the point of view of various characters and generally speaking, the main cast is adorable. The very ending scene was my favourite.

I could have sworn I had a review up for this, but it's nowhere to be found, so I guess I'll write it again, lol. Just a heads up, I watched this before ever reading the webtoon it's based on, but as of writing this review, I am currently almost finished with season 1, so I probably will end up referencing it here.

This is, like so many web dramas of it's genre, kind of surface level and cliche and truthfully too big of a story for it's run time, but it's also very cute and fluffy and generally feel good and the acting is decent, so I enjoyed it well enough. (I would honestly love to see another season (especially now that I'm reading the webtoon).) My biggest complaint with the story would have to be how everything plays out with Nari's 'boyfriend.' That entire part of the plot is terribly handled, in my opinion, and doesn't make any sense without reading the webtoon for context. To spoil it (cause that's what I do in my reviews, lol) Nari starts going out with a boy at her school, and he's incredibly kind and supportive and thoughtful the entire time and appears to genuinely like her...until it's suddenly revealed that he's only been dating Nari to get to her classmate/friend Yuna, because he's been stalking Yuna for ages and can't take no for an answer. It comes completely out of left field and is so unbelievable that it's laughable. The plot point does come directly from the webtoon, but it also makes Sense in the webtoon. There's proper pacing and foreshadowing, and he isn't this completely perfect in every way boyfriend, so even though the reveal is shocking, you still believe it. The drama writers didn't get this part of the plot right, and I think it's probably the biggest flaw of the story.

My only other complaint with this web drama is the treatment of Yuna. There are a lot of complicated layers to Yuna and Nari's relationship. There's hurt and betrayal, some unhealthy attachment, and ultimately just too many layers for a short webdrama to properly explore. Unfortunately, this affects how Yuna is portrayed in the story. She is very manipulative and selfish and demanding in the webtoon And the webdrama, but the webtoon adds context to her behavior, and her part of the story is ultimately one of her working towards reconciling with Yuna and growing as a person so that their friendship can be healthier for both of them. Because of the time constraint inherent in webdramas, there was no way the drama writers were ever going to be able to do the same thing, and Yuna ends up suffering as a character for it, which is disappointing.

I admit it's probably a good thing I watched this Before starting the webtoon, because aside from the two complaints above, there were some other changes to the story that could have made this a frustrating watch, but I went in with fresh eyes and I'm glad I did. I'm able to view the webdrama and the webtoon as two separate entities and enjoy them both as such without the differences ruining my experience. If you're reading the webtoon and wondering about watching the webdrama, I recommend approaching the webdrama in the same way. It will definitely help you enjoy it more.

i like this drama !

i gotta say, this web drama was good. i remember when this was first released, i went to watch the 1st episode straight away. hehe.

the acting wasnt that great since it was full of rookies but i still liked the drama.
one of favourites is that this drama is more into friendship than romance which i absolutely love alot because its more focus on their friendship and getting them to get along and stuff, load of scenes were pretty funny of them all together.

Yu Na was my favourite character, there. she wasnt a weak character but a strong, fierce one. Yu Na always take care of Na Ri. thats what friendship is! taking care of each other.

Seon Ji and the rest of the characters were amazing.

i have only watch this web drama ONCE so i forgot the story but i know that i finish it.

i recommend to the people who loves web dramas. its suits for them.

overall, its was good.

( I heard the WEBTOON of The World of My 17 isnt finish yet, woo)

The World of My 17, huh?

Story
Let's start. This is a web drama I read some eps even before his drama so I kind of knew the characters which was nice but if you don't like that then I wouldn't recommend reading the webtoon before watching this drama. Now this was pretty well written some parts were really lacking like the acting would be on point but the scene would just be weirdly written or the acting would be the worst and the scene would be really well written. (pssssttt there is a little romance but expect more friendship it's still really good tho).

Acting/Cast
Arin bro what I've been a fan of oh my girl for a while and I knew Binnie was an actress but Arin(Nari). She did well. I liked the chemistry between the actors it wasn't anything special. Everyone played their parts well but that was kinda it.
like I mentioned before some parts were really lacking like the acting would be on point but the scene would just be weirdly written or the acting would be the worst and the scene would be really well written. So it kinda connects.

Music
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7KHaUB7ogxFfsQPHzHYIOu (playlist link to the ost)
The music was nice I really liked friends but that's my personal preference they should've made oh my girl sing too tho or just Arin.

Rewatch Value
It's short around 3 hours long I didn't feel like I wasted my time. It was fun cried laughed everything.

Overall
It's a web drama one of the best I've seen yet so pls watch it you will not waste your time!

Lighthearted stories with touch of drama and comedy

So yeah, I want to write a review for this because it is a lit web high school drama.

As you know, the story revolves to the lives of high school students experiencing friendship, love and life with an emphasis to "real friendship" or "friends to life".

The plot is easy to follow since it was backed up by flashbacks and the actions of the characters are being justified. It may be right or wrong, we know that there are stories behind of all of that. I personally loved how everyone has a story to tell. And I can say that they are relatable for high school students. I also loved how are they are with each other in drastic times as it really shows the meaning of real friendship. Now I know really that you can find your friends for life in high school. LOL

The acting is great as if they are acting just themselves. The cast suited their roles and I love it. They are adorable and at the same time cool by acting their roles. ({{$t('But Yuna, I wont forget what you did there HAHAHA for the sake of friendship. APPLAUSE')}} Well I hope to see the cast in other dramas too coz they are awesome artists.

The music is also a good thing to know about this show as it blended in the scenes very well. Though, there's no music I think that catch me. But still the music makes the mood in the show great.

Overall, it a great show looking for lighthearted stories with some touch of drama and comedy. Please consider watching it and I am sure you won't regret it except for some douchebags here and there. HAHAHA. It is a happy ending don't worry just a high school life drama free from worries.

Finally, friendship is created naturally, just being ourselves. It is called appreciation. Friends appreciate you and of course we should also appreciate them. It is hard to find real friends so when you found one, don't let them go.

When watching web dramas I’ve noticed I tend to enjoy them a lot... but this one is very cute and funny ... I could just be super bias about it because I am a very loyal “oh my girl” fan #miracles , but the friendship value and how much these 4 girls are all completely different yet seem to make such a strong team is uplifting and interesting. I know it doesn’t follow the original Webtoon comic but I’ve always wanted a web drama to not be so tied down to following it’s originally form and to actually try to be different because different is good... I hope in the end I’m still very satisfied and intrigued with this web drama and it becomes one of my favorites ever

The world of my 17

Not many episodes, short ones. I really like characters, they were cute and so easy to like. A Rin was great as main lead.
It is school drama, light and cute type, easy to watch, perfect when you need something to relax.
This drama has second season, in my opinion first season is sooo much better.

Cute drama about friendship!

This drama would've worked as a sapphic love story too where the female lead doesn't reciprocate. Overall it was a cute drama around friendships in high school, nothing amazing about it but it was worth it to watch since it's so short plus all of the characters had their own charms. It has a lot of sponsors and ads for brands so it gets a bit annoying after awhile when it gets so obvious with the weird epilogues but if you can get past that I'd watch it's quite average of a kdrama but its fun and cute. You can tell Doah had a brand deal with Etude House because of how often she put it on in this drama if you didn't know before you'd know now from this drama. The main reason I think I liked this drama was Mirae, she definitely carried this entire drama, I’d watch 50 more times just for her scenes. Also you can't convince me this isn't sapphic in some way, female leads best friend looking at her like that and telling her not to date or even wanting her to have friends seems??? I thought Seonji was annoying but I realized in the end it was just the way her hair was that was bothering me. The kiss scene in episode 11 is a bit excessive if I have to critique anything else. To be completely honest I only watched this because it was season 1 to season 2 (season 2 looked interesting and had Yena so I wanted to watch) and I didn't want to miss any of the plot. I'm glad I didn't miss out, the plot is good enough, the type of thing you expect with web dramas, the acting was iffy though. Overall I'd recommend it, it's the type of drama I'll think about in months still.
