A short but quirky story

I enjoy this sweet and quriky drama. It's about perfect pretty girl who everyone stared at, but was naive to it all. She was in love with her boyfriend, but he was cheating on her with her best friend who took adventage of there relationship. While he makes up a stupid reason she see her BF with her BF who is flitting with him as she see her watching. As crying on bus this guy put his hat on her and as he get off he gives her his sunglasses.
Duri opens up her own restaurant and gives tarot card reading on a special dish only. She helps those in need, while she happy. Then one day she meet her upstairs neighbor and thru misunderstanding of each other life he realizes that she has his glasses and she was the girl he was looking for and he was the guy who she saved his hat and glasses. They fall in love then the old BF and BF show up on there wedding day to apologize for what the did. All went well. A really short but worth watching drama. A filler in between

I've never seen a more empty plot and ridiculous "love" story ;/ the story had nothing to do with a restaurant or trots, it was just a move to make this seem different while it went about the same cliche stories.

the whole drama was built on 7 years of misunderstandings and miscommunication that by the last ep everyone was crying "I'm sorry I didn't say it before" and it was over ;/
their 1st meeting he was walking around with a bag of underwear (becasue he's a ceo in an underwear company) and the fl thought "omg pervert" ;/
what I hated the worse was how dumb they made the fl be like "omg you have a twin that sounds just like you" because the ml wore suits at work and sweats at home ;/
and it got worse when the ml thought that dumb conclusion made the fl "pure" and he liked her more for it ;/
then they added the 2nd guy and his pathetic love line built on -you guessed it- misunderstandings. he didn't hear the girl and he went on a one man pity party until later he found out he was wrong ;/

A soft, easy watch

This isn't the sort of drama you go into expecting a whole lot in terms of plot, but for a light, quick watch that makes you smile most of the way through, this is just the thing! I started watching an episode of Ga Du Ri's Restaurant after episodes of another, heavier drama so I could get a bit of a break, and it was the perfect cleanser.

It was nice to watch a web series that was longer than 10 minutes but that didn't require a full hour of dragging plot, as so many light filler dramas do. The acting was fine (I hadn't read up on it before watching and was delighted to see Hyuk's cute smile) but they could have done a lot more with the music... please, more than one memorable song on the OST next time!

At only 20 minutes per episode, I can already see this being a comfort re-watch for me.

A Love Story that didn't work.

First, let me say that I don’t speak a word of Korean. For that reason, I rely on the acting (facial expressions and body language), the music, and the sub-titles when I watch a show that’s not in English. I’ve watched thousands of romantic based movies and TV shows because it’s a genre that fascinates me. Maybe I’m one of those eternal romantics. With that foundation, here is my review.
The storyline in this romantic comedy was interesting. With each of the 12 episodes being about 20 minutes, you can easily watch it in one day. Ga Doo Ri (Lee Joo Bin), a Tarot reading Susi Restaurant owner with a depressing background in love and work, lights up the screen. People flock to her restaurant for food and love advice, even though her own love life is a wreck. Cha Woo Bin (Hyuk), the CEO of an underwear company, shows two different personas that make the story enjoyable. The interaction between the two is the foundation of the story. The story moves fast, but it still gives you a sweet romantic feel if you can overlook the flaws.
The comedy, however, was weak and, to be truthful, unnecessary. The wacky assistant to the CEO is an overplayed idea and just not funny. They made Ga Doo Ri look weird with her midnight Karaoke. There are other ways of getting the sound idea across without undermining the strength of the main character. I also didn’t understand her going out and getting drunk with the strange assistant. They nearly destroyed her image with that interaction. They built her up as a self-aware female with tough lessons learned in her past, then tore it apart with that outing. The past connection between the main characters pulled it back together but left me wondering how I would react to her fling with the assistant.

Light rom-com to bring a smile to your face

This show is the distilled essence of a rom-com packaged in neat bite size instalments. It doesn't have a convoluted plot but a reasonably fleshed out story. It covered most rom-com tropes but the fast pace doesn't allow the tropes to linger and turn sour. Twelve 15-16 minutes episodes doesn't give you a lot of time to present a story and it is light weight fluff but it never pretended to be serious drama in the first place. The story moved along at pace and the editing is tight. Not much time is wasted. The OTP has awesome chemistry, both are lovely on screen. Their confession will bring you joy, their romantic scenes are swoon worthy. Support actors are good, they did their job to move the plot along. You don't need to wear rose coloured glasses but it is pointless to compare it to a masterpiece. Judge it for what it is. All in all, totally rewatchable and it will only take you a lazy afternoon to binge the whole show. Highly recommended!

Cute, fun little fluff

Cute little story that looks at the ways in which our past experiences affect our current choices in life. Romance and friendship and silliness. The actors do a good job. Some of the stories wrap up too easily and there's very little vindication for the wronged parties. The cheaters were painted in too kind of a light and got off too easily, but over all it was a fun easy watch. I would recommend it for anybody looking for a simple, short watch. About the length of a movie, you can knock the whole thing out in one sitting.

The perfect interlude drama that's far from perfect

To be honest, I am watching 2 on-air Monday dramas and 2 on-air weekend dramas and the wait in the middle of the week was getting to me. Since I am watching so many dramas (yes, that's a lot for me at once) I didn't want to invest in another drama that would have a deep story or serious content. I wanted a fast food drama. I wanted something I could binge quickly and not invest too much in a whole new set of characters. "Ga Doo Ri’s Sushi Restaurant" was exactly what I ordered. It's a cute n' quick drama filled with tropes and assorted silliness. Yes, there are a lot of flaws and not much substance, but it can fill a void if you're in a classic rom-com mood. I know 5 is a low rating, but I'm glad I watched.

Lee Joo Bin plays Ga Doo Ri, owner of a trendy small restaurant, and she reads tarot cards on the side. Her character is the cliché prettiest girl in every room character but she's clueless about how that makes others feel and is just her weird quirky self. As the main character, she should have been a lot more interesting but she does have a few cute moments that made me laugh. She's matched with Hyuk as Cha Woo Bin, her new next-door neighbor. I know many of his fans will just love watching him smile and switch up styles but don't expect a groundbreaking performance. Together, their chemistry is cute enough to make this drama entertaining but it's overwhelmingly awkward, and often cringy. The good thing about this drama being so short is that the cringy parts don't last too long and the story doesn't waste time moving forward. There is also a hilarious 3rd wheel, Jung Jae Oh as secretary Mo Tae Kyung. He's completely over the top but kept me laughing at his ridiculousness. If you don't like silliness you will probably quickly become annoyed by his character, but I was in the mood for silly.

Would I watch this again? Probably not. I can't think of a single moment that I would want to rewatch. The story is not one where I felt attached to the characters or connected with the plot. Not all fast food leftovers are good reheated.

So obviously I wouldn't recommend this drama, right? Wrong! If you enjoy romcoms and can adjust your expectations, this could be the perfect drama to quickly binge and move on. Misunderstandings, Betrayal, Fate, and Food Porn. You get a taste of each without anything being too heavy or needing sleepless nights to complete. If you want an original story, memorable characters, and hot chemistry, this is definitely NOT that drama. If you want to watch something mid-week so that the time for weekend dramas "comes sooner" then this drama is the perfect distraction... for RomComs fans who have tropes as guilty pleasures. If there are any more dramas like this one please recommend them to me. Are interlude dramas a genre? If not, it should be. They'd be the perfect fix for my on-air drama-watching-and-waiting woes. I know this one was.

The light story doesn't always good in drama

Well to be frank, i am not into korean dramas and i only binge watch for some Japan dramas..i watched this because i am hyuk fans so of course i want to know how the drama went. The plot is simple, reminds me of Gangnam Beauty. Both have similar problem which is being beauty doesn't mean your life works perfectly. Duri is perfect. But everyone betrayed her. I found it was cute when Woo Bin literally fallen in love with Duri since the first sight..and also it is hillarious when he works as underwear CEO..

it is light but the story is slight a mess so 7 point is okay for me..I enjoy another character besides Duri and Woo Bin..Give a shoot if you don't want to think much and night super light and fluffy drama..

I really enjoyed watching this drama, but...

I really enjoyed watching this drama, but there are some things I didn't like. Due to the fact that this is a short web drama with limited time, all misunderstandings were cleared up very quickly, which for me is a big advantage.

The actors did well. The scene where Woo Bin gave Doo Ri a hat and then glasses so she wouldn't feel uncomfortable crying in public was really cute. It was the video of this scene that convinced me to watch this drama and I think it will remain one of my favourite scenes overall.

I really wanted to watch some nice romance and this drama lived up to my expectations.

However, I really didn't like the last scene where everyone was suddenly apologizing. I feel like it was out of context and unnecessary.

Also, if the drama was longer and these misunderstandings dragged on, I would really hate it. So what saved it was that it was a typical web drama.

And there was no need to make FL look a little dumb for not recognizing Woo Bin when she first saw him in the suit.

Simple fun short romance series

Short romance didnt really have a plot basically the Female lead who is smart funny and all around lovable got her heart broken back in school she opens up a restaurant a feew yrs later and begins to help others with her fortune tarot card reading. There is one or two side characters who get an episode or two and best of all there are no annoying side characters. Our female lead also searches for the one who on the day she was heartbroken a mysterious man thats all folks gotta watch for the rest

Overall i enjoyed this short story

What a fun and unique show to watch! It was cliche in the fact that everything is in a full circle and also the friend thing but I liked the FL and the ML, I liked the chemistry they ended up having, I adored the secretary and honestly it was overall just a mindless show that you watch with no expectations. I was laughing so hard at some points and it was kind of amazing because it's been a while since I've had this; so worth a watch and the music is catchy too! It was so quick and just a nice story. I'm amazed at how fast I was going with it!

Suspend all expectations and appreciate it as short duration fluff and it is ok

7/10 is my rating. This is a 2020 South Korean romantic comedy series with 12, relatively short, 11 to 20 minute episodes. Also known under the title “Gaduri Restaurant”

First I provide a unique synopsis then review.

Synopsis

Ga Doo Ri (Lee Joo bin)’s life was on track when she was dating the man she thought she would wind up marrying. She was the college campus “Goddess” and was used to people assuming she was given things due to her beauty. As an adult she went to work as an assistant producer at an entertainment company where she was bullied by co workers who assumed she was able to bring in big names in the industry by using her looks rather than her talent. After a scandal created by those who were incredibly jealous, Doori abandons her successful endeavors in the entertainment industry to set out on her own. She opens a Sushi bar which becomes very popular for uniquely combining excellent food with a center for dating advice. Her business is under some apartments where she lives and also is neighbors with a very unusual and seemingly socially awkward neighbor, Cha Woo bin (Hyuk; Han Sang Hyuk). To disguise that he is a highly successful CEO of an undergarment company, Woobin dresses up in heavy framed glasses and track suits. Doori’s heart was completely shattered in the past when her long term boyfriend and best friend have become romantically involved and is not very trustful of men so she does not first see Woobin as a romantic possibility even though he steps in several times to pretend to be her boyfriend to keep her from getting bullied. Will two such different individuals find lasting love with each other?

Review

I would have liked this I think if it had been developed into a more standard length series. All of the elements for a good story were there but with such short episodes, none of the plot elements were able to progress at a pace that was believable. I would recommend this for those that are able to suspend their expectations of a well developed plot and characters with depth. If you are just looking for a quick piece of fluff to fit in while waiting for another series to become available, this might be it. I would not rewatch it, there just isn’t enough substance to merit rewatching for me.

Spoilers

Woobin wears a track suit and nerdy looking glasses and I surmised he was doing it to disguise his identity as a handsome young CEO that likely has some celebrity. But they never fully explain or clarify why he chooses to present himself in such an unbecoming manner.

From the descriptions, reviews and synopsis in various sites, Doori is supposed to be some super star dating and relationship consult but that doesn’t come through very strong in the short series. There is one main case where she helps the girl identify her boyfriend is cheating but it didn’t seem like her involvement in that was very outstanding. It wasn’t too hard to figure out the friend was the cheater just based on the way she was acting.

I think what makes this worth a watch despite all the comedic moments around Mo Tae Kyung (Woo Bin's secretary; Jung Jin hwan). His overly dramatic response to everything was hilarious. When he hung out with Doori he seemed like the type of fun to be around character that many people would enjoy hanging out with. I would have liked having more time with that character and that would have happened if the series were longer.

Everything felt rushed. What you were just mad at the guy and now you are madly in love with him? What you just agreed to date and now you are passionately kissing? You just encountered your bully who pushed you around for years and pushes you around in the first scenes but you suddenly are standing up?

In short this was a mini series that would have been much better had it been developed to a full length series. All of the aspects that fell short of the mark were due to how abbreviated it was and that made them unable to fully pursue plot lines and develop the characters.
