Novoland: Castle in the Sky series never fails to amaze me.

Novoland: Castle in the Sky series never fails to amaze me. Great movie. The cinematography is superb. The story somehow made me understand Feng Ren more. Also, Fang Ruche is not in any way related to this story. This is Feng Ren's back story which happened way before the timeline of Novoland Castle in the Sky 1 and 2.

And since the given plot summary is inaccurate and somehow confusing, here is a clearer version.
--- Feng Ren declares war on the Human Tribe. Seeing that the Human Tribe has no means of retaliating, Fang Qiwu (portrayed by Wang Yu Wen), the queen of Human tribe, tries to use a time machine device to return to the past so that she can possess the body of Nan Yinmeng, Feng Ren's beloved consort, and kill Feng Ren (portrayed by Chai Ge). However, when she wakes up in another timeline, she is told that Feng Ren is dead. However, Fang Qiwu refuses to believe this and merely think this is a rumor. The body that Fang Qiwu wakes up in turns out to be Hong Luan (portrayed by Chong Dan Ni), the top beauty of the Human Tribe. In ten days, she is to marry Feng Qi (Li Dai Kun), the crown prince of the Yu tribe (also brother of Feng Ren). As it is told in history that Feng Ren would play the Qin during the wedding ceremony, Fang Qiwu (as Hong Luan portrayed by Chong Dan Ni) plans to kill Feng Ren during her wedding day. During the ten days, she is protected by a man named Nan Feng. Fang Qiwu falls in love with Nan Feng as both share the same love for music. However, just a few days before the wedding ceremony, she finds out that Nan Feng's true identity is actually Feng Ren.

A Heartbreakingly BEAUTIFUL Tragedy

I LOVED this movie. It was so much better than I expected it to be, I don't know why I put off watching this for so long. Everything was PERFECT: the casting, the plot and its execution, the characters and music.

I LOVED all the twists in this movie, I watched the trailer before watching this, so some of the twists were expected. But, the story is so much sadder then it seems. Despite Feng Ren being the supposed villain in this movie, he had the most tragic and heartbreaking story and I got where he was coming from. His backstory as to how he became the villain he was at the present day reminds me of Anakin's story. All he wanted was the Song of Yin Meng, the song he wrote with the love of his life who died ten days after they met.

It was so heartbreaking to see Feng Ren lose the love of his life TWICE, he knew her for such a short time but he loved her so much. I cried both times. And the twists just kept on coming. Not only was the FL the love of his life, but he made up the existence of Yin Meng, his "wife", so that everyone else in the world believes that he was married when in fact he had never married anyone and instead spent most of his life mourning the woman who possessed Hong Luan's body for a short time, the FL.

The plot of this movie was so detailed. The execution was PERFECT, non of the events take place in chronological order: first, because it's timetravel and second, because the plot is first told from the FL's POV and then the ML's POV. I LOVED that we got to see the story from both sides and we got to see ALL the important events. Though it may not have been in chronilogical order, the entire plot made sense. Once you put all the pieces together, it just gets even more heartbreaking.

I loved how the plot also made sense through its timeline of events. All the events in this movie were caused by a timeloop, showing how "destined"/inevitable the tragic love story was.

Opposite from mei ruo xia i don't really like this movie. Yes what mei ruo xia wrote is true. This movie makes us more understand Feng Ren (FR).

But the feeling of Fang Qi Wu (FQW) toward FR itself for me quite confusing. Just suddenly FQW fell in love & the moment of truth when she realize who FR is she did not look shock enough. Maybe if this become drama series will be more elaborate and clear.

But overall what this movie want to achieve, which is for me to make us more understand FR, is successfully obtained.

Classic love story with unique storyline

This is a love at first sight kind of romance movie, but it is delivered very well so that it appears like a unique story.

I love Zhong Dan Ni as both Fang Qi Wu and Hong Luan. She has a classic and elegant beauty paired with killer acting skills, which made her a delight to watch. The ML was also a great actor, but at times his closeups made it obvious that he had way too much foundation on his face, which kinda ruined some of the scenes for me. Anyway, it's minor mistake that didn't take away from the love story.

My only complaint is the lack of development in the FL and ML relationship. Even though they were convincing as lovers, as a viewer, I kind of had to adjust to how quickly their relationship developed in order to enjoy the romance.

Although I appreciate this not being a long drawn out drama where the leads take 35 episodes in order to finally admit they like each other, it would have been nice if they had thrown in an extra 5-10 minutes of footage where they run through the hills together or something else along those cheesy lines, just to confirm that they are in fact head over heels for each other and not just trying to play the other side for a fool in order to get revenge. I had to be suspicious because the entire plot is rushed. Although, everything wraps up nicely, this movie really should have been a minimum of 90 minutes in order to do the story justice.

Otherwise, the rest of the drama is like poetry. It's so romantic, beautiful, poignant, magical and emotionally captivating.

I highly recommend. Enjoy!

Didn't fit as a movie

With this movie, viewers gets to understand Feng Ren better. The back and forth in time made this movie chaotic. If you are not sidetracked by the mediocre acting of the Wang Yu Wen, close attention is necessary and you should have watched the previous Noviland series to have a good grasp of the story.
I still have to find a series or movie with a role that will make me like Wang Yu Wen as an actress. I don't know what it is but her face is not jiving with the role. Her facial expression however minimal makes it look too much.
Zhong Dan Ni did really well in that character.
If this was turned into a series, maybe it would have come out better.
