Wholesome Zombie Binge Worthy

I wanted something spoky but not super scary and this was perfect ??
If you like the zombie ?‍♂️ Movie Warm Bodies you will most likely enjoy this show.

PROS:
◇ Surprisingly Wholesome
◇The lead actors acting
◇Female Lead
◇The light romance (more like a crush)
◇The ending
◇The zombie affects
◇The comedy was fun

CONS:
◇If you are familiar with the mystery genre the plot is a little predictable.
Not a necessarily a bad thing especially with a show like this.
◇The side characters (other detectives) ?️‍♂️ took me forever to like.
◇Some of the writing felt a little out of order.
◇Some editing choices example music louder during scene changes. Felt choppy.

Overall glad I watched it super fast binge show and a good time over all.

⚠️Content Warning:⚠️

Mostly Fun with a bit of Stupid

LIKES:
Normally I don't like Zombie shows or movies, but this one had a new take on the whole thing. In particular I loved the beginning episodes when ML realizes how slow he moves and other little quirks of his new condition. Some parts I laughed a lot. For the make-up FX on him it was really well done and when ML's eyes changed. ML's acting was really good, FL did okay. Great character development for ML. Production for the most part was well done, [except some times on the zoom-ins they should've used a video stabilizer and also not to zoom-in so close]. I did like the storyline and it kept me watching until the end, so I just powered through it all until the end.

DISLIKES Didn't like the music at all. The writer or maybe it was the Director's fault, but the FL was made to be dumb and would also take way too long to react.
[Spoiler Alert]
The CGI wild boar was so terrible.
The attempt for a love triangle between FL, ML (Zombie) and the Poiliceman, was dumb and their "love" wasn't resolved in the end only the cop got some closure there. ML and FL didn't have "that kind" of chemistry anyway. As crime partners yes, anything romantic no.
Episode 21/22 was stupid and just plain crap. The make-up FX of the vet were terrible, as if one of the mice painted his face. FL takes way too long to react to untie the boss and other two detectives. The rabbit turned zombie when it's eyes went red, would've attacked the vet because of the need to eat flesh, but it did nothing. The vet would've known not to inject the green liquid by stabbing the center of the fluid in the IV bag, because the puncture would cause the liquid to come out and the IV has a spot to inject fluids without making holes in the bag. Also the cop would've called for backup before entering the vet clinic, instead of rushing in. It was the se two episodes were the worst.

Overall I liked how the individual cases were all linked and helped us understand the ML Zombie and his growth. I enjoyed the humour, action and detective work. The ML carried the entire show, his acting was the best too. I would re-watch it and recommend it. A solid 6.5/10.

Zombie Detective (2020) - if you don't have anything to do and you want to have some fun, you can watch this drama.

I really did have fun watching this drama but one thing that I was disappointed is that it has the cliche vibe of a drama coming out of KBS. Since it was quite on the safe side I don't know how to fully accept the drama. I find the drama unbelievable and it's really doesn't make sense but since it is a comedy drama it turned out okay. While watching I have this feeling of asking myself if I would take the characters seriously or not.

I did finish the drama and of course I did know who was the killer, so good luck to those who would watch it.

Good enough

Korean Mini Series 'Zombie Detective' is a smooth blend of comedy and mystery. The drama uses the zombie situation of the main lead in the most hilarious way, from his tries to imitate being human to him advertizing the make-up product, to his relationship with the leading lady. Everything was well done, not overstepping the borders of ridiculous, and keeping a nice balance between comedy and action.

The mystery, in addition, was a nice touch that kept things going for a while. The small cases weren't plenty, but they were enough to get things more entertaining and give time to the main plot to slowly mature.

The performances, finally, were all great from everyone in the cast.

So, overall, 7 out of 10.

I was not expecting the plot to go as it did, and I don't really mean this in a good way.

I feel like this show was both unnecessarily long and yet not long enough. I wish it focused more on the zombie aspect of the ML, and him wanting to be human, rather than the detective aspect.

I loved every single character in this drama. The ML was a mood and kind of reminds me of a grumpy cat. The FL was the kind of crazy that I LOVE. There was no romance in this drama, though I was expecting it. I also shipped the FL more with her police friend rather than the ML.

My favourite storyline was the ML finding out who he was before he died, and this only took place within the span of 2 episodes.
I also liked how he had to learn how to talk, walk and move his limbs all over again after becoming a zombie. This took place within an episode.

But, this drama didn't really focus much on him being human again, or even how he became a zombie to begin with. They went over how he became a zombie, very BRIEFLY. And, like every other (specifically US) crime show, this drama mostly focused on the detective storyline.

I was very unsatisfied with the ending of this drama, because the drama didn't even acknowledge a storyline that I really wanted it to explore. A storyline of the ML actually pursuing the chance to be human again through siencetific means. That one brief scene at the end, and an open ending for both leads did not do it for me.

Will cause you to re-think zombies

9/10 is my rating. This is a 2020 South Korean fantasy television series that has 12, 60 minute episodes.

Kang Min-ho (Choi Jin-hyuk) wakes up in the area of a hazardous waste dump with no memory of what happened to him or how he got there. More startling is he discovers he is not fully dead or alive - he is a zombie. To determine how he came to be in his current condition he knows he has to be able to "blend in" with humans so he slowly and persistently trains himself to walk, talk and act like a human. To cover his monstrous looking skin, he uses CC monster cover cream to the extent he should buy stock in the company. After witnessing the murder of private detective Kim Moo-young, Min-ho adds another mystery to his list and assumes the detectives identity so he can solve the mystery of his past. Gong Sun-ji (Park Ju-hyun) runs into Min-ho by chance and, mistaking his intentions, winds up "injuring" him. To pay damages she insists on becoming his part-time assistant not realizing her new boss is a zombie. Her skills as a former investigative journalist make her a useful asset for Min-ho as the two team up to solve not only the crime surrounding his death but also other cases as they come in the door.

Spoiler alert** I really like the way they portrayed the zombie in this series. All of the other zombie genre I have seen, with only one other notable exception, the zombies were mindless brain seeking monsters. The fact that he remained aware that he was once human and worked to blend in with humans made it a very unique and interesting take on zombies. I never would have thought a zombie could be sexy but then again when you have someone like Choi Jin-Hyuk playing a zombie, it was a foregone conclusion. He was somewhat of a mopey zombie but not in a bad way. It made it funny that he could reflect on being a zombie and regret not being human. Some found the FL annoying but I really thought her persistence was the only thing that would have gotten her through to him. And she grew as a character because she learned that her quick judgements of people were not always correct and I noticed she did that less as the series went on. Although I really liked it, it seemed like after they solved the "santa" case there was a logical end. I really thought we might be on the last episode and had mistaken how many episodes there were. This made me think they likely made some pilots and that is where it would have ended if the show was not popular. They extended it nicely, I wouldn't say seamlessly but definitely nicely. The ending was a bit nebulous and it was clear they left it open for a second season. It was good because the relationship between the two leads hadn't built to the level of romance making sense - it would have seemed sudden. On the flip side it leads me to wonder if there is any chemistry there. I mean I can't yet really picture them together but that could be it is early it what could be their romantic relationship. I usually feel bad for second guy but in this one I didn't because it was clear his timing was way off. You can't wait that long to decide you like someone as more than friends or that friendship becomes set in stone often for one or the other. I also felt his relationship with the female police officer was just building and likely that would continue on in a future episode. Even though the ending was less than I would have liked the whole circumstances surrounding the zombie were compelling enough that I rate this high and recommend it. If there is a second season I would likely re-watch the first and that in and of itself is telling as I rarely re-watch any.

One word, CJH daebakkk!

This guy really can act. Initially, i don’t think he can manage this type of character but surprise, he nailed this.

With his cold stone face, he still can bring laugther from the way he talks, walks and stares. His character in this drama really change my perception of his as an actor. Really good job!

For the drama itself, it’s really interesting to follow CJH’s journey as the zombie character. The supporting also try they best, although not great. And because it is a journey, so not the type of drama that i want to watch again. But, season 2 is welcomed as long as they maintain the whole concept of the drama itself :)

A Zombie more human than a real human.

A masterpiece! It's a very good show! It's simple!
I can't forgot the funny scenes, I laughed so many times! There is a good chemistry with every characters. There are action scenes and plot twists, through several cases that are well structured throughout the episodes.
Initially the story goes a bit slow, like him LOL! But every situation helps him to evolve, and gets to the most important part...
However from the beginning he proves to be a zombie only with his body (Choi Jin Hyuk has a really good body!) and he's more human than a real human, he feels emotions and common sense.
Showing how in reality the world is populated by different monsters who are none other than human beings ...
There are also romantic/cute scenes but not too much so it's perfect for everyone!
I don't know if they are thinking about a 2nd season but it can be cool!
Thanks for reading me! ^_^

The kind of crack I didn't know I need

One of my all-time favorite zombie movie is Warm Bodies. And if you have watched that, you'll know that I'm not a fan of horror shows and I definitely won't watch this one if it didn't include a comedy tag.

I LOVED IT! It was definitely something unique and new for my Korean drama watch palate. The first two episodes instantly hooked me. I have never laughed out loud like this for so long already. Choi Jin-Hyuk nailed this role perfectly. It pains me how underrated this one is.

I love the comedy, the mystery and even if it scared me towards the end (cause I'm a scaredy-cat), I still stand by how much I enjoyed this series. The comedy although it gets too corny and slapstick sometimes still made me laughed so much. The mystery portion and detective works also excited me.

It's a really fun and enjoyable show and it ticked all the right marks for me so I gave it a high rating.

This drama is exactly what I needed for the moment: a light-hearted, funny, not really deep story with very relatable and likeable characters.
Don't have much else to say, other than that I looove how we get a random zombie with little to no explanation at all, I think that's what makes the story even funnier. I mean, don't get me wrong, I enjoy my plot-heavy dramas and I LOVE to know all the details [especially if we're talking about crime/fantasy/sci-fi genres], but sometimes it's best to watch a show that is just there for the purpose of entertainment and not to make you think a lot or leave you anxious.
Also, SunJi's family/friends were super funny to watch and so were MooYoung's neighbors. 12 episodes were fair enough, not too short but not too long.

If you think you're the type that would enjoy a story like this, then I recommend it.
8/10

A fun comedy that keeps you hooked with suspense...

I really enjoyed this series, I was unsure wether to watch it or not because I had other things on my list I had wanted to see for a while, but I am so glad I watched this sooner rather than later.

The thought the concept was very interesting and well though out, the comedy was spot on and the suspenseful, action filled parts keep the plot fresh and interesting and stops it getting monotonous. This is the first drama I have seen with Choi Jin Hyuk and Park Ju Hyun and I can now say with confidence I am a fan of both of them, they played their parts so well, I can imagine its not easy to play a zombie with an actual personality but Jin Hyuk took that obscure role and gave us a zombie that the audience can fall in love with. Our zombie is perfectly complemented with Ju Huns portrayal of the quirky headstrong Sun Ji, I found her to be really fun and relatable and I like how the characters brought out the best in each other, it was a really star combo so props to the writers and the actors who created these characters and brought them to life.

The plot was well rounded and there were no points where anything felt unfinished or underdeveloped, everything was concluded nicely but with an openness to the ending that could finish perfectly well as it is or lead on to a sequel which I really hope we get as there is definitely potential to take this series further.

So if your unsure wether to watch this, don't hesitate, give it a go and i'm sure you won't regret it... There's a fun little cameo from A.C.E too so Kpop fans look forward to that. ;)

ONE OF THE BEST UNDERRATED DRAMAS SO FAR!!

Just saw this drama randomly on the VIU app. and started watching it out of curiosity. Finishing the entire episode 1 got me hooked up to this. It has a unique plot. I could say, that there isn't any blunt or boring episode here. I was also stunned at how Choi Jin Hyuk portrayed his character here. I highly recommend this drama to those people who are into crimes, fantasy, and comedy. You can have all of these in just one drama! Go ahead and try it now and I'm sure that you'll enjoy it too. ^^
