Hilarious Shorter C-Drama

I just finished watching this on YouTube because Viki wasn't uploading the episodes fast enough. After 6 episodes I was rewatching them on Viki to curb the need for more.
I picked this at first because I wanted something funny and less than 40 episodes. This was so much better than I expected!
For once the ML wasn't just a distant solumn hot guy. He was absolutely hilarious and endearing, making every scene with him amazing. The FL was smart and mischevious. They really played off each other well right from the beginning. The main cast were all well developed and interesting characters without going too far and trying to create too much backstory. It also kept some mystery to the very last episode; they were great about not giving to much away and keeping you guessing. It's a light fun trip and I highly recommend it.
Please note, the drama summary is about 35% inaccurate so if that has you pausing, just try the first episode and see if you aren't hooked.

Full of adventure.. Good storyline

I truly enjoyed this drama and storyline It was full of excitement, chill, funny and sad till the end. The chemistry between the Yan qing(ML) and Ling long (FL) was like good cop- bad cop comedy they complemented each other. The rest of the cast Xuan yu & Tong ge were yan Qing 1st men of the wolf gang and You rou was in love with Yan qing and causing problems until she meets Xuan yu. Then there was Xiao jin Ling long maid/friend who started to like Tong ge and the one I loved was Dr MI ya he acted crazy then he was so funny.
It's about the ML trying to find out how his mother died 18yrs ago as she was the king of the wolf tribe. He then meets the FL who high strung and gives him many problem as she a prisoners of states for a? marriage alliance. She runs into the 4th brother who was a prisoners in her state when he was younger antjey grew up together and he was in love with her. So he and the 2nd brother were both after the same girl, but so was the 3rd who wanted the FL alter ego who was wild and crazy. The story goes on and they start to learn about an evil group and so they all investigate and when the FL alter ego comes out she the total opposite of Ling long she fights and kills if needed as she has a mission yo complete so the girls decide on a code name of crazy lady when FL needs help or answer of what she has done. Soon FL realizes that she must help the ML and soon feeling developed but she tries to keep them hidden. The ML figures out that the alter ego has the wolf tattoo on her, but disappear when Ling long comes out. They make there way back to her state chu trying to get answers why the ML mom died there. So meeting and getting to know the FL mom, he learns that Ling long has his mother wolf hesrt. Upon investigating they find out there is evil around them trying to kill them.
There is so much more to see. I hope you liked it as much as I did.

Definition of meh

This drama is ok. The first episodes are engaging and definitely the best, but the last third of this show is pretty mediocre. Don't get me wrong, this was no great piece of cinematography, but at least it was entertaining in the beginning. The last few episodes felt like a chore to finish, though.

The whole dynamics of the lead couple was fun at first, their bickering was enjoyable, but after the first half of the drama it started to become boring, speacially on Ling Long' part. Yan Qing did everything for her, albeit being annoying, but she never even tried to make ammends or forgive him, even though she forgave the girls who hated and humiliated her very fast. She never put any effort into their relationship and that bothered me. In fact, the romance is kinda forgotten along the way, wich leaves you with this contrived plot full of holes.

The plot's is not well thought out and the conflict could've easily been solved considering Ling Long's mom and Misa both knew everything that happened with the wolf heart and the Wolf King, but for some reason never said anything about it? I also expected some more explanation regarding the Wolf Tribe, but that never happened. At least, to Ling Long's benefit, she was a smart and resourceful fl throughout the whole drama, which is rare for female leads so there's that.

As for the acting, it's pretty weak and over-acted, specially on the male lead's part, and the CGI made me want to gouge my eyeballs out. There's some really slapstick comedy (often exaggerated), many cheesy scenes and the drama barely shows any seriousness in its tone, so if you don't like these things, definitely don't waste your time here. The story and pacing are good initially if you're looking for a light-hearted romcom and even if its quality decreases as the plot progresses, the reduced amount of episodes compared to other Chinese dramas still compensates for it a bit.

The premise for the drama sounded good but the plot itself was confusing and lacking. The ML seemed to work the hardest in carrying this drama with his humor/antics and relentless pursuit of the FL. The FL remained absolutely stoic and one note until the very end... I can’t even think of a scene where she smiles. She just looked more tired with every episode and more annoyed at the ML. The little romance the leads had fizzled out early on and when the FL finally acknowledged her feelings in the end, it was anti climatic and not believable (she acted like such a jerk towards him the entire time). It was hard to root for her or care about her when she treated the ML so poorly.

This drama was definitely more of an adventure story than a romance. I stuck it out till the end just hoping for some chemistry between the leads, but FL remained stony faced and emotionless.

This drama is one of those to watch when there’s nothing better out there. The story is about Ling Long, the cause of her split personality (the other identity who lives inside of her is a wolf), her connection with Yan Quing and the Wolf tribe. The synopsis is more interesting than the entire drama! This is one of those dramas in which the female lead remains distant from the steadfast protector male lead until the last episode, making the entire drama quite frustrating and there is not much chemistry among the leading couple. Ling Long was portrayed as smart and resourceful but not trusting of Yan Quing that, for some odd reason, was constantly given a playful aura that didn’t go well with his real persona. The drama had a comedic tone with some dramatic undertones, but the characters were over-acted to the point of getting irritating sometimes. There are many plot holes and, although the drama was about the Wolf Princess, Yan Quing did most of the work. Overall, it is not a romantic drama; Ling Long’s alter ego was much more interesting, fun, and engaging. The drama has some good action scenes and, although it is not a memorable drama, it is watchable.

One of the BEST Asian Dramas I've Seen

For context, I grew up on Korean dramas/movies; My diet consisted of all of the Korean romcoms you can imagine and rarely have I found anything like what I found with this show. This drama was and is a breath of fresh air. Its funny to the point of me having to pause because I was laughing too hard, the romance is sweet and makes you want to squeal at the cute, and also a bit heartbreaking. You have strong women who learn to be even stronger, sensitive men who listen to not only their partners, but their own feelings. The cast was impeccably done as well, each person was really into their character and it made the immersion into the drama all the more convincing. Keep in mind, the CGI isn't like Marvel quality, but it came up so rarely I didn't really mind it. The premise is a bit silly, I'm not going to lie. You're going to find the wolf thing a little cringe at times but if you can get past all of the embarrassing moments, it really is a great drama. Give this show a try, because if you're like me and you've been tired of the same family blood dramas with scandals and ridiculous in-fighting, this is the romcom for you!

Love to Hate - a fun watch

The story about a princess suffering a split personality because of something related to the Wolf Tribe and the son of the Wolf King was quite unique, but the resulting drama felt more like a filler type of series and not a must-watch. Still, despite its flaws that included unimpressive CGI and some draggy episodes, I enjoyed Wolf Princess. There were enough twists and turns in the plot to keep things interesting, and the chemistry between the ML and FL was good enough to keep me engaged. Furthermore, as light as this show was, it did manage to tug at my heartstrings, and there were poignant moments that made me tear up.

Yan Qing, the ML, was somewhat of a rascal outwardly. He was very smart, though, and was an experienced military officer with excellent martial art skills. He was constantly teasing Ling Long, the FL, but his actions belied his words as he would do things for her happiness and taking care of her silently, behind the scenes. Unlike the second male lead, Yan Qing also considered matters and issues from her perspective and never tried to impose his will on her even when he was concerned about her. He's a refreshing example of a non-toxic male lead.

Interestingly, Ling Long was the more "tsundere" after growing up with an alternate personality called Lang Yin and having to be constantly on her guard. She repressed her feelings a lot, and even though she was intelligent and resourceful, she often pretended to be submissive to further her agenda. Lan Ying, the other personality was bolder and brasher. The transition between the two personalities and the outcomes provided laughs. Also funny was the constant bickering between Yan Qing and Ling Long. At times though, I just want to shake Yan Qing and tell him to be more transparent with the things he had done for Ling Long, and I want to yell at Ling Long for being resistant and so hard on Yan Qing for so long despite her feelings for him. The saving grace is that the romance heated up nicely after Yan Qing became more obvious and openly showing his affections for Ling Long.

Connie Kang portrayed her character's dual personalities nicely, and I thought she handled the switching back and forth very smoothly, especially in her expressions and dialogue. I actually found this show after watching Jason Koo in the Oh! My Emperor series and he acted pretty well as mischievous Yan Qing. Sometimes it did seem like he was over-acting during some of his character's more goofy moments. To me, he is good-looking in a unique way. The same thing with Connie - she's attractive in a non-conventional way too. Even though I enjoyed watching the two characters' hate to love journey, I found myself often distracted by the fact that they both look quite similar, almost like siblings with a long facial structure.

The secondary couple was also cute together, but I felt that the show put them together to initially create the tension of love triangles that eventually got resolved by having the ML's friend and second female lead fall for each other. Overall, the cast was fine, and Yan Qing's band of loyal soldiers provided lots of comic relief.

Music-wise, nothing memorable except that the songs picked underscored the scenes nicely.

Overall, I would recommend that you give this show a chance and suspend your disbelief until the end. It is an easy series to binge and a good filler.

Fun, adventurous drama

I really liked this drama. I completed it in a day. Something about it got me hooked. There were funny as well as serious scenes. I really liked Gu Jia Cheng in this drama compared to Oh my emperor. The other actors also did well. I didn't actually expect this drama to be this good. Most of the latest historical/costume dramas actually makes me lose interest after the first 10 episodes or so. So i may end up skipping some episodes or dropping the drama. But, i didn't skip any part of this drama. It really entertained me.

Princess who have an identity disorder?

This drama wasn't very interested, i'm sorry! Storyline was kinda dull and slow and kinda weird. I mean some parts were funny and some parts didnt really add up.

The female lead is a princess but she doesnt have much status due to her mom being sent to the cold palace ( aka when the concubine loses favor from the king).Despite her setbacks she is a very smart gal, who sells makeup and other stuff on the side to her her mother have a better life. She knows a little about medicine. The princess actually has a illness, which is basically have two identity. This other identity who lives inside of her is a wolf. The wolf knows how to kung fu and is able to protect Ling long when she is in trouble. The male lead is the 2nd son of the Yan family. He is arrogant, bold and loud but is really good at fighting/kung fu. The leads are always at each others throats. The male lead eventually falls in love with her. Together the stories are revolved around solving crimes that happen. The female lead slowly starts to fall in love with the male lead.

There are some other characters like the second female lead who is sassy, arrogant and kinda bitchy, She has a arranged marriage with the male lead. I couldn't make of her character because initally she was rude and bullying the female lead and then suddenly she changes her attitude.

The crimes solving honestly wasnt very interesting and didnt do much to make the story more interesting. The male lead exaggerated his character maybe too much... Also the story of the two idenitities didnt make the story more interesting. Like they tried to start to explain how she got her second personality but then its so slow to reveal! The romance is kinda a backburner romance. I mean they did have some kissing scenes like in the first couple ep but no feeling to it. Not much chemistry.

Male lead is bae ?

I'm just going to hmmm and awww about the male lead of this drama, if Moon GangTae from IONTBO was a kind, patient and perfect soul then Qing Yan is double of that. I have watched a lot of drama but only three of them has ever come close to Mr Perfect in my heart and Qing Yan just took the crown. He's so kind, patient, respectful and thoughtful. Even when he deserves to be mad and rightfully so, he doesn't, like how perfect is that? He made me love this drama more and the actor did a better job at playing this character as well.
PS. The other male lead is from the drama "The Romance Of HuaRong".
Both characters of romance of HuaRong and the wolf Princess exhibited almost the same characters (both drama has some of the same casts, both were written and directed by the same people and same production)
Both male leads are kind, patient and thoughtful towards others and their female leads.

historical-feel-good-rom-com with enough drama

It's been weeks since I finished watching this drama and I must say that I can still remember how everything happened. This is a thumbs up for me, highly recommended. If you like historical-feel-good-rom-com with enough drama, then this is a good one to watch. I sincerely like how the male lead's character, his personality and temperament was not usual to other Chinese Dramas I've watched before. The story line was great, the plot and twist was well executed. Each character's story is connected to each other and was well explained. Although the ending was a bit disappointing, it's still a good drama to watch. All in all this was worth the time and effort to wait for the next episode every week.

P.S
I cried on the last episode and it's not because of the leads.

Strong female protagonist and great acting by both leads. Storyline could have been tighter but it was not too distracting because character development was excellent. I watched this for Gu Jia Cheng (Yan Qing) and was not disappointed. He plays a funny, caring, and warm male lead who is respectful of female lead (Connie Kang) who is also smart, cunning, and matches him wit for wit. This is something you don’t see in many rom-coms, so how refreshing! This could easily have been a 30-episode story to give the leads more (and better) romantic scenes together but either way this drama was very enjoyable. Highly recommended for those looking for more action/adventure story with romantic partners on equal footing.
