extraordinary

this drama has really exceeds my expectations. I have always seen people talk about how good this drama is everywhere, now one thing about me is I get uninterested in a drama when people mention it everywhere so I did not have high expectations and put this drama off for the longest time but I had nothing to watch and randomly watched this and when I tell you it’s sooo good. really not toxic and no misunderstandings and great leads the Fl might be my favorite of all dramas. one thing I loved was that it doesn’t get boring like other “nontoxic” dramas (love me love my voice or put your head on my shoulder) in my opinion. this drama is extraordinary do not hesitate to give it a try

For such a popular and highly-rated drama, I was expecting so much more and was instead left rather disappointed. In the beginning, I absolutely adored the main leads, especially Qiao Jingjing because of her personality, and loved the amazing chemistry and dynamic of a serious and lost man and a confident, bubbly actress. The first 15 episodes were incredibly entertaining and I was so certain that this drama would end up with a high rating from me. Where it went downhill was right after those 15 episodes. Prior, I had a minor complaint about the clumsily-included scenes of Yu Tu’s sick coworker because of how incredibly boring and useless they felt to the story. However, it wasn’t due to the dull hospital scenes that I entirely lost interest in the drama, but during Jingjing’s second failed confession and the absolute mess that happened after that. For the love of God, these characters are both thirty years old, and yet they have the communication of literal preteens. They ghost each other after a stupid argument instead of talking about their damn problems and end up spending so much unnecessary energy and time being mad at each other for no damn reason. Besides that, the drama has a serious inconsistency when it comes to pacing. When the leads are together, the pacing feels quick and lively, and whenever they’re in another stupid fight or Yu Tu’s busy with his mind-numbingly boring aerospace job, the pacing slows to a snail’s pace and makes me more inclined to take a nap than to keep watching the drama. Once the leads got together, the happy tone of the drama seemed to pick back up, but I was still too angry about the fight to enjoy their goofiness. This is purely personal preference, but I hate watching a romance drama where the main leads go through a lengthy separation because those always feel avoidable and unnecessary. To me, it just feels like unneeded angst, something that I really don’t need when I’m trying to mindlessly enjoy a rom com. The rest of the drama lacked any plot development and went in circles from them being busy to them being together for a short amount of time only to be busy again. I suppose one of the genres is life, so I can’t fault the drama TOO much for that, but the lack of any plot did not do the drama much good in the latter half. I have a similar problem with this drama as I do with “The Day of Becoming You” since I enjoyed a large portion of it but was severely burned by a small element in the drama, which is why I’m not even sure what rating it would deserve. I don’t think I would recommend this drama to anyone unless they wanted to only watch the first half, because the big separation and what followed after that was just not my cup of tea and didn’t really interest me in the slightest. Ah well, to each their own. This is one of those dramas that you either love or hate, depending on your approach to the romance genre.

I think this is one of the top dramas, I really enjoyed! I was literally waiting for the episodes to come out most of the weeks! It's definitely one of your typical love, sometimes cringey dramas. But it's enjoyable to watch when you want something to just smile at.

Those were also my two favourite artists, Dilraba & Yang Yang! I think they are actually soo suitable for each other.
I really enjoyed watching all the episodes, I didn't skip any of it. I also thought the way the episodes were made were really well made, like the views were really nice, the way like everything was very cinematic!

I loved it! I think it's like one of those shows, where you love to soak into and just follow along the story, and I love how it was quite professional, like there wasn't like mad misunderstandings or like crazy exes ruining things, it was just like a normal sweetheart kind of show that was just really cute and lovely the whole way!

I'd totally recommend watching it!

A drama sandwiched between video game ads

First it was love O2O, then Falling into your Smile, and now this drama... Tencent gets respect from me for producing dramas over and over that basically flat out promote the games that they make and glorify the gaming industry. I say that with sincerity, it's really a brilliant advertising strategy especially to get at young people...

We are basically following the inner struggles of a top scientist who wants to do great things for humanity but is advised by everyone else that he should use his time to make money first instead. The great irony is that for someone who struggles so much with his higher purpose, he apparently spends copious amounts of time playing mobile games and is now coaching a successful, productive actress to do the same.

However none of the previous dramas seems to have been this blatant of an ad. The first five episodes of You are a Glory are basically 50% scenes from their mobile game. There's very little plot at all. When the plot kicks in a bit more around Ep 5, it's sandwiched between rather abrupt bouts of gaming, sometimes to comical effect. Scenes of the leads working hard at their job or dealing with life problems are interspersed abruptly with gaming animations and discussions of such delightful topics as 'jungle strategy'.

The acting is fine and good and I guess it could be a nice, if cliche, love story... but the artificial gaming scenes stitched on top are a bit hard to take seriously. It's almost like they threw in the propaganda-like space program story for the ML to help this drama pass censorship.

OK, but doesn't live up to the hype

This is a pleasant drama, without any real sparks. I expected more from these actors and from the level of hype.

Biggest plus is the eye candy of the actors.

Biggest minus -- there's just not a lot of depth there. The first few episodes were very bland. Things got more interesting in the middle, but faded again towards the end. There really wasn't a lot of chemistry in the relationship at any point -- just sort of generic friendly. The best acting was when they were alone: Yang Yang in the episodes in which his friend is sick, and Dilraba in the scene at the very end where she's on the phone asking for a divorce (in a show that her character is acting in).

The aerospace engineering scenes are a disaster. Other than the gender imbalance of the staff, and the fact that Yu Tu plays online games, nothing else is really portrayed correctly. (I'm an engineer, and just like medical doctors who don't like medical portrayals, most computer or engineering portrayals leave a lot to be desired.)

The story follows the book closely.

ORIGINAL REVIEW, WRITTEN AFTER SEEING THE FIRST 8 EPISODES.
THESE COMMENTS STILL HOLD.

This is a pleasant drama, without any real sparks. Chemistry between leads is adequate, but again, not exciting -- Yang Yang's character in "King's Avatar" had more romantic chemistry (and that wasn't even a romance). The plotline is almost exactly the same as "Love Scenery," but much emptier. In YAMG, they basically play the game, with vague hints at events happening in their professional lives. LS had more depth to the plot, *much* better chemistry between leads, and better connections to friends.

There are no stupid FL moments, and she does a pretty reasonable job defending her capabilities. (The promo paragraph says she's "just average," but that's not how it's played.) Her eating disorder is annoying, but sadly unsurprising.

I enjoyed the CG for the game when they do a 3D holographic reconstruction on the dining room table. This unfortunately only happens a couple times. You aren't going to understand the game (esp the teamwork issues) unless you've played League of Legends or watched "Falling into Your Smile."

I expected more from these actors and from the level of hype. So far, it aligns pretty closely to the webnovel. I'll keep watching because it's a reasonable filler leave-your-brain-at-the-door kind of show.

Not for me.

I tried twice and both times I could never get into it. I think this drama is targeted at a much younger generation, a big factor being so much emphasis on gaming. Literally so much of the show revolves around gaming, and it just does not interest me to watch lengthy scenes of characters sitting and playing on their phones and discussing video games. The ML, while super hot, was totally stone faced, although maybe that changes as the show progresses. It didn't during the episodes I watched, he barely made a facial expression once. As if that wasn't enough the plot itself was not very clear in the middle of all the gaming they kept showing, and her tricking ML into meeting offline and then constantly being so forward with him all the time came off as kind of weird and uncomfortable. The visuals were great though especially for a cdrama.

I don't know why, but this just wasn't my taste. I think this is considered an e-sports drama, and I have seen 2 e-sports drama before, including "Falling into your Smile" and "Love O2O", but something about this show just wasn't my taste. The storyline is very bad, it just shows us a celebrity, Xiao Jingjing, who plays some sort of video game, and Yu Tu, who also plays the same video game. It's just them playing the video games, and it's really boring.

Not sending any hate to the cast, the cast was pretty good. For an example, Dilireba is one of China's top actresses, and so is Yang Yang, so putting these two top stars will most likely put this show on trending. I don't hate either of them, but I also don't watch a lot of their dramas. They aren't my favorite actors, but it's just the storyline and everything else was really bad to this show.

I will most likely not come back to watch this. I am more of a historical drama watcher, as it is more interesting to me. I will also say that, so far, to all the Dilireba's drama's I've seen, I'm kind of disappointed. My first show of her's was Eternal Love (Three lives, three worlds, ten miles of peach blossoms) that show was very good, then I watched Eternal Love of Dream, The Long Ballad, and this show. I didn't like any of those shows, so I'm disappointed, this drama wasn't really any different.

I have watch to episode 4 now and I love the drama. The drama follow the book very closely with few change but that is okay. Both of the lead acting is good. I hope that the following episode will continue to be better. I can't wait for the relationship to start. That is when the sweetness begin. The lead chemistry is very good. It make you smile when you look at them.
I like the male lead is not the cold CEO type. I am so bore watching that in Asian drama. I like that he is not rich. I like that he cannot solve everything in life with his money, making life easier for the female lead.
I like that the female lead is very confident in life. She know what she wants, who she like. She not weak or so in love with male lead that she forgot her pride completely.

Someone please explain me the hype

I have no idea why this drama is so highly rated.
I just could not watch it after a few episodes.
I am a huge fan of Yang Yang and even still I could not complete it.
The actress? Who is she kidding? Her acting is terrible compared to the ML. I tried to understand her fame but I think it is only because of her beauty (she is beautiful no doubt) but that's all to it.
I wish Yang Yang better pairings in the future
The drama was stuck inside phone screens for so long that I could not handle it. I needed real human connections but I guss I just couldn't vibe with the idea.

Love in the world of galaxy

As dramatic as it may sound...yes it is a lovestory on the plains of a galaxy...lol.

Acting: Both leads are exceptional actors. YY is that boy you will continuously have a crush on till he notices you*wink*. DD has the right amount of cuteness to make you fall in love with her character, but i would love to see her play a strong FL without being the silly girl in the beginning of a series who is love smitten by an ML.
Story: one thing about the storyline is the progression. It was beautifully done. No rush, progressive development. The down side is that some character like the FL's ex- boyfriend disappeared somewhere after one episode...not sure if it is because i have only watched 12 episodes at the moment..still watching though. The aerospace concept seems to draggy and it is a bit hard, complex and length!!!! It seems to be taking away the whole space in the story!!!
The story between an aerospace systems engineer and an actress is worth watching if you don't mind all the aerospace terms and happening you can't understand.

Disappointing

Do not recommend unless you are really into gaming or want to stare at main leads who are both pretty but unfortunately have no chemistry. The show has been a huge letdown, the story is boring and the acting is very disappointing, especially on Yang Yang’s part. I was not expecting much but in a romance drama there must be at least something between the leads, right? Well, it’s not there, they look like siblings.
You watch it and you just feel nothing, it’s more of a gaming ad than a romance. If you like romance dramas, I recommend kdramas, no one does it better than them.

Let's be each other's glory.

I read the book so here I am, I had to watch it to see what they made of it. I've enjoyed this very much, it's a multi faceted story that encompasses gaming, romance, aerospace engineering and the world of celebrity quite coherently. The close lens into the Chinese aerospace industry ended up being very interesting even though I wasn't too keen to see it initially, ditto with the gaming.

Apart from reading the book, I'm here for Dilraba because I find her acting so charming; coming into this Yang Yang was not a favourite of mine because I didn't enjoy his robotic performance in Love O2O, but I was pleasantly surprised here. I think a lot can be said for acting opposite a co-star who ups your acting game and Dilraba certainly appears to have done that here for Mr. Yang - he's actually very charming and endearing in this.

I like how they emphasised the concept of excellence in your career and doing what you love to the best of your ability over making tons of money. Jing Jing and Yu Tu are a very well matched couple who understand and support each other very well. There'a an abundance of cute couple moments and the grown up, responsible and drama free dynamic of their relationship is what kept me watching.

If you've read the book you'll enjoy seeing it brought to life so accurately, If you haven't read it you should watch this anyway, it's quite enjoyable.
