So it’s all the more shocking that it’s got gratuitous male nudity in almost every episode (all three male leads bare their butts multiple times), gay kisses, shower scenes, sex scenes, uh ... “self-love” scenes... Seriously, I have never seen such an explicit live action drama, and it is definitely on a par with the raciest animated yaoi OVAs. Top-tier hunk Kousuke (Takashima Masahiro) is certainly not shy about showing off in his skimpy leopard print bikini briefs (ahh, the 90s).
But it’s not just about the eye candy ... the theme is about love in all its forms, and the characters are sympathetic as we see how they make mistakes, fall in love and struggle to find happiness in a repressive society. The plot twists you definitely won’t see coming – love pentagons are more interesting and unpredictable when several members are queer, and the story takes some remarkable “Modern Family”-esque turns. Yes, the melodrama gets dialed up to 11 at times, and the plot goes completely off the rails in the second half (seriously, the last 15 minutes are one WTF moment after another), but it never stops being completely entertaining.
I watched this raw, so I got the gist of the story but missed out on a lot of the details. I implore any BL subbing group out there to overlook the age of this drama and please sub this so it can discover a wider audience. “Dousoukai” is a classic of Japanese GLBT culture and history, and not to be missed!

One of the wildest gay romance stories
Whenever you think you know where the story is going it takes some wild turns. This show is and remains (as of 2024) the most daring gay romance drama to be put on Japanese tv. The enormous historical value of this show cannot be understated.There's nudity, shower-scenes, gay love triangles, wild fantasies, a ton of drama and vague lowkey artistic imagery. If you're tired of the current formulaic BL shows this is the perfect change of pace into the more psychological and dark era of 90s Jdramas.
Do I understand the entire story? No it's pretty vague at some points. But I don't think 100% understanding it is the point. The point is to just have a wild journey with these characters and they certainly deliver on the drama. Rewatch value is very high due to me rediscovering every time just how wild this show was.

「我的天連老師都加入，這班到底怎麼了」
裡面的關係很複雜，以第六集結尾畫面來說，A和B是夫妻，A和D是昔日情敵，A和C是前任，A 在婚姻中和E發生過一次性交易，A曾撞見B和同性 (其實是E)發生關係，A知道B和E發生過關係。
B和A是夫妻卻沒發生過關係，B和C是好友，卻在捅破一層紙後進行兩天一夜的蜜月旅行，在婚姻中和E固定發生性關係。
C和A是前任，C和B是超級好友但瞞著彼此的太太發生關係，C和D是夫妻，C曾撞見E和同性(其實是B)發生關係。
D和A曾經是社團學姊妹和昔日情敵，D和C是夫妻發生過關係，D和E是姐弟，D知道B和E發生過關係。
E和A性交易過，拿了錢給B開房間，E喜歡B，並且發生多次性關係，E和D是姊弟。
人物關係之複雜，卻也讓這個故事以螺旋狀，讓情節層層遞進，衝突不斷。
其中我覺得最帥的是西村和彥演的風馬，起初他是最痛苦的，壓抑與好友的情感，和好友的前女友結婚，婚外又搞上一個高中男生，欺瞞所有人。而後他是最幸福的，收穫了好友的愛，妻子的愛，小男友的愛。
每個人都有自己的某些原則或角色特色，讓其身上足以發生驚天動地的事情。
比如七月（齊藤由貴飾演）因其母親曾差點溺死自己，缺乏存在的理由，因風馬需要她，而漸漸愛上他。甚至願意為此包容他和小男友嵐在他們共同的房間做愛，但必須在她存在房間的狀況下。
比如康介（高嶋政宏飾演），他是有恩必報的人，把朋友放在第一位。卻也因為要回報風馬恩情，與風馬發生關係，和他兩人單獨兩天一夜的旅行。而後因為被群暴，受到一個小男生照顧，小男生為了他擋住嵐的一刀，為了這恩情讓小男生在家打理。甚至因此愛上了小男生，原先鐵直的中，只覺得這是條不歸路。
比如嵐，一個雙性戀的高三生，在酒吧遇到風馬，愛上了他。為了籌開房間的錢，在不知情狀況下，和七月發生關係拿了錢。又因其不願忍受飯局表面的和諧，硬是把所有事情扯開來，使得風馬和七月、康介、唯子之間的秘密一次扯開。
而這故事也不只是這幾個人，畢竟是「同學會」，還有包括ちの和老師的「畸戀」等，又引述一個日本的傳統故事，少年白熊和和尚正源相戀，少年死去轉世為櫻姬，櫻姬被其他人強暴，愛上了強暴者一起私奔。展現了不只是跨越性別年齡的愛，還有世間的無常，或者說奇情的感受，而這樣的感受始終貫穿整部劇。
劇中時常使用藍色作為慾望的光色（同時帶點禁忌），比如風馬和嵐做愛時、七月和嵐做愛時，但風馬與康介做愛卻是暖色，顯現康介在他心中不同的地位。
有點不滿嵐最後被莫名殺死，但這又似乎符合整部劇的美學，包括他們誕下嵐的孩子，也取名叫嵐，推著嵐的推車，遇到一個跟嵐長得一模一樣的工人。
最後的收尾是七月和觀眾對話（就像日本傳統戲一樣），敞開拍攝搭景，停留在貼著三張裸照的浴室，上面有康介、風馬和嵐。
