This storyline in the present day shows me that anyone who is hierarchy will try to crush each other for the throne similar to their Dynasty days.

Don't regret it but won't watch again
This was the second k-drama I ever watched back in 2018, coming directly from Boys Over Flowers. You know the deal. My first review would have been more glowing, written behind Lee Min Ho-colored glasses. But as it was with BOF, after a few years of watching other dramas, this one is just...meh. And that's allowing some grace for its age. I honestly liked it a little less than BOF. The female lead (Park Shin Hye) was a little too "damsel in distress" and lacked emotion from the very start which was extremely annoying to me. By mid-series, I was already done with Lee Min Ho as a chaebol lead and found the second lead and his story a lot more palatable. As my title says, I don't regret finishing the series as it served its purpose to me as a gateway drama but I don't think I could ever make myself rewatch it now.Was this review helpful to you?

We all have that guilty pleasure
This one was a slow burn for me (what was the point of those California episodes and the sister storyline?), but damn, I see why it’s a cult favorite. And not because it’ll blow your mind, but because it’s the most addictive piece of crack and at the end you are left asking for more. LMH and PSH really have this sizzle chemistry that you could easily cut into its so thick, and I couldn’t help wanting KWB to try and sneak a little more romance in there and turn this into a legit One Tree Hill love triangle. Because that’s what this is...Korean One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl guilty pleasure goodness. And sometimes you just need a guilty pleasure watch. Especially if the main character is Kim Tan.Was this review helpful to you?
I just watched it because it's Christmas, I wanted something easy to watch and to see Lee Min Ho in a better shape than Boys over flowers.
My review:
Story: don't lose your time. "The heirs" is "Boys over flowers" with a better hairstyle (and sometimes, but only sometimes, better clothes...).
The acting: I didn't like Park Shin Hye. She is supposed to be a strong woman, although all the adversities, but she was always crying. Lee Min Ho...pse... but, I liked the evolution of Kim Woo Bin in this show.
Music: I don't get why they put Love is the moment ALL the time... horrible.
Rewatch value: no, no, no.
Overall: if you have free time, nothing to do, and you want to see something catchy knowing it's not good... this is for you!

The story was nothing new at all: the same ol' rich boy-poor girl dynamic and all the elements it includes (a.k.a evil parent, snobby female rival etc). Maybe the only original thing was the addition of the USA first arc, but not even that was done well. Seriously, I cringed so hard everytime an american actor spoke. Also, it didn't add much to the narrative at all, they could've skipped the entire trip and still have the same product in the end.
Acting ranged from mediocre to very good. I have to voice my disappointment of what an incredible character the female lead, Eun Sang, could've been. Seriously, at first I liked her different attitude than most female leads, but then she started to become whiny, helpless and literally a cry baby with few moments of defiance that just couldn't save my impression of her anymore. I'm a bit confused on that, if it was Park Shin Hye's delivery or just a poorly written script. Maybe a bit of both, since aside from crying, I didn't feel much coming from PSH.
Tan was another lead that could've been good, but turned out bad. Really, he was one of the most annoying main leads ever. And I have to agree with many people that Lee Min Ho was too old to play a high schooler. Heck, I know they tried to conceal it with makeup, but in a few close ups you could clearly notice how he wasn't a young boy anymore.
I think this was one of the few dramas that I found the side characters and couples a lot more interesting than the main. Mainly the dynamic between the mothers of Eun Sang and Kim Tan. It was really delightful to see how their friendship developed, and I have to praise the actresses for deliverying such an incredible perfomance.
Continuing on the side characters, I also simply loved Bo Na and Chan Young's relationship. A million times better than the main couple. Props for Krystal as well, this drama made me like her very much. Another character that shined , even though some of her actions were petty and mean, was Rachel. Something about her seemed so real, and it would've been a lot better if the writers developed her more.
And last but certainly not least, I have to talk about Kim Woo Bin. Oh, Kim Woo Bin. He was the best, his character was the best. He made me loathe him in the beginning, understand and feel empathy for him in the middle and love him by the end. And that scene with Eun Sang's mother...damn, that was one of the most well done and emotional I've ever seen.
However, even if a few performances were good, the overall wasn't. I guess I could define this drama in one quote: What could've been. Everybody was so excited about it from the beginning and the story, although not original, could open space for so many conflicts and development. And not even the music was decent. Seriously, I wanted to rip my ears off everytime I heard the lyrics "Love is the moment..."!

I really liked the cast! And I have to say that music was awesome. All of the soundtracks I could listen to on their own.
The only thing I didn't like was the portraying of Americans, because it was really super awkward at the beginning.

Story: absolute ****, basic rich people school and poor student template
Cast: the American accents at the start made my ears bleed but that's not the only problem, half the students don't look anywhere near 18, felt very uncomfortable with them walking in uniforms.
Sounds: personal taste, I think OST was awful.
Rewatch: I couldn't even finish it out of frustration that nothing is happening and the story made no sense, they cry over every little thing for 10 mins to fill up air time.
Maybe this was good back in 2013, not gonna finish it, I don't recommend it to anyone.
