A realistic slice of life (well mostly)
The Heirs wasn't a simple love story. Well, in a way it was, where the rich guy fall for the poor beauty. Yet the show wasn't just that. It was the tragedy of the heirs. They all seemed to be bound by invisible ropes of their parents' weird hopes.Young Do was tied to the hotel and always supposed to be that rude gangster kid thanks to his father's numerous love affairs and loss of his mother.
Hyo Shin tried to suicide, and was going for psychological therapy, and still asked to maintain his national rankings, not his dreams.
Rachel's life is pathetic. Her mom's remarriage, seeing her fiancé falling for another girl. No one can blame her for her vicious actions.
All the parents in the plot reflects what the future life of these kids might me; unless they take different paths. Their family lives are messes. They aren't happy at all. Just trying to earn more, and to shine over others.
The only kid I didn't feel sorry for, was Chang Young. Of course he wasn't an heir. It explains a lot.
The show was incredibly hilarious. Well balanced funny and emotional moments.
I only cried twice throughout the whole series. It was not for the moments where Tan and Eun Sung Were separated, reunited or wept for each other. I couldn't help but weep out loudly at the scene where Young Do running to get Tan, when his mom leaves home, along with that flashback scene of Tan doing the same. Definitely it was a scene of humanity. If one had the slightest bit of resentment towards Young Do, It simply evaporates.
Then it was Won, crying in his office staring at the broken wish bone. Doesn't it depicts the origin of another cold hearted businessman ? His heart was torn, no one could fix it. It is not very easy to filter kindness out of a broken heart , is it.
Here Tan stands as a rebel who fought and overcame those boundaries and got what he wanted. His love and his mom.
Yeah...it was a one beautiful, heart fluttering romance drama.. yet Carried that one huge realistic story. ABSOLUTELY loved it.

I'm not a huge fan of Lee Min Ho's acting or looks, just not my type. I decided to watch this one because of all of the jokes and trope trashing I'd seen about it on other sites. It felt like a rite of passage. Going into this, I'd never seen Woo Bin in anything and only knew his name from the joke in Goblin, so I had no idea what to expect. As soon as he appeared on screen, I was smitten. I know his character is just another walking cliche, but he somehow made it engaging, and I just cared about his character. He has chemistry with the walls, people-- he doesn't even need anyone else in the scene to light it up and make it matter in a story that was full of things I didn't care about.
There are so many problems with the writing-- the girl is an object to be acted upon, not a free agent of choice. She waits for everyone else in her life to tell her how to feel and what to do, and she dutifully does it. She is not there to be a heroine or role model for young girls, she's there to sell the trope and further the stories of the men in the series. Period. So don't expect any feminist undertones in this one.
The side pairing of her best friend and the girl (bilingual, amazing valley girl English accent) were a nice surprise and fairly healthy couple, solid throughout and fun to watch. But for me, this was the Kim Woo Bin show, and I wouldn't have finished it if he hadn't been cast, honestly.

It's ultimately about the struggle that rich kids go through
Ultimately this drama is about the struggle to survive, It's ultimately about the struggle that rich kids go through. I just finished this drama and I must say I thought it was just gonna be another Cinderella story but I truly underestimated it, it was very wholesome and I absolutely loved the screenplay and the script writing, the scenes were very wholesome too. It's a different approach to a Cinderella story. A very good and different approach to a Cinderella story I must say. The lead couple have great chemistry. Its a great drama that I really recommend watching. Was this review helpful to you?
watch it for pure entertainment - sometimes infuriating!
i don't know how to objectively rate this drama. but that said it was damn fun and entertaining. with a sprinkle of everything, along with a great cast and memorable characters, backed by really memorable repeated (read to the point of irritation!) songs and music. ofcourse, a tidy amount of older kdrama toxic and controlling characters too, for good measure. IT'S A CLASSIC!great addictive initial episodes, but goes off the rails by and ep 17. i never understood this great love or kim tan eun sang and although i got his rebel phase, the whole eun sang comeback resolution and everything was just to half hearted and confusing. and half the things made no sense by then.
happy ending for all pairs except poor hyung!

the cast was the only good thing about the drama. it was a trap actually, they casted good looking people so that people get bound to watch this piece of shit. I'm sorry but I'm mad because I wasted so much time.
park shin ye was such a pain in butt, the acting was super annoying.
there were such great actors like Kim woo bin, lee min ho, park hyun si but all the acting went to waste.
it has non existing music, I usually try to find the positive things in the drama but even the ost was not good.
rewatch? I don't wanna die. I'm sorry.

unbiased review - as much as possible
This drama has many problems.when i started watching this i felt like its a new version of 'boys over flowers' but the characters got to be more annoying. the main issues i had with this drama wasn't the acting skills - there wasn't any sparks flying with the male lead and female lead so the kiss scenes (just like typical k dramas) the man did all the work while the woman stood there as if shes a wall or statue. But the overall acting was very good.
The story need work. It lacks originality and it wasn't executed well as the characters were very much one dimensional so was not pleasing to watch (for me personally). I skipped many scenes in the series as i couldn't bring myself to watch it mostly due to whoever wrote that script. My main problem in this series was the female lead to sum it up - shes annoying. The first couple episodes and throughout the series all she does is cry. I am not making this up she has cried more than i have throughout my life up till now. She has no backbone is some situations , cannot handle confrontations and instead i feel subconsciously always expects someone to save her ass. And finally she is extremely prideful - she doesn't seem to understand the way the world works and expects a different outcome when she continuously refuses any sort of help . She values her pride so much that she doesn't except things that would help benefit her and her mother which made me seriously dislike her.
To sum this up watch this drama if your looking for a stereotypical rich family, a love story that takes a billion years to occur, annoying ass characters
keep in mind that this is just my opinion of this drama

That is all I remembered. Pretty cast but what a shame that the story was terrible. I think the ratings were due to the fact that it was an all-star cast. I ony finished it because I wanted to know what happened to young-do. It's the kind of drama-crack where all you really care about is the pretty on the show. Passable.

Like most high school dramas, there are a lot of gossips and ridicule. There are also a lot of subplots. The storyline and conflicts of the drama are definitely nothing to get excited about. I would say a lot of the character have first world problems. If you are watching this drama in hopes of a great story, this doesn't provide it. However, if you can accept the cheesy plot and drama, this drama can still be enjoyable for the most part. (high school is filled with drama, but definitely not nearly as dramatic as this drama portrays it to be)
Acting/Cast
The cast was definitely the hype of the drama. I personally decided to watch this because of Park Shin Hye, the female lead. Her character wasn't exactly award winning, but she did a good job playing her. The entire cast played their parts well. I particularly liked the character for Kim Tan's mom.
Music
The music is good. It matches the scenes very well.
Rewatch Value
Personally, I wouldnt rewatch this drama, but I wouldn't find it boring to do so.

Well, here goes another good drama. I liked it alot. I watched it 'cause of LMH, sincerely, and the star cast it had. I loved it actually. The acting was not very well in the beginning but it became fabulous at the end. I cried in some episodes to. The OSTs only thing I liked from beginning. I'm thinking of marathon it after my examz.
I liked the story line alone. I do think that now Kim Woo Bin should be lead in his next drama. This drama is going to be the best drama of 2013 & indeed a nice way to wrap this worthy year. Many people might think that it was another all rich type people drama, the heroine getting what she wanted, a happy ending; but like I read there is moral behind every movie & drama so, I think it's moral:
"Walk straight until you reach your destination."
Well, I can't tell you anything else about story 'cause it says "Don't post spoilers". But it's worthy of your time.It might be boring in the start but believe me it is good

I must say I watched it for Kim Woobin and Park Shin Hye at first. I gotta admit it.That is not a spoiler, if you watch the first two episodes you will know that anyway. You'd know it from the synopsis too so yey.
Anyway, going back to that I was saying, the drama is a good one over all. I gave it a ten on my list because I get to it faster, but it's like a nine for me. The story was clichey-ish at some points, at some it's just too pulled off to get the 'watch one more episode' reaction (you will watch it until the last anyway).
The cast was absolutely amazing, call me biased but I think I knew like 99% of it, and those I didn't knew were the american ones. If you don't know them, it's okay, I'll tell you they're brilliant and I'll move on.
Music. Well, the music wasn't quite my type, but it was okay. I still count the engrish mistakes because of reasons (but that's what I did in English dialogues too).
If you plan to rewatch it, I promise you'll live at least half of the shaking you've been living before and, of course, you'll scream just as much at all the characters.
Again, over all I gave it a nine, since I enjoyed it and I'll probably save it so I'll watch it later.
