It's a mixed bag, but a drama you should watch regardless

After rewatching a second time, I can confidently say that the FL and SML are two of the most unlikable, disagreeable, and unprofessional, and frankly, unethical characters I've seen. I disliked them both even more the second time through. I still rate this drama high because of the ML (who is frickin' amazing) and because it says some important things about mental health and self-acceptance but wow, they were terrible.

Here's the spoiler-y part:

Honestly I wish that Yong Shik would have ended up with Jennifer - she was an amazing friend and support all the way through. I just didn't buy Yong Shik's and Ru Da's love, (and I hardly ever say that. ) What the FL and SML did to Yong Shik in the beginning was so unethical and wrong that if there was any justice in the world they should have lost their medical licenses over it - I was just as incensed the second time about how they treated him. Also there are so few dramas that portray issues of trauma realistically and sensitively (and this isn't really one of them either, unfortunately,) but there were a few moments that shined. So all in all, it's a recommended-watch, but Dr. Do is an absolutely terrible example of a mental health professional!!

it was not much that touched me.

I did not get any feelings at al, while l watching this series, there was no chemistry between the actors Yoon Shi Yoon and Ahn Hee Yeon, I have to admit, i did not like her.. I was thining that it was good that it was only 8 episodes. The dialogue was bad and unethical. What therapy would try to sleep with his client ...

Yoon Shi Yoon certainly played very well, I must say. He is good. Kim Seol Jin was fantastic as a friend.> Is this is best performace ever?

But the story did not last, became uninteresting and something was missing. It did not feel noting. It felt wrong that he would end up with his old flame. No. I hope that Yoon Shi Yoon will soon be able to play in a romantic comedy where chemistry exists and the big story lasts.

If ony they put some effort into it...

Nice radiohead intro and nice pink aesthetics but that's where the nice things end. The drama threw at you an enormous mixed emotional package that was never untangled adequately, not even remotely close. The shorter than usual runtime isn't an excuse, 7-8 hours should've been enough to deal with it.

Didn't raise me up

I personally felt the issue of erectile dysfunction was used for cheap jokes and as a way to grab attention. It belittled the problem, if anything.
The problems the main character had around feeling like a failure were different and tackled better though.
Why does Yoon Shi-yoon take these kind of roles, I wonder? He's played a couple where the character is the under dog; bullied, humiliated, the butt of jokes and with low self esteem and lacking in confidence.
I did like how this character didn't radically change though, in terms of his basic personality. Instead of transforming into a polar opposite, he accepted who he now is, what makes him happy and that those things should not be diminished or affected by the goals, aspirations and achievements of others.
Nowhere near my kind of drama though, sadly.

For a short, simple, silly romcom--this show is pretty much 10/10

The acting is exquisite. Yun Si Yun (he's sooo incredibly versatile--he plays convincing soft boys, villains, grand princes, etc.) does an amazing job conveying anxiety and low self-esteem. And how that stuff doesn't magically go away even when you have the confidence to put yourself out there--your voice still shakes and your words arent perfect.

Okay, so if you can set aside some qualms about how they handle medical malpractice, etc. this is a really fun show. Personally, I think this could have been resolved by adding another, more appropriate romantic interest, and keeping his first love as a really good friend. More than that, it shows him being helped up while making the most important steps to get his life back. I think that aspect is important. There are a couple things I would change or add to the message. (Like the fact you can please your partner without penetration being on the table.)

This isn't some incredible masterpiece with groundbreaking cinematography, but for what it is--this show is pretty much 10/10.

A romance drama about erectile dysfunction? 9/10.

This is my first time seeing a really good short web drama. Usually the cinematography, story line, and acting are awful, but this was good!

The first few episodes bore me, but it gets better! I love the acting of Yoon Si Yoon (Do Yong Sik) and my girl Hani (Lee Ru Da). Her emotions are not stiff, and the way she delivers her lines is not monotonous. Although the two doctors, Ru Da and Ji Hyeok, are a tad bit annoying, everything was great. And can we talk about the taboo storyline they have? It was interesting to watch about a man who has erectile dysfunction, who has an obsession with pink, and his transgender friend! I also love Jennifer (Kim Seol-jin); she's gorgeous.

I love the story, but I wish that they tackled or focused a little more on the medical problems of Yong Sik. I really want to see how he overcomes his fear and gets better, but they show romance and the main leads relationship more. Still, the OSTs were good, there were no dragging scenes, and the acting of everyone was pleasing. I'll give it a 9/10.

You Raise Me Up (2021) - This drama was not really popular and not mainstreamed and I understand that. The genre being in focus on the mature audiences related to sex, it came off as not watchable to all audiences and also those who are wary with this type of genre in Korean dramas. Still I am happy with how the drama turned out but it's not really something new.

For me, this drama is one of those dramas that I could watch to just have a finished drama and to let the time pass. The actors did well, and the leads are not new in my eyes as I have seen their other works.

I started watching this drama because of the comedy tag and description thinking I was going to have a good laugh

However I laughed maybe 2 or 3 times in the whole series but cried every episode

I don’t' get the comedy tag/description, is it because of the doctors who are complete clowns ?

But then again probably I am the broken one, even though I'm not a man I could relate to Do Yong Shik so much it broke my heart. Yoon Shi Yoon's acting is top notch as always, I could feel every emotion he portrayed, understand and relate to the struggle and low self-esteem. All the bad things he thought about himself and the harsh judgement he received from others, the hurt from feeling alone, misunderstood, judged and always feel as he's a step behind everyone else.

Even though I despised (some times more than others) Lee Ru Da and Do Ji Hyuk and think that she totally doesn't deserve our pink boy, I really loved Do Yong Shik and Jennifer, I was happy he at least had a friend like her in his life.

I also really appreciated Yong Shik's character development and the message that is sent about mental health, the impact it can have on us and how much it's important to love yourself.

I was really happy that in the end he learned to love his present self as well as his past self.

Just Amazing

Amazing show. First I wanna say that Yoon Shi Yoon is an amazing actor. He depicted anxiety so well. If you are experiencing anxiety or have in the past, this show really resonates with you and even becomes inspiring. You see the struggles the main characters go through and it is so easily relatable. While I do understand that those who don't really have anxiety would think the slow is kinda slow, that is because they don't understand how hard it is to overcome anxiety. It takes time and effort. It is a really scary thing to overcome. I've watched a lot of kdrama's but this one hit me the most.

This is not a romantic drama - this is a psychological horror trying to play as a Rom-Com

This show has so many problems on so many levels... The unprofessionalism of both doctors and a bet about another person who is a patient?

No, just no, no, no, nah-a, nah, no way.

What kind of message does this show wants to present to its audience about Korean and general health care (especially psychology-wise)?

For crying out loud, the ML wanted to off himself, that is a serious matter. It was not played as a joke (which works in some cases), but the series failed to grasp the full seriousness and danger of such a behaviour in a person.

If I could, I'd give this show -20. Both doctors should lose their licences. This is not a romantic drama; this is a psychological horror trying to play as a Rom-Com.

Good Enough

Korean Drama "You Raise Me Up" had a comical prompt, but an emotional and heartwarming story.

The drama does a great job showcasing the main character's downfall and struggles to find himself again and raise his own self-esteem. And that is why the romance takes the passenger's seat and, even though it has chemistry and some cute moments, it's not the star of the drama. The pace was, in addition, just perfect, with few flashbacks and a smooth ending.

The performances were all great, finally, by everyone in the cast.

So, overall, 8 out of 10.

New K-Drama genre: Dark-Sex-Comedy-Drama

I thought it was going to be a comedy but I was wrong. I giggled because the theme is about men-specific-issue; however I don't see any scene that funny.

Story is realistic with with enough spice of drama to jolt your emotion; but as a person you may relate with the main character and his situation at some point in your life.

A cool take away from drama to get happiness from what you got, opposite to get depressed from what other people got.
Cliché but true! I am not going to get richer than Elon Musk in my life time; but I am happy enough to get eat 3 meals a day, having sex with non-super-model partner; masturbate without main lead's issue, and lastly watch k-drama at my leisure time.
Know your limit; Put best effort to break it; whatever the outcome, enjoy the ride!
