Liked it!

A good series doesn't always need multiple episodes. This one got the job done well in just three. Here are my pros and cons:

PROS

WAR AS BEST. Despite him being the most gorgeous guy in the cast (by far), War played the insecure Best really well. And, unlike some other actors, he cried real tears!

FERN. Even though I hated her character (outing someone to their parents is a no-no), I thought the actress played her really effectively.

ENDING. The sad ending didn't bother me because, as this story was told, it was totally realistic.

MUSIC. It was good and War is a decent singer.

CONS

STORY. Overused and outdated. It's 2021, folks. Does homphobia still exist? Yes. Do some parents still freak out when discovering they have a gay child? Of course. But times are changing and evolving. This story was simply: Despite Best and Dew liking each other, Dew's mom finds out and sends him away to break them up. The End. We've heard this story for years, and it's time to stop giving it credence. The world needs to see acceptance from parents.

Still, this was presented decently. I'm giving it an 8.0.

OKKAAYYY

So, I want to start off by saying that seeing Yin and War in another drama together made me really happy. This mini-series gives us a realistic version of having a crush in High School. This series is something that everyone can relate to. It also shows the hardships a teenager could face when discovering their true self. War was able to play an 18-year-old High school student even though he is darn near 30(I'm kinda exaggerating but you get the point) This series had such amazing, directing, acting(Fern especially), and cinematography. The colors kinda reminded me of I Told Sunset About You with all the orange. And I'm not gonna lie in the first scene I thought they had taken it back to the '80s but they... didn't. It relied more on writing and I know I’m not familiar when it comes to the Thai language, I should say that Rookie Thailand really didn't sub all of the writings which I was extremely disappointed about because it was a major point to the plot. With all that said I really enjoyed this. Yin and War as we aaallllllll know have amazing chemistry and to be a 3 episode mini-series I’m okay with how it ends...you have to watch it to find out.

Hopeful

As a YinWar fan it's only natural I'm here. First, keep in mind this is a mini series. It stressed me out seeing it would be 3 eps but I went in anyway. It stretched out the more basic, unnecessary parts and made the main story worthy of being called "mini". Don't dismiss this though, it was actually pretty good. It had some pretty realistic issues that weren't made/acted too tacky. I'm down with/must have another season lmao
There's a few parts that aren't translated but even if you don't look it up you can use your imagination lol
Enjoy...

Well-done classic teenager love story

The plot is actually pretty classic, but what makes this series is stand out better than other is the quality of the series and the actor's acting.

The cinematography is freakin good, they put a lot of work to make aesthetic shoot. The filter is so bright and giving calm-pure vibe that reminds us of how naive and pure teenager love is. I dont know why even the filter was really bright but i can feel the sadness-full of expectation vibe on it, well i could say it was simply an angst series vibe. The sounds effect is good too! They put really match sounds effects and made the series is more alive.

Talking about acting. War acting is the point. He could Express his character he play really well. I could say i can felt the happiness, sad, pain, flustered, shy and everything how Best feel. Also, yin acting is getting better. Yin played his character well too. Basically all the actors and actresses acts so good, not even one is stiff with expression. The ending is really good. They made an open ending which is i can't say it was an sad ending cs they put a probability of DewBest might ended up together after the last scene.

I really appreciate how the production teams work really well and put a lot of effort for this series. Everything is well done!

"That blissful and dejection moments of my high school crush"

Almost all of us experience having someone we liked during our teenage days at school. But for a male student to like another male student is a hard uncontrollable feeling that take too much courage to process, in which most people ended up not telling his feeling towards the person he liked. However, in this mini-series, the most painful thing is that they both liked each other but they didn’t have the chance to make it clear and loses the timing to confess.

“I like you and you like me too but unfortunately we failed to cross the boundary.”

Although there are many typical romantic scenes in the story, it was still cute enough to emphasize the growing relationship of the couple. I am a huge fan of YinWar and once again they proved how good there are in acting and how great their chemistry is.

Personally, I do also take the initiate to get the attention of my high school crush to be able for me to get close to him so I can really relate to BEST and his silly yet adorable action towards DEW. It really feels good to have a crush to someone but as we continuously fell in love, we hope and demand for the one we liked to also have the same feelings to us in which leads us to being heartbroken. There are only two results of crossing the line, it is whether we end up being happy or we end up being sad.

Once the boundary has been crossed, every word and action you do became an attitude, this kind of attitude is what determines where your relationship will be heading to. If only they got this kind of chances, if only, only if…

FAVE SCENE: It is when BEST bestfriend’s hug and comfort him when he was in tears after his farewell moment to his crush. I am really happy to witness real friends supporting their male friend on having a crush to another man. There’s no dull and what ifs moment happened, RAY and BRIGHT accepted BEST for who he is. Aren’t the three of them the cutest? Specially RAY! and if part 2 will happen, I am looking forward to the hint presented to RAY and the other band member, are we getting another couple? Only if a second season happens.

ANNOYING SCENE: The rejected FERN who seeks ally to DEW’s mother. I’m totally mad when someone unfolded a sensitive topic specially about someone’s sexuality to others. Wrong move FERN, bad bad bad! It is so disrespectful for her to discuss this kind of matter to DEW’s mother, she’s not worthy to be a friend. Also, DEW’s mother is another close-minded parent that needs to be educate and must accepts DEW for whoever person he likes as long as the person is morally and a kind human being.

Anyways, I do enjoy watching the drama, it started up joyful and cute, but I ended up crying in pain.

Saw this type thousand times but still good

This is maybe something that you saw many times before- the shy boy and the popular one in school, the shy fall for the popular but keep it as a secret.
BUT- the acting, the actors, the whole setup- I think it's worthy.

It's only 3 episodes long but in those 3 episodes I felt many emotions- from happiness and joy to frustration And disappointment.
I really hope that there will be continue for the series but if not, that was a good use of 3 hours.

First time I'm writing a review so I don't really know how to do it so good but I hope you got the point

Too Short, but Great Nonetheless!

As the title suggests, this drama was too short, but still great nonetheless.

My only beef was that if it was going to be 3 episodes, that they could have added 20-30 mins to each episode, and extended the story a little bit more. Some people might think that the pacing was too slow, but for me, I like slow-paced dramas because generally speaking we tended to spend a lot more time watching characters develop, and it mirrors real life more. Fast-paced dramas are fine, but usually run into the problem of constantly introducing problems that are resolved in the next 20 mins and feel the need to constantly escalate the conflicts. Eventually, they reach a point of absurdity where you can't even believe the validity of anyone's feelings. That being said, this drama does not do that, and for me, that's a plus.

I liked that the cast was kept tight. There weren't too many side plots that we needed to be concerned with, and there wasn't an overtly convoluted story where you're left wondering wtf did I just watch? The plot was simple, boy has a crush for a popular boy in school, as they get closer, they eventually develop feelings.

The ending itself didn't bother me. Although I love happy endings, I know that in real life, not everything ends the way that you want it to. (Which is why La La Land's ending for example was one of my favorite endings in a rom/musical). I'm fine with them not getting together at the end. The only part that I felt could have been developed more, was that we had a 10-min montage at the end to see the story from Dew's perspective. If they had extended each episode by 20-30 mins each, we could have seen his perspective in real time. It would have had more impact I think on the ending when they both want to confess, but didn't have the courage to. We would know that Dew was already interested in Best. It would also have made Dew's conflict with his mother have value.

Overall, I liked the drama. I think it's a good short drama. I wish we either had 2 more episodes to develop them more, or longer episodes, or both.

The Best Emotions and borderline stalking

The stars of this drama go to the Best War as in War Wanarat Ratsameera for the way conveys all the emotions of a scared teen in love. Portrayal that is just heart-wrenching at times I can feel every single one of his emotion with him and that is pretty damn impressive for a series as short as this.

Yep this way, way, way, to short series starts off with boy meets boy, gets a basketball on his head, get a crush on boy who threw a basketball on his head... And then all the emotions unleash as his crush develops but he does not really dear to say anything since emotions are really scary for a teen especially when it involves a schoolmate of the same sex.
So he basically choses to write songs, take secret photos and observe from a safe distance (hopefully) without being noticed.

The story it self is nothing really out of the ordinary, nice supportive friendships, some backstabbing friendships, a whole bunch of longing, unrequited love, good music and students who actually study (shocking, I know). The entertainment value very by the episode but I will say it is done well and left me wanting more, a lot more.

What was the point here?

What was the point of this series exactly? It started out well but there were so many missed opportunities. It lacked, for me, reason. Why was there so many issues in the last episode? Why did the girl find it necessary to tell the mom about Dew? Why didn’t Best just say something to Dew at the end instead of keeping quiet and making assumptions? So many whys. There was no semblance of a resolution. What is it that the writers are trying to tell with these three episodes exactly? I felt there was no true direction.

Short, simple but well done

Though this was a short 3 episode drama, it was still really enjoyable to watch....

STORY:
The overall storyline is very simple, about a shy slightly awkward boy who has a crush on the popular kid at school. Some cliches as well as they reveal they liked each other secretly the whole time. But this is a tried and tested cliche that always works... that angst.....

ACTING:
Overall the acting in this drama is really good despite possible budget constraints etc. But the standout to me was War's acting. Watched him in En of Love where he acted really well in that already but his acting here was AMAZING. I could feel all the different emotions that his character was feeling as well... from the shy unsure nervousness that came from crushing not only on a very popular target in school but also from the fact that he was experiencing same-sex attraction. His bashful glances from behind the bookshelves to peeking at his crush walking by the classroom... all these are really relatable. Even his pleased looks that he tries to hide when his crush shows him attention... all these were nuanced and well acted out. And that scene where he wrote on Dew's school shirt with hesitation and tears glimmering in his eyes, my heart BROKE for him!! Cant wait to watch the both of them again soon.

MUSIC:
Music score here is really well done and the OST is perfect. It was written for the show and the lyrics fit the story well.

OVERALL:
Wrecked by the sudden ending but accepted it as a part of real life. That crushes don't always work out but what mattered was that they enjoyed their school life to the fullest and acknowledged their growing feelings. And Best did all he could so that he would not have lingering regrets. Have watched it again twice already :))

This is literally too short ....

This is a really short drama of only 3 episodes from start to finish and only 18 minutes long for each episode.

Did I enjoy it?
- NO
Is it worth it?
- If you stuck for nothing to watch and just need to pass the time, then Yes
Is the music good?
- 50/50

Story line was okay the normal and typical storyline of a high school, basically the story is overused, it is very simply, with not much thought in it, you can basically just watch it with your eyes closed and you will get the feeling of whatever is going on, that's how simple it is, especially if you have watched enough BL with the same plot.

Characters- Well they did play from what I saw in between Dew/Best were well matched and the friends were cool enough to encourage him to take the leap.

What was the point of this series exactly? there were so many missed opportunities. It lacked, for me, reason, and depth.

What is it that the writers are trying to tell with these three episodes exactly? I felt there was no true direction.

Sad part it could have had potential but it didn't

SO FOR THIS IS A BIG HELL NO!!

Huh? Well Ok

Maybe I wouldn't feel left hanging if the subs were completed. The 3rd episode was missing the key points, so I don't even know what was written by Dew....
At first I thought, good Fern understands that you can't help who you like, then she plunged the knife is his back and he didn't have a clue. What's even more heinous is she continued on as if they were friends. Uggh these types get my blood to boiling.

Otherwise I agree it was a simple, enjoyable plot, that left room for much more. Too bad it was only meant for so little.
