a realistic representation of growing up with insecurities

it's not the center plot what makes blueming so special but the way the plot is execute, we've watched shows with these topics before, so much that we can say is a cliché, but usually it takes a lot to feel related or the way it's solved it's unrealistic, when siwon says his mom never said sorry to him and that she doesn't understand him to the fullest as he doesn't understand her, that felt so real and a good way to put that life's still going on even after those big fights and revelations and that not always end up in a clear outcome. Also loved the way siwon's insecurities growing up shows in the way he gives and receives love, he never was close to receive daon's love because he needed it and once things escalated he was confident enough to ask for more and to reveal more, this especially is a highlight for me because just like the way you grow up with fear of being transparent you also are internally begging to be seen and siwon is a character that portrayed that amazingly; i love this show and i can confidently say it's now part of my comfort shows.
kudos to cinematography because it was amazing, acting and music too, really worthy i wish there was more but also no because just like that it's perfect ?

Heartwarming drama, with serious topics.

Wow, this drama is truly one of my favourite BL dramas. The chemistry between the two leads was really, really great and I think they both really deserved each other.

The struggles people faced in this were real, serious topics shown in the real way. It shows the loneliness, unconfience and sadness that young adults go through to be the picture perfect. Also another serious topic discussed throughout this is the fear of not being perfect, Cha Siwon was scared of people not liking him, highlighting his insecurities and his character development after he met Hyeong Daun, was truly bliss.

I really liked Hyeong Daun's character, being a role model student, but actually having a really hard home life, with no one really being around.

Cha Siwon's character was also another one of my favourites as I found myself relating with him the most, being scared of failure and always wanting to be perfect, as he was scared of not being liked, being an outcast.

Simple Coming of Age Story

**Brief Synopsis**
T (Student): Hyeong
B (Student): Si Won

- Beginning: B is a new college student with an obsession with popularity and being the best. He has won a lot of awards in the past and is confident that in college he’ll continue his reign of popularity. That all changes however when he meets T, another student at the school. T is better looking, richer and has better grades and suddenly B starts doubting whether he is actually as good as he thought himself to be.

- Middle: B sees T as his rival, but T seems happy to make friends with B and starts appearing in his vicinity. They end up spending more and more time together, their relationship becoming closer and an attraction starts to develop. As B goes through his everyday life, he starts encountering more problems he’s finding difficult to solve. It is revealed that B had been bullied as a kid and in order to be liked by others, starts pretending to be someone he’s not, hiding all his anxieties inside.

- End: T consoles B and tries to help him accept himself more. B accepts his feelings and they start dating. Just before their happy ending though, B finds out T has helped him get something he had thought he had gotten himself, hurting his pride. There is a temporary break up but T is quick to apologize in person and admit his own insecurities. B accepts and they reconcile (**tears warning**).

**My Opinion**

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT IT:
- The actors playing B and T. Their chemistry was amazing and their interactions were cute and sweet. They also do a great job in portraying the affection between the characters.
- I like how B finds himself more confident by the end of the show thanks to T’s help.
- This show accurately depicts how valuing your self worth based on popularity can have a devastating effect on your mental wellbeing.
- The writing is pretty nice despite the plot being predictable and cliche. The director do a good job depicting teenage angst and learning how to become an adult.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE ABOUT IT:
- Very tame intimate scenes which can be a disappointment.
- Plot is extremely simple and predictable. There aren’t any plot twists or memorable moments.
- Usage of miscommunication as source of angst: T should have told B about helping him or simply let B decide whether he needs help or not in the first place. Making decisions on behalf of your partner and having them find out about it is often used as a method in fiction to introduce conflict.
- Slow burn, meaning they only got together in the last episodes. I would have loved to see more of their daily interactions as a couple.

**Conclusion**
An OK watch but won’t be revisiting again.

WHOLESOME.

Hi! So I finished watching this series a while ago. Maybe almost 10+ days ago. And I carried on watching other series too but honestly my heart still lingers around this series a lot. It's 1 AM at my place rn and I am writing this series while listening to girl in red's Eleanor and Park. Had you known that song, you'll understand why was I talking about it here. Or you'll atleast get the vibe. I'll try to make this review short and to the point.

The reasons why I LOVED this series were
1) It's not just a regular/typical BL where two males fall for eachother and find difficulty in accepting it.
2) This is about accepting one's self. Self acceptance is something many of us fail at. This series portrays that real well.
3) Also about self awareness. It's not just about knowing things but confronting one's own self. Even that area was thrown light in this series.
4) Loving without expecting anything/loving unconditionally. Even though the series is short, they tried their best to subtly showcase how one lead fell in love with the other. And the things they do for eachother.
5) THE IMPORTANCE IF COMMUNICATION. This is something I can highly relate myself with. I am someone who shuts everyone when I get low/overwhelmed and I very well know this isn't the way it should be. In ther series, one character faces the same struggle and tries and succeeds at overcoming it. Communication and comprehension are keys to relationship and they portrayed them really well.
6) CINEMATOGRAPHY. CINEMATOGRAPHY. CINEMATOGRAPHY.
7) Screenplay, direction AND DIALOGUES.
8) Leads and their acting. Very beautiful and soulful.

Just go watch it. It's short and sweet and very much a slice of life series. No much drama. Just a home. A place to feel and be okay about being vulnerable. A place to find answers to questions and leads to doubts. Watch it, please.

a soft and subtle masterpiece! Highly Recommend

As I have been diving in to the world of BL for the past 3 months (starting from October 2022 till today) I have noticed a certain pattern in BL dramas:
- same storyline: two guys meet and fall in love
- a girl or guy who wants them to break apart
- at least one parent is iffy about them dating at first

But not with blueming. this is a short length show that I can heavily relate to from the self confidence and self love part of it.

Watching this show as a 23 year old girl who has experienced hate due to appearance, it was like I was seeing myself going back to my highschool days. I cried watching that one episode where they were shooting the film and it was basically si-won's childhood.

The love elements of the show were on point and the perfect amount! (not gonna spoil this for y'all *wink*

All in all, it was a beautiful show! Highly recommend!

good but that's it

The story is great, I like it. The casting is good too, but even with all that, it wasn't that memorable as a kbl FOR ME.

I'm not saying it's bad, I actually think it's great and the plot touches such an important topic and makes you sympathize with the main character but still, feels like its just a one time watch. Not one of my favorites, but not one of my last ones either.

Anyway, I enjoyed and it's nice to watch it if you don't have anything else in your list, really short so can finish it in one day.

One of the most beautiful stories I ever came across

Blueming. this word means something that is unfolding or blooming. And that is what we see in this drama. An insecure, self-doubting, and under-confident person blooming into something a bit better.
This story gave us an inside out about how we all live in this world where money and looks matter. Sometimes more than talent. It was crafted realistically and the characters were beyond just being relatable. It consisted of only 11 episodes, but the detail-oriented production made every frame worth millions of stars. The characters had their own stories to tell, and they all lived on the way everything was, just how reality is.
This drama told that pain is pain, it cannot be compared. Thoughts about what people think of you will never make you happy and there are times when some people will cross paths not to judge you, but to lift you.
I will never be able to tell how much this drama means to me because it hits hard in my heart but also comforts me.
It sounds rather vague, but this drama just defines "Sometimes, all that a scaredy idiot needs is another idiot, and together they can smile forever."
It is worth watching - make sure to watch it at least once in your lifetime

A MUST WATCH?

Everything about the drama is so good, the acting and the chemistry between the main leads is so gooood, the story is so gooood soo deep and many people can relate to, it's sad and made me cry so much but in a good way, shows the development of characters, the "we are not perfect but we try to be perfect for e/o"
The director obviously put a lot of effort in the drama, everyone working in it put a lot of effort and you can see that clearly~~
really a must watch and you will totally love it

Visual masterpiece

I've had this BL on my watchlist for a while and the reason why I decided to watch it was obviously visual aspect.

The shots and scenery were absolutely astonishing. The overall aesthetics of this drama are stunning. Truly a masterpiece.
Acting was great as well. All those details that the actors included were brilliant.

Story-wise - it wasn't bad. There were some parts missing a bit of context and sense. I wish they were developed better. Episodes could've been a bit longer too.

However, despite all these minor shortcomings, it was a very enjoyable series to watch. I found myself adoring the cast and the scenes for the whole time. Utterly mesmerizing.

If you want to watch something that's beautiful visual-wise, this series is definitely for you!!

All Time Favorite

This show is the best korean bl series I've ever watched. I love the visual, cinematography, soundtrack, chemistry, story, colouring, and the vibe they gave in this drama. Every scene in this show is beautiful, I love how the colouring of this drama match the story so well. It's more like watching a movie than series, the plot and pacing is so good.

The story is kinda simple but realistic. I relate to the characters especially Cha Siwon. The issues that he've been through, such as family issue, insecurity, and trust issue are relatable as a gay man. And there is Dawon who is gonna be Cha Siwons boyfriend, the story of them is interesting and pretty. The chemistry of both of them amazed me, I don't feel there is an awkwardness of them together.

This series is perfect, you must watch this one. Beautiful, Relatable, and Artistic is the words that describe this mini series. Worth to watch and rewatch!

let's break this down

before I get in depth on what I liked and what I disliked through out this short series I'm just going to give you a short sentence if you just don't care for long reviews : it's very good watch it and it's not cringey at all.

okay let's talk

I loved everything starting from their characters to their dynamic and intimacy, I think they had a lot of chemistry that was so quiet and low key which is in their case an advantage. most of the time I like angst and drama and the more dramatic the show is the more likeable it is to me but usually writers can't pull angst off it sometimes turn cringey and unrealistic.

I'm not saying they played it safe or anything, but the quiet low key dynamic of the relationship and the whole show made the show very bearable unlike most dramas rn I don't know if my point is clear on that one but it was something on my mind. I liked the silence that the show gave.

second point that I like is that I liked the music very much and that's a rare point on Asian bls, the music is mostly winged and not very thought about even sometimes annoying. In this one it's noticeable and fitting. so that's an interesting point.

I liked the whole aesthetic, the bike scenes, the cuddle scenes, the last beach scene, the last scene. it was very memorable to me and kinda heartwarming.

what I really didn't like is the lack of Daun hyeong. his character was more interesting to me personally that's why I was waiting for him to have his time and open up about his life. I wanted to see more of him and how his home life affected him but it seemed like the writers left it up for our imagination which is normally would make me feel like ohh that's annoying I want to know more but because siwon was so expressive in every moment I realized that it was intentional. dh was someone who hid how he felt and he wasn't going to open up unlike sw. I thought it was very smart of the writers to put that in mind.

that's it for me I really liked this show it's definitely in my top 50 list.

Good, Just Not Remarkable/Memorable

Perhaps I am in the minority here with this series. While it is enjoyable to watch, it just is not memorable. But something felt missing for me. Maybe it was its too clean and polished production. It was too cute and a bit saccharin sweet for me. It just did not seem real to me. I also found the characters wooden and we honestly did not get to know them. Overall, this series for me was forgettable and had little impact on me. Its production was too unfocused, and the plot too predictable. Although this series is good, it just is not consequential or remarkable.
