Only if The Veil was this good…
A much needed behind the story…This mini series of 2 episodes (55 min each) was released just a week after the main drama The Veil's last episode aired. I think… this after-story must be seen after watching the parent story (The Veil) only… jumping on this before won't spoil suspense but it will spoil the fun…
Seo Soo Yeon (acted by. Park Ha Sun) is an interesting character in itself. I liked her character in the main part only and watching her here again & this time as a better & more strong character felt good. This short story is more about Soo Yeon and less about others since this part narrates a story of her past… just beginning of the story got me thinking that maybe all agents have their own reason to enter this field. There's a behind the story or layer after layer behind every decision they take…
Jang Chan Woo (Jung Moon Sung) is yet another role that's unforgettable. His character was not given so much priority in The Veil unlike here… Moebius represents the 2nd side of coin while the Veil only showed us the 1st side. On analyzing both sides, the story was actually very incomplete until Moebius came out…
Dealing with so many secrets and in the chaos of protecting them, then trying to catch the "rat" who's hidden deep in their own roots made agents to have trust issues between themselves only… the one they actually think of wrong could turn out to be right while the trusted one may/may not be on their side… the pressure from the organization (superiors), using someone & being used is still there like The Veil…
Action theme can't be neglected yet again. Since Namgoong Min was not here, someone had to take over his job. It's Park Ha Sun here. She did a few scenes like that. They weren't that smooth or intense like NGM but they weren't bad either.
Only if The Veil was as good as Moebius, it would have made up to my favorite list.

As good & thrilling as the main drama.
Moebius: The Veil, also carries the same message as the main season, The Veil. Human's own conviction of truth and righteousness is something that can either raise them high or destroy them for good. And when it comes to to loyalty, what harbours, nurtures and strengthens it is trust upon each other. The 2 episode short spin-off, had these things to convey.Plot is nothing but the back story of the main series, keeping Seo Soo Yeon (Park Ha Sun) at the centre. How & why she ended up in the NIS and during his mission he discovers astonishing facts about the agency and at the same time gets involved with Chang Chun Woo (Jang Moon Sung), the black agent who has been cornered by his own agency years ago. They develop a close bonding between them and the story ends with a mission and it's subsequent results.
This also is a proof of how personal greed, power trip and high ambitions ruin an organization, putting the life of people working in it, in danger. Lies, conspiracies, greed for wealth and power, etc. bring hazard to intelligence agencies like this.
The production value is again very high. The direction and screenplay are intriguing. The short yet intricate & exciting development within 2 episodes with awe-inspiring twists and revelations, truly amazed me. Action scenes and the characters' skills and performance has been delivered well, which is worth looking forward to. The writer didn't forget to showcase human emotions and psychological behaviours this time either. The melancholic elements with the shady tracks and bg scores will melt your heart.
We all craved for more because the main series has only 12 episode but thanks to this pre-planned spin-off episodes that was on the productions' mind all along, we got another treat of a superb action thriller, yet again.
Also, some were mad about Seo Soo Yoon's insignificant role in the story, but lil did we know about how significant her character was, that laid the foundation of the entire thing years before. Her character makes so much sense now. This was much needed.

Bad prequel
It was too expensive to keep Namkoong for another 2 episodes so we got this instead. These sloppy 2 episodes further highlight the worst points about the original series. Soo Yeon once again proven to be the worst character. We got less violence and a worse story, action and performance. If you barely got through the original one then I recommend skipping this useless prequel.Was this review helpful to you?

After watching this spin-off, I suggest that you should watch the original, The Veil, as one of the huge pros about this particular series is that you kept in the dark as Han Ji Hyuk too finds out what happened within the year that he lost his memory.I feel like this could have been longer to explain PHS’s character’s hostility towards NGM’s character with situational evidence and that this could have been the finishing piece to complete the full storyline as there are still a lot of questions within me that I’m unable to answer. However, despite this, I still enjoy the spin-off even though the action scenes are less intense than the original due to the lack of time to build up the suspense. The chemistry between the main characters is so strong despite it not being romantic is refreshing. Watching this finally allowed me to connect some of the loose strings together but I wished it was longer. But I do think that this might be one of the best ways to end a drama: keep them wanting for more.
