Cute short series

This was probably the 3rd or 4th k-drama I've seen that has the overall storyline of a big city boy goes to the countryside and meets a farm-boy. But even though the trope is becoming fairly popular, I can see the reason for it and still quite enjoy them.

This was no exception as I thought the story was cute, the acting was good and the pacing made sense. One thing that stood out to me in this one was that I found myself laughing so much more throughout, mostly because of Ye Chan's antics and bumbling nature. He is just so clueless and it's absolutely adorable. It made for some great chemistry between the two leads because Yul's reactions were just as comical.

While the series was nothing groundbreaking for me, I would still rewatch this for a feel good short engagement when I need a pick-me-up. Highly recommend.

Very Wholesome

After reading the manhwa, I was excited to find out about the drama adaptation. Even though the story is nothing special, it’s definitely cute and refreshing. Just your typical feel-good cheesy romance. The actors also did a really good job portraying the characters like how they are in the manhwa! I’d definitely recommend this since it is short and sweet. If you watch this and are looking for more of Yul and Chan, definitely read the manhwa! There’s a season 2 where you can see their relationship develop more. :)

Refreshing, and really adorable

Yul was a bit of a hard character to like, but he has good character development by the end. Yechan is the cutest golden retriever fluffball I've ever seen; not that Yul is terrible for Yechan, but I just sorta think Yechan deserves someone that's utterly in love with him as he is with Yul. Or at least more expressive? Idk, the chemistry (both acting wise and character wise) was there and okay, but it also felt awkward a bit and the dynamic was a bit off for me. Yul and Yechan were cute but I just loved Yechan's character more so I can't help but want more than the best for him. Honestly, I've been laying here trying to think of another BL character that I'd prefer to match up with Yechan, but I can't decide — so maybe I'm just a selfish bish that wants to pocket Yechan for myself xD.

I really liked the setting of this drama with all the calm and healing aesthetics that come with country side living, so that was refreshing to watch. The main plot is really light hearted (country boy falling in love with a city boy) so there isn't a lot going on with the plot. Most of the drama comes from side characters having to do with Yul's life back in the city.

Some specific things I really liked:
1) HIGHLY appreciated how little of an "issue" was made about two guys being in love. I noted that not once did anyone have to explain that they were gay. There was no conversation like "oh you're into guys?" Neither was there any denial of feelings like, "oh you like men? Well I'm 'normal'" You know what I mean? There are these small remarks/comments that people make in shows whether its the characters themselves or the side characters around them that highlight the fact that being gay is "different". So it was truly refreshing how normal it was for Yul and Yechan to like each other. No hesitations and no explanations necessary, loved that.

2) Small point, but I love how Yul stood up for himself to his dad. Instead of continuing to go with what his dad wanted or hide away from him forever without expressing himself, I love that Yul took the reigns on his own life.

Overall, it's a good drama if you're looking for something uber light but filled with a ton of sweetness. It's not making my list of greatest BL of the year, but the story and execution was satisfactory and there are unique tidbits in this drama that differentiate it from other BL. Also, at the very least, I promise Yechan will have you smiling like an idiot whenever he is on screen and that in itself was good enough for me lol.

One of the better Ones

It's imagery of a soft, nicely done, homespun BL series is earned. It has such a nice feel about it and the chemistry between the two leading men is unique and somewhat special in places. Is it magical? For me it was not, completely. There is certainly a warm glow about this series and the subsequent sentiment that comes from it. It is a story that devolves and then evolves. While this series broke ground in breaking down stereotypical connections and storylines, I am just not as enamored with the relationship with Seon Yul and Ye Chan as others who have critiqued this series. While Ye Chan is the epitome of what love is, I am not so sure that Seon Yul is capable of reciprocating. Thus, my slight disinclination.

Adorable, Likeable, Funny Cast

When i first read about this series I wasn't sold on the idea but after watching the first episode I immediately was smitten by Ye Chan. Yul is also a good character, so I don't want to sell him or his actor short but Ye Chan is absolutely adorable. He's like a golden retriever. If you love your himbos, then he is king of himbos and it's hard not to find him so sweet and endearing.

Apart from the really likable leads, I also really enjoyed Ye Chan's mother and the random white guy farmer. They're all funny, pleasant characters that make this a really easy, enjoyable, lighthearted series to watch.

I really enjoyed the rural setting of this series as well. Perhaps I'm partial to farmland (I grew up in a farming town) but the agricultural setting of this series really was a lovely change to many of the K BL I've watched which mostly take place in Seoul (or other urban settings). The use of sunlight through windows in a lot of the scenes really gave a tranquil, countryside feel to a lot of the scenes, in particular in Yul's house.

The only negative thing I found was that I felt the ending came quite suddenly and I might've liked a couple more episodes of Ye Chan being adorably doting.

I can see how they could do a season 2 easily for this as far as the storyline goes but if it doesn't have another season, it still had a satisfying conclusion.

Simple, Light and Beautiful

If you are wanting to take a break from quirky, heavy, sensual BL drama series and want a nice relaxing one to refresh, this is the best series to watch.
The music is also good and refreshing.
I like the simplicity of the story and yet, it was done beautifully. It light, funny, and deals with real family issue.
Love it. Well written and directed BL series.
It is almost towards the end before the romance blooms in this series but its worth the wait. The relationship transitioned well. It is directed nicely.

So good, I recommend!

This drama is so good! It's light, entertaining, funny and romantic; it is one of the best, it's truly lighthearted, and the actors are so good and have got a lot of chemistry! The gentle romance along with the discovery of the characters and the growth of their feelings is amazing, especially with how you get to see both of the character's feelings and stories. The actors' portrayal of the characters just really brings this drama up to the very top, they've nailed the characters and their emotions, it's just a really great show, especially if you're looking for something light and easy to watch; 100% recommend!!

Cute and easy to digest

This series is the perfect choice for those who, like me, enjoy a cute story and have a preference for fluff over drama and angst. It's simple, charming, and doesn't take itself too seriously, which I can appreciate.

Stuff I liked:

- The comedy. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but some moments had me wheezing (for example, the scene where he's playing the melodica while crying? I just can't). Ye Chan had some really funny moments, and his over-the-top energy was a great addition to the show.
- The scenery/production! I genuinely wasn't expecting it to be that great. There are some shots which are beautiful, well-framed, and showcase the beauty of the countryside. The color grading was amazing as well.
- The dog. I loved that they all used it as a replacement for therapy lol
- Random white dude speaking korean?? I don't know, it gave me whiplash at first but he was fun I guess.
- The portrayal of a close-knit community! People in small villages really are very welcoming and giving, and I loved seeing that in a series. I think the only aspect it was missing was the hardcore gossiping that tends to happen as a result of knowing everyone and their mum.

Stuff to improve:

- Acting. While I praised Ye Chan as a character for being funny, I do think that the acting was a little too intense sometimes. The performance felt very one-note by the end of the series - he was always pouting, smiling, giggling, and being cute, which I liked at first, but I would've appreciated seeing a different part of him (does he get angry? Sad? Like, ever?). Everything he does is related to the main character, and he doesn't feel like a real person at all. Also, the character was borderline stalking Seon Yul at some points, and it felt -invasive? I don't know how to describe it.
-Seon Yul. I think that, while Ye Chan was simping for him almost from the start, Yul's attitude towards him came off as very standoffish and cool. I would've liked to see him developing feelings for his partner earlier on, because he fell for him at the very end and it felt soo rushed.
-I've seen someone else point this out, but the portrayal of people living in the countryside was a little bit off for me (?). Like, at times it felt like they (especially Ye Chan) were very simple-minded and almost dumb. Seeing their skills and positive traits, such as being hard-working, knowledgeable about nature and natural remedies, etc. could've been interesting. Apart from them being welcoming and generous, we didn't get much of that.

Overall, would recommend the series - it's light and entertaining.

A simply story made so beautiful

This is one of the dramas where the story is so simple, yet simple is made beautiful. Yul and Yechan really balance out each other. With Yul being calm, composed and soft most of the time, Yechan being dynamic, innocent and pure. With just little expressions, they are able to convey the feelings.
Yul may not seem outgoing and some might find boring, but the character needs it and he has done an amazing job expressing feelings and can really feel the blooming love here and can say he cares about Yechan, although he doesn't explicitly show in words. Yechan especially in the last 2 episodes was cuteness and innocence overloaded. OST just plays out perfectly.
The story folded out very smoothly, though could have been 1-2 episodes longer to show the love development longer. No unnecessary, annoying characters. Everything is just what was needed, no dragging.
The long green fields are an added plus, giving the exact village, farming feeling.

I really loved Yul's character and felt Do Won has done a great job here. Even with less words, I could feel his feelings, his body language and facial expressions are just perfect. And for Do Jin, never felt he was overacting. Loved each moment and his dialog delivery, especially the last episodes.

A definite rewatch for eternity.

AMAZINGLY FUNNY YET ROMANTIC DRAMA !

This is the reason why I love drama with a countryside concept ! I can say that this drama is the same as the Drama I watched before the Summer Strike yet funnier ?.
This drama is amazingly made this is something new to me for a BL , I like the way it is funny and fluttering, everything was just so simple in countryside right? I wish I could also just leave everything and go to the countryside and find love and do what I wanted to do with my life . Well I wish I am as wealthy as Yul ?
Yechan is so so funny ? the way he is so innocent and young and straightforward, and adding there Village Head Mr. Ma gave more flavor to the story, Yechans Mom is so funny too
I like the way it has only few Characters , coz it made the story easy to understand and straight, I liked also the way the made the Yul's ex part as short as possible so that the story might be focused running for Yechan and Yul
I love the OST so much and is already added to my weekly OST list ??
Too but that i is this short, I wish it is longer .. like I know that there can always something more that can happen on this two ? I really hope for a sequel for this drama
I saved this drama on my re watch list ! Thanks to this drama I had a good vibe in me ?
one of the memorable , simple and heartfelt, funny drama worth watching ❤️

it's actually better if you mute it

I was trying not to wake anyone up so I was watching some of the episodes muted, and honestly it was a big improvement.

The story is cute, it's realistic in my opinion, a lot of times we give up parts of ourselves when we get into a relationship, and that sacrifice ends up turning into regret. When things go awry, we lose our way and start to question our life direction, and thats exactly what's happening with our ML Seon Yul, he leaves Seoul to take care of his grandpa's farm while his grandpa is away, and does a bit of soul searching while he's there. Cold city boy meets warm country bumpkin Ye Chan, and they start to care for eachother.

The story is cute, but the characters could have used some work. Seon Yuls character is fine and his acting is good, but it would have been nice to get a little more depth to his character, for a short series it's pretty good though. Ye Chan on the other hand, his character is just not it in my opinion, they make him out to be this idiot bumpkin who doesn't know anything and acts like a 6 year old. It was kind of cute and innocent at times, but towards the end he just gets annoyingly dumb, and it's unrealistic. It's like they tried to make him the comedic relief and the love interest at the same time, and it really didn't work out.

Everything else about the series was okay, seriously if they replaced the actor who played Ye Chan, or at least made him act less absurd, this show would have been adorable.

“Sweet and Funny”

When it came out I really did not feel like watching. But, I thought maybe I should give this a try and I did finish it in one go. It was easy going, funny, sweet and overall a good delight to watch. I think the actors did amazing job with their characters especially Chan’s one. I saw people saying he is too immature and do not respect Yul’s boundaries especially when Yul rejected him many times and how he used to enter his house without knocking. But, what I want people to know that Chan was 20 years old and I know people are like SO WHAT?? He should act his age. I am sorry but he is so young and it’s his first ever crush I am not justifying his actions but that’s how most people of his age act. And that’s how his character was made. And others are forgetting that how he respected Yul’s dreams and let him go to Seoul. He had his flaws but at the end of the day he never held Yul back just because he liked to see his face and hear his voice.

Yul’s character was so amazing, oh my I think I might be in love. HE WAS SO COOL TOO!! But, he had his issues too like getting angry and letting it out on others.

The chemistry between the actors was sweet too T-T

These raw flaws made this drama worth to watch.
