last episode thoughts

Was it just me or was the whole last episode filler and flash backs?? nothing happened until the very last fifteen minutes. also how the heck did Noh Seok Min even survive??? I was expecting him to become a demon somehow. but he falls of the tallest building I’ve ever seen and falls into the water and somehow survives?? falling from a height like that would be like hitting cement and absolutely shatter his body. he comes back for all of five minutes and is dead 😅 it would have been more completing and exciting if he had come back as a demon as well. that’s where I thought the show was going with him stealing the book and learning about demons. that all became pointless then too.

Fails on the Story of a Fallen Angel

Honestly, I am blur as to what the writer really wanted to showcase and highlight about the story. But at least this series is far to be near the story of Thomas John Ellis's role as Lucifer in the American blockbuster urban fantasy tv series 'Lucifer' who both tackles the life of the castaway angel. Perhaps, the writer wanted to depict another side of this demonic character. i just find the story lackluster and failed to deliver a spectacle despite those good-looking actors, captivating location and production scenes.

The story simply lacks substance and spectacle of what the story of an evil creature should be depicted in order to leave an etch on the minds of the viewers.

didn’t understand the hype

this was my younger sisters fav drama but idk.. i didn’t get it. this just felt like every other drama i watch—fated romance w a murder mystery underneath it. they die for each other come back alive die again and live a happily ever after. i do understand that guwon and dohee had rly good chemistry LOL guwon was hot man . and i saw some of their bts like WOW. but the plot wasn’t there for me. they did have cute scenes but not enough to make up for the plot… idk this was meh. but good!??? better than the average but still … not everything.

My demon is overrated

Its not that good drama how the whole thing is hyped up. Ngl the visuals , ost and cast is good but the storyline is not that up to the mark to rewatch it once again . I dropped the drama at ep9 but till ep 16 it's a good drama to watch it for once I don't think so rewatching again is a good deal , compared to welcome to samdalri or other dramas these dramas are really better than my demon . I feel my demon is overrated . In short , it's a good drama with past life connection , thriller , romance comedy but something was missing to spice up the drama . overall it's a 5/10 for story .

My new favorite that beats all the classics including Goblin!

I love this drama. There are so many parts that were excellent. It has an great cast, amazing acting and the 2 leads had the best chemistry I've ever seen in a drama.

The pacing of the drama was perfect, never felt there was filler or too many side stories. It all felt very well-rounded and consistent and everything was wrapped up neatly and didn't feel rushed near the final episodes. There was also tension that made you look forward to each episode. I will be re-watching this drama many times and can't wait to buy the behind the scenes DVD!

There was a tiny plot hole so I deducted half a point but other than that it was perfect.

Expected more but overall it was alright

The hype that came with this drama before it even aired probably didn't do this drama any favors. I was literally so excited to watch but then it ended up just being alright and just a bit disappointing, especially towards the end where I was just over it and didn't really care much for it anymore. The only thing that really saved this drama was the chemistry and visual factors of our two leads, Kim You Jung and Song Kang. Honestly too, I finished this drama about a week ago and I forgot to write my review and now, I don't even have much to say. It just wasn't very excited or memorable really. Just a drama to pass the time and to be mildly to moderately entertained I guess.

I was obsessed with this show when it started

When this show started, I was obsessed. The minute new episodes dropped, I was there watching. And for episodes 1-10 I was in love with it. Every drama has filler episodes and I don’t mind 1 or 2 but this show is mainly filler episodes from episode 8-16. And I can’t believe I’m saying this because a month ago I was telling everyone I know about this show.

The acting and chemistry keeps this drama going. Kim Yoo Jung is really good in this and I would like to see her in similar roles as she matures as an actress. She really has chemistry with any actor she’s put with and I thought she was pretty good at the funnier scenes too.

I see a lot of people not enjoying Song Kang in this but I think he’s fine. He excels at the more intense scenes, but he could probably stand to work on his comedy delivery. His performance isn’t helped by the fact that outside of romantic scenes, he’s always paired with a much stronger comedic actor - the actor playing his sidekick assistant being a prime example.

The story had a lot of potential and I almost wish someone would redo the concept in a few years time but give us an actual mystery. Maybe the family could’ve been a lot bigger and with a real whodunnit.

I liked the songs in this; the title sequence music fit perfectly. However, there’s one song (and I’m sorry I don’t remember the name) which they used often and it rarely fit the mood of the scene. I’m only mentioning it in case someone out there feels vindicated that I also hated the use of that one song.

Overall, it wasn’t bad but I think a lot of us are mourning wasted potential.

How did they make a fascinating premise so boring in parts?

7/10 is my rating. This is a 2023/2024 South Korean supernatural romance drama with 16, 67 (average) minute episodes.

First I provide a unique synopsis then review

Synopsis

Do Do Hee (Kim You Jung) is the adopted daughter and heir apparent to a conglomerate company called the “Future Group”. She is known as a devilish, hard hitting, and “take no prisoners” executive who has won many awards. Her adopted mother, Joo Chun Sook (Kim Hae Sook) made it clear, when she was alive, that Do Hee would take over after she passed. This does not endear Do Hee to Chun Sook’s children who consider it their right to inherit all of their mother’s assets. The obvious solution to some of them is to get rid of the problem. In this case the problem is Do Hee. When a serial killer is hired to kill Do Hee, he nearly succeeds until Jung Koo Won (Song Kang) appears in his role as a Demon who strikes deals with mortals by granting wishings in return for their trip to Hell 10 years later. He originally plans to only save Do Hee if she enters into an agreement but then agrees to save her and then talk about the agreement. In the chaos that follows they both wind up nearly drowning and the tattoo that gives Koo Won his supernatural powers, transfers to Do Hee. Koo Won finds that he can still perform his role and have access to his power by holding Do Hee’s wrist where the tattoo is located. When Jun Sook tragically dies a condition of inheriting the business is Do Hee must marry within a year. Koo Won agrees to a contract marriage for mutual benefit, he needs to be close to her to touch her tattoo and she needs a husband to secure her inheritance. The two have twisted fate in the present, but things get even more fate based when it appears they also had a connection in the past.

Review

When I looked at reviews there seemed to be those that really loved this series but there was a near equal number that did not like it well. I am in the “did not like it well” camp. I think it is worth watching for the two talented actors, great chemistry and interesting premise if you can relax your expectations for a sensible plot. I was actually bored at times because the progress would hit a stall. I would recommend drama fans watch it once but I wouldn’t rush out to watch it.

Spoilers

I have seen hundreds of dramas at this point and that could be why I am among those that found this one very underwhelming. The main couple got together too early in my opinion. Then was no sense of anticipation. It did not make sense to me that she was so driven and determined to be the heir and then she just gave it up. I know they were trying for the “anything for love” angle, that she was willing to give up all the power and money to protect herself and the person she loved but it was out of character in my opinion.

The serial killer bad guy who was hunting her died too early. I was wondering what they were going to have happen next. It was just odd to have that particular bad guy gone so early in the story.

Two very annoying things in this one. Usually you feel somewhat sorry for 2nd girl or guy and I did like second guy but the 2nd girl was one of the most annoying I have experienced to date. They tried hard to gain our sympathy for her in showing how he saved her from abuse but, even that, did not excuse her toxic behavior later. She even tried to get main girl to drink poison so that the main guy, who is a demon who already lived hundreds of years, could live. Although she had hung around him for over a decade and he showed no interest she still blamed main girl for wrecking her chance. What chance? Her jealousy was misplaced and annoying.

The other annoying thing was the romance between the elder couple. It was fine they liked each other, even cute, but them hiding it for so long became ridiculous. I think it was supposed to be funny and they definitely did the big reveal where they thought they were hiding it but everyone already knew. Oh ha ha! Like we have never seen that play out before. It was unoriginal and just not funny.

When Netflix gets ahold of something I know it is going to be drawn out too much and there will be way too many flashbacks. That was the case in this one. The plot would already be dragging because so many of the major conflicts and reveals already happened and then, oh great, let’s rehash the whole script again.

They, of course, had to do the separating from you for your own good trope. I don’t like that trope. It is right up there with the amnesia trope for me.

I believe it was confirmed the leads were dating in real life and they definitely had that level of chemistry. It is not their fault the script was just awful at some points. Their acting was excellent but the content was off.

There was so much potential in this one. With a great cast and interesting premise this could have been a great addition to the supernatural genre. I am not sure how they managed to make it so drawn out and boring except the pacing and when they chose to do reveals.

brand new old

Enjoyable but very forgettable.

I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed this k-drama, but I think its biggest problem is that it's very forgettable.
On one hand, the chemistry between our two main characters is good and it shows on screen. This show certainly doesn't let Song Kang's physical attributes down lol.
However, what I probably didn't like much was the plot, which in itself is not very innovative in the fantasy genre, it takes us back to past lives again, and reminded me a lot of Doom at your service and Destined With You and so many other kdramas, almost as if all of the fantasy Korean dramas had a child. For that reason, I think this show is easily forgettable.
Although I repeat, I'm not going to lie, I did enjoy it, but I wish they would have omitted so many things that I could tell were plot fillers and added very little from my perspective, and most of the characters were not that well written.

For New Comers its Feels good..

Netflix promotions and their visuals attracted
Overall good story ,line, their chemistry their comedy at few times were good.
Not toooo clingy romantic drama but a fantasy one ..
Felt like little over hyped
Good experience watching
But felt like we have seen it some where like all the fantasy realm dramas would be like first both leads are attached with some tho next them avoiding each other and next accepting
A CEO , a company a marriage contract, a body guard and owner love story
A past story
Sacrifice.a mixup of all famous ones

Few episodes were lagg
And in ending the heroine fl need not to take the gun shot as demon can't die
But she took the gun shot for him and she ended died and ml has to combust that was very annoying and tricky the directors made....
Not a new one
Not felt anywhere refreshing
An old repeat

For new comers its feels good

Not bad but not good

It's an easy watch, no need to use your brain at all. Probably a good way to destress.

Plot
The writing is not amazing, but it's not so boring that I would drop it. As other reviews already mentioned, it's a mix-and-match of your favourite typical cliches. NOTHING AGAINST CLICHES, I like them.

Cast
Amazing visuals from the main cast, Song Kang and Yoojung, and they have amazing chemistry in my opinion (I mean what else can I say?) Acting is great.

Music
Amazing setlist omg, I would totally add the OSTs to my Spotify playlist. The opening theme is catchy and well. Tiktok speaks for itself.

Rewatch value
Rated it kinda high because I think it's really easy to just throw this on and enjoy it.
