Such mixed feelings...
So the score of this drama here one might think is criminally low, as how good the series is... but it made a lot of sense after watching the last episode. It will not end the way you'd like or how it should. No spoilers, just a warning, as I hate endings like this and I feel like I have to do this favor for you of letting you know in advance.
I think the middle of the series is starting to drag but it gathers itself nicely again and quickly regains the same excitement it had at the first third of the episodes. I really like the main guy, I think he did amazing even despite the MOUSTACHE omg shave that thing! and the horrible dressing they committed against him.
He is good, he is a joker, a player, a bad guy and the good guy. The show often plays with the metaphor of masks and it's definitely what he has a lot of and you wonder which is the real one.
The twists are maybe a bit too much, but the way the pacing gives them to the audience is very good, so even if it's pretty much over the top, it doesn't feel like it. It's well done to keep you at the edge of your seat a lot.
It is a revenge plot, and these tend to have this moral question, if you know you know, and I don't like the answer it gives at the end.
It was no question until the end if I would recommend it to others, but now I'm stuck. I don't know. At the end it does feel like a waste of emotions and interest I put into it. You have to decide if you're ready to make this sacrifice.

As to relation between Jae In and Geon Uk, I like when it wasn't called love. Then it was unique.
Hmm.. I think about Moon Won In character. Who was her stylist?! At the beginning I though she had been a boy!

the most morally bankrupt drama i have ever watched, and it's infuriating AF
honestly, i feel like this writer is a sadist. this is first time i am watching a drama where none of the lead characters are worth rooting for, because they are all despicable. and it really makes my blood boils when i think about it. well the two male leads may be more pathetic than despicable, and the SFL (Oh Yeon Seo) is actually well fleshed-out, but considering what she's done to her own sister, i'd also hate her with all of my guts too.i feel like for a drama dealing with the subject of revenge, making the lead characters come through with shades of grey is a lot more sensible writing-wise, because then you can immerse yourself into the pain and sufferings of the characters a lot more. but here all the lead characters are almost definitively morally corrupt, and by the end of it all, you finish the drama just for the sake of knowing the resolve instead of a genuine interest into the characters' endings.
i think the ML is quite well written, except around ep. 14 onwards the drama has lost its course and taken up melodrama instead of staying true to its revenge genre which gets so fckin annoying. i also don't understand how is it from someone who was taken to the mental hospital after a major car accident, he was okay again and regained perfect mental sensibilities after just a span of days LOL. unfckinbelievable, you tell me.
the drama literally rubs me in all the wrong ways in the last 4 episodes. at least in the first half, i was invested in the story and especially in the ML's moves because he's very calculative and strategic with the way he's gonna pursue his revenge. and he also comes across as a dangerous, homme fatale type which in a way reminds me of the ML character in TSHLYE. i thought i was gonna up-end this drama better than TSHLYE because of the thrill in his cunningness and motives, but the last episodes were really disappointing. he became more pathetic than when he started out with revenge and it makes you feel really cheated as a viewer. in fact, he stays as the most miserable of them all, which becomes a really hard pill to swallow by the end of it.
also, i have to rant about the FL character, Moon Jae In. holy sh*t, i realise once again how easily deceived i am by someone's good looks. until the end i didn't want to believe that she's a straight-up gold digger with no bones and self-pride with her sweet innocent look, but she really was. in the midst of all the corrupt characters, i really wanted to like her and when she finally had the change/courage of heart, i no longer cared which path she pursued. she started feeling really shallow and boring at the beginning, and by the end of it, has naturally become THAT IRRELEVANT. this personification feels similar to other lead characters i believe. the writer just touches the bare surface to make us care about what happens to them at the end, but never dug deep enough to the point where we can root for them because we understand their perspectives, or their pain. it's hugely problematic for a revenge drama full of characters that had the potential to pull your heartstrings in so many different ways.
the ending was rushed too, and very unsatisfying to me especially what happened to the ML. i guess there's no other way because Kim Nam Gil was conscripted to military service around that time.
all in all, this is literally the most morally bankrupt drama i have ever watched, and it's infuriating AF. if you are not watching this for Kim Nam Gil, then honestly don't bother. find something else.

ENDING YANG SANGAT MEMBAGONGKAN!
Overall the story is sames like every k-dramas 2000's. Betraying, misunderstanding, revenge, or something like that. From the start it's so easy predict what's gonna happen next, altho for the ending i can't predict what's gonna happen.
The story progression it's remained me of A Love to Kill or That Winter, The Wind Blows :v
So heavy and so drama-tic XD
BTW, i'm a video-grapher and i can tell you that there's so many mistake in the video XD
well... what u expect from the 2000's drama, right?

Wow! So well executed from start to finish
I usually watch the romcom, but once in a while get sucked into a series like this. The story line has been told. It was the acting, the filming and the music that pulled it all together. Initially, I came to this in search of more Kim Jae Wook who I have been a fan of since Her Private Life. What I found was he along with Kim Nam Gil blew me away. They are amazing actors just engage you in every element of the story. The music was awesome. Not the usual repetitious chords or pop. So the story, acting, filming and music blended together. I certainly will watch specific episodes again. Was this review helpful to you?
one good-looking guy doesnt make a drama
I came here because i find the ML to be such a great actor after seeing him in "Fiery Priest", but this drama is far from meeting my expectations. First of all, women are all annoying and acting dumb, second, the ML is always frowning and posing macho. Honestly, it's not much for me to relate to.Maybe i should save it for another occasion, now dropped.

This drama was made over 10 years ago and I wonder if all the Korean dramas were this SLOW back then!!! By golly each episode moved at a snail's pace. It seemed like it was over an hour!
I watched because the main male lead was the guy from Fiery Priest. I don't know his name but I think it's Kim-somebody. I wanted to see this because I know he has some mad Tae Kwon Do skills and he showed a little in the first episode so I was thinking yes, this will be one of those dramas that will have fighting scenes in it.
Nope! By the fourth episode I told myself to give it one more shot and if nobody does any fighting then I'm dropping it. Not only that, they had that cliche romance in it. Oh my gosh I want to rip my eyes out for the sappiness!!!
If this series was aiming for the plot I wonder how many episodes it would take to actually get to the point. All through the 5 episodes it just focused on two guys having a crush on one girl. Then when the preview of the 6th episode showing everybody fighting over one girl and the main guy, it made me want to hurl insults at whoever thought this was a good drama.
It's dubbed as a thriller, melodrama and romance but there's no thriller in it. It's predominately romance and yes this is why I avoid Korean dramas that have romance in it. I'm so disappointed right now because it's already hard enough trying to find my style of drama without the romance and that makes my chances of finding that slim and nil.
