A Fresh Take on Campus Dramas
I started watching Road to Success with almost no expectations. I had been watching too many modern C-dramas lately, and every costume drama I tried ended up getting dropped. So, I decided to stick with modern Chinese dramas for a while, and I'm so glad I gave this one a chance.I had already seen both leads, Chen Jing Ke and Esther Yu, in other dramas, and I really like both of them. What I loved the most was that this isn't your typical campus romance. It has a completely different plot, and there wasn't a single annoying character throughout the entire drama.
The real stars of the show, though, are the boys. They completely carried the drama with their amazing chemistry, teamwork, and friendship. Watching them grow together, struggle, and support one another was genuinely heartwarming and one of the biggest highlights of the series.
The supporting cast was equally impressive. The male lead's sister and his former manager were so entertaining, and the female lead's best friend surprised me the most. At first, I thought she would create unnecessary drama, but I was completely wrong. She turned out to be a lovable and supportive character.
What makes this drama stand out is that it doesn't focus only on the romance between the main leads. Every character has their own story, purpose, and development, making the entire drama feel rich and engaging. No one feels like they're just there to fill space.
If you enjoy school dramas, strong friendships, team spirit, and football, this drama is definitely worth watching. It's entertaining, emotional, and full of fun moments that kept me invested from beginning to end.
Rating: 9.5/10 ⭐

My comfort show of 2026
The mystery pushed me watch, but the found family and the bonds between the cast made me stay. I can't express how wonderful it was to see the team rebuild their trust and love for soccer again. To see FXS really fight for the team at the beginning, to all the boys finding their spark again, it will forever be a heart warming experience for me to watch. Even LWX who was trying to coast along after trying to escape her past couldn't help but fall in love with the energy and the gravitation to the team.I generally do not watch sports genres, but this drama dropped quite literally during the best time with the world cup. We were able to see the boys, LXW, and WF rebuild the team from bottom to top, I couldn't help but find myself feeling happiness for every win and sadness for every loss. Truly a found family.
I loved the slow burn. I love how communicative, honest, mature, and understanding LWX and WF are with each other. They never let one wonder too long and was very straight to the point. When one didn't want to talk about something, the other didn't push. They waited for the other to come to them. Very refreshing to see a mature couple in dramas.
Xinxin did great in this drama. It's nice to see her step into more mature roles and show that she's a versatile actress. Her outfits, 100/10. Facecard, 10000/10. I love seeing her improve her craft with every project.
Cheng Jing Ke.. 2 words, husband. material. The way he acts with his eyes! You can see the admiration, the love, the sadness flow from his eyes, I was mesmerized. A pairing I never knew I needed, tbh. They look so expensive next to each other and I love it. I ate up every sec of it (drama, interviews, live streams).
To all the boys, great job. Working in the summer heat, playing a hard game, and acting to their fullest. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for them.
A must watch. It had me laughing and crying. Makes me sad that it's done. My forever baobeis!

Totally unexpected healing drama
Honestly I don't know where to start and what to write but I have to because Road to Success easily become one of my favorite dramas of all time and it really unexpected. I am a fan of Yu Shuxin I admit, but I'm not biased, there were some dramas with her as a FL that just didn't hit me that much. I was afraid that with this one it will be the same. From the synopis and trailers I thought that maybe I would finish this if I had time but I didn't have many expectations at all. And to my surprise I was completely wrong.Road to Success turned out to be a type of drama that I was looking for for a long time.
I got into it so much to the point that when I watched the last episode I cried just as if I was the teacher of these 11 boys. I love how their stories were written, how their friendship developed over time, how they grew up and matured over time.
I completely loved the relationship between lead even though a lot of people complained about it. Personally I thought it was such a nice way to show a mature relationship between two grown people, who went from strangers to lovers, without any childhood connections like in many many dramas (not to mention that i hate this trope). FL was really strong even though she has a lot of issues going on. The scene in the court when she spoke up about women was really amazing. And Yu Shuxin nailed this role, no matter what anyone said, she potrayed Lin Wanxing really well in my opinion. I also enjoyed that after everything she's been through it actually ended with her going back to university and continue what she couldn't finish before. Loved how Wang Fa said that for now he wants her to become the bright WanXing from before and not anything else. Of course I would love to see them getting married or having a baby and boys coming to see it all but for a woman like Lin Wanxing, who went through so much ending like this is waaay better. It doesn't change the fact that in my head they are already married and with kids🤭🤭
Overall I enjoyed everything about it, main characters, side characters, the plot, the aesthetics, the ending, music, literally everything ♥️

One I’ll Gladly Rewatch
I’ll admit, I didn’t expect this drama to leave such a lasting impression on me.At first glance, Road to Success looks like another youth drama centered around football. It isn’t.
What I found instead was a story about people, about growth, healing, second chances, and the quiet courage it takes to keep moving forward even when life doesn’t go as planned.
One of the drama’s biggest strengths is that it never treats its supporting characters as mere background. Every student, teacher, parent, and friend has a purpose. Their stories aren’t there just to create conflict or fill screen time; they feel authentic, and together they build a world that feels surprisingly real.
Lin Wanxing is one of my favorite female leads in recent years. She’s kind without being naïve, resilient without pretending to be fearless, and compassionate without becoming a cliché. Esther Yu delivers what I genuinely believe is one of her most mature and heartfelt performances to date. She doesn’t rely on exaggerated expressions or dramatic moments to make you care. Instead, she makes Lin Wanxing feel like someone you could actually meet in real life.
The writing is another pleasant surprise. It doesn’t rush emotional moments or manufacture unnecessary misunderstandings just to keep the plot moving. Instead, it allows relationships to develop naturally, making both the joyful and emotional scenes feel earned.
Even if you have absolutely no interest in football, don’t let that stop you. The sport is simply the backdrop. The real story is about finding your place in life, learning to trust yourself again, and discovering that success means something different for everyone.
What stayed with me most wasn’t a particular romance or plot twist. It was the conversations, the life lessons, and the characters themselves. Long after finishing the final episode, I still found myself thinking about them.
This isn’t a drama that constantly demands your attention with shocking twists. Instead, it quietly works its way into your heart, episode by episode.
If you’re looking for a drama that’s sincere, emotionally rewarding, and filled with characters you’ll genuinely care about, I highly recommend giving Road to Success a chance.
Sometimes the most memorable stories aren’t the loudest ones.
They’re the ones that stay with you after the credits roll.

Cant wait for the next episode
Absolutely wonderful chemistry between ML and FL, especially when the ML looks at the FL, full of admiration. The boys (students) are fun to watch and their own stories or lives get me hooked up.As for the story, I don't get bored. Each episode is eventful. There are romantic scenes between the main actors each episode and they always made me giggle.
Definitely worth recommending.

A Story That Knows Exactly What It Wants to Tell
What impressed me most isn’t the romance, it’s how naturally the story flows. The plot doesn’t rely on unnecessary misunderstandings or exaggerated drama. Every character feels like they belong in the story, and the pacing gives each scene enough room to breathe. It’s a surprisingly well-balanced drama.

It's feels like oasis on chinese long drama
I watched this solely because of Chen Jingke and Youth theme. I have no issue with Esther Yu but some of her dramas that i watched were not my cup of tea and her voiceover was quite okay though and she has clear pronunciation. If you are seeing sports theme drama with slice of mystery with sprinkle of Comedy , Road to Success is one of kind in long drama. If you have another same theme, let me know so i can watch. The chemistry between Lin Wangxing and her students were quite cute. I quite enjoy the romance even it was minimal but the dynamic between Wang Fa and Lin Wangxing are amusing. The ending was quite perfect and i recommended this drama for J-Drama enjoyer who loves youth drama.

A Journey That Felt Like Home
Road to Success was an unexpected 10/10 for me. Before it aired, I barely kept up with any updates or promotions. I started it solely because of Esther Yu. By the end, I found myself completely attached to every character and every step of their journey. This is, without a doubt, my favorite Esther Yu modern drama. Lin Wanxing was such a refreshing character—responsible, caring, emotionally mature, and the heart of the entire team. She wasn't just supporting them, she was the light that kept everyone moving forward.
This was also my first Chen Jingke drama, and he genuinely impressed me. He fit the role of Wang Fa perfectly. Calm, dependable, and inspiring without trying too hard, he embodied everything you'd hope to see in a coach.
The boys completely stole my heart too. Each of them had their own personality, struggles, and growth, making the team feel like a real family instead of just a group of side characters. Wen Chengye was my personal favorite (even though I loved all of them).
One character I absolutely couldn't stand was Xiang Zi. He was an absolute psycho, and every time he appeared on screen, he made my blood boil.
One of my favorite moments in the drama was Xingxing's courtroom speech. It was powerful, emotional, and incredibly delivered. I also appreciated how the director wasn't afraid to address certain issues in that scene. It gave the drama much more depth and made its message even more meaningful.
More than the romance or the football itself, this drama was about growth, dreams, friendship, and finding people who believe in you. Watching them overcome setbacks and celebrate every small victory made me feel like I was right there alongside them. By the finale, it honestly felt like I had gone through the journey with my own little family, watching them shine brighter and brighter.
Road to Success is warm, comforting, inspiring, and full of heart. It's one of those dramas that quietly stays with you long after it ends, and I couldn't have asked for a better surprise.

What a pleasant surprise
I didn't plan to watch this show bcz my dramalist is long but i ended up clicking on it randomly and wjen i say i binged 15 episodes without sleeping, i was so entertained, loved every minute of itThe drama is not romance centric, it have many subplots and stories for characters that are engaging and doesn't feel overwhelming either, i loved the found family between teacher, coach and football team, they were healing eo without even knowing thzt.
lin wanxing and wang fa’s romance was slow lovely and well developed, a truly stranger to lovers and fck her parents.
Loved how kids got WF to teach them and find hope again in football and teaching, after he lost his best student, he overcome the guilt and was be able to coach again
The kids were so good, portraying teenagers emotions in best way, my favorite was Qin Ao, he was playful, funny, emotional, hot headed yet very kind hearted, he was very cute
Fu Xin Shu and Wen Cheng Ye had shitty families, i loved their storyline, the angst to reconciliation with eo, seeing wcy open up to whole team slowly was wholesome
I don't want to say much, this is wholesome storyline with great communication between characters, the osts and acting, visuals were comforting
