Bad showing!

The episode started in the cutest most wholesome fashion only to turn into a shit fest by the time it was mid-episode. How do you go from a hilarious and cute honeymoon to blatantly showing straight up domestic violence and then that awful scene with the black man? He even called her a primary school student (where she was indeed 16 years old at the time while Furukawa was 26 of age) only to end up with a cheesy kissing scene. I'm appalled.

Episode 1 or 2?

I don't want to stir up things here. So I'll just rate it as if this drama were just 15 episodes long. I've already rated the first episode (or sometimes called Episode 0.) aka the special 'Itazura na Kiss 2: Love in Okinawa'. So I'll rate the episode(s here) following the title and summary not the number of the episode(s).

Disappointment at its Best

Japanese dramas have a quirky, heartwarming spark to it that make them stand out from other productions. But this episode took too much 'quirky', turned it into 'ridiculous', and left all the 'heartwarming' behind.
I felt that the plot of this episode was a circle: it started and ended in the same intolerable point. All I saw was a sucky husband treating his waif wife like a piece of nothing. You'd at least expect this episode to have some sort of point, like BOTH sides of the spouses learning from their mistakes... but no. All you get is the typical "rude guy is a jerk for a totally 'selfless' reason, so the lovesick girl should apologise for standing up to him" that you get in all dramas.
After the majesty that was the special, I was disappointed. All the growth in the marital relationship of Irie and Kotoko that we saw came crumbling down into a debris of unbearable characters, distasteful exaggeration, and an eye-roll worthy storyline.
I'm not even sure if I'll continue watching.
