Kim Sung Cheol is in discussion to be the main lead of Hellbound Season 2 instead of Yoo Ah In.
On March 2, media outlet DongA revealed that Yoo Ah In will drop out from the second season of Hellbound and be replaced by actor Kim Sung Cheol.
According to reports, Kim Sung Cheol will be the one to continue playing the role of Jung Jin Soo, the founder, and leader of the religious group The New Truth that Yoo Ah In portrayed in season 1.
Kim Sung Cheol's agency Story J Company shared their side regarding the casting reports. According to them, they are still checking and confirming the casting of Kim Sung Cheol for Hellbound Season 2.
Hellbound Season 2 will begin filming this summer and it is scheduled to premiere next year.
Last month, Yoo Ah In became the center of the news after he is suspected of habitual use of illegal drugs. Currently, the actor already tested positive for marijuana, propofol, cocaine, and ketamine. Yoo Ah In will also be summoned by the police early this month.
With Yoo Ah In's issue, Netflix revealed that they are in discussion with several production teams that are involved in Yoo Ah In's upcoming works for the platform. One of them is the upcoming second season of Hellbound. The K-drama was supposed to film with Yoo Ah In this coming June.
The upcoming K-drama will continue to showcase the supernatural phenomenon wherein mysterious beings come to the world unannounced and issue a decree and condemn individuals to hell.
If Kim Sung Cheol confirms his casting, this will be his comeback to the small screens since the 2021 K-drama Our Beloved Summer. The actor was previously seen in the movie The Night Owl with Yoo Hae Jin, Ryu Joon Yeol, Choi Moo Sung, Jo Sung Ha, and Park Myung Hoon.
