Netflix's original series "Squid Game" is the first Korean drama to top Netflix in the United States.

According to Flix Patrol, "Squid Game" ranked first in Netflix's 'Today's Top 10 Content in America'  for September 21. The Korean drama beat 'Otis' Secret Counseling Center' falling to second place, "Clickbait" took the third spot of the rank. 

This is the first for a Korean drama ranked #1 in Netflix US. The record-holder was "Sweet Home" starring Song Kang, Lee Jin Wook, Lee Si Young, Lee Do Hyun, and more, which previously ranked #3 in the United States. Aside from taking first place in the United States, "Squid Game" also ranked first in Hong Kong, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand. In South Korea, it continued to take the first spot in 'Today's Top 10 Contents in Korea' since its release.

"Squid Game" is the masterpiece of director Hwang Dong Hyuk ("Miss Granny" and "The Fortress".) The drama premiered on Netflix last September 17th. The original series consists a total of 9 episodes that showcase the story of participants in a mysterious survival game with a  prize of 45.6 billion won (around $38 million dollars). The participants participate in a children's game with their lives at stake.

The Netflix original series is led by Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Jung Ho Yeon, Wi Ha Joon, Oh Young Soo, Heo Sung Tae, and more.

"Squid Game" is currently airing on Netflix in 83 countries.

After the release of "Squid Game," Netflix will be launching the next Korean drama which is "My Name" starring Han So Hee, Ahn Bo Hyun, Park Hee Soon, Kim Sang Ho, and more.
