Hi, guys! Another year has passed so here's the list of the highest-grossing Asian films of 2017 (according to official sources). If you haven't watched them yet, make sure to at least check them out!

Note: Animated films have been excluded on purpose.


CHINA


Wolf Warrior 2 is a film about Wu, a former national martial-arts champion, who reprised his role as a special forces marksman leading an elite squad on patriotic duty. It relocates the action to a fictional war-torn country in Africa. ($854,248,869)

Never Say Die -  A male UFC boxer switches bodies with the female reporter who exposed his bribes. Now they must help each other to win the championship. ($333,937,573)

The Ex-File 3: The Return of the Exes is the third and final film of the hugely popular EX-FILE series and sees buddies Meng Yun (Han Geng) and Yu Fei (Zheng Ryan) break up with their girlfriends and indulge themselves in living the bachelor lifestyle again. ($293,400,000)

HONG KONG

Love In A Puff introduced the couple Cherie and Jimmy who meet  over a cigarette in the street after Hong Kong has banned indoor  smoking. It follows the couple to  Taiwan and sees their relationship tested when Jimmy’s childhood friend  asks him to donate sperm for her  artificial insemination. ($3.87m)

Shock Wave - When a terrorist who specializes in  explosives takes hold of an underground tunnel, he threatens to kill  hostages if his demands are not met. ($3.25m)

Journey To The West: The Demons Strike Back - Tang Monk brings 3 disciples along with him on a journey to the West. On  the outside, everything seems harmonious but tension present beneath  the surface; and their hearts and minds are not in agreement. ($3.02m) - source

I Want to Eat Your Pancreas - A high school boy falls in love with a classmate who is suffering from a pancreatic disease. He is now a high school teacher at the school they went to and remembers the time he spent with her there. ($29,483,457)

Destiny: The Tale of Kamakura - Isshiki Masakazu, a mystery writer living in Kamakura who is also a  skilled detective. Together with his wife, Akiko, he interacts with the demons, spirits, gods, buddhas, and aliens of Kamakura. His acquaintances and friends range from affiliates of the Police to mysterious animals. Adults and children will enjoy this work of mystery as he solves difficult and strange cases with a variety of characters at his side. ($24,190,736)


SOUTH KOREA
