And without the manga and/or anime influences, I think it could be up to par? But something that couldn't leave my mind was that Skip-Beat! is a huge title with a huge following. In order to produce an adaption of such work, you really need to bring your A-game, in which I find GTV a little slacking.
What I personally liked was the casting of Ren's manager and Kyoko. Jin and Ivy seem great for those roles.
However, what I didn't like was the casting of Siwon and Donghae, mainly because of the voice-overs. When it comes to role portrayal I feel Donghae captures Shou well enough, but Siwon...I'm not liking his acting in this. I'm aware the Ren has a very stoic and reserved personality in the beginning, but Siwon's acting here for me hasn't yet fit the bill. But I'm willing to continue the series to see if once the all the characters have been fully introduce if maybe their interaction will ease out Siwon's role.
Kyoko apparitions were fine enough, but it bothered me a little that they didn't follow her hair transitions.
Looking forward to the next episode! ^-^
I agree with you that Donghae is quite convincible as Shou, but Siwon ... originally I was rooting for Ren (manga) but
now I am head over for Shou. :D
Actually I am interested in what is going to follow - so far they have copied the manga almost perfectly, but
Taiwanese dramas usually introduce coupledom very early in a drama but I remember that in the manga they/Kyoko
were not even close to even realising their feelings. (I might be wrong here, I stopped reading shortly after Shou's
kissing attempts).
Anyway, I was trying to watch episode three today - but the viki channel was deleted. :S
